My friend and I split the crab cake and the crab dip. Both were very flavorful and delicious! The sandwiches come with free chips which is totally awesome, who doesn't like a little extra something free of charge. (Although I would like to mention that the chips were a little over seasoned and therefore just a bit too salty, may have been just been a fluke though). As for the crab dip it easily could be a meal, served in a bread bowl with ritz crackers, celery, and carrots! But it's also the perfect snack if you share it with someone! I was in Denver for work for two weeks back in May and had to try this food truck, being from Maryland and all. I had the Crabby Royale and it was SO good. Certainly in the top 3 of all the crab cakes I have ever had (the others being in Annapolis, MD - crab central!) While not the "traditional" broiled or fried type of crab cake, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the cold crab cake. It was refreshing, with little bits of veggie in it... I know I tasted red bell peppers, and maybe onions? I would absolutely recommend this food truck and the Crabby Royale. I see in other reviews that some people are complaining about the $12 price tag, but I've never seen a decent crab cake for less than $14, closer to $18-$20 depending on how fancy the restaurant is. This truck came to my job I tried 3 tacos for $12. I got shrimp, tuna, & Mexican street corn! The only one I could actually chew was the shrimp. It was edible. The rest I couldnt even swallow. Had their Jamby (jambalaya) today. You could tell it was precooked and reheated. Rice was mushy and the whole meal wasn't heated throughout. Only so so. My wife had the gumbo and the rice on this dish wasn't even cooked all the way, still crunchy. The gumbo itself had a good flavor. I went to one of their pop ups at a brewery in Virginia Beach, where I followed their social media postings. So when I got their , they said would not be ready for an hour. This was already disappointing, as if I knew that , I would have went there an hour later, but their posting on Facebook told a different story , had them there when I showed up. We decided to share the sourdough pretzels with beer cheese dipping sauce...from this food truck... So so bad! The pretzels were hard, from a bag and the beer cheese sauce was cold. Hardly any crab on my CRABBY fries. Was at a festival so tried these guys because its crab season and they have been on my radar for a while. Go to order and the cheapest crab cake they have is $16 with a bag of crab chips or $2 up charge for fries. So by the end of it, $18 for a sandwich and fries. Pretty steep when I can get the same thing at a sit down restaurant for $12-13. So I settle on the crabby fries- fries, beer cheese topped with crab meat. When I get my order the presentation is lacking. There wasn't much cheese and it looked like it was stirred into the fries not oozed on. Then there sprinkles of crab meat! YES SPRINKLES. Im not asking for a whole crab cake on my fries but give me a little more than a dusting of crab meat. All in all I basically paid $12 for hand cut fries with a cheese glaze and crab meat sprinkles. I found this kick-ass truck at HumpDay Café @ Civic Center park. The crabby slider was soooooo god. Super fresh and sweet jumbo lump crab meat is folded into an easy mayo dressing and fresh bell pepper and veggies, topped with some old bay. It came with chips and I was satisfied. I've been eating at Capt'n Crabby for the past 6 years. And to be honest I don't even like seafood. But these guys offer so much more than that. Beer Cheese Fries- yum, huge! Jamaican Jerk Sandwich with potato salad, so good. And I am a pickle SNOB (I make my own!) their dills are so authentic and fresh. Everything on the menu looked very appetizing. I only tried one item and that was their crab cake sandwich. It was very good! It was on a soft potato roll served with tomato and lettuce and topped with old bay aioli. I am a sucker for any kind of sauce, and aioli is no different. I went to Capt'n Crabbys new brick and mortar location. I was excited because they have she crab soup. The place is nice, food smelled delicious. I ordered soup to go. I got back to my office (5mins from restaurant) and imagine my disappointment to open the cup and find that there was so much oil in it!! At first I was pretty skeptical about a crabcake from a food truck, but it was really good! I ordered the Texan (jalapeños cream cheese, haystack onions, and Virginia bacon). The crabcake itself was very good and not overwhelmed by filler. Overall I thought there was a bit too much cream cheese and too little jalapeños flavor. We tried out Capt Crabby at green flash brewery today and was sorely disappointed, angry actually. We ordered 2 crab cake sandwiches and 2 hotdogs (for the kids). The attendant said "your order will be ready in 5-7 minutes." 40 minutes later, and many complaints from the guests ahead of us, they called our name. For $15 per sandwich, I was expecting to be handed a mind blowing looking crab cake. Instead I was handed a crab cake topped with a basil leaf and a 1" sun dried tomato, served on a Great Value bun. I bring my sad sandwich back to our table and took a bite. If you are in to fishy tasting crab, then this is the sandwich for you. I gave it 2 bites and couldn't do anymore without getting sick. As for the "hotdogs," they were big, but tasted like spicy canned cocktail weenies. Those went in the garbage too as the kids wouldn't eat spicy hotdogs. You'd think when the menu says "hotdog," you are getting a hotdog. I would have been more satisfied with actually physically eating the $46 I spent at Capt Crabby. Haven't had a crab cake this good in YEARS!!! The staff were great and full of Maryland knowledge, very authentic. Everyone ambushed the beer cheese and pretzels, a nice snack while we were checking out the beers. The Italiano and Authentic were our favorite crab cake sandwiches, cooked to perfection and the prosciutto (Italiano) was an excellent touch. This little van/truck is pretty amazing. I am always seriously craving fresh seafood, and the Capt'n does not disappoint. I think that's pretty clear since I've gone there almost once a week for a couple of months now! The Crabby Royale is 12 bucks and is huge- full of fresh crab that's not drenched in mayo or covered up. It's great. Recently tried this place for the first time after much anticipation and searching for it, and needless to say I was not disappointed. For a food truck this was one of the more expensive ones around but given the product they are selling it is understandable why. The food was good and very traditional to the Baltimore, MD area and I tried the crab cake sliders. They were very good and mostly crab meat with very little filler, and these were served with fresh made potato chips seasoned with Old Bay. All in all they were very good and filling for the portion size. My only criticism was the service was a little slow and seemed disorganized but given we had them at a festival with a large crowd they were moving as fast as they could and the product quality did not suffer. I would try these guys again but would not search them out. Once all is said and done very glad I tried them, and they put out a very good crab product. read more
