My private sewer line was crushed and they were able to identify the location, setup the inspection with the city, and get me lined up for the city to repair the line. I called Captain Rooter to get a recently installed faucet fixed. They surprisingly were able to get out someone in just a few hours. However, when the guy showed up, he asked me for a wrench because he had forgotten his tools in his vehicle. Once I gave him the necessary tools, he was able to diagnose the problem. However, he never fully turned off the water supply so I had water all over that I thankfully noticed only a few hours later. It could have been much worse. I would not recommend them for any future repairs. read more

When the plumber arrived, he took a look and said he had to break into the ceiling of the coat closet as that is where he believed the pipe had burst. He did this, found the section of burst pipe and quickly fixed it. At this point he asked if I had noticed any issue with water pressure and I let him know I hadn't. He thought this was weird, but continued working. They were about to leave after turning the water back on, but I heard water still running in the garage right next to the coat closet. We opened the door and there was still water coming down from the garage ceiling. They continued to fix additional sections of pipe that burst, which ultimately stopped with the section of pipe that led into our family room. A few hours were spent fixing the pipe, during which I asked if there was anything thing that could be done to prevent this and was told that maybe letting the water drip would help. This made sense to me at the time. A few days later, I heard water leaking again and proceeded downstairs to find that the coupling that had been installed by the plumber in the coat closet had popped off. I called Captain Rooter and they came to take a look. Upon fixing the coupling they had installed, the plumber noticed that a new section of pipe was leaking in the garage. I had to be somewhere, so I asked that they send someone else out to fix this section the next day. A new plumber came out this time, and again I asked if there was anything that could be done to prevent this from happening and he suggested insulation for the pipe as well as warming wires. I proceeded to buy and install pipe insulation and warming wires. After the water mitigation had been taken care of, my contractor came out to estimate the drywall work. Within 5 minutes of him arriving he noticed that the pipe which had continued to burst was the pipe that led to a spigot outside, and had a separate valve from the main line that he shut off to prevent this from happening again. I then sent the above to the company as I always want to provide a company with an opportunity to do the right thing. They responded and scheduled to have someone come out to review what had happened. I stayed home from work to meet them, and received a call the morning of that the person would not be able to make it, and someone would be in touch to reschedule. Things come up, I understand. I then reached back out the following week, as I hadn't heard from anyone, and was told that a voicemail had been left for me to reschedule, though I didn't have a missed voicemail. At this point another work day was suggested for reschedule and I couldn't take that day off of work. I was told that someone would reach back out again to reschedule, and again I heard from no one. I emailed again and this time received no response at all. My frustration comes from the fact that neither plumber that came out realized that this was not the main line to the house, so it didn't need to be fixed immediately. Also, any additional issues could have been prevented by simply shutting off the valve for that pipe which only led to the external spigot. My contractor, who is a general and not a plumber by trade, was able to immediately identify and resolve the issue. I feel swindled and taken advantage of. Be wary of using this company. read more

They offer "get a quote" on the home page, but they won't quote a basic job of replacing shutoff valves without wasting a day to send someone onsite. I provided pictures and all details (1/2 copper pipe, 3/8 outlet, angle valve, etc.)... This is a simple job for a home built in 2004 to upgrade to 1/4 turn ball valves. The valves use standard compression on copper pipe. I've changed dozens of these over the years and require two wrenches and only take about 2 minutes. Sadly, they won't quote a job without sending someone onsite and requiring me to waste a vacation day. All other contractors were able to quote the job without wasting a vacation day and were reasonably priced ($200 for parts and labor). read more

This company initially came out last November to fix two toilets that weren't flushing correctly. At that time, they supposedly replaced the valves on both toilets. After they left, one toilet began leaking and I had someone in my building fix that problem. Since that time, the same initial problems have recurred. They came out this past Sunday to fix the problems, charged me $95 dollars, and told me I need new pumps for both toilets. They suggested I buy the pumps and they would replace them. (1) When I asked them how much they would charge to install new pumps, I was told that someone from the company would call me with the information. No one has called with this information. (2) I called and asked the company for a copy of my original invoice. They said they would email it to me. I haven't gotten it. (3) I wanted some assurance that if I did get new pumps and had them installed the problems would be solved. The person I spoke with at the company said he would get in touch with the technician, find out, and get back to me. Of course I haven't heard from them on this issue either. That's three for three. The last technician who came out told me he doesn't really work on toilets and couldn't answer my questions (and obviously couldn't solve my problems either). Why was he sent out to solve toilet problems when he doesn't work on toilets? At this point I'm out over $600, have the same problems I initially called them about, and have no resolution. read more

I didn't have a very good experience trying to hire this company for a simple plumbing job. They were 2-3 hours late, didn't communicate well and gave a very high estimate. But it sounds like they do very good work and were upfront about the cost before doing any work. I only wish I would not have waited 4 hours to get a quote that was much higher than I expected. If you call, I'd suggest asking for a ballpark quote before having someone come out. The good news is that this company seem to have a lot of integrity. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, they reached out personally to see what they could do to make it right. Looks like they've now added info to the Yelp page that mentions the minimum & the fact that they don't charge by the hour, but by the job. Would rate a Negative 5 Stars if it was an option, HORRIBLE COMPANY PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! Jesus was the initial person (supposedly licensed plumber) that first accepted the job to install a tankless water heater. He stated he does these often and showed a picture of one he supposedly installed a couple weeks ago. On Saturday the 9th Jesus and Jonathan started their attempt to install. We supplied the water heater system. The first unit they told us it was defective on so my husband and step son went to Home Depot and purchased another $1700 tankless heater. After 3 days of attempting to install and filling my house with gas my dog started vomiting so I went downstairs to see what is going on, Jesus tried to assure me nothing was wrong and he was just purging the gas line. I told him my house is full of gas an my dog is throwing up because of it. Then he opens the back door to vent out the basement, About 20 minutes later, their 3rd day at this it's about 9pm they call my husband to come downstairs. I followed my husband downstairs to the basement and Jesus is trying to tell us it's not working due to low gas pressure and starts opening the gas line in front of us and trying to have a conversation while gas is pouring from the pipe. I had to tell him to please reconnect the gas pipe now. They wanted to come back on Tuesday to try to run more gas lines. On Monday Jesus had to keep leaving for other jobs which we only found out about because my step son was downstairs and speaks Spanish and overheard Jonathan telling Jesus over the phone that Jesus needs to come back because he didn't know what he was doing. Right after they left we were outside and smelled gas. We noticed the gas meter was spraying gas. I had Nicor gas come out and they gas man stated the plumber blew the gas regulator on the meter from opening and closing it to rapid. I had to have another company come to install correctly. I was informed the vent was just jammed in the wall. They also put a cover over the ventilation system on the outside of my house that would not allow the system to vent properly had they not just jammed the PVC pipe in the wall. They butchered my wall cutting out 8" + inches when they only needed to vent a 3" pipe. Also I just had my house painted and they used tar to install the cover to the house. Had it worked we would have been killed due to carbon monoxide poisoning. They ran the gas line off the catch of another gas line that was only 1/2". They used a gas pipe for a water line. Water was leaking from all the water lines on the tank. I was also informed that they are not licensed plumbers, they are general contractors that should have never attempted to install a tankless water heater. They could have killed my whole family! read more

I had this company install a portable shower in August. By October, I realized that any water draining from the tub was flowing directly to my basement. Jesse sent another plumber out to survey the problem. He explained that the overflow pipe was not connected to the drain and that was the problem. When I asked what they were going to do about it, he told me that the company (Jesse) said that one thing had nothing to do with the other. And if they made any repairs it would cost me an additional $1595.00. I could not understand this since everything was flowing fine and with no water overflow to my basement, before the shower installation. I feel that this company targets and takes advantage of minorities and senior citizens. Jesse I saw your rebuttal to my complaint and you couldn't be more wrong!! This problem did not exist before your plumber did the installation, so this problem has "Everything" to do with the installation. If my pipes are as old as you say than your plumber should have "never" started, let alone completed this shower installation. Jesse A. of Captain Rooter, if you think that you can issue a refund check and the problem goes away, you are sadly mistaken. The problem still exist and your plumber created it. There was nothing leaking before the shower installation, everything was working just the way that it should. And just to be clear, I'm not talking about a small leak, this water is flowing to my basement whenever I use my tub. So this is not a small thing. As for recognizing it later, your plumber knew exactly what he was doing. He left the detached overflow pipe inside of where the tub is enclosed knowing it couldn't be seen. Your plumber Mill showed it to me!!! It is by the grace of God that I decided to do laundry the same day that I used my tub, otherwise I never would have known. So your plumber is responsible for this problem. And if my pipes are as old as you say, he should never have done the job. read more

Had a kitchen sink clog that I just could NOT clear! I'm semi handy and tried all the normal "do it yourself" methods. I used my own 25' auger (nothing) 100% Lye (nothing) drain bladder ran for 15 minutes of pressure....still nothing. Finally called the professional and they came out 1st thing in the morning and were out in an hour.....kitchen sink de-clogged. Update 23Jan2019- Changing from 2 to 3 stars After posting my initial review the company reached out to me and made every effort to make things right, including offering a complete refund. I think potential customers should know that this is a company that is committed to customer service. When I spoke with the company they did explain that their work is warrantied for 30 days (subject to some terms) and when the drain had backed up the second time I could have called them for what would have most likely been a free service call. I did not realize this was an option at the time and probably should have contacted them to resolve the issue before I climbed up on the roof myself. I think the efforts put into customer satisfaction warrant another star, however I will note that it appears the commitment to customer satisfaction is more evident for those who share their experience publicly. I think the squeaky wheel gets the grease. read more
