If you are looking for a classic American breakfast place, this is a great one. Not my typical first choice for breakfast, but I can understand the appeal for those who enjoy a more southern style simple breakfast. Food was great and ambience seemed to be a very local eatery. Would rate this restaurant a 3.5, could use improvements on a more updated menu selection, however a great option if you are looking for a locally popular restaurant that offers more traditionally southern style breakfast. read more

Usually reserve reviews for multiple visits but had to post about my birthday lunch. We tried to call that morning for reservations (they don't take them) so we knew we needed to get there early for lunch. Had one friend show up and got us on list. Said it would be about 20 mins but ended up being 45 at least. This is because instead of using the opportunities to get seats together they predetermined when they wanted to seat us and the people sitting there were in no rush to leave. Had to be about 4-6 parties that came after us and people leaving were we could have been seated. But they say the parties tables apart. The service otherwise was great. The consensus was that the food was tasty. I enjoyed my bread pudding pancakes (they even put a candle in it for my birthday). The grits needed a good helping of butter, salt and pepper but were prepared nicely. Didn't care for the hashbrowns. Assuming they were trying to get the food out as close to together as possible so some plates were done before others. So wish it were hotter, same went for country fried steak. Not as hot as I would have liked. No heat to it at all but I still ate it so that's something. We all agreed it was worth a visit back for the lunch menu and a nice change to our typical lunch spots. This place lived up to the hype! The food was all so tasty. The fried green tomatoes were my favorite. All of us were so full afterwards. Each plate was very filling and a good size. Everyone was satisfied with their orders. The staff was very friendly. The seating area is not huge, so prepare to wait for a table. We waited about 45mins for a table of 5. Came here for a Saturday brunch. The place is small but cozy. The staff are friendly and attentive to our needs making sure we have what we needed. We ordered the country fried steak, pumpkin spice pancakes and goat in the garden omelet. The food came out fresh and warm. The steak was delicious. The potatoes were crispy and flavorful. The pancakes was a seasonal dish and it was a nice treat. Will come back again. read more

Do not door dash from this location. I don't know why DoorDash uses a location 2x the distance from the closest one but this location stinks every time we order. They miss food. Only put 1/2 a quesadilla in the box. Who puts full pieces of bacon in a quesadilla instead of little pieces? Do not recommend. read more

First of all, if you're going to open a food service business in Florida, you should at least have fans and a better way to block the sun. It was hot in there. On Sundays, brunch is a must. I love the way I don't have to be up super early to enjoy eggs, the cocktails that come with it, the mixes of savory and sweet foods. I love Brunch. This past weekend, the "I just woke up and he has been drinking coffee for an hour" conversation with my Fiance/Favorite Beard went to the normal Sunday question- Where are we going for brunch?  I have finally gotten him to go try new places with me instead of staying close to home and only going to the same places all the time. I had book marked Canopy Road Café about a month ago when we tried to go the first time and it was way to packed. This time we would have better luck!   We arrived at around 1045 am and were told that the wait for two would only be 15 minutes! Soon after, a phone call was made that bumped us up to three, and the wait was not affected that much. I will say that waiting for a table and not everyone wants to stand outside cause its hot and there is literally three feet of space inside the front door, is a little lame, but when you see that the whole place is super small inside, you kind of get over it and hope the meal is great. (hint: stop hoping-it will be awesome)   All members of our party were accounted for, and the wait was over. We were taken to our table! The dining area has a really homey cozy feel to it, and I love the dark wood with the bright chairs. Our server came over and I liked her right away. Her name is Allie and we soon learned that she's from Tally! She got us set up with drinks and talked to us as if she had known us forever, even sitting down at the table to chat when taking orders. Top notch service.   I was torn. My table mates were torn. There are just SO many options on this menu that seem amazing! I finally went with the biscuits and gravy platter. It comes with two delicious biscuits covered in creamy hot gravy, eggs however you want them, for which I chose scrambled, a meat of your choice, which I did sausage patties and also you can choose between a few different things for a side, and I went with hashbrowns. Ask me why...why oh why..did I feel like I ALSO needed to add a cinnamon roll to the order saying that we could all share it, knowing good and well I didn't need to order anything more! John had the same breakfast as I did, but made some other choices in the flow chart, and Stephen went with the build your own breakfast sandwich option. He had never had chorizo before, and said he liked it!  I will say that the home fries, which I nabbed a taste of from him,  were nice little crunchy bites, and I normally do not like home fries at all, as they are dried out and uninspired..here, they were great! I had orange juice, John a half and half tea, and Stephen a coffee, all were equally enjoyed.   We sat and ate, we talked, we joked, we laughed. We enjoyed that brunch life!!  We were checked on often and Allie made conversation with us before bringing the check and boxes and a to go cup for some tea for the road. We headed up to the register, were super quickly and efficiently checked out and asked how everything was, and we were on our way!   I know there is sometimes a long wait, but I feel like I will be back again to check out some more items on the menu that piqued my interest! read more

Today I took the parents here as they've never tried it. The wait was about 15 minutes which wasn't too bad. We knew the day after Thanksgiving would be busy. I had the avocado toast which is my first time trying this trendy dish. I probably wouldn't order it again but it was still tasty. The tomato and onion was like a salsa and there were crumbles of goat cheese. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The fruit was good but not great. One of our silverwares has a dirty fork, so we had to ask for a replacement. Our server, Ally (spelling?), was so polite and patient. She was lively and personable. Overall good experience and can't wait til they open their next location in St. Augustine! read more

My favorite little breakfast spot by Baptist South! I like to go every couple of months, and I always leave happy. But today was exceptional! The spring special is a Salted Caramel and Banana Pancake and it was the best pancake I have ever had!! I made it a combo with over easy eggs and bacon which were cooked perfectly! My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out for brunch yesterday Sunday 7/21. We've heard a ton of great things. We arrived at noon and had a 20 min wait. There isn't anywhere to wait inside. They have a few chairs and a bench outside. It was 103 with the heat index and very little shade. I saw the hostess bring waters to a group of 5 and she never asked or brought the rest of the people waiting. So I went inside and asked for some. (It would be a nice touch when it's so hot). We waited exactly 20 mins to be seated and we're greeted immediately with our server. I ordered the Douglass which is a skillet and has avocado, cheese (I think Monterey), bacon, turkey, toast, your choice of potato or grits and three eggs cooked your way. I had English muffin,home fries and scrambled and swapped turkey for ham. It was really good. You only get like three slices of avocado and one slice of cheese. It's a lot of food. I also had a large OJ which tasted fine. My boyfriend got the Full French toast with combo. He got bacon and scrambled eggs and regular French toast. He also ordered the strawberry kiwi juice. He said it was good but nothing special. I would say the juices you can by at a grocery store. Nothing super tasty. We wouldn't get the strawberry kiwi for $3 a glass again (no refills). The reason it's missing a star was our server. Once she took our orders she didn't come back to our table until the end. Never checked to see if our food was correct or tasted good. She would do a quick run by and look to see if we needed refills but never slowed down enough for me to cal it to her. I ended up asking someone who was bussing for a refill and extra napkins. All in all it was good but I don't know if we'd drive 20 mins to come back. read more

Stopped by the Canopy Road Cafe for a late breakfast today and had an ok experience. Was a few notes shy of a great visit - started with the cinnamon roll, it is usually amazing but today just ok. The dough was very good but it didn't have a very good cinnamon flavor. I had the Surfer Girl omelet - Fresh spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, cream cheese and onion, topped with fresh avocado, pico de gallo and sour cream. If it wasn't for the raw onions in there it would have been amazing... I'll be back for sure, as I said at the start this is usually a fantastic spot to eat... read more

Solid but not as spectacular has I'd heard on various Facebook groups. I had Eggs Benedict and I enjoyed it. The Canadian bacon was thinner than I'm typically used to, but it was tasty. The hash browns had a nice crunch which added the texture that made it really tasty. They used a little bit of smoked paprika as garnish and it added a nice little surprise too. My wife got a pancake with scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs and bacon were fine, the pancake was good to me, but it was so cloyingly sweet that my wife couldn't eat it. The thing is like cake batter! So sugary and full of vanilla flavor. I liked it but if I had a lot of it, it would have murdered my pancreas. The place is clean, the decor is nice and the service was good. We'll come back and my wife will just try something else. read more

Stopped by for my first time and I wonder why I haven't went sooner. They had chicken and waffles on the menu and they had churro waffles on the menu. I asked the waiter if they can combine the two and they happily did. The size of the chicken and waffles wasn't as large as my appetite (not a bad thing) and so I also ordered their pineapple upside down pancake. Wow! We've passed by this cafe for a few years, and decided to finally stop in for late breakfast. So glad we did! The menu has so many choices, and we needed extra time to decide what to order. The coffee was really good. I enjoyed the Italian avocado toast, and fruit. My husband got pancakes and sausage. He said his pancakes were delicious and they sure looked fluffy, and light. Our meal was served hot, and delicious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. We'll be returning again soon I'm sure. I highly recommend eating here. read more

I am a self professed breakfast junkie. I love it more than most other meals in my day, apart from coffee. I had friends who sung the praises of the Bayard Cafe, which is this spot's predecessor, so the location was familiar. I think it was a Sunday morning when my SO and I found this spot on Yelp when looking for breakfast or brunch spots. I saw the different variety of waffles, pancakes etc on the menu and we did a quick cat bath to get out the door. We arrived and ended up with standing room only for about a 20 or so minute wait. We got a nice 4 top for the 2 of us. I was elated over the small fact that they have iced coffee. My fave cheesy meal is always corned beef hash- so I chose the Hasher plate. The really cool thing is in lieu of a side of toast, you can sub in a single piece of pancake ( big btw!) a piece of french toast or a waffle! My SO tried the breakfast club and has now ordered it X2 its so yummy. There was also a monthly special for cherry cheesecake pancakes we tried on our 2nd visit in June. SO delish! Im excitedly typing this out as we already have plans to get up early and head over for breakfast tomorrow. Give them a shot ! They also offer catering and have EXCELLENT service. read more

Food quality is top notch, however, groups of five or more should consider going elsewhere. I tried to call ahead at 7:30 the morning of our visit to notify staff that we would have nine in our party. After one dropped call and another that went to voice mail, I decided to leave a message. We arrived at 10 am, and I notified the hostess that we would have nine. She was surprised, and she let me know that it would be a 30 minute wait. I later explained to the manager about my call and that I wanted to let them know about our party as a courtesy. He let me know that they don't do call aheads. After a 45 minute wait, we were seated and our waitress promptly took our drink order. Another server almost sat another couple at the table that was to be moved to make our table, but our friend notified the hostess, and it was fixed. Our hostess didn't give us menus, so our server gave us some after a few minutes. Our food didn't arrive until 11:40, but flavors and serving sizes were spot-on! Favorites included the cinnamon roll and the blueberry cobbler pancake with cinnamon streusel. The goat in the garden omelette had large chunks of goat cheese and a hearty amount of spinach. My friend said that it's hard to find good veggie sausage, and hers tasted just like regular sausage. Overall, the food is quite impressive, but next time I'll come with a much smaller group. read more

I really wanted to love this place. After following their social media for awhile and having my mouth water at all the delicious specials I was really excited to bring my out of town friend here for lunch on a Thursday. We came in expecting a delicious boutique local lunch/brunch experience and what we got was a glorified diner experience. The first thing that hit me was the atmosphere and how dirty the floor was- sugar packet papers and bits of dropped food littered the floor near our table. It's a Wide open dining room with tables and bright blue chairs but no real ambiance to speak of. Our server was sweet but her shorts were shockingly SHORT- on par with Hooters attire. So before we even ordered I was already rethinking my restaurant selection for those reasons. I ordered an omelette with home fries and a biscuit and my guest ordered a salad. The salad was large and looked fresh but the dressing was Ken's packets tossed in the side of the bowl on top of the lettuce. My omelette was tasty but the home fries were just fried little potato cubes with no seasoning or other accoutrements such as pepper or onion. The biscuit was reminiscent of a Pillsbury biscuit- the kind out of the cardboard tube. It didn't wow me in any way and had a fake butter flavor. The three stars: 1 for the omelette, 1 for the diversity of the menu and that it had lots of vegetarian options, 1 for the hope that if I (ever) go back for one of their tantalizing looking cinnamon buns that it tastes way better than the biscuit. read more
