More of a time share/apartment Place but anyone can get a room here. I stayed here while working to wasn't able to take full advantage of all of their amenities but they have them. The rooms are nice and apartment style. Full kitchen, living room, master bedroom, dining table, patio with grill, etc. The couch in the living room also opened up to a bed. Dishes, utensils, coffee maker, dishwasher were all in the room as well. Full size fridge, stove, microwave, etc The bathroom was huge with a hot tub as well. The toilet was in the same room but has its own door. Two sinks, one in the bathroom and one in the master bedroom. Laundry was also available on site, coin operated and they had a pool and hot tub as well. The beach though was right across the street. Great place to bring the family for a beach getaway.

More of an air b&b than an actual hotel. The owner of the condo we stayed at showed up twice- once to check us in and the other to check up on us. Thought the kitchen was kind of small, but we're told that we had full range of any of the cereals or anything in the fridge. Upstairs was probably the nicest part. Spacious two bedrooms and a small bath. Location-wise, it wasn't bad. We went through VRBO

Do you want to lay in bed with all the windows open and let the cool ocean breeze lull you to sleep? Do you want to sit on your balcony and watch the sunset paint the sky over the ocean beyond Dana Point? Do you want to wake up to the sound of the waves lapping against the shore? Do you want to sound like a bad advertisement for a very good hotel? Clearly I do, because I am a huge cheerleader for Capistrano Surfside Inn after staying there. This is a timeshare that is part of the RCI network of hotels, but they also book their rooms online outside of the timeshare world. They offer three room sizes: One bedroom units, two bedroom one bath units. and 2 bedroom 2 bathroom units. All units have full kitchens. I stayed in three different rooms for a long business trip recently. The most updated units were the two bedroom two bathroom units. The smaller two bedroom units are a little dated, but they were perfectly clean and had everything I needed to be comfortable. They also have a better view of the ocean. All of the units I stayed in had jetted tubs and all of them had a BBQ on the deck. None of this really mattered to me because I just wanted to sit out on the balcony and stare at the Pacific. The best part of this place is definitely the location. It's within very easy walking distance of Dana Point Marina and Capistrano Beach. It's a very short drive, or bike ride (or a longer walk) to San Clemente. The pedestrian bridge was open and made it so easy to get to the beach. It's also close to all the shops and restaurants in Dana Point itself. The second best part of the hotel for me was Cynthia. The service she provided while we stayed there was some of the best we've ever had. The rest of the staff was great too, but she bent over backwards to make our stay fantastic!!!! They have a very well kept pool and hot tub and provide pool toys, toys for the beach, and bikes as well. The only complaint I have is that I had to leave. I guess I'll have to go back.

After reading some of the less favorable reviews about the construction, I was a little concerned before our trip, but I'm happy to say it did not affect our vacation at all. All of the restaurants were open, even if some were in temporary locations, and everything was very well done. The food at the pool was absolutely delicious--honestly some of the best poolside food I've ever had--and the service was fantastic. Our grandchildren had the best time enjoying the pool and splash pads, and we also loved that there was a nice playground just a short walk down the hill. The beach is very close and easy to get to. There is a bit of an incline on the way down and back up, but we found it very manageable. Overall, we had a truly memorable stay and would happily return.

The resort was under major construction at this time and yet we still had a great experience. Resort offers valet and self-parking options. The self-parking is easy as you trade in your ticket for a reusable check-in/check-out card, which makes it easy. They felt a little understaffed for the weekend, but still kept the resort clean. Food took longer than it should and service took longer than it should but food was very good and service was excellent when it happened. Our room was clean and modern and gorgeous. A typical Marriott bed, so a great sleep experience. Air conditioning had the best self-control of any hotel. We've stayed in in a while, which is fantastic. The shower is ample and high so tall people can do as well as small people and had great hot water and pressure. Front Desk also felt overwhelmed and doing the best they could, but it wasn't great in terms of times we had to wait. Overall, we had a surprising stay in an area we've lived in for decades, and will definitely rebook for staycations in the future!

That being said, we truly love The Ritz-Carlton and this beautiful property. The service is always outstanding, and the staff consistently goes above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and cared for. Shout out to Erika behind the bar who is incredibly knowledgeable about her wines. It's way worth the visit. Pro tip for parking: there is a public parking lot. My husband had just finished working six consecutive shifts at the fire department, and we were simply looking forward to a nice evening together. As we entered the parking lot, two men in a golf cart crossed in front of our vehicle. My husband honked, and there was later a brief verbal exchange about what had happened. There were no threats or physical confrontation from us, and we believed the matter was over. Later, while we were still seated at our dinner table, a woman we had never met approached us and began questioning us about the parking-lot interaction. She told us that she and her husband were club members, repeatedly referenced their membership, said she had never seen us there before, and told us she "didn't want any problems in the future." I cannot speak to what she intended, but the encounter made both of us feel intimidated, unwelcome, and extremely uncomfortable. We later learned that an Aviara Country Club member event was being held at the restaurant that evening. After dinner, we discovered that our vehicle had been extensively damaged while parked on the property. Carlsbad Police investigated, and surveillance footage from the property documented what occurred. An individual associated with the earlier parking-lot encounter became the alleged suspect during the investigation. Our vehicle ultimately sustained nearly $15,000 in repair costs. I am intentionally not identifying anyone or making any statement about guilt. I am simply describing what my husband and I experienced that evening. What has disappointed us most is Park Hyatt Aviara's response afterward. I personally contacted hotel management and was told that Hyatt was cooperating with police, which we appreciated. We were also told that someone from Aviara Golf Club management would contact us to discuss what happened. That call never came. I understand that a hotel cannot control the actions of every person on its property, and I am not assigning legal responsibility to Hyatt. My concern is how we were treated as guests after such a serious and disturbing experience. We experienced an uncomfortable confrontation during dinner, left to discover nearly $15,000 in damage to our vehicle, and had to involve law enforcement. Yet we never felt the level of concern, communication, or follow-through we expected from a five-star property. That is what has been most disappointing. We chose Park Hyatt Aviara because we expected exceptional hospitality and guest care consistent with the Park Hyatt name. Instead, we left feeling uncomfortable, unsupported, and profoundly disappointed. I sincerely hope Park Hyatt Aviara considers how guests are cared for when something goes seriously wrong during their visit.
