Homemade Rigatoni Vodka Mia Rigatoni Vita Mia

Went here for the first time and had a party of 6. We had a wonderful meal & experience! Truly remarkable service from Vincent! We had the minestrone soup which was very good! Very light...a tad bland but nothing a little Parmesan cheese couldn't remedy. We also had the Caesar salad with delicious dressing, yummy homemade rigatoni vodka with sausage, & cheese ravioli with marinara. Marinara could've been a bit more flavorful & less acidic. It was a bit boring, too...the butter cake was too die for! Also, we really enjoyed the tiramisu & crème brûlée! Can't wait to return!

The handmade pasta was super thick and delicious. Caesar salad tasted more like a creamy Italian dressing. The breading on the calamari was so flavorful and crisp. The calamari meat parts were on the thin side so the crispy breading made up for it. There was a wait for a table on the main floor but we got full service at the bar upstairs. The prices were reasonable and service was great.

Tonight felt especially memorable and worthy of a proper review. We usually avoid Friday nights because Vai's is almost always packed... and after tonight, it became crystal clear why. Diane and I were craving a standout meal, a little comfort, and a relaxing evening together. What we received was far beyond dinner service. We were treated like valued regulars and genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. Pete, who I believe is the manager, recognized us immediately and encouraged us to put our name on the waiting list despite the crowd. I'm grateful he did. While we waited, we sat outside near the fire on a cool evening, which added another layer of warmth and ambiance to an already inviting atmosphere. Within minutes, Pete came outside personally to let us know two seats had opened at the bar. That level of attentiveness matters. As soon as we walked in, Eliot and Mallory greeted us with smiles and authentic positive energy. Not forced. Not transactional. Genuine. They made us feel appreciated simply for being there. Even on one of the busiest nights imaginable, they engaged with guests with the same warmth and attentiveness we've experienced during quieter weekday visits. In the background, Morgan was crafting cocktails with precision while still finding time for a familiar nod that quietly says, "Good to see you again." That kind of hospitality cannot be faked. We ordered our favorite dish, the Lobster & Shrimp Rigatoni and once again it was exceptional. Rich, consistent, perfectly prepared, and easily one of the best dishes in Naperville. Without us even asking, the kitchen thoughtfully split the entrée onto two plates. That small gesture perfectly captures what makes Vai's special... attention to detail seems woven into everything they do. From the fire outside to the flowers inside, from the cocktails to the consistency of the food, Vai's creates an atmosphere that feels welcoming, polished, and sincere all at once. Authenticity and respect seem embedded in the culture there. Tonight was a standout evening for us, and I'm genuinely glad we decided to stay despite the crowd. Pete, Eliot, Mallory, Morgan, and the entire staff - thank you for reminding us what great hospitality looks like. Outstanding indeed.

It was 5:45, I didn't have a reservation, a they didn't have a table available until 7:30 but there were spots at the bar which they said was full service. My friend and I cozied up to it and ate there. What a surprisingly good experience. The staff was super friendly and that bartenders had great suggestions. I hate when people at the restaurant say everything is good. Not these young ladies. They made some sound suggestions which we followed. French onion soup and the steak frites were both excellent and priced well IMO. They have a really good whiskey/bourbon selection with a few hard to find bottles. I settled on a Blantons neat. They had Pappy, but I'm not wasting money on that anymore. Food came out quickly and we ate and watched a baseball game. The locals at the bar told us about their membership program where I guess for a small mo they fee you get a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate once a month. Seemed like a pretty good deal. I don't live anywhere near there, but if I did I'd certainly join. In any case, if you live anywhere close, this is definitely a worthwhile restaurant to visit. Seems like there were quite a few singles there as well if you are looking to meet someone. I have no idea what the dating scene is like in Lemont, but this might be a good spot to try.

Saturday date night was a birthday celebration dinner at Barrel & Vine for my husband. I'm not…read moresurprised he picked this restaurant because they have an extensive bourbon list, not to mention good food. We had Amanda as our server this time. She was fantastic! So personable, friendly and was very attentive. We began with cocktails, a Blanton's old-fashioned for him and a purple haze for me. Our server Amanda made the magic happen with my bubbly vodka cocktail at our table. Barrel & Vine makes great specialty cocktails. Hubby and I shared everything he ordered. The first thing we had was the imported burrata in a marinara sauce with rustic crostini. Creamy goodness. Yum! I loved that there were four large slices of grilled bread, perfect ratio of cheese to bread. I don't like when there's not enough bread for the amount of cheese on the plate. We then had the Tijuana's Best salad, which was their caesar salad. It's a typical caesar yet the best I've had. Not overly dressed. Hubby ordered an EH Taylor single barrel bourbon for the main event, a 32oz tomahawk steak with truffle fries and roasted brussels sprouts. The Fred Flintstone sized steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked to rare and came with four sauces on the side. We were able to choose our sides from the accompaniments on the menu. The ribeye was very tasty, however, there was grizzle in the piece that I cut for myself that I couldn't chew. Side note: I think it would be a nice touch if the restaurant sliced the meat and laid it next to the bone as presented at other restaurants. Both the brussels sprouts and truffle fries were good, but the fries were lacking the truffle taste. Needless to say, we couldn't possibly eat the whole 32oz ribeye so we brought leftovers home to enjoy again. The finale of our meal was a complimentary birthday dessert that Amanda chose - her favorite, a salty toffee skillet cookie. Amazing! It was a warm and gooey perfect ending to our dining experience. Barrel & Vine has two restaurant locations, Lemont and Plainfield. I highly recommend trying either.

It is spacious so wait times haven't been too much in my experience. It is in a very active strip mall near the Naperville AMC 16. It's a comfortable setting suitable for dates or for a family dinner. There's outdoor dining available weather permitting. Got the dates wrapped in bacon which are sweet and savory treats. Also got the stuffed mushrooms which were tasty. The French onion soup is a little different from others I've had but its nice. They made pizzas that are between a small and medium so depending on appetite it might be something you share on a date or small group or if you're hungry shoot your shot on your own. The supreme is very flavorful but can be a bit salty. The pepperoni pizza is solid. In other trips I've had their lumpy crab cakes, fried ravioli, and bruschetta (classico, mushrooms, and fig & apple which is especially nice). Their salads were fresh and crisp I've had the Mediterranean and the wedges. Other mains I've particularly enjoyed are short rib ravioli, lasagna colognes, scallops risotto, and butternut squash ravioli. All pretty delicious. The servers are friendly and help with recommendations if you can't make up your mind. Desserts creme brulee or key lime pie. They also have a banana pudding that's quite nice. Some items are monthly so keep in mind if something you especially liked was on the regular menu or just in rotation. Also, I've been here with vegans and they were able to order meals that left them satisfied so I think there's a lot to offer for a variety of folks. Enjoy.
