Did ya girl go way out the way for Sunday brunch even when there's dozens a places she could've gone to within 3 miles of her home? Yes, yes I did. The buzz surrounding this place made me super curious and I needed to find the right time to go. Luckily that time came and it didn't take much convincing of my Mom to join me. Not being able to make reservations for a small restaurant worried me a bit, after all, it was the weekend and everyone loves brunch. But after a 20 mile drive, finding a parking spot close to the door and waiting approximately 5 minutes we were at a table with a server ready to take our drink orders. She spoke about how hectic it had been since they opened but everything was running smoothly. I got a coffee and an orange juice, which I had expected to be in a glass but it was in a regular personal-sized bottle. The coffee was really good. I believe the brand was Lucky Goat. My caffeine tolerance is kinda high so I was able to throw back two and a half cups. Mom got a sweet tea with lemon was she really liked. To eat, I had a hard time deciding between an omelette or a skillet but ultimately got The Beebee Skillet (eggs any style, sauteed onions, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, and cheese) on top of home fries and a side of cinnamon raisin toast. It sounded good and I'd never had zucchini with a breakfast item before. Mom got The Basic Omelette (eggs, cheese with a meat or veggie) but I don't recall what she got in it. Oops. I do remember that she chose a fruit cup as a side with a biscuit. While we waited we looked around and commented on the decor. I liked the little wall divider that you see when first coming in with little plants on it. Fake plants or not, I liked how it made me feel. She pointed out the dark ceilings and the lightning and how it was just bright enough for the atmosphere. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time and we descended upon our plates. My skillet was not served on a skillet and I actually like it that way, no mouth burns. The portion size was perfect and I was able to eat it all without feeling stuffed. She enjoyed here omelette but really enjoyed the biscuit, which I was surprised that she even ordered. Toast is usually her go-to but I figured I'd let her live her best foodie life. Our Server was great and kept checking on us periodically. I would really like to return to this place again because there's so many other items I'd like to try. We went here for breakfast today for most of us it was the first time. The aesthetic's inside are very inviting and I love the color of the chairs, very 50s! One thing that I truly value and appreciate is the vegetarian sausage on their menu, this is the first place I found that has it. That is the reason why they got the four stars because they had something great on the menu that I could eat. The omelette was OK I'm not a fan of the paper thin omelettes personally. The potatoes may be fresh but my guesstimation is they were frozen and then just put on the grill. The wait staff were all very young, millennial's. Though nothing wrong with that they were not very communicative, very robotic in fact. No asking what do you need thank how are you today what else can I get you how was it going rather very methodical and that's what kept it from being a 5star today. read more

I'm torn about CRC. The food is good and the staff is friendly but the portions have gotten small and the prices are expensive - $4 for a coke! So if you have money to burn, I'd say still go there, but if not, there are plenty of other economical, but still good, choices. read more

I never leave a negative review, but the only star I could allow was for the pleasant greeting at the door from the kind host. Was eyed multiple times by staff but never approached our table after sitting for maybe 10mins. Sat watching many other people come in and their tables being attended to with drink orders. I could be assuming, but my daughter and I walked in with our drinks from another establishment. My free drink from my birthday as my daughter wanted to treat me to brunch on my 50th and we pulled thru to get my freebie. I would have happily taken it back to the car to melt in the heat had I known that was an issue. But again, I may be assuming. We left disgusted by no sincere efforts after sitting watching others order being taken after they were seated after us. Watched a guy from behind the counter offer the table directly next to us more coffee without a glance in our direction. She forgot her bag and fortunately the gentleman that greeted us captured it until we returned. He apologized for the previous visit stating they were between shifts. It was a little after 11am. We've both eaten here a couple times and been a pretty special place for those reasons. Food was excellent then and the reason we returned. However, the way an establishment makes you feel speaks volumes. Drove to this location past another closer to us because of previous visits. Sadly, will mark this off the list and look for better establishments treating locals with more southern hospitality. As a FL native, not worth the recommendation. read more

Finally had the chance to try out this new, hot brunch place. Needless to say, the buzz is alive for Canopy Road Café. Canopy serves your typical Brunch items that you are accustomed with, but they also carry creative Brunch foods and dishes.   After much menu deliberation, the wifey and I decided to order.. The Hasher, The Roger and a side of Cinnamon Roll.   Taste Impressions.... While both main dishes were very tasty and cooked just right, the highlight of our Brunch belonged to the Cinnamon Roll. Canopy's Cinnamon Roll became my all-time favorite Cinnamon Roll I have ever tasted. Their Cinnamon Roll is almost cakelike in a way and it's icing was just right and tolerable for me; not overly sweet like most cinnamon rolls I've tasted.   Quite honestly... it should've been called CinnaMOAN because that's exactly what it will do to you per each bite. The wife and I demonstrated the true meaning of Food Porn was really like. We moaned and groaned at every bite. People were staring at us, while some Moms covered their kids ears. We didn't care because all the love at that moment was focused on the the Cinnamon Roll. Sooo yummy!!!   But with all the kidding aside, we plan to and will definitely be coming back to Canopy again.   Lastly, special shout out and kudos to the young, energetic, attentive Canopy staff. We finally tried this place last week. The long-awaited anticipation has finally come to an end! Located in a small plaza at the intersection of Philips Highway and Old St Augustine Road the place was not hard to find. Inside it is very clean and seats about 50 people. We were greeted and seated quickly. Looking over the menu I was so overwhelmed with all the mouthwatering items they had to offer. My indecisiveness started to kick in. Do I want something sweet or salty? I opted for both. I ended up ordering the Cinnamon Roll and The Roger. Both were AMAZING! The Cinnamon Roll was delightfully delicious! The roll was moist and melted in your mouth. The icing on top was warm and sweet which was an added bonus to this irresistible pastry. The Roger was savory and hearty. I was not able to finish and ended up boxing the rest to go. I ate it the next day for breakfast and I must say it was just as good as the day I ordered it. This is not your ordinary brunch place. The menu has traditional breakfast and lunch items but with a modern twist. The prices are very reasonable for the generous portions they serve. There are so many things I still want to try. Great food, great service and great prices...what more can you ask for? This was our first visit and will definitely not be the last! I can't wait to go back! read more

We gave her our telephone number and just walked around the stores in the plaza. She called us within 30mins! This made us happy because we were starving. The server was nice, no issues. Because we were so hungry we were scared the food would take forever but it came out pretty quick! The food did not disappoint. We were craving a simple breakfast and it definitely hit the spot. With a 15 minute wait greeting us, the girls and I decided to check out Pineapple Creative Boutique in the same plaza. The buzzer does work to that distance and the shop is filled with adorable items that are great for last minute gift giving! After being seated the service was prompt and friendly. Armed with the knowledge that the girls would let me taste their meals, I settled for a build your own skillet. Vegan Sausage, Mushrooms, Onions, Olives served over hash browns with Rye Toast and three eggs over easy. This monster of a plate had tremendous flavors and was oh so filling! I ended up boxing the remaining half for my hubby to enjoy later. He inhaled it in 3 seconds flat. A testimony to how delicious the food is! The service was great but the food was just average at best. They were out of grits and the sauce to make Nashville hot chicken. My omelet was flat not fluffy and looked all almost white. I couldn't even taste the goat cheese and the omelet had uncut strip of bacon in it. The hash browns were cold and the toast was no longer toasted. Hands down the smoothest coffee I have ever had in a brunch spot. You can order it from Tampa! They're known for their waffles & pancakes- which is a must, & I have to say that theirs is pretty top notch compared to others. They serve other typical breakfast items, like cheese grits, omelettes, etc, & I wouldn't say that those in particular stand out too much, but the other items mentioned above are amazing & that's what makes them stand out from others. They have seasonal pancakes too. We got the hot chocolate pancakes & the gingerbread pancakes- both amazing. I Stopped by for a quick lunch and the staff was all super helpful and amazing. I snapped a picture after I started eating. Oops I got the country fried steak skillet , eggs over easy, and extra crispy home fries. It was tasted great with the fresh biscuit and my eggs perfectly cooked with the yolk stilll creamy. The gravy was a little bit salty so I'd order that on the side next time. I'd also order the gravy on the side if you do take out so that it's not mushy by the time you get home. I had this fresh however and the homefries and steak were perfectly crisp. The skillet comes with 3 eggs instead of 2 in the country fried steak meal. It also has onions and the steak was chopped up into bite sized pieces. I'm not sure if you get more steak in the meal compared to the skillet. I'd definitely come back to try this place, especially the two other places that they're going to open up in Jacksonville. (They are a chain that is based in Tallahassee .) read more

Came to visit a friend who lives in the area, and we she told me about this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. I ordered The Hasher and substituted my toast for the churro waffle. The corned beef hash was prepared crispy just like i like it. The cheese eggs were great. The cheese grits needed some help; after I added some additional butter, salt, and pepper they were ok. But the star of the show was indeed the churro waffle. It was phenomenal. Crispy on the outside and still soft on the inside. The flavor was out of this world. I would come back just to eat the waffle. Definitely a must try! Overall a pretty good dining experience. read more

My daughter and I recently had breakfast here two weekends in a row. The first time we went we loved it! Everything about our experience was great: the food, service, cleanliness. However, our most recent trip was extremely disappointing. The table where we were seated had crumbs all over the chairs and the floor beneath us was filthy. We ordered the cinnamon roll as an appetizer for the table (there were four of us) and when the server brought out four plates so that we could cut and share the cinnamon roll, the plates were all dirty and soaking wet from the dishwasher that hadn't cleaned the dishes. He apologized and went back to get some more plates. He brought out another four stacked plates that were also dirty and had remnants of old, crusted food. At that point we were pretty disgusted and skeptical about the cleanliness of any plate we may receive. The meals were then delivered and were all just ok. We've found Canopy Road to be completely hit or miss through the times we've been. It's a shame because the menu is great and when they're "on" it's really good. It's worth a try if you happen to visit on a day where the dishwasher is working and the cooks are paying attention. read more

The food is never disappointing! The restaurant closest to us is a little small so there's usually a wait, and the wait staff is normally very casual. This is fine, but a few of them looked like they just rolled out of bed which for some reason sticks in my head when I'm eating. However, the service is always great and the food is phenomenal! If you can get a table, it is worth the wait! They have a little bit for everybody. Healthy food for those on a diet, heavy sweet food for those on vacation, and a ton of egg dishes! We had been before when it was the other diner. We had a bad experience then, so it took a lot of convincing to bring my boyfriend back to try Canopy Road. Thankfully we had a redeeming experience! We were able to walk in and sit at the bar near the kitchen. One of the brothers who owns the place came over and took our orders for us. I decided to try the chicken bacon sandwich and my boyfriend ordered a burger. Our food came out quickly and was hot from the start. It tasted so good and fresh and it filled us up immediately. I suggest a side order of their sweet potato fries, although they should give you more considering how delicious they are. This was a lazy Sunday morning "let's get brunch" find in the neighborhood. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed of getting us seated at a peak brunch hour. I guess having a party of two helped, but, If you plan to go here with a larger party- you'd want to call ahead. Everything on the menu looked delicious, and I really enjoyed my avocado toast with fried eggs and hash-browns. The mega French toast with bananas and pecans for the S/O was delicious too. The reason for 3 stars is, because we were seated close to the restroom (guess we got that for being seated 'quick'). Also, the tables are placed pretty close to each other, so it got loud and hard to have private conversations without accidentally eavesdropping or being eavesdropped on. My husband had the sticky bun pancake...a huge, fluffy pancake topped with creamy icing and a warm, sweet glaze. I had the veggie wrap; filled with crispy cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, salad greens, and a balsamic dressing. My daughter went with the Shrimp Po' Boy. It was far from poor. A HUGE sub roll stuffed with crispy fried shrimp. One of the best things about Canopy Road is that they serve their full menu ALL DAY. Read that again: ALL DAY. Classic breakfast joint with better food quality than the average cafe. I usually get the simple stuff: cheese grits, hormel hash, eggs and they are all delicious. Sometimes I'll got for a Benedict which are excellent. Great vibe at the counter. The TV either has business news during the week or sports on the weekend. The regulars are easy to get to know and chat with about the lastest in their lives and the world. Service is top notch. read more
