Location and outdoor ambiance is the only thing this place has going for it. From the moment we walked in, our party wasn't welcomed. We went with a large party for brunch time. Someone from our party had a service animal and without confirming with our party, they walked us to an outdoor table. They thankfully rectified that situation and once inside, everyone was fine and our waiter, Carl, couldn't have been more outstanding. He clocked everything from the moment we sat down to the moment we left--if it wasn't for Carl, I can't say I would recommend this place at all. Once we ordered the food took ages. Without exaggeration, over 30 minutes. I'm usually pretty gracious, but once the food arrived it looked straight out of a leftover buffet. Overcooked potatoes, dry cold eggs--we had to send it back. The make-up meal came out fine, but there's nothing to rave about here. We live in LP and have been to Canvas many times. We've had some great experiences here, but also a few that were just okay. Today was disappointing enough to write a review. We arrived on Monday (Presidents' Day) at 2:45pm after flying all day. The restaurant was not busy at all. The hostess asked if we wanted brunch or dinner and explained that brunch ended at 3pm and dinner would begin after that. We asked for the dinner menu but were told we couldn't be seated until 3. We then asked if we could at least be seated, order drinks, and wait until 3 to order food. The answer was no. That felt like an unnecessary and silly rule, especially given how empty the restaurant was and the fact that it was a holiday. Rather than wait 15 minutes standing there, we chose to go to another restaurant. Disappointing experience overall. read more

We just had a delicious and perfectly sized meal at Canvas in Lake Nona! Our friends had highly recommended Canvas not only for the abundance of delicious menu items, but for the ambiance and laid back vibe which the restaurant offers! We ended up ordering the penne pasta which was delightfully seasoned and flavored, along with the ricotta spread which came with ample amounts of lightly toasted bread to dip. My husband and I recently went to Canvas for brunch as they rolled out a new brunch menu! The cocktails were phenomenal! We both ordered the corned beef hash and I just say it wasn't the best HOWEVER I give grace because it was the day one roll out of a new menu and when I expressed I wasn't a fan both the server and the manager did everything they could to rectify it (my husband had ordered a side of pancakes and I had just eaten those!) we sat on the back outdoor area and the ambiance was amazing also great for any event you might want to host! Canvas Restaurant & Market is always a nice little getaway spot in Lake Nona with a lake view. The restaurant blends industrial, modern, and farmhouse themes nicely. It offers ample indoor and outdoor seating and even has this beautiful stained-glass space (outside of the restaurant) that offers unique and cool photographic opportunities. You can simply opt to shop in their market portion of the store - where they offer some great local wines - or you can dine in. I usually dine in and opt for outdoor seating as the water view is calming. Service is pretty prompt - especially when it's not during their rush hour. The staff is also super nice. I've experienced brunch, lunch and dinner at this restaurant and overall, it is a decent place to grab a bite. Now their menu has changed since my first few years visiting this restaurant, but overall, as I've noted, it is decent. There's something on the menu just about everyone. On my most recent visit, I had their shrimp ceviche - which was okay at best. (Sadly, it doesn't compare to a few other restaurants in Orlando that really have sensational ceviche options.) However, it did what I needed it to do to satisfy my craving for some ceviche. For a moment of improvement, it needs more flavors infused, more cilantro, more lime, and maybe even a little spice to give it a small kick. The chips that accompanied it were stale - so that was a bummer. I paired everything with a glass of rose and then followed it with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Now, the wine was delightful. I even sampled a couple of their beers, and their seasonal Hazy beer is truly tasty. It's light with some fruity undertones but it's great for these warm Florida days. Price points are average for the Lake Nona area, so just keep that in mind. There's ample parking space and it's not too far from Boxi Park. So, if you'd like to continue your day, you can just take the quick drive down to Boxi Park and enjoy what they have to offer or venture down a bit further to The Wave Hotel and enjoy all they offer. Nonetheless, it's much to do once you finish eating or enjoying the market at Canvas. Worth a visit if you have never been. read more

I haven't been here since a yelp event a decade ago. I stopped by for Sunday brunch and it was packed! Definitely make a reservation whenever you go. My group got the mussels to split. I found them okay. Nothing special. Could've had more bread than the 3 pieces we had to share. I got the crab cake Benedict. The potatoes it came with were amazing. Everything else was alright. We tried Canva for the first time as a celebratory dinner and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is so cool with amazing views of the lake. I had a spicy mango margarita which was tasty. We ordered the seasoned ricotta spread and it was phenomenal. I would come back again for this alone. My husband ordered the shrimp tacos which were served with chips and salsa and I ordered the tuna poke bowl. Both were great and portions are generous. I love when restaurants have a seasonal menu or rotating menu. We went for lunch today and just wanted a nice water view, so Canvas was the obvious choice. I wasnt thrilled with how long it took to get the food, BUT the quality was amazing. There was only 1 waitress so we granted her grace. She was pleasant and helpful. We ordered the blacked mahi tacos with a nice side salad. The chipotle mayo was such a welcomed addition, the tequila shrimp was a bit spicy but absolutely delicious. My sister also got a side ceasar salad. The ceasar was perfectly dressed, not too heavy and a side of fries, standard nothing to write home about, but good nonetheless. The ricotta spread app was also a bit of a miss. It was served with sourdough, but it was grilled and took away from the flavor of ricotta. The service and the ambiance carried my experience here. The food was very subpar, if that. I ordered the mahi special which was served with cilantro lime rice and a mango salsa. The rice wasn't very cilantro lime tasting and kind of dry so i added some of their regular salsa, which made the meal edible. They won't tell you their drink menu is pre batched, so i had to send my first drink back because it just didn't have that freshness and was too syrupy. Replaced with a to order made espresso martini sub tequila, which Ryan made perfectly. So I spinned the block again at Canvas in Lake Nona and it did not disappoint...again. This time around I went when the sun was setting and the beauty of sunset on the water was gorgeous to say the least. I ordered the salmon and swapped out the fingerling potatoes for mashed potatoes....they accidentally brought out both and tbh the fingerling potatoes were better (yeah I know). I had a Sparkling Rose Sangria which was my fave and a In Full Bloom cocktail which was good but was more on the tart side. We went to dinner on a Saturday and it was pretty busy but that didn't reflect in the service as the waiter was very attentive and did a great job of taking care of us. Let start by saying our bartender Skyler was great- good vibes and makes a decent margarita. That's the only good thing I can say about Canvas. This place is a nice setting, but "stunning lakeside views" is a stretch. It's a pond at best. We walked up with our family and right off the bat the hostess starts laying out the rules because we don't have a reservation. Mind you, it's 4PM on a Friday and the restaurant is maybe 10% occupied. "Oh if you want to bring the baby, I can set you up by the lobby, etc etc." I look inside and it's literally empty. The way she was talking, you'd think they're Noma and booked out for months. My in-laws then offer to walk our toddler around the outdoor area while we grab a quick drink. As I'm heading to the bar, I make eye contact with 2 waiters and nothing- no warm smile, no head nod, no greeting. Hey look, the space they've created is beautiful, but service and food is your first impression and strongest metric for customer retention. The Meatball Wellington was underwhelming, just a big meatball but lacked more flavor. That's my only not great app review. The oven roasted pei muscles were fresh and had a nice spice to it thanks to that's spicy coconut broth. Just great taste and flavor. The queso is exactly what you'd expect so nothing to write home about but not bad either. I'm not a huge yucca fan but these twice fried yucca fries were delicious. Canvas used to be a favorite for our family. Family dinners, date nights and even holidays, with great customer service, flavorful food, and beautiful views. The menu changed awhile back and we haven't really seen anything that calls to our palate, so we haven't gone. However, last night we were missing one of our favorite spaces and decided we'd go after a really long day. We got a reservation, just the two of us. We ended up waiting 20 minutes despite having a reservation, and 3 parties that came in after us were sat before us. Finally, we get seated, to my shock at a large booth. We waited at least 7 minutes for anyone to even come say hi. With not 1, but 2 managers having seen us and also walked by without saying a word. The only reason we stayed was because of the positive energy of our server. She could tell we already weren't happy and starving. She then had to tell us that the appetizer we wanted was not available but had other suggestions, and offered to bring us some chips right away to snack on. We placed our entire order with her at the same time. 50 minutes later, my husband was served the roasted chicken, and I got the pan seared salmon. What happened to the flavor? He said all he tasted was straight up chicken, no seasoning, not even the proclaimed lemon that was supposed to be used. Same goes for my salmon with lemon dill sauce. Are you all catering to 70 and up? Did I just pay for hospital food? What happened to the amazing flavors you all used to have? Why the changes to the menu? Outside of our amazing server, what happened to the customer service? Not a single manager stopped by to ask how things were, to apologize knowing they had long waits or for multiple things on the menu not being available. Needless to say, we won't be back anytime soon. Came here for a Christmas work dinner. Our CEO reserved a room inside the restaurant, which was very nice a little on the small side for the number of guests we had but the views were AMAZING. Service was great, they had 3 staff members running the show which was great they were quick, very friendly and professional. The salmon was delicious I loved how well it was made and the potatoes were the perfect combination.
