We were a party of six and came here looking for a great breakfast to end our weekend. It took over 45 minutes to get our food, we all ordered breakfast foods so 45 minutes is a long time to wait for omelette and French Toast. You have to pay $1 extra for cheese in an already overpriced omelette. The food in general is very overpriced. I get that it's a tourist town, but this was one of our most expensive meals of the entire weekend. I have no problem paying high prices if the food is worth it. Once the food arrived, the eggs Benedict were cooked completely through. So my cousin asked for new poached eggs, which were brought out very quickly, but were also almost completely cooked. The omelette had very little cheese, most of which was on top of the omelette...that $1 wasn't worth it! Most of our food was warm or cold, the only thing that was hot was the second order of poached eggs. Service was not good. Staff was friendly but it took 15 min to get a cup of coffee. The coffee would have held me over until the food came which took forever. They were not busy expect for 1 large table and had plenty of staff to handle it. Food was decent. Not the greatest home fries though. We didn't like this place at all. Very overpriced, and really subpar food. My daughter asked if they had chocolate chip pancakes, and the server answered yes but that it would be $1 extra. We said that was fine. She was served regular pancakes with about 15 chocolate chips in a little circle sprinkled on top the first pancake. What?!? For a $1 extra? Ridiculous. The biscuits and gravy had no flavor, and the eggs and hash browns were bland and over cooked. For what we paid for this meal, we certainly expected something to taste good, but nothing did. Capitol was our first food stop in Williamsburg the morning after our arrival. The place could use a coat of paint, a vacuum, and a good scrub.. but the food was good enough. We came here on a Sunday and the place was PACKED. As such service was slow and our waitress was obviously frazzled, while this is not the restaurant's fault it is still worth noting. The food was acceptable, not bad but certainly not great, but vastly overpriced. We both got omelette meals and coffee and it came out to almost 35 dollars! The atmosphere is nice and open and sunny, which would have been very nice if we could hear each other over the commotion. While Capitol Pancakes is certainly not the worst breakfast place I've eaten at, it is vastly inferior to the plentiful pancake spots throughout Williamsburg, as such I can't give it a good review on good conscious. read more

Went late in the morning. Not too crowded. Clean, well setup, modern restaurant. Waitress got our coffee and water quickly and took our order. Food came back fast. I had a ham and cheese omelette and home fries. My wife also got an omelette and potatoes. My food was very good, hot and even the toast was actually buttered. Waitress checked back with us and was very attentive. Wife really liked her omelette but wished the home fries we crispier. Of course she wants everything crisp. Everyone is crazy. The food is pretty good, a bit expensive for breakfast, but if you're a local they give you a punch card that also includes a 20 percent discount every time you go. I was looking for something reasonably priced that was close to my hotel and Capitol Pancake House delivered and exceeded my expectations. Visited Williamsburg for the Christmas holidays and before heading home we decided to stop here for breakfast. I'm a chicken and waffle kinda girl so what better thing to order once I saw it in the menu. I placed my order and asked what parts of the chicken do I get,my waitress said whatever I like. So I order breast and wing. She later told me that bc the breast is too big I can't get the wing. It's a normal size breast I received. I think for the price a breast and wing would have be sufficient, nope I got 1 waffle and a piece of breast. After reading the reviews I can agree the chicken has no flavor. I would recommend they work on seasoning the chicken. The waffle was dry and crunchy. Overall this place is just ok nothing to rave about. Won't be back if I should ever visit again read more

This was mine and my husband's first visit. We waited 30 minutes for just one refill on our drinks. (Every other table has pitchers of tea on their's) We had to get up and find our own silverware, syrup and ketchup. The syrup was watery and nasty. Our waitress finally came around and gave us some new syrup after having our food for 10 minutes. Food was okay. After ordering our food we waited for 35 minutes or longer. I say 5 stars, my wife says 3. Good food in a basic diner environment. Good service. We had breakfast. I asked for the home fries to be burned, and they came.... weird. Really good, but weird. They almost looked like they had been deep fried, but they weren't greasy at all. An even, nice golden brown all over, with no burnt spots like you'd get from doing them in a pan. So I said let me try it and indeed it did taste like sour piss, this was only the begining of the horror show. The pancakes came out with the homefries, the pancakes were like rubber discs you could play fetch with the family dog. I mean you need a ginzu knife to cut through them. They also tasted like a rubber soul of a shoe. Then I said well the home fries can't be that bad, well they were they tasted like raw potato with no seasoning what so ever. Visiting from Florida. Our breakfast for 4 people was 62.00! We had 3 cups of coffee that totaled 8.97! Cheese and egg whites have a $ 1.00 upcharge. The portions were large, ordered pancakes but the syrup had an aftertaste taste- cod liver oil- YUCK! Sooooooo we ended using honey instead. My family had waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, one order of GF pancakes with strawberries and cream, and some omelettes. Everything was good - the omelettes were a little overcooked but still pretty good. It's a little pricey for what it is, but we would go back.
