Well, I finally made it back and based on this visit, Canopy Road made me a believer. Prime time on a Sunday and the place had solid traffic. We were seated after a short wait and service was spot on. Based on other reviews, I knew I was ordering something from the griddle. Between the fat Elvis pancakes and bananas foster French toast I went with the French toast. Half an order is 2 hearty slices of bread while a whole order is 3 slices. Tallahassee math maybe? Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning and had about a 15 minute wait for a party of two. The cafe is pretty small with limited seating, so 15 minutes didn't seem too bad. The servers were very attentive and service was quick. I ordered a half portion of the biscuits and gravy with bacon. It was very tasty, would have preferred more sausage in the sausage gravy though. My husband ordered French toast and he loved it. The coffee was good, but not extraordinary. Would return as they have a very extensive breakfast menu. read more

The second was a response to the customer service rep who responded and the absence of a response from the corporate office. After some further research I was finally able to reach Mr. Brad B. one of the owners of the chain of Canopy Road Cafe as well as other dining establishments. As you can see from my five stars, this conversation has been impactful. We had a far reaching discussion that demonstrated Brad's integrity and passion for doing the right thing. He was also upset to consider that someone might have felt slighted due to any possible bias. He acknowledged my concerns in my first review and addressed all of them in my second review in a thorough and impassioned manner. Perhaps of greatest importance, he gave a heartfelt apology. And these days that can be rare. People will often apologize to appease the customer. Not Brad. He took time out of his very busy schedule to respond via email to our exchange in a prompt and sincere manner. He made it very clear as to how upsetting this review was and attempted to rectify my experience in every way possible. For that he deserves five stars! So if you've read my prior reviews I suggest you also take this review into account regarding the sincerity and passion of this owner. As he said and I agree, it was our one and only experience at his place and everyone deserves a second chance to make right an experience. We tried this place for the good reviews about their pancakes, when we walked in we were seated right away and the server was prompt in taking our order. The food came out warm, however there were some things that were less than perfect. The highly reviewed pancakes were really just ok, not as fluffy as I would have anticipated, the syrup was delicious. I had ordered the BLT Benedict but was presented with a regular Benedict. The food took a while to arrive so it wasn't worth asking for it to be remake. The coffee was also just ok. Overall, the food was not worth returning for, but has a lot of potential! read more

I was very excited about this cafe given the reviews, but my experience left lots to be desired. I had the Goat in the Garden omelette with home fries. The omelette itself was filled with veggies and goat cheese. The egg was a tiny bit runny inside, which I wasn't a fan of. The home fries were alright. The dish came with a slice of toast (a variety to pick from). My cinnamon bread was a bit on the over-toasted side. Overall, the food was average. Most of the servers seem like they are high school or young college kids. They provided great service and it seems like the place gets a lot of regulars. All servers wore masks except for the two gentlemen running the register. One didn't wear one at all and the other removed his just about every other minute. I actually believe they might manage the cafe, which doesn't set a good example for other employees. Given that the cafe is in a shopping center, there is plenty of parking. read more

My friends have been raving about Canopy Road and I finally got to try it!! We were sat at a nice table with ample room next to other guests. We both started with the coffee. I can't remember the brewer but holy cow, it was amazing!! Bold, robust flavor!! I had the Douglas skillet and my girlfriend had the bananas foster French toast! My skillet was amazing, home fries topped with avocado, bacon, turkey, and cheddar cheese. Then two over medium eggs laid beautifully atop then. IT WAS AMAZING! Everything complimented each other very well! I will absolutely order that again! My friends den g toast was scrumptious and rich! I loved the pralines and sauce. It was so decadent! 2 slices were absolutely sufficient, due to its rich taste. Our server was Khole and he was absolutely wonderful. He was prompt with our orders and refilling our coffees! WOW! Oh My YUM! Every time we have tried to try this place it has been full, but we finally got lucky. Clearly, there is a reason why they are always busy...it is absolutely delicious! To me, breakfast is breakfast...it's hard to "wow" me with breakfast, but this place did it! They put a twist on regular breakfast food that makes you want to try everything on the menu. Everything is/was so good...if I wasn't in public I would have licked my plate! Lucky for me, I go with my husband and son so we all ordered something different so we could try each other's food. It was all good...wonderful! But I must say, that Cap'n Crunch French Toast is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! As for the other stuff: You seat yourself when you walk in, but they do greet you and keep an eye on you. If you don't see a table, one of the staff members will direct you to one. There are a few tables outside as well, but I assume that is to wait just in case there isn't a table available inside. There is seating at the bar as well. Speaking of the staff, they are all super friendly and very attentive. Plus, they can make great recommendations if you can't decide (it's hard to decide on your first trip...trust me). The food comes out in a timely manner...rather quickly considering how busy they are (woot!). The restaurant is located on the corner of Old St. Augustine Rd. and US 1. If you are sitting at the traffic light you are practically there. There is a large shared parking lot with plenty of parking. It is off the beaten path (for the lack of a better term), but make no mistake...it's worth the trip! We will definitely go back for breakfast, but we are looking forward to trying them out for lunch. Decided to try this place put after a friend went and said their Spring Special Pancakes (Salted Caramel + Banana) were delicious. So my husband, one of my daughters and I made plans to meet here at 11am on Sunday. There was a wait, about 45 minutes. We got in and were seated at a corner table. It is not an especially large space, but we also didn't feel crowded either. We ordered and our food was served in a timely fashion. We ordered a Cabo BLT, a cheesesteak and a fried chicken sandwich. It's the same as Tallahassee-good AF. I brought my BFF here for lunch and she is the ultimate in picky eaters, but I knew this was her kind of place. So many breakfast choices and who doesn't love a great breakfast. We decided to each get a different meal and split the food so we could try different things. The combo of meals had us each trying the Biscuits (fluffy and tender) and sausage gravy - Perfection, Country Fried Steak and Gravy - crispy on the outside, tender inside and that yummy gravy on top - Most amazing, the bowl of grits is huge, the home fries potatoes are tender yet crispy, bacon crispy and not too salty, Eggs cooked to perfection. I stopped at Canopy Road Cafe with my wife for breakfast on a Saturday morning. When we arrived, we were told there would be a 35 minute wait, but we were lucky enough to be seated in 5-10 minutes. It's a typical small cafe/diner with a counter and tables along with some outdoor seating. Our waitress quickly brought me coffee and took our orders- I ordered a breakfast quesadilla with hash browns and a pancake on the side, while my wife ordered country fried steak. The visit was totally worth it for the pancake alone. It was large (of course, it's a diner), fluffy, crispy on the outside and pleasantly sweet due to the powdered sugar on top. It was absolutely amazing. Seriously. The breakfast quesadilla was solid, all of your breakfast favorites in a convenient grilled quesadilla: eggs, cheese, bacon, and peppers and onions. The hash browns were crispy and tasty. While the quesadilla was good, I'll opt for more pancakes or waffles the next time. My wife enjoyed her country fried steak, her diner go to dish, but I noticed that the portion was on the smaller side (at least compared to the gigantic size of IHOP's). The service was outstanding, from the hostess, to our server, and the food runner. Our waitress was friendly and checked in on us frequently. And she offered me a coffee to go when giving us the check, which I happily took her up on. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for a tasty breakfast, give Canopy Road Cafe a shot (particularly if the wait isn't too long). Stopped here on a Sunday morning before running some errands, and due to not having the Nugget with us, we bypassed a 30 minute wait and scored a seat at the bar area (listen, I love going places with the Nugget, but sometimes it's nice not to have to request a table and highchair). I looked over the menu and then checked out their fall specials. I really debated between the Count Chocula French Toast or the Sticky Chicky, and in the end the Sticky Chicky won out. Why? Because I was feeling something sweet and savory, so I figured the Sticky Chicky killed two birds with one stone (no pun intended). Our server was super quick and efficient. I ordered an iced coffee. I like Canopy Road for a lot of reasons, but one of my favorite reasons is they don't skimp on the size of the iced coffee you get. It's literally the size that the water comes in, so it's a very generous portion and the coffee is on point being super robust and flavorful. My sticky chicky came out with potatoes and I apparently didn't read the menu because I thought I'd receive one chicken biscuit, but to my surprise there were two, which for this little lady is a hefty portion. I bit into the chicken biscuit and it was great. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the crust was crisp and perfectly fried. The apple butter was a great addition, adding a sweet element, plus it reminds me of fall in NY, so that's always a bonus. The bacon was perfectly crisp and added a touch of saltiness that my tastebuds were craving. The biscuits were fresh, warm, and soft. The potatoes were perfectly fried and seasoned. Wonderful little breakfast spot! Hubby and I stopped by last weekend and had brunch at the bar. Our server was very nice and the service was quick. I don't think we waited more than 8 minutes for our food. I was trying to stay lower carb so I ordered the meat lovers omelette with wheat toast and no potatoes. I loved how thin the omelette was cooked, all the breakfast meats and cheese were folded inside. Too many times you order an omelette, it's overly eggy and thick - not this one! The bacon was perfectly crisp, the ham was grilled up and the American cheese pulled it all together. Very yummy! Hubby took a few bites and really liked it even though he's not a fan of omelettes. Did ya girl go way out the way for Sunday brunch even when there's dozens a places she could've gone to within 3 miles of her home? Yes, yes I did. The buzz surrounding this place made me super curious and I needed to find the right time to go. Luckily that time came and it didn't take much convincing of my Mom to join me. Not being able to make reservations for a small restaurant worried me a bit, after all, it was the weekend and everyone loves brunch. But after a 20 mile drive, finding a parking spot close to the door and waiting approximately 5 minutes we were at a table with a server ready to take our drink orders. She spoke about how hectic it had been since they opened but everything was running smoothly. I got a coffee and an orange juice, which I had expected to be in a glass but it was in a regular personal-sized bottle. The coffee was really good. I believe the brand was Lucky Goat. My caffeine tolerance is kinda high so I was able to throw back two and a half cups. Mom got a sweet tea with lemon was she really liked. To eat, I had a hard time deciding between an omelette or a skillet but ultimately got The Beebee Skillet (eggs any style, sauteed onions, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, and cheese) on top of home fries and a side of cinnamon raisin toast. It sounded good and I'd never had zucchini with a breakfast item before. Mom got The Basic Omelette (eggs, cheese with a meat or veggie) but I don't recall what she got in it. Oops. I do remember that she chose a fruit cup as a side with a biscuit. While we waited we looked around and commented on the decor. I liked the little wall divider that you see when first coming in with little plants on it. Fake plants or not, I liked how it made me feel. She pointed out the dark ceilings and the lightning and how it was just bright enough for the atmosphere. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time and we descended upon our plates. My skillet was not served on a skillet and I actually like it that way, no mouth burns. The portion size was perfect and I was able to eat it all without feeling stuffed. She enjoyed here omelette but really enjoyed the biscuit, which I was surprised that she even ordered. Toast is usually her go-to but I figured I'd let her live her best foodie life. Our Server was great and kept checking on us periodically. I would really like to return to this place again because there's so many other items I'd like to try. We went here for breakfast today for most of us it was the first time. The aesthetic's inside are very inviting and I love the color of the chairs, very 50s! One thing that I truly value and appreciate is the vegetarian sausage on their menu, this is the first place I found that has it. That is the reason why they got the four stars because they had something great on the menu that I could eat. The omelette was OK I'm not a fan of the paper thin omelettes personally. The potatoes may be fresh but my guesstimation is they were frozen and then just put on the grill. The wait staff were all very young, millennial's. Though nothing wrong with that they were not very communicative, very robotic in fact. No asking what do you need thank how are you today what else can I get you how was it going rather very methodical and that's what kept it from being a 5star today. read more

This little breakfast spot has been a favorite of me and my girlfriend for the longest time. This has been "our spot" for awhile and there's a good reason for that. Every time we enter the establishment we are welcomed by a warm and vibrant scene; people idly chatting at the bar over cups of always filled coffee, friends laughing over bright yellow eggs with crispy bacon, and humanity coming together for a short time to just be happy. The food has never let us down (we do get the same thing every time though) my highest praise goes to the talented kitchen staff that somehow manages to make the same taste never get old. Our server James has waited on us several times and always greets us with a warm smile;he makes the experience one where we feel welcome and comfortable. Went on a weekend around 8 am, it's definitely busy. If you are not a big group, it was faster to get a seat at the bar. We tried their ham and cheese omelet, pork sausage chorizo, berries n cream french toast, home fries. It was delicious. Their home fries was perfectly seasoned. The omelet was cooked just right. They have a wide selection of cheese. The french toast was not overwhelmingly sweet. Our server was attentive considering it was very busy. Only thing odd was being approached by someone and we were asked if we were in the list to sit at the bar considering we were already asked for our orders by our server. And the maitre d' said we didn't have to be in the list since we opted to sit at the bar. Just like other cafes, it's most of the time, usually bar seating is sit at any available seat. Overall, we will definitely return. Thankful for a closer to home cafe. read more

Finally had the chance to try out this new, hot brunch place. Needless to say, the buzz is alive for Canopy Road Café. Canopy serves your typical Brunch items that you are accustomed with, but they also carry creative Brunch foods and dishes.   After much menu deliberation, the wifey and I decided to order.. The Hasher, The Roger and a side of Cinnamon Roll.   Taste Impressions.... While both main dishes were very tasty and cooked just right, the highlight of our Brunch belonged to the Cinnamon Roll. Canopy's Cinnamon Roll became my all-time favorite Cinnamon Roll I have ever tasted. Their Cinnamon Roll is almost cakelike in a way and it's icing was just right and tolerable for me; not overly sweet like most cinnamon rolls I've tasted.   Quite honestly... it should've been called CinnaMOAN because that's exactly what it will do to you per each bite. The wife and I demonstrated the true meaning of Food Porn was really like. We moaned and groaned at every bite. People were staring at us, while some Moms covered their kids ears. We didn't care because all the love at that moment was focused on the the Cinnamon Roll. Sooo yummy!!!   But with all the kidding aside, we plan to and will definitely be coming back to Canopy again.   Lastly, special shout out and kudos to the young, energetic, attentive Canopy staff. We finally tried this place last week. The long-awaited anticipation has finally come to an end! Located in a small plaza at the intersection of Philips Highway and Old St Augustine Road the place was not hard to find. Inside it is very clean and seats about 50 people. We were greeted and seated quickly. Looking over the menu I was so overwhelmed with all the mouthwatering items they had to offer. My indecisiveness started to kick in. Do I want something sweet or salty? I opted for both. I ended up ordering the Cinnamon Roll and The Roger. Both were AMAZING! The Cinnamon Roll was delightfully delicious! The roll was moist and melted in your mouth. The icing on top was warm and sweet which was an added bonus to this irresistible pastry. The Roger was savory and hearty. I was not able to finish and ended up boxing the rest to go. I ate it the next day for breakfast and I must say it was just as good as the day I ordered it. This is not your ordinary brunch place. The menu has traditional breakfast and lunch items but with a modern twist. The prices are very reasonable for the generous portions they serve. There are so many things I still want to try.
