I'm giving this place the 2 stars for lack of service at the front desk and in ordering take-out. There are two numbers I called and both had me on hold and then asked me to leave a message. I gave my order and drove there. Upon arrival I was told that they do NOT pick up any messages. What kind of place does that? This is the second time that I have been disappointed. The service is very good. The food is delicious; however, as much as the service and the food is enticing, I won't return until the 3% surcharge is revoked for people who use debit/credit cards, instead of paying with cash. There is a sign on their menus that this stupidity is effective as of 1/1/22. I have heard of places adding a surcharge when it's under a certain amount (spend over ____ and fee is waived), or if it's a large party, but I've never heard of it being applied to every single order. FYI- not everyone carries cash. What a rip off! I already make a 40 minute drive to go eat there. That's just a slap in the face and unappreciation towards your loyal customers. read more

I know restaurants are short on staff right now, but the few they had on staff completely ignored us and helped tables that were sat way before we were. I mentioned it to the hostess and she offered no apology or urgency to fix anything. I have waited on tables for over ten years and I always at least acknowledged tables if I could not get to them immediately. Canton Bistro is one of my go to order-in places. I usually order Orange chicken and/or broccoli & beef, with veggie lo-mein, and edamame. It's such a good portion of food, love that we always have leftovers. Pickup is such a breeze they always have extra sauces and chili paste ready to go. When we do dine in, the service is great, very timely when taking your order. It's been pretty busy when we go but, it's never overly loud or overwhelming. read more

This used to be a place that I enjoyed visiting to get Chinese food. I hadn't visited in a long time and decided to stop by. The restaurant environment looked run down, dusty and dirty. My table had grimy sticky stuff on it. The wait staff was great as our server came and cleaned the area and refilled our drinks. The food was not as good as I had remembered. We had ordered 2 lunch orders of orange chicken and basil chicken. The egg flower soup had very little egg in it. The basil chicken was ok. The orange chicken was not. Sadly, the people who ordered the orange chicken said it tasted like it was microwaved. They did not eat it and did not box it it to take home. To add, the prices of the lunch special was a lot more than I remembered. It was pricey for what we ordered. This is my last visit at this restaurant as there are others that offer fresh food in a clean atmosphere. read more

It closes at 9:30 but at 8:50 you stand at the "please wait to be seated" sign as 4 servers deal with 4 tables... finally one comes up and says "booth of table" and starts to lead us to our seats with menus, but this bitch waitress barks across the restaurant at him "takeout only." I I rdered a lot of food for a birthday party through DoorDash. When it didn't arrive on time I checked and it showed that it wasn't coming for three more days (my bad on the order date). Jason from bistro called me to see that I had placed a second order for the same items and confirmed my delivery address. He said they couldn't seem to get a door Dash delivery person quick enough for me so he brought it to our party directly, after telling me how important it was for them to take care of their customers during this uncertain time. I was part of a party of 7 on a very busy Saturday night. The wait to sit was reasonable and ordering took a little longer than I would have liked. This explains the 4 instead of 5 star. The food is amazing. Walking in the aroma was unlike any place I' e been since I was a kid visiting the best of China Town, SF. I think modern cost cutting meats and oils have diminished US Chinese food in general. Not here. Orange chicken, spring rolls, crab rangoon, fried rice, and every dish was perfect. The service was decent and obviously well intentioned. Its hard to criticize glitches when busy. It was adequate and worth a good tip. We've been eating here for years. Food is always good as well as the service, but our experience Monday night (March 15, 2021) was disappointing. We arrived at 7:00 PM, ordered from an extremely nice waitress. Our food and drink order was perfect and as the next hour progressed she checked on us regularly and it was a very pleasant experience. When we were done eating my wife and I routinely share a glass of plumb wine with our fortune cookies. As we waited for the waitress to return, a male waiter who we recognized from our many visits came over with our check. I asked him to not close out our bill yet as we would like a glass of plumb wine. He then abruptly said "We have no plumb wine it's closing time!" I then said to him " You don't have plumb wine or you're refusing to serve us?" He then put our check on the table and said, "We close at 8:00, it's 8:00, it's time for us to close and for you to go!" I really couldn't believe my ears. I said "You've got to be joking!" He replied "No, time to go!" Needless to say my wife and I got up from the table and left. Two hours for two adults and one toddler. One drink and three waters. We asked for a kids menu. None, but he recommended the chicken fingers appetizer. It came and we asked for ketchup for the kiddo. No go. We had a plate full of wasted chicken. At this time our waters and drink were empty. I asked him for a refill and watched him help four other tables. I asked him again and no go. He came back to our neighbors and I asked again interrupting him to let it be know we've been waiting 30 minutes for a water refill. Then the rest of our food comes, except mine. I watched my man eat almost his entire meal only for mine to come out last minute. I ordered sesame chicken. It was like orange chicken with sesame. I hated it and couldn't eat it. Another wasted plate of chicken. We had to pay for all of it. No apologies no discounts. However when he brought my water (the third time) I did get the response "third times a charm!"
