More of a time share/apartment Place but anyone can get a room here. I stayed here while working to wasn't able to take full advantage of all of their amenities but they have them. The rooms are nice and apartment style. Full kitchen, living room, master bedroom, dining table, patio with grill, etc. The couch in the living room also opened up to a bed. Dishes, utensils, coffee maker, dishwasher were all in the room as well. Full size fridge, stove, microwave, etc The bathroom was huge with a hot tub as well. The toilet was in the same room but has its own door. Two sinks, one in the bathroom and one in the master bedroom. Laundry was also available on site, coin operated and they had a pool and hot tub as well. The beach though was right across the street. Great place to bring the family for a beach getaway.

More of an air b&b than an actual hotel. The owner of the condo we stayed at showed up twice- once to check us in and the other to check up on us. Thought the kitchen was kind of small, but we're told that we had full range of any of the cereals or anything in the fridge. Upstairs was probably the nicest part. Spacious two bedrooms and a small bath. Location-wise, it wasn't bad. We went through VRBO

Do you want to lay in bed with all the windows open and let the cool ocean breeze lull you to sleep? Do you want to sit on your balcony and watch the sunset paint the sky over the ocean beyond Dana Point? Do you want to wake up to the sound of the waves lapping against the shore? Do you want to sound like a bad advertisement for a very good hotel? Clearly I do, because I am a huge cheerleader for Capistrano Surfside Inn after staying there. This is a timeshare that is part of the RCI network of hotels, but they also book their rooms online outside of the timeshare world. They offer three room sizes: One bedroom units, two bedroom one bath units. and 2 bedroom 2 bathroom units. All units have full kitchens. I stayed in three different rooms for a long business trip recently. The most updated units were the two bedroom two bathroom units. The smaller two bedroom units are a little dated, but they were perfectly clean and had everything I needed to be comfortable. They also have a better view of the ocean. All of the units I stayed in had jetted tubs and all of them had a BBQ on the deck. None of this really mattered to me because I just wanted to sit out on the balcony and stare at the Pacific. The best part of this place is definitely the location. It's within very easy walking distance of Dana Point Marina and Capistrano Beach. It's a very short drive, or bike ride (or a longer walk) to San Clemente. The pedestrian bridge was open and made it so easy to get to the beach. It's also close to all the shops and restaurants in Dana Point itself. The second best part of the hotel for me was Cynthia. The service she provided while we stayed there was some of the best we've ever had. The rest of the staff was great too, but she bent over backwards to make our stay fantastic!!!! They have a very well kept pool and hot tub and provide pool toys, toys for the beach, and bikes as well. The only complaint I have is that I had to leave. I guess I'll have to go back.

It is technically walking distance to the beach but it is down a decent hill and would be a pain to lug your stuff up/down. The layout of the property is a little confusing in the meantime but staff were always friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious but amenities are lacking. Only one pool open and it's quite small and when we went, overrun with kids. The LookOut Bar has more of someone's makeshift backyard vibe and there's an automatic 20% service charge that wasn't disclosed or posted anywhere except on the receipt once payment was ran. They had a starry night experience that we reserved that didn't happen and we didn't receive any notification; it was still advertised at the lobby and we did return multiple times to the designated lawn but there was no one. Charged twice for parking and was assured it would be taken care of prior to departure but it wasn't and I had to stop by the lobby to get it corrected before leaving. Am a Gold Elite member and requested a late check out but instead of 2pm, the latest was 12:30pm. No complimentary room upgrade offered either, which was disappointing. Walls are PAPER THIN and we had neighbors who were loud late into the evening and then started early. Could hear kiddos upstairs being yelled at as well. The AC is loud and every time it kicked on, you could hear water running and the air seemed to blow at you instead of dispersing throughout the room. May return once the renovations are done but wouldn't pay the nightly rate for what we received.

For a…read moreproperty that regularly charges $1,000+ per night, we expected a level of peace, consistency, and attention to detail that matches the price point. To be fair, many parts of the stay were great, bellhop, check-in, and valet were all excellent. Unfortunately, everything else was overshadowed by issues that made the stay feel far from "luxury." First, there was a wedding and reception taking place during our stay, which would normally be fine. But the noise level was completely out of control. A man was singing off-key for hours, and the music was so loud that it drowned out the sunset on our final night... something we were specifically excited for. Instead of tranquility, we were met with a full-blown concert we never signed up for. When I reached out to the front desk on 11/23 to address the noise, I was made to feel like I was the only guest with concerns. That wasn't true at all; a quick look at Yelp shows multiple guests complaining about the exact same issue that weekend. There were other guests we tried to enjoy the sunset with and they were appalled as well. It's disappointing to feel dismissed rather than acknowledged. To make matters worse, we were charged pet cleaning and hospitality fees despite traveling with a service animal. We cleaned up after ourselves and our animal, and the charge felt careless and inappropriate. For a hotel that prides itself on five-star hospitality, this was a surprising and unnecessary frustration. We were also charged for a refrigerator which by the way, we sent back because we actually requested for a microwave. Lastly, even the jacuzzi... which should be a quiet, relaxing space, was anything but. Kids were splashing and throwing cups of water around while we tried to unwind. I understand family-friendly spaces, but at a resort of this caliber, there should be better supervision or clearer separation between relaxation areas and play areas. Overall, I expected a calm, restorative experience, and instead found myself dealing with noise, incorrect charges, and a lack of acknowledgment when raising concerns. For the price and reputation, the Waldorf missed the mark in ways I didn't anticipate.

We got a chance to tan in the sun, swim, sip on some micheladas from the pool-side bar and enjoy some great food by the pool as well. We ordered a cheese quesadilla that came with salsa, guac and sour cream for the dipping and we ordered a bowl of their hummus, which came with grilled pita bread and a variety of ripe veggies that we dipped into the hummus. Both dishes were freshly made and were incredibly delicious. And I can't say enough about the service provided at this hotel-- just phenomenal. The parking valet was very friendly and explained we had to valet when staying at the hotel. They do have a daily valet and resort fee. Our check-in was easy. We were given a top floor in our building with a great view of the ocean and Vista Pool. The room and bathroom were so clean. The furniture in the room and on the patio were stylish and comfortable. The bed was a bit soft for us but we did fine for three nights. I will post pictures of the room and view. I made all our dinner reservations the week before arriving knowing we could cancel them if we wanted to do something else. We did not eat at the Catalina Kitchen, but all of our room service food and pool food was prepared by Catalina Kitchen. All of those meals were fresh, flavorful and well presented. Parking was valet only which was quick and seamless (and free!). The staff at the entry of the hotel was super helpful in providing directions to get down to the pool as one of my girlfriend's said it was a little confusing to find, but I was given a clear guide on how to get down there and got there without issue. We had our own server at the cabana who provided us with our free fruit plate and bottle of bubbly to share, and took food and drink orders. She and her coworkers checked on us pretty frequently and kept us well-stocked. The day was a little overcast and cloudy but the pool was a lovely cool temp, and the jacuzzi was in the same general area so when we got a little chilly we hopped on over. After spending some time in the adult-only pool area, we headed up to the family friendly deck and took a couple of runs down the slides, which was super fun. Around the time we were meant to clear out, our server was super sweet and let us know they would just start to pick up around us but we were welcome to stay longer if we wanted to, since there was no one coming in behind us. We continued relaxing until we were all ready to go but first we got to chatting with another staff member, Bryan, who was super rad and shared all his favorite nearby spots to eat. The staff is really so wonderful here! Very friendly and professional. Upon checking in at 5PM, they actually told us they didn't have a room ready for us, even if check-in was at 4. We had to speak with someone, and eventually they did give us a room, but we thought it was odd that they didn't already have a room ready past check-in time. The floating river is a nice touch to this hotel, but the way they didn't explain the details to us of how to get into the pool area without wristbands at check-in was also really annoying.
