The hotel my cousin and I stayed at was right next to Capital Seafood so we decided to try out their dim sum menu in the morning. Parking: huge parking lot with plenty of spots. We walked to the restaurant since the hotel we stayed at was right next door. Ambiance: upscale and luxury dining room. It's a medium size restaurant. Overall, a good spot to hold banquets, and enjoy dim sum or dinner with family. Service: above average. Order to food arrival time was efficient. We didn't have to wait long for the food we ordered. We did see the dim sum carts being pushed around but prefer to order off the paper menu since it's made fresh. Food: excellent. (5/5 for most dishes, portion size was a bit small, price is comparable to Bay Area dim sum but the quality and taste was excellent). We ordered the minced beef rice noodle, vegetable bean curb roll, shrimp tofu skin roll, fried shrimp and pork dumpling, beef chow fun and the baked crispy bread with almond cream. All were delicious but our favorites were the baked crispy bread and the shrimp tofu skin roll. I'm thinking of my next trip to LA when I bring my parents, they will love the delicious food. read more

I haven't been to Seafood in years and decided to try it again since my aunt said that they had some good dishes according to her friend. We came on a Saturday morning and it was pretty packed, but we were able to get a table within 30 minutes for party of five. The food here is pretty standard for a dim sum, nothing spectacular. We were excited to try this place for their dim sum. We ended up ordering a few dishes from their lunch & chef's special as well. The dishes were a bit pricey, but everything was very tasty. The restaurant itself was clean, nice ambiance, lots of tables, plenty of parking, but service could've been better. I'm only giving 2 stars because our first visit was ruined by how they handled the tip. My sister and I split the bill and there was confusion -- I tipped my half, she didn't, an honest mistake. We still paid 18% between us, but they made a scene as we were leaving. Tipping is customary, not mandatory, and there's no law requiring it. They already add 18% for parties of 8+ (we were a party of 7). Not sure what the point is of that since other people on here have left reviews that they were harassed and tip was demanded of them regardless of the number of people in their party. Would've loved to recommend this place and possibly return with more family and friends. Too bad this was a great meal that left a bad taste in our mouths because of the way we were treated. I'm surprised I haven't written a Yelp review for this place yet since it's one of my family's go to spots. If you come by on a weekend at 10am right when they open, there's usually no wait. My favorites here are the almond tea with puff pastry, shiumai, charsiubao, lava yolk bun, and chicken feet. The Taiwanese deep-fried shrimp rolls are not bad too! They're also great for dinner or banquet style meals. They have private rooms you can reserve. I also order take out here all the time and it's always a hit. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it in my opinion. Service is super friendly, attentive, and fast here. If you come around 11-11:30am on the weekends, there will definitely be a wait. Restrooms are clean. There is a large parking lot with free parking. The restaurant is located in a plaza with lots of other boba, dessert options as well. read more

Stumbled here cause i was driving down Huntington with the wife and we got curious. Came in during dim hours and its not the typical push cart.. its order and they'll bring it out. Tried out the siu mai.. really good, no overly strong porky flavor or smell. Clean taste and bouncy chew. The pan fried shrimp and chive dumplings was not overly oily and greasy. Had an order of the chinese donut with rice noodle. Seems like the donut is baked, rolled in rice noodle with pork sung. Impressed the wife, its her favorite dim sum dish. A nice dim sum restaurant in SGV. It does not have a huge variety of dim sum. But they got all the "core" one. And they all tastes pretty good. Very impressed on the Siu Mai. I am never a big fans of Siu mai, but they surprise me! This restaurant is very spacious. But same as all the other dim sum restaurants, it could get very noisy. Well, everyone going to dim sum restaurants for chatting and gathering, so it could get louder and louder. But it doesn't really bother me a lot as it was always like this back in HK. We also ordered the all time favorite -sauté fried eggplants, half scallion oil chicken, a green veggie to balance out the health meal :) The food came out pretty fast, the portion was enough for 3 people. Perfect flavored, most importantly; not too oily. The fried shrimp roll was my fav for the night, very authentic. Capital Seafood is the perfect place to cure your dim sum cravings! I grew up going to Capital Seafood every Sunday so the entire experience is now extremely nostalgic to me. I came on a Sunday morning so it was pretty packed - my party was quoted a 30 minute wait time but the table was ready in abt 15! This location is huge, with multiple different rooms for different parties/occasions. The inside is clean and feels slightly more modern compared to other dim sum restaurants. The service is what you can expect from a typical Chinese restaurant, very efficient but not particularly attentive. We had to flag down a worker at times to get a refill on water for the teapot. There are no dim sum carts at this location, but people do come around with trays offering certain dishes. The food stays consistently delicious. My all-time favorite has to be the salted egg yolk custard bun. The bun is filled to the brim with custard! I also really enjoyed the smelt fish. Stopped by here for dim sum. We were driving back up to the Bay Area and didn't want to go too deep into L.A. and hit traffic. That was the main reason we picked this place. I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting pretty standard dim sum, but it turned out a few of the dishes was elevated just a tad to stand out. Notably the BBQ pork was actually really good. It seemed like they used a nice quality of meat and also did a nice honey glaze. It's not typical we order BBQ pork for dim sum but glad we did this time. The chicken feet also were nice. They had a good spicy flavor with the jalapeños. I think the only disappointment were the egg tarts. They were mini versions and the filling was really orange for some reason. It was very smooth and silky as an egg tart should be. All in all, this was a solid dim sum place and the standout BBQ pork brings it up another level. read more

Fantastic food and fantastic service. We (2 adults and 2 children) came around 11 on a Saturday and were seated right away, but a line started forming shortly after. We ordered seaweed salad, egg tarts, various shrimp dumplings, bbq pork steamed buns, spare ribs, and chicken crispy noodles. Everything came out quickly and tasted great. The staff were very attentive in refilling tea and checking on us. The best part was the special mochi they offered, which they said was only offered that day. Food is really good and of high quality. Every time I come here with my family we order every steamed dumpling type they have. My personal favorite is the peanut dumpling and chive dumpling. The restaurant is always very clean and the staff is very attentive. They didn't offer me any water tho. Said they only had hot tea. What kind of establishment doesn't offer tap water? The quality of the food is quite nice; while I am a big fan of their dim sum (the rice noodle and har gow were really good), I was most impressed by their salted fish fried rice. I would come here again! Food came fast, but because they are so busy it might be difficult to get ahold of someone if you need anything (and sometimes they might come off as curt due to how busy/frantic they are). Overall though, the lively atmosphere and good food make up for the limited service. They are always really busy, so be ready for a bit of a wait (~20 min for small parties). Our favorite was this deep-fried eggplant dim sum, rice noodles, and bbq pork bun. Everything was flavorful without being too salty. Food is terrific. I don't understand why yelp reviews are so low. The food came fast and freshly made. We ordered quite a few things just for my husband and myself. We got the siu mai, har gao, steamed mustard greens, fried smelt, fish and chicken fried rice, beef in rolled rice cake, vegetarian spinach dumplings, steamed rice cake, and egg tart. Everything tasted great but I was quite surprised by how tasty the fried smelt and steamed spinach dumplings were. I am a meat heavy eater but the dumplings were exceptional, full of umami with mushrooms. Service was fast and everything looks clean. They change the fabric table cloth for every table they seat, which is greatly appreciated. They serve you a pot of jasmine tea in a cast iron pot as you are seated. I love jasmine tea so I'm not complaining. Their servings are geared toward 3-person parties because everything comes in 3s. Any more people and you have to double the portions. For everything we ordered, plus the tip, it wasn't expensive at all. My husband prefers their food compared to another place we always go to in San Gabriel. On my list for a long time. I finally got the chance to visit and it was a very nice Dim Sum lunch. We were seated right away and our server was quick with waters and hot tea. We ordered the Shrimp & Pork Shu Mai, Steamed Pork Dumplings, Deep Fried Potstickers, Chicken w/Garlic Sauce and Kung Pao Beef, both from the Lunch Special menu. Everything was very good. The Garlic Chicken had a nice kick to it, and the Potstickers where not greasy. The Steamed pork dumplings where not 'Soup dumplings' (XLB) or if they were, they were not at all juicy.
