Back ground music so loud you could not hear what your partner was saying. Now with that said they do need to make some adjustments and they have only been in this location for 4 months. The ceasar salad was wonderful. Veal Parm my friend said was the best he has had in a very long time. Tortellini was perfect with peas and alfredo sauce. Waiter was very attentive even though resturant was busy. Sea Bass was excellent. Soup and salad tasty and fresh. Cannoli flaky and very good. Everyone in my party agreed their food was very good too. If any thing, I was a little disappointed with small list of Martini's considering they advertise Martini's in there window. But I had an italian and lemon drop martini. Both were mixed very well. Parking was a bit of a hassle. Manager stated they are working with village of Plainfield to have valet parking on weekends. So that is a possibility in near future. If making reservations on a chilly night, request at time to be seated away from door. Brrrr. I read the reviews. I get an overall synopsis of what to expect. There was recently a bad review, but the rest seemed pretty good. You know, people sometimes have an off day. So we decided to make a reservation and try it out. Talk about fantastic. The food was fantastic. The service by Marsha was beyond fantastic. Very rare does a waitress/waiter go that far out of the way. She was not over powering, but had impeccable timing. The menu was full of different dishes that anyone who comes will find something they like. The grilled seafood platter was properly cooked and the tortellini paesano was superb. If you are looking for an incredible Italian restaurant, this is the place. And hey, you might just catch us there. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Capri Sogno's sign tells you that they're old school. They advertise correctly. Generous portions of Italian-American favorites are well-prepared, and every course has winners. My favorite is the Pollo Limone, similar to chicken Piccata, served with a side of pasta. Also strong is the Gnocchi Bolognese. Their salads could use a little bit of elevation, but overall, this is a great neighborhood destination. read more

Found this place on Yelp while I was looking for local Italian food that wasn't a chain restaurant! We came on a Saturday night. Table for 2. We did not have to wait for a table. We ordered a bottle of wine. The wine was amazing! The portions are massive. The restaurant is clean and cosy. A little on the pricier side (it's not your local olive garden) the food and portions are worth the price. Free parking but it can be tricky finding a spot on the streets as it's always crowded. Waitress was very attentive but not to overshadowing. Service was a 10/10. Food was a 10/10. Wine was a 5/10 I'm giving it a five not because it wasn't good but the price caught me off guard ( not the restaurants fault they have to make a profit. ) I ordered a $20 (Target bottle) but paid $45 at the restaurant. (Why am I not in the restaurant business already? I heard it's family owned for that reason I will be back again. Our bill plus tip was $150 for 2 people. Well worth the trip! read more

We stopped by Capri thinking that it would be a similar experience to the Capri in Burr Ridge. We were very wrong in this assumption.... We sat at the bar and planned to order a drink and then split some appetizers. We ordered our drinks with the bartender who then referenced the book she had in order to make them. She poured my martini into the glass, only filling it halfway. Another bartender then had to come and make a new batch, which she then poured on top of what the previous woman had poured rather than starting over. My boyfriend ordered a Manhattan that came out bright red (assuming she added in a ton of maraschino cherry juice). Based on how our drinks turned out we decided it would be better to find somewhere else to eat and did not order food. Hopefully the food saves this place! read more

A smaller version of the Burr Ridge location that I frequent quite often. Food is very good. Potions are indeed quite large and the service was exceptional. It is a very small place so do make a reservation and if it's cold outside you don't want to be at a table the front of the room. Eat at the bar! Oh yah, it's fun and you get entertained by all the commotion going on. I had the bracciole which was very good. My wife had the sole and it was delicious. This was my second time at Capri. Last summer we ate outside so this was the first time I was seated indoors. Our server, Tony, was attentive, polite and professional. The crusty bread and olive oil was excellent. I ordered the lemon chicken with a salad. The house dressing was delicious and the salad was crisp and fresh. The chicken was tender and the lemon sauce was tasty. Side dish of pasta and sauce was good. The decor is charming and quaint. Good food, but shady business practices. Be sure to check your bill for hidden charges. My group got check for $50 so give him card, and it's swiped for $55, an extra $5 from the original bill? Why, you may ask? The reason for the error, or so I was told, was that the upstairs and downstairs dining areas have different POS systems, and my order was confused with another party's After speaking to the chef/owner, he confirmed the waiter lied, and there is only ONE POS system , and he confirmed that the waiter probably made a mistake. So, what does he do? He says his waiter made a mistake, and the error is on me. Makes no senses, apparently Capri sogno customers are responsible for their waiters mistakes. Service is totally sub par here, which is a shame since the food is good. I keep wanting to come back, but may not be coming back anymore There Is no way this was a mistake, because I was given a bill, then gave my card, so it only has to be swiped, nothing has to be added or anything. My wife and I have been to this restaurant many times and have also recommended it to others. We took 2 guests there from out of town. Needless to say, that was a mistake and were very unhappy with the food, seating and lack of response from their management. We were seated at the table right in front of the bar and the front door. Awful experience! It is like you are in a fish bowl being watched by the wait staff hanging around the bar as well as people standing at the front door waiting for a table. The food was very dry and lacked flavor. One out of the 4 dishes we ordered was liked. Afterward, we tried to call and voice our displeasure and also wrote an email to the management and neither was ever responded to. Outstanding Italian food. Authentic, flavorful and done right. It is, however, a little pricey.

I gave Capri a second chance today after the first time I went there was a bad experience. My second visit was worse than my first. The paper covering the dirty, stained table linen was covered with crumbs as were the chairs. The side of pasta was bland and luke warm at best. The chicken breast tasted like it was boiled or steamed chicken and it tasted like it only had garlic powder sprinkled on it. The bad food made me forget about the bad waiter. He did apologize for not handing us menus for several minutes because he said he was the only waiter in the restaurant. My friend received her meal after four of us were just about done eating. Came here to celebrate a friends birthday and were seated by the window. Score! We started with a bottle of wine. No apps as we already had some wine and cheese at the house. I ordered the homemade rigatoni in a vodka sauce. The lady at the table had the linguini vongole. Both were outstanding. But my friend got the veal and eggplant. Really. I am moving in after trying this. I have to come back to taste everything on the menu. The last time I had Italian food this good was in a burrow of NY. Or at my mothers house from age 1 to 39. Four people and two bottles of vino came to a buck forty. Seriously? I told the waitress that we had a birthday at the table and the old Italian guy came and sang Happy Bird day with a lit cannoli. Update: I posted my review prior to reading the other reviews, because I didn't want any preconceived notions. I will say that when I read that another person thought the water tasted funny, I noticed that as well but forgot to mention it with the other things I posted. I will also say that other reviewers seem much more kind than me (giving more stars than me when their entree apparently tasted like "cherry cough syrup") so maybe I'm overly critical. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just "Eh". I had lunch there today with a friend. It was not crowded, and I sat and waited for my friend to arrive. To begin with, the music was a little more than background... almost to the point of distracting. The waitress came over immediately and took my drink order. Across the board, the attentiveness of the waitress was great. No issues there. I snacked on bread while I waited. The bread seemed stale, like it was left over from last night. When I went to get oil and cheese for the bread, I was a little surprised that the oil was in an open bottle... it's a little weird to me that the oil just sits on the table, with no stopper or top. So basically I'm ingesting every cough and sneeze from the previous guest. That's kind of icky. Once my friend arrived, we were told the specials. I ordered the special ravioli stuffed with sausage and brocollini, and my friend ordered the special of tortellini with a tomato cream sauce. I got a free soup or salad with my entree, so I ordered the soup of the day, Lentil. When the soup came out, once again things were kind of weird. The soup was spilled all down the side of the cup, and it was about half full. The soup was nothing special, kind of bland. My friends salad (included with her entree) seemed OK. When the entrees came out, they looked good. My ravioli were not cooked. I understand what Al-Dente means.... this dough was raw. The filling was just OK, and the sausage in the ravioli seemed like pre-made pizza sausage, rather than fresh sausage as I expected. The sauce on my ravioli was best described as Ragu..... bland, not very good. I have had better sauce from a jar. My friend did not complain about her tortellini. To Summarize: The service was good, attentive, and pleasant. I have seen others think the food is pricey. The prices seemed normal to me for a lunch (about $10 per entree), but the food quality was NOT worth the price. Everything was just little off....the atmosphere, the food, etc. Hopefully, they will work out some of the small issues, or this place will not last. I know they have other restaurants... maybe they're just lazy because they think us "country folk" out in Planfield don't know good food? Who knows. I am a big fan of the Francesca's restaurants, and I would much rather travel to one of those than spend my time here even though it's local. read more

Usually have good experience here but this time there was a hair in my daughters Alfredo, it was brought to the attention of our waitress and food was replaced but there was LITTLE in the way of and apology and were still charged full price for the entire incident despite the fact we had 10 to 15 minutes till her food was replaced. Homemade rigatoni with vodka sauce is awesome! We always have great service, especially if we are lucky and get Mike. I like the fact that they bring out roasted red pepper dip with the bread and they always have unique specials. Me and my husband had dinner here yesterday night around 8:30. We were seated right away. The server was exceptional I believe his name was Brian and he was attentive the entire time and gave us good suggestions on the menu he was also really friendly. We ordered sausage and peppers for a appetizer and the jumbo shrimp on a bed of arugula with raspberry vinaigrette and goat cheese and it was phenomenal to say the least! All the flavors went really we'll together. For dinner I ordered one of the specials of the night, halibut vesuvio. The fish was great and cooked perfectly and really flavorful. My husband had the gnocchi bolognaise and he said it was really good and the sauce was really tasty too! The ambiance was really nice not to loud in the booth that we had, it was really intimate which was nice. But they also had the game on by the bar for people who wanted to eat and watch the game. The service at Capri is impeccable, the food is flawless and delicious. I now eat there at least once a month. We even went in with a couple of our kids this week, and they enjoyed it as well. My husband & I were celebrating our 51st wedding anniversary and decided to go to Capri Sogne. This was our 1st time at the restaurant and it will become one of our favorites. It is a quaint little place in downtown Plainfield. We didn't have reservations (recommended) but when Roberto the manager found out it was our anniversary he found us a table and even sent over dessert on the house. The food was excellent! I had the Chicken Parm & my husband had Veal Limone. We had Bruschetta as an appetizer. Everything from appetizers to dessert was top class. Plus, not to mention the ambiance and service. POOR SERVICE!!!! My family and have have dined here several times. Our night out, we arrived at 5:40 and restaurant was empty. My wife and I waited 15 minutes, while 3 servers walked by and no interaction. During this time 3 other tables we seated and attended to by a staff member, while we sat.
