Finding a Lunch place acceptable to 2 picky grand girls was not an easy task. What don't they like? Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Sandwiches, Salads, etc. That pretty much left Italian or Pizza and in this case one DGG didn't like the texture of the cheese. And there was no pasta on the menu. As I was raised in a "clean your plate" family, her cries of "I'm starving" after her Lunch refusals fell on deaf ears. In other words, if you're hungry enough and baring any food allergies, you'll eat what's offered. Actually, the Pizza that Gayle and I ordered was quite good, especially the crust. Cannery Pizza looks like a fairly bare bones operation, and I'm not sure everything they said that was available on their outside sign was available. Checked out Cannery Pizza on a weekend trip to Monterey and was pleasantly surprised. The open doors pull you in right away with the smell of fresh pizza. Everything is customizable (except the crust), and at $17 for a whole pizza, the value is hard to beat. We went with a meat lovers style, including sausage, pepperoni, and bacon, and it was plenty filling. Three slices each and we were stuffed. It is surprising to see that this place has got 3 star review overall. They are better than that. Not sure what the people were unhappy about. Most people seem to have problems with the dough. We've had Cannery Pizza a few times while vacationing on Cannery Row and although this place may not be a favorite to other Yelpers, there's a reason why I really love this place. Their fried pickles and ranch are absolutely amazing. We had the displeasure of ordering fried pickles at Bubba Gump and they were so bad they were inedible. The fried pickles here are fresh and the batter they fry it in is seasoned perfectly, 10/10 highly recommend. We also really like the mozzarella sticks and the Gouda mac and cheese bites. I ordered a pepperoni and feta pizza and I wished I had gotten a different protein and added onions to this pizza. The pepperoni was a little much and was too greasy but I overall enjoyed it. They load their topping here, which is a good thing. I also like that they have a lot of toppings to choose from and they allow up to 3 per pizza. I was really sad to see they took their pasta off the menu because we really enjoyed that the last time we were there. The service was quick and nice. There are some tables to sit at inside, but we always order to go because we always stay in the hotel across the street. We really love this place and can't wait to order again. read more

I am not a super fan of this spot, but my husbae loves it here! This is one of the pizza places that stay open when others are closed. If you want a pizza fix, this spot is worth checking out. I cannot confirm this is the best pizza I have tried in the area, but desperate measure, this place will do the job. The pizza is made to order and while you wait, watch TV and relax in the indoor seating area. Located on the busy Cannery Plaza this spot is walking distance from the hotels near the plaza. Not going to lie, when I first walked in I did not think the pizza was going to be that great. I WAS SO WRONG! Best pizza I have ever had! The location could not be better, it is in perfect walking distance from the aquarium in the cannery row area of Monterey. There are hotels nearby and public transit options. Scenic views of the Pacific Ocean across the street. The pizza was amazing. It was just the right amount of cooked so that the crust wasn't spongey but also not crunchy. It brought back childhood memories, i felt like I was a kid eating with my parents at the park again. I swear I have had this pizza flavor before. It reminds me of Round Table or Pizza My Heart if you are familiar with those pizza chains. Very nostalgic flavor for me. It was a decent size. Definitely a personal pizza and will almost fill you up. If you are very hungry, you might need two pizzas. You can choose up to 5 toppings, choose your crust thickness, and choose your sauce. The pasta was definitely on the smaller size. It was creamy and really good. It's pretty good, not bad. It's a good location because it's so close to the aquarium, so when you get out starving this place is within a short walking distance. It is small so the tables are crowded. It was at times very difficult to understand the cashier. Some sodas were not functioning on the soda machine. Nothing to complain about with the pizzas. They are pricy in my opinion, but not pricy for the area/location, and I think for being within a walking distance of the aquarium it is probably one of the cheaper foods in that area. read more

It's a very customizable place with pizza, salad, and pasta. The service wasn't too great since we waited 10 minutes to even place our order. We only saw two workers which I get why it was slow to take our order but they gotta figure out a way to fix that. The place was semi full but a somewhat small amount of room for feeding. I got a pesto pasta and it was OILY . When i moved the pasta around you could just see a pool of oil. The pesto flavor wasn't that great. I believe that they make the pizza and pasta and run it through a conveyors belt to cook it or warm it up. For pasta it is NOT enough. They pull out precooked refrigerated pasta and mix your choices and run it through, the cheese on top was melted and it was warm at best. The inside and certain pasta pieces were COLD however.
