The first visit was on a Saturday and there was a wait but it wasn't too long at all which was great because there were A LOT of people waiting. The food is delicious with a huge menu for all tastes. The omelettes are great and the grits are super creamy, which is how I like them. The service was excellent each time. Been hearing great things about this restaurant for awhile and finally planned a Saturday morning to get in here. Arrived at 845am and the place was packed, it was a short wait for a table and the hostess staff was awesome! Shout out to the young man working that station, very kind and thoughtful. Our waiter came by quickly after we were seated, took our drink order. I ordered the Goat in the Garden omelette with hash browns and a biscuit. My dad ordered the Special, scrambled eggs, bacon, grits & biscuit. The food was quick, fresh, well seasoned and oh so yummy. First visit! I took my recently turned teenage daughter to breakfast last Sunday and had high expectations from the reviews. Super friendly and it was our waitress' first day. We ordered TOO much by accident and attempted to turn off the plain waffles when the pancakes came out first and "couldn't." When we were ready to go the waitress asked for feedback and I recommended she let first-timers know when they order too much to make better choices. Cookies and cream pancakes, eggs and Bacon were great. However, the waffles we had to take should have been sent back because they literally tasted like Hilton hotel waffles and had no character. We were bummed that the Bayard Cafe closed since it was convenient to go to. Saw that this new cafe opened up and got excited! We went last Saturday and we had a good experience. Our server forgot to remove tomatoes from my food but owned up to it which I appreciated besides I think it was just their soft opening. First time not last time. Late breakfast started with blueberry pancake followed by The Skeeter. Hash browns topped with biscuit and gravy topped with country fried steak and topped off with three sunny side up eggs. It was all delicious. Cole did a great job of ensuring I was well taken care of with his excellent friendly service. Food came out fast. Entire place was very clean. Nice clientele. Oh yea, the coffee was excellent. It's a cute little cafe. It's not too big inside, so we did wait a little for a table, but nothing crazy. The food was good, but the absolute best thing was the cinnamon rolls!! So happy to see Canopy Road expand to Jacksonville. I went to school in Tallahassee and Canopy Road was the go-to brunch spot. My all time favorite item to order is the Sweet Potato Pancakes. They are scrumptious and the praline sauce is on point. I've been trying to expand my menu choosing since they opened here in Jax. The Morning Monte Cristo is delicious too. The sandwiches are incredible! Always crowded which is a good sign. Everything is fresh. Since they promote a breakfast and lunch style menu they need a Tuna sandwich and salad. Every café and deli has some tuna option. Also, being form up North I prefer spicy mustard ( not Dijon, yellow, or honey mustard ) and it cost $2 to carry a bottle from Publix. Once requested any deli should buy one and have it around. I think it is a Jacksonville thing since most deli's in the area don't carry true spicy mustard. I would definitely recommend this café!!! read more

Bright and sunny, hip music with great service. We had sweet potato pancakes, there were 4-5 different unique pancakes I would like to try. The sweet potato pancakes were good and fun. We had a Belgium waffle that was good too. Nice presentation. We ordered a side of bacon that was thick and crisp to perfection. We enjoyed our experience. Fun place. Simply put, the menu describes food that I didn't get. Kids meal described as french toast sticks and fruit for 4.99- it was one piece of French toast (aka one piece of bread) cut into strips with two blueberries and a quarter of one strawberry and i paid extra for my kids drink...not cool. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich on a bagel, which was very good, but his side of grits were clearly instant. Lastly my avacado toast was just tragic and inedible. The "avacado" is store bought guacamole which was clearly old bc it tasted rancid and was brownish in color. If the "avacado" wasn't bad enough it was advertised to have goat cheese which was non existent and the tomatoes were over powered by large chunks of raw onion. The service was good and since my meal couldn't be eaten they took it off the bill...i think considering the situation they should have comped more. We had a to-go brunch from here on a weekend and thank goodness we did! The place was packed (it is small inside) and there were several groups waiting outside. I overheard the hostess say there was an hour wait...no thanks when I'm hungry! We ordered a seasonal pancake stack with blueberry streusel and a chicken biscuit plate. I loved the pancakes. They had just the right amount of sweetness and lightness without being too dense or heavy. My husband thought the chicken biscuit was okay and I agreed. It was a bit on the drier side. If we both hadn't had Maple Street biscuit company (sorry I have to compare) it would have been good. But, seeing as Maple Street is SO good, we were not impressed with the chicken biscuit here. When there are many options for breakfast/lunch in town and a new kid comes to "play", it better be as good or better than the competition. Unfortunately, this place falls short. Upon ordering our drinks, our server who was very pleasant, brought coffees and waters. There was a silver bucket on the table for creamers that was empty. We had to flag down a bus boy to refill the bucket with creamers. We placed our order, including omelets, sandwiches, and egg dishes with pancakes. The pancakes were not served with butter or syrup. We had to wait for the server to return to bring it. When she returned, the butter was the little one serving cups and the syrup was in to-go cups. The butter was the cheap non-refrigerated kind, and the syrup tasted like it was right out of the Aunt Jemima bottle. The person responding to feedback should be more appreciative of constructive comments. That's how you make adjustments and stay in business. read more

The wait here is usually long so my husband and I went the day after Christmas at 9 am and we're seated right away. We both ordered from the seasonal menu- I ordered the peppermint pancakes and my husband ordered a cinnamon roll burger that came with a side of potatoes, he chose hash browns. The peppermint pancakes were good and had a strong peppermint taste (a little too much for me but I definitely got what I ordered so that's on me). Both were a little burnt on the bottom but it's probably harder to tell with chocolate batter and might be harder to cook with peppermint I would think? The peppermint pieces aren't hard, they melt in your mouth which was a great surprise. I tried my husband's meal- the burger was an interesting combo but the cinnamon roll definitely overpowered the burger and the hash browns were a little underdone. Our server was nice and came by several times to check on us. This restaurant is talked about highly but every time I've come I've left feeling underwhelmed compared to what it has been hyped up to be. read more
