The crab soup was good and the stir fried rice noodle was excellent. But what made the trip unforgettable was their beef short ribs. This place gets really busy on weekends. I was there with my family last Sunday at 1pm and the wait was 40 minutes. They do take reservations so I recommend it. I've been coming here since it first opened many moons ago, and the quality has been consistent. Our regulars are the ha-gow (shrimp dumplings), sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, pan fried taro rice cake, tofu wrapped veggie rolls, Shu-mai, and sesame balls. The prices have not increased as much post COVID as some other places such as Chef Tony's or Bistro 168. This is our go-to dim sum place in Arcadia! First time here with family during Thanksgiving lunch. They opened 1 hr earlier than usual because of the holiday -- actually, I'm surprised they were even open at all during a major holiday -- lol not ... most Asian restaurants in the 626 area code are open during these holidays. They unfortunately do not take reservations, so we had to come right when they opened to get seating without having to wait. If you have a large party, they expect you to have your full party before they will give you a table. Anyway, this place has some pretty good dim sum. Don't let the name of the restaurant "seafood" throw you off if you're not a seafood lover. Yes, they have seafood dishes, but there's plenty of non-seafood items as well (i.e dim sum). You are given a dim sum menu and a separate "big dish" menu that you can order from. We ordered from both menus. They do not push around carts with dim sum here. You place a number next to the item you want to indicate the # of orders you want for each dim sum item. Almost all of their dim sum items were great - especially the shiu mai, crispy fish fillet with special house sauce, and turnip cake. The only exception was the rice noodle as we all thought it lacked flavor and doesn't absorb the sauce that comes with it very well. My favorite item from the dim sum menu is their unique puff pastry over almond milk. The puff pastry was perfectly crisp and soft, while the almond milk had very good & strong almond flavoring. It was a tad on the sweeter side, but if you share it, it's not too bad. Definitely a must-try item that's unique to Capital Seafood. From the other menu, we got their Jumbo sole fish, which was not jumbo at all for ~$40 not worth it. FYI - They charge ~$2 per person for hot tea. Stopped for quick lunch and to take leftover dim sum to my mom, who lives in the dim sum-free desert. I'd never been here but chose it for proximity to my route off the 210. It's located only a few minutes from the 210, on Huntington Drive. The restaurant is nice and clean. It wasn't too crowded, was seated almost right away. The service was very good. I appreciated how they did. Or charge me for tea that I didn't want, like most dim sum restaurants do. Most importantly all the dim sum I ordered was very good: shrimp har gow (#9, "B" price as of 6/30/23 $6.28); shrimp and pork shiu mai (#10, also "B"/$6.28); steamed BBQ pork bun (#45, "B"/$6.28); baked egg custard tarts (#59, "B"/$6.28); baked crispy bread with almond cream (#53, "C" price currently $7.28); minced beef rice noodle (#41, "C"/ $7.28), and steamed lettuce (#85, "K"/$9.28). It was all solid. The baked crispy bread with almond cream sounded interesting but I didn't know what it was, I was expecting a cream puff. Turns out it was almond milk soup in puff pastry, like they *used* to have at the Lunasia in Alhambra but stopped serving for some dumb reason. So I was thrilled that I happened to order what I had been missing elsewhere. It was very good. I love poached lettuce with oyster sauce but I'll never understand why the item that should cost the least for them to make (I'm guessing like .50) always has like a 1,000% mark-up to ($9.28). Came here for Christmas since American places are often closed. The food is good, but the service is abysmal. It is normal for a Chinese place though, and it is busy, and it is Christmas Day so I understand that. It took too long to order, and I was ignored when I asked for water. Perhaps people that can speak their language would have better luck. I ended up going to the cash register to ask for water, and getting up to get a pitcher of water for myself, as well as extra napkins. Don't expect good service but the food is good. Disappointing! We eaten here a few other times before and the food was good and well as the service. This latest experience was not good. The food wasn't good. We've had their Peking duck before which was good, BUT absolutely not the case this time. In regard to the other dishes we ordered, we specifically requested that the dishes NOT be spicy. Well our request didn't get translated into the dishes which came out. The were SPICY HOT! If the experience with BAD food wasn't enough, the head server (a short, older graying Asian fellow with glasses) was awful. When we arrived, there were only 2 occupied tables in the main dining room. A few minutes later they seated a large 2 table contingent right next to us. The new neighbors were extremely loud and noisy. We asked the head server if we could move to a quieter table in the other side of the restaurant. He said absolutely NOT, and that part of the restaurant was closed. If that were the case, why was there an occupied table next to the table we were hoping to move to. Terrible! Came here Saturday around 12:30pm for dim sum and the wait was around 20 min. The interior is really biga and the service was quick and efficient. We ordered a bunch of dishes and some of the more memorable ones were chicken feet, turnip cake, taro cake, salted egg yolk custard buns, sesame balls, and their crispy honey glazed char siu and roasted duck. Everything was delicious and the flavor reminds me of the dim sum in Taiwan. As we were stepping out of the building the "manager" on duty, Jennifer, rudely stopped my mother trying to ask if she paid for our lunch when there were other servers & employees that witnessed her pay for the food. The are not a cart pushing kind of dim sum establishment so you put the quantity you want on the paper on the table. It was nice and simple.
