Date night at capriccio! The atmosphere is second to none and we both love dinning in here! It's been a little since we have been here but it's still as we remember it. Right away we started with the Caesar and calamari. Both were good but nothing that rocked our world. A few tables over a couple ordered the shrimp Scampi which smelt delicious as it was being prepared table side so I decided to get that and my GF got the filet. Her filet was good, it had a red wine glaze sauce on it that was tasty. My dinner wasn't that good, the shrimp was excellent but the scampi sauce itself wasn't doing it for me unfortunately. Our cook who prepared it did a good job entertaining us and our actual server was attentive and did a good job taking care of us for our time at capriccios.

This restaurant has been around for decades and known as one of RI's top romantic restaurants. My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary and it was the most perfect spot to celebrate. The ambiance is intimate, upscale, and classy. They offer valet parking and coat check upon arrival. Service is great, the staff is very attentive and professional. The food was good. The shrimp scampi was made right at the table, offering an amazing presentation and was the WOW factor of the night. The filet had a char on the outside and was cooked perfect in the middle. The sauce on the filet was tasty. I got the Caesar for an app and it came with crushed croutons/bread crumbs on top. The calamari was okay.

We came here for a birthday party last weekend. The building was cute and Ina good location- they had valet service which made things super easy. We arrived 5 minutes early for a 7pm reservation for 18. We were escorted downstairs past the bar into a small back room with circular tables. The service here was fantastic. Our waitress was very genuine . I was disappointed about a preset multi course menu- I don't eat cheese, but the waitress was able to adapt a few things for me. Our drinks came-- and that is when things slowed down. A lot. We were told another birthday party of 40 in another room arrived 1.5 hours late for their reservation that was why our service was backed up. It took an hour to get our appetizers and went downhill from there. It was over 3.5 hours beginning to end- we had to leave before desert was served so took ours to go. I don't know how desert was, as we gave it to a friend--- the only desert we could get to go was tiramisu and we don't care for it. For two dinners, two drinks and tips we were in it for $225. I had to leave my card with my oldest daughter as they will not do seperate checks for a party. I got the veal parm no cheese-- and it was cold . Came with 5 gnocchis. I really didn't enjoy it and left more than half of it there. The house salad was good - and my appetizer was a dish with beets and cheese, just did not cheese and that was probably the best thing of the night. It was a pretty bad experience given this was my first time here-- we generally dine on the hill for Italian. Those in our party that frequent here for dinner stated it was no where near the quality they experienced previously. Other than the great attitude of the wait staff and the cute interior I don't have much else to say that is positive. Given this experience we won't go back.

i had a spectacular experience here. i had never been and it was a place i walked by a million times because my favorite mural is there. my student invited me to graduation dinner, we were a party of 8. our server was soooo sweet and hospitable. he went out of his way to make it a memorable celebration, and he noticed i don't eat pork so he paid special attention to what went on my plate. my student's family did drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. i had tea, grilled oysters, arancini, beef wellington, enjoyed the bread service, finished my friend's beef stroganoff, and tried the chocolate cake, and the cannoli. (listen i'm bulking rn). they literally finished grilling the carrots tableside for my beef wellington so that they are crisp on my plate. i loved the underground luxury feel. so classic. so would return.

I came here for the first time during restaurant week and from the ambiance and service to the quality of the food it was a great experience. The restaurant is cozy and soft lit with white table clothes. Both the waiter and the person pouring water were really attentive and pleasantly chatty. All the food we got from the three course restaurant week menu was delicious. My favorite was probably the arancini. It had good umami and creamy flavors. The surf and turf was also good. I liked the seasoning on the steak and the shrimp were well cooked. The spumoni wasn't the greatest, and my boyfriend who got the cream brûlée, also thought that wasn't the best thing he'd had, so maybe dessert isn't a strong focus. Neither were bad, just a notable difference in quality from the rest of the meal. I don't think there is a dedicated parking lot, but there's a variety of paid garages and lots nearby. We were able to find street parking as well.

Delicious food, impeccable service, and a charming ambience make Capriccios an exceptional dining experience. The large chairs and large menus make you feel like royalty. The music, lighting, and staff all give this place a welcoming vibe. The menu is filled with traditional Italian dishes. I've been coming here consistently for over a decade and the quality of the food has remained top notch. I usually come during restaurant week because you get a three course meal and who can say no to tasty appetizers and delectable desserts.

We have friends in the area who had heard of the place, but had never gone, so we made a reservation (2.5 months ahead for a 4 some on a Friday, so it must be special...) and finally got to see what the fuss was about. (Still wondering.) We started with what ended up being a high point, "beets and frites." A very interesting take with a lot of frites, not enough beets (5 slices under the stack), and about 2 tablespoons of the lemon aioli. The few tastes of the 3-part combination were great. The frites, crisp and soooo thin, were good on their own. The olive oil that came with the bread was very green (young), with a strong flavor but I was surprised that there was no pepper grinder. I had the (special) cod, which came with a lazy prep of broccoli rabe and OK potatoes. The fish was cooked well, moist and fresh, but I'm still not sure what the flavorless green topping was. Our table also had oxtail ravioli, which consisted of tasty little purses of thin pasta and nicely flavored meat inside. (Probably the best entree, and gained the second star.) The eggplant was unremarkable in terms of flavor of the sauce, and the veggies that went into it did not seem to be very fresh. For dessert, we had rhubarb peach tart and chocolate bread pudding. The tart was mostly crust and very shy on the rhubarb. The bread pudding apparently used Hershey's chocolate powder which was not a great flavor and left a grainy texture. The server was not very friendly, somewhat pushy, and insisted that we order the dessert when we ordered everything else. Allegedly, this was because the dessert is made to order, but we had the impression that it was to expedite our table time. Even so, with all that "careful planning" only 3 of the 4 entrees made an entry and we waited quite a while for the 4th to show up, even after asking. Overall, not a good experience and not a place I'll plan to revisit.

Our favorite drink for a night out is a dirty martini extra dirty. The martinis here are NEVER cold enough. They are legit luke warm. So we have learned to ask for them extra shaken here. Not only were our martinis still not cold, but they were clear aka not dirty. We sent them back based on the color and our server brought the same martinis back with a side of olive juice. After trying them with the extra juice they had a dirty water taste to them, almost like the ice used to shake them was dirty, which is ironic considering they were barely cold. I hate to do this but we sent them back again and let the server know they simply didn't taste good and also were not cold enough. He ended up going back and making them himself and they were much better but STILL. It shouldn't be this difficult for a bartender to make a very standard drink. The food unfortunately was also very mid. The table behind us actually sent their food back twice as well and the manager had to come over. It's also worth noting I put in the reservation it was my husband's birthday and there was no acknowledgement of it at all. This restaurant is meant to be a splurge for a nice dinner out and honestly was not up to par at all. $300 dinner for two and I was extremely disappointed. Honestly don't think we will be back.

Our waitress responded, "No, we don't, but the closest thing we have to it is linguini...but we also have angel hair, penne, and spaghetti." I was a bit confused; capellini is much closer to angel hair than linguini! Same with spaghetti! Brushed it off and my BF ordered a chicken piccata. Couldn't help but notice that the 4 people behind us (who were there before us) didn't order their drinks or food until about 10-15 mins after us, but they got their food 35 mins BEFORE us (we actually started keeping track, we were there for 45-50 mins at this point). We got our food and my boyfriend was very confused because they delivered a chicken Marsala instead of his chicken Piccata; I didn't even notice. He only orders chicken piccata from one other place, so it took him a minute to realize what he had been served... he tried it, thinking that we could just wrap up our experience since we were already running late, took 2 bites and said it wasn't something he liked so he put it at the end of the table. Unfortunately, I had already finished my meal by the time the waitress came over to check on us. No apology for messing up his order, but a, "oh, would you enjoy this?" My boyfriend was stunned. The piccata came out 15-20 mins after this interaction. I enjoyed my chicken Francese and he enjoyed his picatta. Luckily, our shrimp cocktail and peroni were comp'd but I'm not sure why they couldn't just take the meal off at that point -- it was like $4 extra for something that we didn't order in the first place. Costantino's Venda Bar & Ristorante falls squarely into that second category for me. Years ago, when I was living in Providence, Friday nights often meant a trip to Federal Hill and a pizza from Venda to take home. It became such a regular thing that the drive over felt automatic. Even now, whenever I'm on the Hill and trying to decide where to eat, this is usually one of the first places that comes to mind. I've eaten here enough times that I honestly think I've worked my way through just about everything on the menu. That's not an exaggeration. The impressive part is that I can't think of a meal that left me disappointed. Whether it's pasta, seafood, pizza, or one of their specials, the food is consistently good. In a restaurant business where consistency can be surprisingly hard to find, that's worth recognizing. The wine list deserves a mention of its own. If you're a wine enthusiast, you could spend a lot of time exploring the selections here. I know I certainly have, and I'm afraid to calculate how much money I've spent doing exactly that over the years. No regrets, though. The staff behind the bar know what they're talking about and are always happy to make recommendations. The same goes for the cocktail and spirits selection. Friendly, knowledgeable, and never pretentious. Don't skip dessert, either. Every time I tell myself I'm too full, I somehow end up looking at the dessert menu anyway. One thing I appreciate is the parking situation. Anyone familiar with Federal Hill knows parking can sometimes feel like a competitive sport. The valet service is especially helpful on busy Friday and Saturday evenings. If valet isn't your thing, there are independent lots nearby, and occasionally you'll get lucky and find a spot on the street. During the warmer months, sitting outside in DePasquale Square is one of the best dining experiences in Providence. Good food, a glass of wine, live music drifting through the square, and people enjoying the evening. It's hard not to have a good time. One practical note: I'm a cash guy, so it doesn't affect me personally, but friends have mentioned there's a processing fee when paying by card. Just something to be aware of before the check arrives. It's also a great place to stop for an afternoon drink before heading elsewhere in the city. Whether you're settling in for a full dinner or just grabbing a glass of wine and people-watching for a while, Costantino's Venda Bar & Ristorante continues to be one of the most reliable spots on Federal Hill. Some restaurants have great nights. This place has been delivering great years.

I thought the flavor of the food was good, but everything could've been warmer. It's was all cold or lukewarm at best. The best thing was the veal Parmesan. It had great flavor but the pasta underneath was lukewarm. We even asked for them to toast the bread and they just brought us another cold bread. The service was also not great. When checking in for our reservation at the bar, the hostess checked us in then disappeared for a while. Then the manager came by and rudely asked us to close the door, when there was absolutely nowhere to stand inside because it was packed and we were waiting on the hostess to figure out where our table was. Our server was nice but also not the most attentive. She was either in the other room with another server hugging on her and watching something on her phone or computer, or just simply couldn't be found. We even had to fill our own waters because we hadn't seen her in a while. The cherry on top is that there was a mouse running around inside the restaurant. We informed the server who immediately said she would comp our bill, which is much appreciated. Then the manager came to speak to us with attitude... "so you guys wanted to talk to me?" and "we had the doors to the outside open earlier so this kind of thing happens". No it doesn't. Everyone, including the manager, seemed to think it wasn't a big deal. It's a health code violation. We were grateful that they comped our bill, and some of us even went out of our way to tip the server via CashApp because we felt bad we couldn't do so on the bill. However, the lack of concern and understanding was appalling. At that point, the restaurant should stop everything they're doing to address the issue, but no. Servers continued to walk by the mouse and look at it and walk to the other room. It seemed like the manager was pissed that they had to comp the bill for us. Mind you, we never even asked for the bill to be comped, it was offered. The manager even said that the mouse "had been handled" and when he walked away it was still running around. None of the employees seemed to care. It made us seem like our reaction (which was calm and respectful) was invalid. That's not how you wanted to be treated as a customer. We all lost our appetite after that. I would avoid this place if you want good service and a rodent-free environment. I'm having a hard time understanding what the hype is about this place. If the manager was apologetic and understanding, then this may have been a different review. Only giving two stars for the flavor of the food.
