A definite favorite! I tried this place for magical dining, and to start I was greeted by a great server "B". I was explained the magical dining options along with other drinking options as well. The ambience is very cool with sleek designs and a modern look. I love the seeded patio area that is enclosed that gives you a great view of the water. The food was fantastic. The mushroom flatbread was really good and flavorful. The vodka pasta had the right amount of sauce and sausage in it and the blueberry turnover was pretty good as well. Because they didn't have any ice cream at the moment, they offered me and my guess bread pudding, which actually tasted better than the turnover. What a great accommodation! I was so happy to see they added more vegetarian options to this & their regular menu. The place looks great. With those giant light fixtures, there's no signs of dust or decay. We ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich, but the fries that came with them were cold and stale. We asked to swap them for a side salad, which was basic but fresh and definitely a better option. The chicken sandwich was a miss for me -- very dry, with tough bread and grilled chicken that needed some kind of sauce to make it easier to eat. Drinks were just okay -- nothing memorable. Service was friendly but very slow. We had to ask for water (it was never offered) and when we were ready to pay, it took about 8 minutes to flag someone down for the check, then another 15 minutes after that to actually get our card charged (and that was only after flagging someone down again). Overall, while the view and the atmosphere were nice, the food and service missed the mark enough that we wouldn't come back or recommend it to friends. read more

We had lattes to die for, fried cod that was the tastiest I've had in the south so far, house made biscuits and gravy portion to share with my entire party, a fried chicken sandwich that was massive, and a breakfast plate with a little bit of everything. I went on a Saturday night 7pm. It was a little busy. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant. The restaurant has an out door garden area and an indoor lounge area to wait outside of the main dinning room. They have a full service bar. Our server was very nice and recommended a couple of drinks and food. We ordered 2 starters, 2 entrees, a dessert, two drinks, and sparkling water. Our total was $135 before tip. The food was okay considering the other restaurants in the area. The beef bolognese underwhelming. The calamari fries and arepas were very good. I will say the service was a little slow maybe because of the weekend rush. We were waiting a while to receive our courses. The manager did come around to check on us and our server as well. What a spectacular meal! What amazing service! What an aesthetically pleasing place to enjoy it all. This was the perfect place for a date with my Dad. I was looking for a place that served good food with high-quality ingredients, healthy options, and nice mocktails. Canvas checked all the boxes. We went on a Wednesday evening. I wasn't sure of the crowd, so I made reservations just in case. Canvas is located within a community of homes and apartments. When we arrived, there was some sort of pop-up of food vendors in one of the parking lots. But we found parking relatively quick anyway. When we entered, we noticed that Canvas has a huge area for people to sit, order breakfast and drinks, enjoy the view, or do some work. The hostess greeted us and immediately sat us. I was disappointed that because of a large private event, we were blocked from the pretty view. Our server greeted us nicely, very polite, efficient, and friendly. For appetizer, we ordered the Black Skillet Roasted Mussels bathed in a delicious briny, buttery broth & served with ciabatta. My dad kept saying, "This is delicious" with every mouthful. This dish is amazing, fresh & flavorful. We could've had two of these! Drinks we got two mojito mocktails that were so fun, refreshing, and delicious. Our entrees, Pan-Seared Salmon, served with fingerling potato & bacon hash topped with a lemon-dill sauce. The salmon is perfectly flaky, juicy, and flavorful. The potato hash is marvelous. Along with a side house salad, it made this entree flawless. Chipotle Meatloaf served with whipped potatoes and English peas, topped with bacon-mushroom gravy. I have been craving meatloaf, and this subtly smoky, spicy version of this classic dish is wonderful. And those potatoes, fluffy, buttery topped with the fresh peas and unctuous gravy, superb. ...I'm really disappointed. I've been here at least 3 other times and the service and food were always amazing. Today was very different. We had a reservation at 4pm, we were seated at 4pm. We got our drinks, put in our order.... And an hour and a half later still no food. Now I am usually the one to say something but this time my husband was upset. He got up and spoke to the manager. As soon as that was done, our food came out. As I have previously stated, I've dined here before and never had issues. This is a rare occurrence that I hope doesn't happen again. The manager tried to make up for it by comping our drinks. But to be honest, the server really should have done more. The kids had 4 drinks while waiting for food. You would've thought she would've checked in with us, check on the food... something. Once we finally got the food, it was great but the only thing memorable from this experience today is the service. The place still looks awesome, it wasn't too loud and the view of the lake was nice. There are some bars who take it as a nuisance that you have sat at their establishment. But I have gotten nothing but warm and friendly conversations from the bartenders and they will even greet you by name which I always think adds a personal touch to any bar you visit. All the food that I had was amazing but I wanted to shout out the Spicy Pork Meatballs that I had on Friday. MMM!!! I don't usually go for anything spicy but these had just the right amount of kick. I do have to say I love the Baked Twice Yuka Fries, it comes with a drizzle of honey and this amazing sauce to dip it in! Way back when, I used to get a Strawberry Rose Spritzer drink and that was always my go to, now they no longer have that on the menu but I always ask for it and they know exactly what it is and make it just the way the had before! They have indoor and outdoor seating, I love to sit inside but with a lake view while eating! It's a great place to get dinner or even a snack and a drink! A local hangout in beautiful Laureate Park. Eaten here many a time for brunch, lunch, and dinner. I also like to order out and enjoy a burger poolside in the cabanas. The ambience of the interior is modern and stylish. Tables can seat anywhere from 2 people to larger groups. Lots of families enjoy eating here. You can get a seat with water views indoors and outdoors. Love how the bar looks (again not a drinker but I'll appreciate a beautiful bar). If you want a quick bite there's a bistro with smoothies, muffins, and such if you want to hang in the small lounge en-suite to the restaurant. Attire is casual but if you wanted to dress up you wouldn't look out of place. Parking is ample but does fill up since there are several offices, the local gym, and a event space all in the same area. There are only 2 EV (electric vehicle) spots by the pool/water park but you could grab parking for your EV at Boxi Park and ride the Beep (the free electric trolley system) to Canvas or walk! It's roughly a mile from Boxi Park to Canvas. They sometimes host themed events so there's plenty of occasions for socializing and meeting people in your community here. Prices are reasonable for the location/ambience/quality. A solid choice for Lake Nona. Just like everything else it is well-thought out. Cute places for those who like IG photo ops lakeside and by the multi-colored glass house. Plenty of places to walk nearby if you want a post-meal digestion session. Come by! read more
