I brought my corporate vehicle in for a recall service, and that part of the visit was handled fine. However, about a week later when I went to get an oil change, I realized something that made the process more complicated than it should have been. Because this is a company vehicle, oil changes require approval through the corporate fleet program. I later found out that the dealership never actually called to get the oil change approved, which created unnecessary confusion on my end. Another thing that stood out was that the service advisor repeatedly asked why my company didn't just buy me a brand new car off the lot. Since this is a corporate fleet vehicle, that decision obviously isn't something I control. It felt like an odd question to keep asking and didn't really have anything to do with the service appointment. The recall service itself was completed, but better communication and a clearer understanding of how corporate fleet vehicles work would make the experience smoother for customers in the future. read more

We purchased our car on 1/31. When getting the car we noticed a hole in the seat and was told that someone would be repairing it. We also paid for a sealant to be placed over the outside and inside of the car. We also had an anti theft system already installed in the car that we were told we had to pay for because it was already on the car. They were to activate and then send us the information via email so that we can complete the process. We asked to leave the car and return once the repairs were made, the sealant, placed, and the anti theft connected. Th person who sold us the car by the name of Samson informed us to take the car at that time because they would need to make an appointment to get everything done. We leave with the car and are called with an appointment time to return. We live 1.5 hrs away. I take the car back there at said appointment time and everyone seems confused.because the person who repairs the car is in Tahoe and only does the work on Thursdays and this was not a Thursday. Samson calls and apologizes and says not to worry, I know you live far so I will make arrangements to pick up the car and return it once the work is completed. I am told while I am there the sealant cannot be placed because the hole would need to be repaired first. They did however connect the anti theft. After that completion my clock and everything was thrown off. I asked them to please reset the clock and they couldn't. I was told when I get home to do the update and it should fix the problem and if it didn't that they would fix it when they bring it in for the other tasks. Did the update and it still doesn't work. The said time came and passed that was arranged by Samson for the car to be picked up from the resident. I was told when I phoned to inquire that he forgot and could we set up another time. Lo and behold that time too came and Samson said he was in the hospital sick and I haven't heard from anyone since. Not to mention we never received the email for the anti theft device that we need to finish setting up which by the way they tacked on an extra $4000+. I've made multiple calls and either I'm told a manager will get back to me, the phone just rings and rings, or it goes to voicemail. In short the worse experience I've ever encountered. In long; they will continue to hear from me until the things we paid for are done or just give us our money back. Currently looking into how to handle this next. Just beware! read more

Was interested in looking at one of their vehicles that have been posted for sale for about a month. Wanted to do the old fashion drop by and look at the vehicle type of experience and look at the car before getting haggled. Car was not on the lot. Called their sales line and guy with an accent picked up and told me the car was on the lot. I told him I just walked it and didn't see it. He then went to check and advised the car was not ready for sale...asked if I could at least take a look because I drove 2 hours to look at it. Guy didn't want to show me. Update (March 19, 2026): As of March 19, 2026 (73 days after payment cleared), we have not received the vehicle title, registration, or license plates. The temporary registration expires April 4, 2026. We have added supporting photos, including a retail installment contract generated after a full cash purchase, written confirmation that credit was run as "company policy," multiple credit inquiries later removed, and documents that appear to lack dealer signatures, including a REG 262 form without a dealer signature. Update (March 12, 2026): As of March 12, 2026, it had been 65 days since payment cleared, and we had still not received title or registration. Our credit reports showed 14 inquiries related to this transaction; six were removed after dispute. We were not informed that a credit application would be submitted and were not provided any credit authorization documents. We continue to request written clarification. Update (February 19, 2026): The dealership publicly stated that they do not convert cash purchases into financed deals without authorization. However, in a February 9 email, the General Sales Manager stated that a credit application was run and a backup finance contract was prepared as company policy in case the check did not clear. A finance company later confirmed that an application had been submitted, although no account was opened. These statements appear inconsistent, and we have requested written clarification. Note: The dealership appears on the Better Business Bureau website under the name "Capital Nissan," which may differ from "Capitol Nissan San Jose." Original Experience (Jan 4, 2026): We completed a full cash purchase of a 2021 BMW for $40,500.80 by check and declined financing multiple times. The process was rushed after closing, and documents were not provided at signing. The next day, after the check was cashed, we received documents showing a financed transaction with a higher total price and a lien. Most documents lacked dealer signatures. A finance company later confirmed that a credit application had been submitted despite financing being declined. I called ahead to book an appointment for a test drive of a pre-owned vehicle. I arrived at the scheduled time and met with my sales contact, Philip. The car was not ready. He retrieved the car from the back lot and informed me that it had minimal gas in the tank, which would limit the duration of my test drive. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the vehicle. The car was wonderful! It drove great. After a short test drive, I told him that it was my top choice. But to make a final decision, I needed more time with it and some time to test-drive a few more cars that interested me. During our exchange, I told him that I wasn't interested in purchasing the door protection treatment and theft tracking add-ons for $1900+. When I brought my car in for service, I presented a valid coupon to the representative. The coupon was noted on the invoice, yet the savings were never applied. I e-mailed the dealership right away and they said they would "work something out". It has now been over a month and despite multiple e-mails, phone calls, and voicemails, I still have not heard anything back or received a refund. Service departments customer service is the worse - apparently the customer is always wrong here. My husband brought his car in for a Nissan recall (we live in Hollister and had an appointment). The service rep, Steve, asked if he was leaving the car, my husband said he was going to lunch but would be back to pick up the car - at no time was it mentioned by Steve that it wouldn't be ready at the end of the day). At 4:30 the service advisor told him the car would not be finished...arguing that my husband was told it wouldn't be at drop off (why would my husband come back from lunch if told this), they didn't offer any loaner cars even though the problem was all on Nissan,! My husband did ask to the speak to the manager and was told by Steve that he was in a meeting and had to leave at 5:00! Luckily a kind customer gave my husband a ride to Morgan Hill! But now we need to make a second trip to San Jose to pick the car up!! read more

Worst vehicle purchase experience ever. Where do I start... 1. Sold me a lemon. See photos 2. Was forced to purchase their so called mandatory add ons Edge guard and Security GPS non sense. I declined obviously. 3. Check engine light comes on literally the same day I drove it off the lot. 4. Came back to the dealership to get it "fixed" but upon driving back home it comes on again. 5. Rude employees, I was hung up on twice, and ignored while I was calling them. Transparency was non existent. In conclusion, I'll post the photo of the actual vehicle, please avoid or make sure everything gets fixed before you leave the lot. I had enough and decided to return it. Purchased a brand new QX60 for myself here and the experience I had was a very positive one. I worked with Phil, Bryan, and Eric. I do a lot of car deals because I help family and friends negotiate car deals, which has become a hobby of mine now, and my buying experience here is no different here than my experiences at Lexus, Toyota, Subaru, Honda, Mazda, etc. Whether it's bad or good experience, they're all more or less the same, that's what people do not understand about car dealerships. It depends on the day, the person, the location, how YOU deal with the sales folks is going to determine how your experience is. Its business not personal. I've gone to a lot of different dealerships and had a horrible experience in sales, then go back to the same dealership for a different deal with a different salesperson and had an excellent experience. But I get it, 90% of people hate buying cars because they're trying to make money and you're trying to save money, it's a long-drawn-out process, its stressful, it sucks and in the end buyers are unhappy. My advice, be prepared by doing your research and you'll have a good experience like me regardless of what dealership you're at. Just so we are transparent. We have purchased 2 vehicles from this dealership and have used them to service our Nissan vehicles over the last 5 - 7 years. Recently, our 2007 Altima had a 'Service Engine Soon' message displayed on the dashboard. This was after having a 120K service and a Complete Vehicle Health Check for Safety and Performance scan service in June. I was told I needed another complete vehicle health check scan service (at a cost of $325 again) to determine the cause for the displayed message. I felt this was unnecessary and that an experienced and knowledgeable mechanic should review my previous repair services to explore other diagnostic tools instead of the more costly complete vehicle heath check scan. The service personnel acknowledge my response but stated they need to perform the complete vehicle health check scan. Needless to say, I am very disappointed in the lack of qualified service personnel at this dealership and will be looking for another dealership to handle my automotive needs in the future. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR SERVICES! I bought a brand new car with zero miles here. After only having the car for 6 months, the power of my car was slowly going out. I go to take it in & meet Brian, who becomes my service coordinator. I let him know the issues I'm having. Later that day he asks to keep my car for another day & I let him. The next day comes, which is a Saturday, & he tells me that he needs to order parts for my car & Nissan needs to approve the invoice so he needs the car until Monday. I tell him that I commute to both my jobs (Foster City & SF) & that I was not going to be able to sacrifice not having a car. I end up picking up my car because he tells me Nissan does not give out rentals & I tell him to just let me know when the parts arrive. 2 weeks pass & I've called Nissan almost every day to get ahold of Brian, some days I even called 3 times. Nothing happens, he never even tries to give me a call back. Then finally, the front desk receptionist gives me the Service Managers number. I'm introduced to Sean G., who ends up telling me sob stories about his employees & why they were not able to get back to me. I understand that things happen, but all I'm asking for is communication. At this point my car is randomly break checking me & sometimes not even starting. He tells me that he will deal with my case from then on. Once again, I kept calling & calling for another 2 weeks and still nothing. Then one day, I'm getting into my car to go to work & my trunk refuses to open. At this point I'm fed up. My mom then goes to internal affairs to file a complaint & gets a reference number with consumer affairs. FINALLY, a woman by the name of Karen Vint calls me, sets me up with a rental & gets my car into services. I wish I could say the story ends there.... After having my car for over a month, they give me a call to let me know my car is ready for pickup. I go to pick up my car & when I get into my car, there's a large crack on my windshield & a scratch on my car. I then report it to Brian, who doesn't even appear to care. He goes to talk to the service manager, SEAN GHODOOSIAN. Brian comes back & tells me that the crack was due to a rock & they were not liable for it even if it wasn't there when I dropped the car off. I asked multiple times to speak to Sean, & he refused to speak to me. Karen Vint was the only person to come out & express care & concern. She tried 3 different times to have Sean speak to me but he continued to refuse. If you want your car to get care, do not take it here. The retards at Capital Nissan did their big one this morning: With an appointment booked for Friday at 11AM, I am counting on Tony to obviously let me know if this car sells as I live over an hour away (he is aware of this). I arrive to the dealership from Berkeley a few minutes early to be polite. I get out of my car and enter the showroom. Staff walks by me. Finally, someone asks if I need something. I let them know I have an appointment with Tony at 11. Tony comes out, shakes my hand and makes sure that I'm coming to see the Audi E Tron. I confirm and he says they'll pull the car around momentarily. After waiting for a few minutes, he comes out and says, "oh man I guess they didn't tell anybody they sold it to the wholesaler. Rodents had gotten into the wiring of the car." Not really a "I am so sorry". The guy knows I live in Berkeley. Terrible sales team. Doesn't try to offer another option, nothing, like he's got too much to do to get me a new ride. I would rather buy a car from Temu than from Tony or Capital Nissan San Jose. 0/10 do NOT recommend. FYI - last year or so they changed ownership from Premier Nissan of San Jose to Capitol Nissan which means staff changes, price increases, and no shuttle service. I do not recommend the new Capital Nissan group for car service. I tried going there with the new ownership and left a few minutes later with refusing to move forward with my appt. They have high rates (over $300 for diagnostic only) and no shuttle service even with long wait times for repairs. Before this ownership change, I only went to Premier Nissan of San Jose for many years (since 2019), and worked well with their service staff, Joseph, who was extremally helpful with keeping me posted about my car and pricing. They also offered a shuttle which Danny was always saving me time by getting me to work while Nissan worked on my car. read more

Hidden Fees & Poor Post-Sale Handling I had a very disappointing experience with Capitol Nissan due to unexpected charges and lack of transparency after my vehicle purchase. I was verbally told the Starguard system was included free of charge, yet later found a $579 charge in my paperwork. I was never assisted with setup, and when I returned later my car was taken to the back without my authorization. If anything was installed, it was done without my consent. A manager later accused me of agreeing to this charge, which I did not. Weeks after the sale, I was also contacted and asked to pay an additional $248 for DMV fees that were never disclosed or included in the signed paperwork. Despite multiple attempts to resolve these issues directly, the dealership has not provided clear explanations or resolution. I've since had to escalate the matter to Nissan Corporate and several consumer protection agencies. Buying a car should not involve surprise charges after the fact. I strongly recommend that future buyers review every fee carefully and get all promises in writing. read more

I visited this dealership looking to finance a used vehicle. I ended up being lied to by the sales manager Carlos D. When going over the financing I told the manager I wanted to use my bank to finance. He told me no problem we can use my bank. I wait a few minutes for him to talk to my bank. He comes back and offers me 16% APR, which is insanely high for someone with decent credit. He told me that "honestly I'm surprised you got an interest rate that low and you should take it". I contacted my bank a few days later to see why it was so high. I was told that they approved me for 6% APR. and on top of that they did not have any record of any dealership applying for a loan on my behalf. So long story short I was blatantly lied to to get me into a super high interest loan. And I was lied to that he called my bank. I would recommend going to a more honest dealership or at least avoid the sales manager there as he was not interested in helping people get a good car for a decent price, but rather is only looking to maximize his commission. read more

Bad Experience!!! We were given a three-day hold on a car. We also had given them the deposit to hold-on the car for three days as agreed. We rushed to arrange the cheque and had it ready on third day early morning at 9am. We then notified the dealership that we coming to pick up the car at 10 am . And then they said they already sold it to someone else. Why would you guarantee a three-day hold and take deposit from us if you were planning to sell it to someone else anyway?
