This review is for the Puffcake Popup. I really hope this sticks around! I think it's been about a year and it's still very popular. We booked reservations for 9am and there were only a few tables occupied when we arrived, but by the time we left there were tons of people waiting outside. Not sure if they had reservations or not. Our server was very nice but definitely seemed busy and we occasionally had to wait for a while but it was all worth it. The fancy iced lattes are fabulous. I had a coconut ube one and loved it. Also loved the tropical souffle pancakes. The passion fruit syrup was very thick and sweet and I recommend dipping your fork in there and then into bites of pancake rather than pouring it all over, but that's just me. I've knocked off a star because I think it's honestly kinda pricey for brunch but definitely fun for a treat. Overall it was a nice experience and I'd come back again.
We visited Capri during breakfast specifically for their soufflé pancakes, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. From the moment we sat down, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. The vibe was spot on, the drinks were thoughtfully crafted, and the food was absolutely worth the trip. We ordered sides of hash browns and bacon. The hash browns were perfectly crispy...exactly how I like them. The bacon had great flavor, though I personally would have loved it a little crispier. Of course, the star of the show was the soufflé pancakes. We tried the Crème Brûlée, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Berry Compote flavors, and every single one was light, fluffy, flavorful, and beautifully presented. They were sweet without being overwhelming and perfectly suited our palate. I also tried the pistachio coffee. It was a little more earthy than I typically prefer, but if you're a fan of pistachio-forward flavors, you'll likely enjoy it. Overall, Capri delivered an exceptional breakfast experience.
Went to Capri for their puff cake breakfast special and wow, what a great experience! My mom and I had seen videos of the extraordinary breakfasts online and knew we just had to check it out. We made a reservation online for the main dining room and were seated promptly when we arrived. Our server Angela was very attentive and friendly and took great care of us. My mom ordered the Dubai chocolate latte and I got the crème brûlée latte. Both were delicious, but I preferred the crème brûlée was my personal favorite. For food, we got a sharing plate with a French toast cube and a puff cake. The French toast cube had a berry compote and ricotta cheese, and the puff cake had a delicious vanilla custard and strawberries on top. Both were delicious, but the puff cake really stood out to me. I'd definitely recommend this place as a great special occasion breakfast for anyone with a sweet tooth!
This place is so good! From the customer service down to the actual meal, everything always meets or exceeds my expectations. The vibe is so cute and cozy, very welcoming for events or just a simple date. I love to get a mini bowl with broccoli, potatoes, crab legs, corn and mussels with their the mix flavor.
Review is for puffcake popup, not seafood. Been seeing these viral puff cakes on my socials for a minute and decided to finally try them for myself. Making a reservation online was easy peasy and so was parking since it was a Sunday and free :) Immediately greeted and seated for our reservation. Our server Destiny was prompt, friendly and energetic. All the staff were kind and friendly to be honest. We started out with some nifty lattes and a chocolate bomb hot cocoa that was as entertaining as it was delicious. Then came the puff cakes. The s'mores had a liquid chocolate topping that flowed like lava. The strawberry was smothered in custard and berries, and the plain were as advertised. Even though the smothered versions aren't quite as healthy, the toppings helped add some needed flavor. The light and airy risen puff cake by itself is a bit plain just like a regular plain pancake would be and just need a little something to add some flavor; even if it's just some maple syrup. I will add that the custard and chocolate topping by themselves were really tasty. All in all it was a wonderful experience that I look forward to trying again in the future!

Rating: 4.0 Came to try this place for breakfast as they are offering Japanese pancake during specific days. Usually this place is cajun seafood boil place so this review will only cover their Japanese pancake offering. It's a restaurant located on federal hill. Parking can be difficult to find but we were able to find some parkings on the street beside the restaurant. They have covered patio and inside is rather smaller area with some seatings, counter and a bar. They seem to be busy so we did have our reservation which we made about hour prior to coming to the location. I would recommend for those that want to come here. Once we arrived we were immediately sat down and looked through their menu. They offer variety of Japanese fluffy pancake paired with sweets and fruits or savory option as well. They offer some drinks mainly lattes and juice. I ended up getting the breakfast scramble pancake and hot cocoa bomb. Food came out first. The breakfast came with 2 fluffy pancake, scrambled eggs with scallions, home fries, sausage, onions, and maple syrup. The pancake was fluffy and paired well with the sides. I feel like though something like hollandaise sauce would have taken the dish up a notch instead of just simple maple syrup. The hot cocoa bomb was interesting as you get the cup with marshmallow rim and a chocolate ball where you pour hot milk yo melt and mix the chocolate. Conceptually fun but chocolate wasn't great quality and didn't mix well and marshmallow rim was hard to eat. Taste was ok it ended up tasting like light chocolate and more milk since chocolate didn't mix well. Service was good and staffs were nice. The order came out in about 5-10 minutes Overall I think the place is ok. Definitely has its own place in RI because of the Japanese pancake offering which we don't see a-lot of place do yet. But aside from that food was ok and price was expensive for what they offer. I ended up paying about $80 for 2 pancake and drinks. I had Japanese fluffy pancake and drinks for about half of that price in Japan that was better quality. If you want Japanese fluffy pancake and can't make it yourself this is the place at least for now.
We made reservations online and were seated immediately upon arrival. It was pouring rain and even though we had selected a patio seat, they had the flexibility to seat us inside, which we appreciated. (FYI the patio is covered so we could have sat outside) We knew exactly what we wanted so we placed our drink and pancake order and eagerly awaited for them to arrive. While we knew the soufflé pancakes would take about 25ish minutes to prepare, as stated on their menu, we weren't expecting our drinks to take 30 minutes to arrive. Our soufflé pancakes arrived minutes after our drinks, so we were able to enjoy them together. This extended wait time was the only downside of our visit today. We LOVED our soufflé pancakes, they are unlike anything we have tried before. The fresh fruit and toppings are equally as delicious and my tropical paradise came with a house made passion fruit maple syrup, which was outstanding. Definitely worth the hype.
This past weekend, Rhode Island's first soufflé pancake experience by Puffcake began their pop-up at Capri Seafood Friday - Sunday from 10am-2pm (or until sold out-Limited quantities daily). On social media, I saw that the Japanese soufflé pancakes were sold out by 11:30am-12:00pm on Saturday, so I stopped by on Sunday, June 15th about 9:50am and there was already a queue outside Capri Seafood. At 10am, the doors opened and the hostess sat groups timed apart. This was my first time at Capri Seafood and the restaurant is very spacious. There is an outside patio with plenty of tables and seating inside. We got seated at 10:40am inside and by 11:00am, we were enjoying our drinks and Japanese soufflé pancakes. Paola was our server and she was very pleasant. I ordered the dragonberry matcha and tropical paradise soufflé pancakes. The dragonberry matcha had matcha, whole milk, dragon fruit, and strawberry infused cold foam. The drink was aesthetically pleasing and very good. The matcha was definitely a higher grade. Now, time for the pancakes. The pancakes are made fresh to order. The soufflé pancakes were jiggly, soft, fluffy, and airy, just like how the pancakes were when I had it in Japan. It is very on par, but maybe the pancakes in Japan were a little more airy since their eggs and ingredients are different, very negligible difference. Every bite melts in your mouth. The kiwi, strawberry, and mango were fresh. The syrup was tangy and zesty. It was very well done and so glad we can find Japanese soufflé pancakes right in Providence. I saw on social media on Sunday, the pancakes were sold out again. My husband had the Crème brûlée latte and the breakfast soufflé pancakes. He said both were very good. Though, he preferred the sweet pancakes over the savory pancakes. Puffcake pop-up at Capri Seafood is definitely worth checking out. If you do not want to wait too long, then definitely get there early and be on the queue. The soufflé pancake experience with drinks by Puffcake is definitely worth the wait!
What if you combined the worst things about bad French toast (the eggy, mushy taste and mouth feel) with pancakes? You get the Puffcake that's apparently all the rage on TikTok and Instagram and selling out the seafood restaurant first shift every day with reservation only enthusiasts from hypeville. $6 for 3/4 of a little glass of "hand pressed" orange juice? You got it. Service that's super slow, but friendly? Sure. $50 for inflated eggy, puffy pancakes and bacon for two? This is your place. It's not mine for sure. You may love it, however, especially if you're a millennial or Gen Z, and easily impressed by social media eating exploits. Enjoy. I want my hour and 10 minutes back.
It had been a while since I'd been to Capri. Stopped by on a Friday night for a seafood boil. Took some time to find parking. Staff was nice & service was fast. Cocktails were really good, and the seafood boil was good, although it could've used more sauce. We ordered the capri calamari, and it's been a couple years since I had it, but I do remember it being tossed in the sweet chili sauce. They served the sauce on the side, and it's def better tossed in the sauce. Overall it was a good experience, but it's not my favorite place for a seafood boil. I can get more bang for my buck in other places. My fave part of the meal was the cocktails.
Super cold weather perfect for some trendy breaky day~ parking was available today, and the walk was very chilly. Not too hard to find since the door way and big capri sign is prominent ~ we held a reservation and were seated quickly, since online it stated that reservations were recommended due to the hype of the pancakes trend. Place looks small and they are only open for the puffcake pop-up from 10am-12pm and regular service of Capri at 1pmServer was kind and very attentive. While she took my order, she solely focused on each person~ For drinks I ordered the hot s'more latte and for the meal, an ultimate breakfast that has bacon, hash brown, and a Puffcake. I also ordered a banana foster sauce side to get some sauce variety~ my latte was warm and cozy, and very pretty. The pancakes were very fluffy and sweet. Glad I ordered the savory menu because I wanted something somewhat healthy with protein. I ordered the side foster on the side and it was banana with syrup. My meal was enjoyable and pretty! Outstanding and worth the line outside? Not really. Felt like I was here for the pictures, which I was drawn too~ The service was very good though~ kind, attentive and prompt.
Came in for the soufflé pancakes after seeing them on Instagram -- and they didn't disappoint. Loved that the menu was simple and straight to the point. Right at the top, it clearly states: "Your order will take 25 minutes as it's freshly prepared," which sets expectations upfront -- a thoughtful touch. They focus on what they do best: soufflé pancakes, a handful of house coffee drinks, and two alcoholic options. I ordered the crème brûlée latte -- the real test is whether they torch the sugar. They did, and it was perfect. A great balance of caramelized sugar and smooth coffee. Only recommendation: go lighter on the ice, as it waters down the experience too quickly. Also had the peach Bellini, which was another hit -- bursting with flavor and reminded me of a passionfruit (parcha) drink. The soufflé crème brûlée pancake was light, fluffy, and full of that rich crème brûlée flavor, complete with a caramelized top. Added a side of hash browns -- nicely crisped and served hot alongside the rest of the meal. Surprisingly, everything came out in under 15 minutes despite the 25-minute heads-up -- impressive. The team worked efficiently, and the atmosphere was relaxed. A great spot for a laid-back Sunday brunch date.
If you're feeling gluttonous and I normally am, then go to Capri Seafood! I had the Mac & Cheese, Cajun Fries, Madd Ribs annnnnnnnd the Mini Combo. I see you judging me for all that food, lol, but my girlfriend helped me eat it all and we polished the plates. Everything was cooked perfectly, had massive kick (I asked for extra spice) and great service as well. Surprisingly, considering it's a seafood restaurant, my favorite part of the meal was the Mad Ribs! It was sweet, tangy, tender and nice outward crispiness. While visiting Rhode Island, we tried Capri Seafood. I ordered crab legs, broccoli, shrimp, corn, potatoes and mussels. My husband ordered a side of Brussel sprouts but couldn't help himself from eating from my plate. Everything was fresh and delicious. read more
First time stopping by for a quick meet up with a friend and I was wowed by how tasty the salmon dinner plate was. I usually add extra salt and pepper to my food at restaurants because it's usually bland for me, but not here. It wasn't salty or unsalted it was perfect. The sage dijon was just right. I also omitted the bacon from my brussel sprouts and that was delicious. Definitely will be back to try out the other dishes. Oh yea, and the ambience is nice and service staff was so sweet. I asked for medium well steak, was given this. This was my first meal of the day (a late one i know) and couldn't enjoy it. I tried to eat the parts that were somewhat done but obviously it wasn't much. I called back and the service wasn't much help either. If you want decent service eat inside, don't call and order takeout. read more

Got to sit on the spacious outside patio. Strawberry & Lime Margaritas: they were OK- tasted like they were made from a premade mix and strong I ordered 1/2 lb snow crab with side of steamed rice. My partner ordered 1/2 lb of peeled shrimp with bread and salad. Both with Capri Cajun seasoning. It was SO delicious. You can choose your spice level from no spice to double suicidal. We split a lobster macaroni and cheese. Omg it was the best I'd ever had. I wanna come back and try all their different seafood seasonings- garlic & butter, lemon pepper, tom yum (esp this one!), da mix, and capri kickin. read more

My experience here was fine. I wasn't sure what the vibe was. The space is beautifully decorated but people were in crocs so I felt overdressed. The food was good and came out quickly. Drinks were also fine but not strong. Unfortunately our table was charged incorrectly but otherwise it was a nice experience. Parking sucks so be prepared. read more
We went back for our 2nd visit. Our first visit was in the summer. It was nice and cool inside and we enjoyed our lobster ravioli and shrimp po' boy. But while we were there we saw others enjoying a crab boil so we returned to try it. Again, the resturant was cozy and warm since it's now winter. I'm dairy free so I had to ask questions but was happy to hear I could get the capri seasoning with dairy. For apps, we had that ahi tuna which was perfect and my husband enjoyed Alaskan king crab legs with butter and garlic. For dinner he ordered a hot buttered lobster roll which he also enjoyed. I got the mini combo with snow crab, shrimp, and mussels (but you could also choose clam) in the capri sauce. I f'n loved it. I now know I like crab and I want to go back with friends. Now to the serious deets, if you are a traditional tiny fork and nut cracker person they only give you scissors here so bring yo' own tiny fork. Our entree came out soon after our apps so we recommend not ordering the entree until you're almost done with your app. The white wine we ordered was too cold but we're that kinda wine person. All in all, very enjoyable and tasty. Go try it yourself. read more

Food was good, maybe other than the crab? Inconsistent timing between patron orders. We got our app (calamari) after about 45 minutes, but got the entrees about 5 minutes after these? The server misheard and gave us an extra app we didn't order (chicken wings), but the wings were really good, moist with a great sweet chili sauce. Would be fine if they didn't then charge us for it. Crab was not the greatest, which is surprising since we could see the water from where we were sitting. Must be the way it was prepped. The dry rub sauce was ok, but clumped in several continents on the potatoes and crab, which led to a powdery surprise in your mouth every so often. The server forgot the shelling tools, even after a reminder. Ribs were probably the highlight, very tender and tasty. Generous servings of fries. Steak was very well done (not temperature, but quality and cook), and the mashed potatoes were generous and flavorful. With the typical "i know good help is hard to find, esp. in covid times" caveat, the service was a dud. The hostess might have been auditioning for real hostesses of federal hill: lots of attitude, eye rolling, and blank stares. The server was somewhat inexperienced, with quite a few misses, as well as offering a free shower from a glass of water to the super-loud ladies sitting behind us. When I stepped inside, it seemed like the spring phone olympics, with almost all the staff in severe throes of texting or scrolling. That's all fine, if the wait and service wasn't so inconsistent. They did seem to get oysters out quickly, so that might be a good choice if you are hungry, so there's that. Decor was fine, with typical rope-based designs you can find at all seafood locations. We were "seated" outside, alternating between cool March air or a dry Florida heat from overhead ventilation. The inside was somewhat packed, with 2 or 3 tables and a bar section. One bathroom, so plan your trip purposefully. Parking wasn't bad, there was some monitored parking for 20 bucks within walking distance, or street parking in front of the hotel. 10/10 would probably not return. The search continues! read more

This is mean and hate. I got scammed and I let them do it. My lobster Fra diavolo has two small pieces of lobster , full of cream and cheese. Nothing like a fra diavolo. The waitress put on a show kept saying " I hope you come back" when I can see through her what she meant was - never come back. I played along and let them scam me. Whoever cooked my food should not be a chef. Terrible person for food. No moral or ethics. Bad restaurant. Not worth the money. Thank you for hurting me. I will never come back for your unnecessary fatty disgusting food. I will scrape the scum off my blood vessels and paste it into your restaurant sign when I have heart disease. read more

2nd time going and everything was great. Quick service and food came out quick; it was a sunday night and not too busy. We had calamari as app and shares a combo plate. The seafood was great, loved the cajun seasoning; only complaint is it was a bit too oily. The bottom of the plate was full oil. Drinks , gin and tonic was good and my friend's capri passion was good and strong. No valet (unless we missed it) so parking was not fun. read more

The moment you walk in through the doors the smell smacks your nose, practically tasting the food and all it's flavors. The drinks are super good and strong ! The food at Capri was simply amazing. Our waiter, V, was very kind and helpful when it came to exploring the menu. It was a beautiful day in PVD so we sat outside in the patio area. My gf and I had the crab legs + shrimp combo with "Da Mix" seasoning, which is a combination of three different seasonings including lemon pepper, butter and garlic, plus another one. The seasoning and crab legs were delicious. We also tried the Panko Shrimp as an appetizer. They were very good and the sweet and spicy sauce that came alongside of it was delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. I was super elated to find this place. I'm uncertain why finding a seafood place in PVD is such a big deal, but this one is worth it. I'd highly consider it for a date night. You can always split a combo and come out with a reasonable deal. read more

Experience 2/5 Food 4/5 Service 3/5 I visited here while on my business trip. When I entered the outer part of the restaurant, there was nobody to initially greet me. I entered to the main door of the restaurant workers weren't busy but wasn't paying much attention. I was asked to wait and they assumed I was here for food delivery when I said table for one. I repeated a few times until they realized the waiter that wasn't supposed to be out in the front didn't catch me go in. I was eventually greeted and then seated but was a bit odd experience. Especially when there were not that busy on a Wednesday night post dinner time. Once I got seated and then ordered, it took them almost 45 minutes to get me anything. No oysters that I ordered and not even checking in. If a customer comes in late and orders $90 worth of food, they were likely hungry. I was sitting in the outer seating area with another small group on the other side. After about 45 min I got my oysters and then about 10 minutes after, I received my entree. The seafood itself seemed in good quality so no complaints there but they put quite a bit of seasoning paste which I wasn't expecting. But no big deal. Waitress was nice when she was around. I'm just overall quite disappointed for a well known place. I had other options, but decided to take a visit. Unfortunately, I will probably not return. read more

Sat on the outdoor patio the other night at Capri for dinner. Ordered the Trio Combo (1/2 each) which included lobster tail, snow crab leg, and peeled shrimp. Every combo includes corn, potatoes, and sausage. By recommendation from our host, my partner and I chose the Capri Cajun seasoning with medium spice. It was DELICIOUS. The flavors mixed well into the seafood as well as the sides! I usually do not eat the potatoes at seafood boil restaurants because they are usually just steamed but at Capri they immersed them into the Cajun sauce. I loved it. Great portion to share for two people as well. Service was prompt and friendly. Would definitely go back for another date night or even with a group of friends. read more

The best seafood boil in town! Combining cajun seasonings and asian spices it is a fresh & unique approach to how New England eats the freshest seafood. The staff is friendly and helpful. Drinks are diverse and equally as yummy! One of my favorite places to dine. Our go to dish is a seafood boil that combines cajun and Tom yum seasonings- you can add your favorite seafood from lobster to crawfish. The results are fireworks! Ask for the Cambodian style dipping sauce, just an extra flavorful addition. The taste is so complex with the many sweet sour notes and the hint of spice in between. In addition to the seafood boils there are also staple dishes such as mac & cheeese, fresh oysters and the list goes on! Disappointment is not an option at Capri. read more
I got the lobster Mac and cheese and the seafood boil. The Mac and cheese is decent I would give it a 7.5/10 only because it can be a put water on the bottom because of the lobster juice and that can be off putting and the boil is pretty good I would give it a sold 8/10 although they run on the more expensive side. I would give them a higher rating if they didn't just take their BEST pasta out of the menu fortunately, I would go back again and again simply for that blackened shrimp pasta but they have since removed it from their menu. The service varies from eh to average on a typical night out and the atmosphere is nice although the outdoor seating is way better and more spacious than the indoor seating. The indoor seating is small and a bit cramped and the only thing annoying about the outdoor seating is the uneven bricks make your seat wobbly sometimes but they do have space heaters so it's usually always warm. read more

The food gets a 5 star and the service gets a 2 star. The guy who owns the place has terrible customer service. Our food took over an hour to come out and a friend had a meeting to attend, we asked the owner if he could take the meeting virtually in the back on his laptop. Yes, I know this was a above and beyond request especially due to COVID. Instead of just politely advising us this isn't something that could be done he rudely told us no. Ruining the entire experience for us as well as our food taking so long. We saw him serval times throughout the diner stoping at other tables opening Champaign and laughing but he never stopped to see how we were doing. Smh just terrible business ... read more

Here's the thing with seafood spots.. they're only AMAZING in the summer time. Seafoods fresh and tasty. Capri is my go to when I'm in the mood for crab legs! Their House sauce "Da mix" is top tier! What separates this Seafood boil from like .. every other place is that they dice your potatoes! It's easier to eat and they don't hold back. Staff is super cool, ask for V! I'm only giving it a 3 star because as the summer dies down, the seafood starts to taste as if it was previously frozen. Just my observation. I'll still go and order everything off the menu. read more

BIG RATS RUNNING I WAS getting ready to bite Into my SNOW CRABS and The RAT came running from under my table across my feet into a corner all do is SCREAM. I told the waitress she dismissed it. I asked for the manager he came over to the table. I quietly whispered into ear about the BiG RAT.I could no longer continue my meal my appetite was lost. My anxiety kicked in along with my fear, he dismissed it as well. The manager took my food into the back I never seen my food again The manager even went so far to lie to me.The manager said he review the camera with his boss. I was told after reviewing the camera the RAT ran behind us which was a lie. I requested the contact information for his Boss and refused to give it to me.The reply was I can't give you that information. I can only give you my name. First visit to Rhode Island to visit family and this was her seafood suggestion. I must say, I was pleasantly pleased. I had the crab legs and shrimp with "Da Mix" seasoning, Spicy! It was an hit! So much so, it's imperative that I return before my last day in town! The atmosphere was pleasant and the waiter was pretty awesome. I'd suggest making a reservation, since this place is not a large establishment. There is outdoor seating, but it was a bit chilly outside to partake in that option. Takeout is also available. I decided I wanted a good seafood boil type of meal tonight i looked on Yelp and Google for nearby seafood restaurants near my hotel. I found a gem. Capri Seafood is a small but powerful seafood restaurant with a great atmosphere and genuine servers. I had the combo platter with crab legs, lobster tails, sausage, potatoes, and corn. I had the garlic & butter sauce, with Cajun seasoning on the medium spice side. EVERYTHING was spectacular! If I am in the Providence area again, I will come back. Great job Capri Seafood! read more

Love this place highly recommend, I'm a flight attendant and I came here with my mom and we had a great time, Great drinks. Definitely eat the macaroni with lobster, it was so cheesy and full of flavor, no fishy taste from the lobster. Highly recommended. read more
