One gentleman Graham welcomed us and did give special love, but he was just our greeter. He even came by walking by after our meal and checked in, he was the best! Our waitress was nice but not the most helpful on wine selections. I wish there was a wine sommelier who could have helped me further on decisions, I ended up with a wine I didn't enjoy unfortunately. I have a gluten allergy and I am so pleased by all the great food choices and allergy flag. For Friday at 6, I wanted the lamb risotto but it was sold out, I ended with the seafood risotto. That was very delicious; had one broken scallop, 3 shrimp and a decent amount of mussels. I think they could have added another scallop and shrimp but so be it. I needed some lemon and red pepper flakes to flavor it up but our waitress took FOREVER to even check on our first bites. I was waving at bussers and no one came by, after about 10-15 min my partner stopped her. My partners and mother's food were very delicious and they were happy with their meals! If gluten free, I would have gobbled that up! The food was good for Sioux Falls but not the most outstanding service. That lacked.

Both dishes showed some real creativity in the kitchen. But what really sets R Wine Bar & Kitchen apart is the environment. This place has a vibe. I ended up meeting some cool people traveling through from Tennessee and had some of the best conversations I've had at a bar. Really friendly people all around. That kind of atmosphere can't be manufactured. The Verdict: R Wine Bar & Kitchen is the real deal. We were absolutely famished that afternoon and wanted something different from our usual stops when we noticed this little pizza place sitting quietly inside a fairly non-descript strip mall. At first glance, you might not expect much. Then you walk inside. The atmosphere immediately drew us in. Warm, casual, inviting, and filled with the kind of local neighborhood energy that makes you feel comfortable almost instantly. It had personality. Not manufactured "corporate chain pretending to be cozy" personality either. Real personality. Thankfully, the food completely lived up to the vibe. We ordered a large specialty pizza loaded with all the trimmings along with a smaller pepperoni pizza because my husband and I have fully embraced the philosophy that ordering "too much pizza" is not actually a real problem. It is simply future happiness. And because we apparently cannot order pizza without wings, we added a small wing order as well. The pizzas were absolutely fantastic. The crust had wonderful texture and flavor, the toppings were generous, the cheese was gloriously hot and melty, and everything arrived piping hot exactly the way pizza should. Even the smaller pepperoni pizza impressed us. Sometimes simple pizzas reveal the quality of a place better than overloaded specialty combinations do, and Tomacelli's absolutely delivered on both. Now the only small critique we had involved the wings. My husband and I personally tend to prefer traditional deep-fried buffalo wings over baked-style wings. That is simply our preference. However, even with that bias, the wings here were still flavorful and enjoyable enough that we really did not mind very much once we started eating them. And honestly, the biggest compliment we can give this place is simple: We kept coming back. Even though we live on the east side of Sioux Falls now, we still happily make the drive across town because local gems like this are worth supporting. More importantly, the consistency has remained excellent every time we have visited. That matters. Any restaurant can accidentally have one great night. Our friends are incredible people - hilarious, fun, thoughtful - and they have some physical challenges that can draw looks from others when we are in public.
