I was by whole foods and was hungry and wanted to try a spot I had not tried before. Stopped in and got sat immediately. The staff was friendly when I walked in. They kept coming over to make sure I was okay and to keep my water filled. It it in a shopping center so there is free parking. Going inside there are plenty of dining room tables for all sizes of groups. From the outside you can't see it but there is much more space than meets the the when you go in. Pork egg roll - the egg rolls were okay. They honestly were good but did that's nearly enough pork filling for me. You bite into it and it's egg roll wrap and mostly cabbage. But because of that the sauce they gave was useful. To be that big, they didn't have enough filling but it doesn't mean I didn't eat then (they were cooked to perfection though as far as the crisp and crust goes). General Tsos chicken - so the chicken was really good. Came with white rice and it was very plentiful. It was heavily sauced, so if you don't like as much of the sauce then you won't want this dish. The sauce was sweet and spicy and had great flavor. The chicken came in nice chunks (not like other places that may give you crumbs or super small pieces) and they definitely did not try to skimp you at all. Fried wonton - So the fried wontons weren't the move at all. They were fried extra hard. Hard enough to wear. You can taste anything but the fried crust and there was nothing on the inside. Having to bite into it. Just taste crunch and not flavor. Wasn't ideal. Overall this was a decent spot but the appetizers kind of let me down. The restaurant changed hands some time ago. None of the original staff were kept, strike one. The menu stayed the same for a while but I had to educate the staff of my favorite entree. They still do not have it right, strike two. The prices have risen but nothing else had really changed as in the interior and the quality of food, strike 3. The chicken with vegetables has almost no vegetables. The rice noodles with pork-granted I prob should have ordered lo mein or beef chow fun as my noodle dish- was so salty my lips tingled with saltiness after. This is our go to Chinese restaurant. We rarely eat there, we usually grab it to go. They're always really fast with their service. Our go to dishes are - Salt and Pepper Squid - salty, a little bit of heat, batter is fried to the perfect crunch - Snow Pea Leaves - very tender, good flavor. Sometimes it consists of not so tender pieces which makes it hard to eat, but most of the time it's pretty good. - Peking Pork Chop - just the right amount of sweetness - Hot and Sour Soup - It's usually pretty good, but this time, it seems to have too much slurry and it wasn't as appetizing. The flavors are more closely to traditional flavors, especially in our favorite dishes. They do always give us a good amount of rice and sauces. read more

Service is usually solid, the food is always delicious, and you can get some more unusual dishes compared to your average American-Chinese place. I recommend trying something new, although their standard dishes are good too. Okey dokie, I've been looking for a Chinese restaurant forever because my mom really likes egg foo young and so many places don't have it. I took a girlfriend of mine here for her birthday. It was our first time. I tried to come on Christmas Day for dinner but the line was out the door. I visited it this restaurant about 1:15 in the afternoon and it had very few people seated which was good. Just a reminder their lunch specials end at 2:30. Your lunch menu doesn't have any appetizers but they were kind enough to let me order appetizers from the dinner menu. I ordered a side of egg rolls and chicken wings but then continue the rest of my meal off the lunch menu. The prices were a few dollars cheaper than the dinner. I ordered for the first time in years shrimp egg foo young ,I loved it. It comes in 2 patties covered in gravy with a side of rice. I asked LeLe our server not to add MSG in my food. She said it's in the sauces and they could accommodate me. I was very happy.It was quite delicious. I have to say I enjoyed this shrimp egg foo young it was crunchy and moist and not at all too salty. The gravy was perfect. It was a lot of food especially after having wings and egg rolls. The egg rolls were huge mainly filled with cabbage or lettuce with a sporadic amount of meat. I just sliced them open and basically pulled out all the innards and had my mini salad. My birthday girlfriend had the chicken fried rice. She enjoyed it. The lunch plate was quite robust. The soup was nicely balanced, chow fun had a great chewy texture, and the salt & pepper dish with jalapeños was flavorful (with uneven size of shrimps). When we got the bill, the shrimp dish was $4 more and the chow fun $1 more than what was on the menu. In addition they tried to charge me one dollar more for the peanuts because they said "everything's more expensive." I explained to them that what's more expensive is getting a new customer after losing one for over 20 years because I will never come back here. After living for 12 years in China, my standard for Chinese food has gone up and is impossibly high now. I'll admit this restaurant is definitely more American-Chinese cuisine, but my preferences still apply. So take this as a disclaimer. I saw a lot of multigenerational Asian families in the restaurant, so I assumed it wouldn't be awful. My friend who grew up near Marietta told me this was his favorite place. We went to the Roswell location since it's more central between where all our friends live. He was determined to hear my opinion. Let me say that the food wasn't bad. But it wasn't good. It was just "okay". The portions are obviously huge. I got the pan fried beef chow fun and the mapo tofu. I also tried the wonton soup my friend got as a side for their combo meal. I had hoped the leftovers would taste fine, but the noodles turned a weird consistency. The mapo tofu may have been better than the noodles. I'd rank the wonton soup #3 of what I tried. The beef in the chow fun was way too chewy. But overall, the environment of a traditional American Chinese restaurant can't be matched. Me and my friend went to this location because it was closer to her. I'm used to going to the Marietta location on Canton Road. So they're doing some type of construction outside and we walk in and I'll be honest with you the floor feels like it's about the gear of weight or I'm a walk through the floor. It needs to be remodeled the floor needs to be tore up and redone so you don't feel like you're gonna fall through the floor. Let's get to the food the egg drop soup was good. I added a little pepper and then I took the rest to go. Our food came out and a pair of people but it's the same name so the chicken at Marietta location was great reminding me of that New York style chicken where theirs was a little off you could tell that ass something else to it to make it their own type of flavor, but also just the look of the chicken. It seems like a bare of chicken wing . General. Tao's chicken was that absolutely delicious and the Mongolian beef was OK . But I'll be honest with you. Something was going on because Lily had to go to the bathroom as soon as I got the Whole Foods they gave me the bubble gut. But the food tasted good it just everything else the customer service the ambience is not it. So that's why they got two stars. The unfreeze was good. The soup was OK dirty silverware for the soup that needs to be replaced on the way out in thought he was gonna walk through the floor and it was crazy because when we got upset, we both seen each other. they need to fix that floor safety hazard. I wish I had given Canton Cooks a try earlier, their food is fantastic and easily more authentic than other nearby establishments. This place is always super busy whenever I visit, and for good reason! I typically find it difficult to visit places that will serve traditional Chinese fare in the Sandy Springs area, but it wasn't until I noticed that Canton Cooks served salt and pepper squid that I decided to visit. The menu has a nice blend of Americanized and traditional options, with sesame chicken and lobster in black bean sauce on the same menu. On my first visit, I order the beef chow ho fun and the much desired salt and pepper squid. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but upon receiving the food, my world was rocked. The salt and pepper squid surpassed my expectations. The squid was tender, and fried to perfection, with a crispy outside. The seasoning was strong, lots of salt and pepper, just the way I like it. There was also a little bit of spice to round out the entire dish, it was absolutely delicious. The beef chow fun was savory and aromatic. The beef was also very tender and the noodles had a great bite to it. The bean sprouts and green onions gave the dish some great color and bite to the dish. It's a little on the oily side, but nonetheless, a very very good dish. Even their fried rice is special in my eyes. Most places have just chicken, beef, shrimp or combo fried rice. Canton Cooks had a tender chicken and salted fish fried rice, and it was a well put together fried rice. The rice itself was seasoned and the proteins gave the fried rice complexity and great flavor. It is definitely one of the more unique and traditional fried rices in the area! The food is a bit on the pricy end, but it is super worth it (rare coming from me). Their portion sizes make it so that you can easily turn a dish into multiple meals, and the overall quality is simply worth it. All the employees that work there are very nice and takeout orders are prepared quickly. I love the fried sea bass but I think it's like $40 or $60 alone so will probably skip it next time. It is a really nice and crunchy texture and comes with a ginger sauce though. I didn't feel like cooking so we ordered Chinese delivery from Canton Cooks with Door Dash. I chose moo shu chicken but it arrived with no pancakes and no hoisin sauce. Those are key ingredients of the dish. I called the restaurant and they apologized (they are the ones that screwed up) and told me to contact Door Dash. I told them I wouldn't need to contact Door Dash if they put the correct food in the bag. Canton Cooks was not interested in correcting the problem. Doing family-style Chinese food here is a treat! We went here for a friend's birthday (his family is from China). They give them points for authenticity and I give them points for delicious, large serving dishes. The staff expertly served our group of 10, bringing out food when it was ready for us to share. The food quality has dropped dramatically--dishes that used to be flavorful are now bland, with barely any meat in the noodle dishes. The meats in the dishes are chewy. On top of that, the prices have skyrocketed, yet the portions have gotten smaller. Bad-tasting food combined with high prices is a NOT a winning formula. I will not be returning. TIN DRUM tastes better than this! Update: I just learned the original owner sold the business, no wonder the bad food, small portions and high prices!!! I would advise not to go at all. This place has gone down since new owners. I have been eating here over 20 years. Tonight 5 of us are a substandard meal with terrible service! Trying to get the small bowl of rice refilled or waters refilled is impossible! And when we got the bill, it had a 20% tip already added! When you get the credit card voucher, they ask for more tip! No where are you informed there is a mandatory "tip." I wonder if this "tip" goes to the staff and are taxes collected in these charges. When I questioned, I was told the old owners charged the same amount. I told them I had been coming there 20 years and that was not true. She said I was wrong.
