I can't believe this place is still in business. I paid thousands to get a transmission replacement a few years ago. He put in a used one instead. It failed within days. He replaced it with another 'used' transmission and painted it to look refreshed. It 'works' but i can't drive it anywhere in the hills because it will start to smell like burning transmission fluid. Another transmission shop showed me the overspray of paint on the oil filter. I.e. he painted the bottom of the used transmission to make it look refurbished. Unbelievable. As other reviews say, he gets mad at you and tells you to leave when you find these issues and look for help from him. I don't know how he sleeps at night and/or continues to operate. And yes he was super nice and helpful fixing a headlight on one car. That led me to bring my Suburban to him for the major repair....what a mistake. Don't do it! This shop along with all its mechanics are nothing crooks. You bring your car fur service and end up with them breaking other parts and not accepting responsibility for it. They did not even said anything when I picked the car, thinking once I drive off, it's all good. I came back next day saying there's a problem with the car and it's making loud noise, they played it off as if nothing is wrong. I brought it back again, then he admitted to something breaking while servicing the car but it is not their fault. I would not ever deal with these crook again and advise anyone not to either. read more

The guy is a thief. I just took my 2015 BMW X5 for the first time to this guy as I smelled burnt oil in the car and I asked him to check my oil level sensors and overall status. he also suggested a 60,000 and 90,000 miles services plus the valve cover gasket. he sent me an email with an estimate of approximately $1,350. a half hour later he texted me pictures of my rear break and said it's time to replace those too so the total went up to $1,600. I told him to go ahead and he said that is the cash price. so 2-3 days later he called and said your car is ready. so wen there with $1,600 cash handed it to him and drove away. I immediately noticed the smell of burnt oil in the car again. so I called him and he said drive it a 100 miles and bring it back next Monday. when I called on Sunday to schedule the time. He said, my cousin's son overdosed and he is a coma. I have o go see him, then he supposedly passed away and then his funeral and memorial in Turlock. worried that the engine may fry with the apparent leak, took it to Los Gatos Autocare in Los Gatos Saratoga Road so he opened up the engine to verify that there had been absolutely no work done on the car. I paid him $1,500 to do the things Car Land was supposed to do. the only reason he got away was that he had disabled all the sensors. the guy is a thief and i will make sure he gets shut down and his license removed. needless to say his star rating is -$1,600 but this review will not go through until i select a rating so i pick one star. read more

He made this promise in front of a representative of the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. He also promised to take the car off her hands, as it isn't sellable (the car couldn't be registered because of so many issues. He illegally sold an unregisterable car and knew it). As of this date, her hasn't reached out, her hasn't reimbursed the money as he's promised multiple times. My Groupon entitled me to 3 oil changes, a tire rotation, and a 50 point inspection. When I came in to pick up my car, the owner redeemed my voucher and told me my keys were in my car. I asked if he had rotated my tires and performed a 50 point inspection and he responded with "we close at 5:00pm, we have lives." I recognize that is an extreme response to such a simple question, but if you look at the texts from him in this photo, he is an extreme individual. I explained to him that I wanted to get what I paid for, so he proceeded to go into the back and fill out a 30 point inspection paper and handed it over to me and asked me to leave. When I asked why it was a 30 point inspection when the Groupon says 50-point inspection, he said it's a "45 - point inspection." He then told me not to give him attitude when I simply inquired about the service that was given. I asked him if he had placed air in my tires because one of mine was low and he said he did not and that it was not covered in his 50-point inspection. He then began to get irate and call me a loser and a thief. I did not get what I paid for and I asked for a refund and he said he had already redeemed the voucher so I could not get a refund. He has since sent me harassing text messages (posted) and threatened to post pictures of me online as a loser and has called my car a "piece of junk." I recently made a visit to Car Land to get my oil changed. It was very difficult to get a an apointment with my Groupon. The earliest appointment was 3 weeks out. I finally to into the shop and it took within an hour for the oil change and tire rotation. As I pulled up into the lot the space was very tight. I later found out they parked a SUV right in front of the shop blocking most of the driveway. It appeared to be their car as later the staff from the front desk got in and drove off. It would be nicer for the customers if they didn't block the space to drive up to their shop. The mechanic said I had a few problems on my car and another guy, possibly the owner gave me a verbal price quote to make some repairs. I will get a second opinion before I get any work done on my car. Overall scheduling with this shop is very difficult unless you are able to wait a few weeks to get an appointment. The staff is not very customer friendly. They did their job and changed my oil, but there might be some up selling here. read more

I paid Joe $1,500 to replace a water pump on my 540i BMW. My car was at his shop for over a week when I called and asked when it would be ready. He said to come in the next day. When I came in the next day the car was still up on the lift. I asked what was going on as it was supposed to be ready, he then yelled at me, slammed the hood, lowered the car and said "take it and get out of here." The next day the water pump broke. I took it to a more expensive and reputable BMW mechanic to get it fixed this time. They claimed the reason it broke was because it was not installed properly, as it only had one bolt holding it together and it needed three bolts to hold it in place. The reputable mechanic wrote this on the vehicle repair report which I used in Santa Clara Country small claims court to sue Joe and Carland! On (2-10-17) I was awarded $3,180.91 by the Superior Court of San Jose for damages due to Carland's negligence. See photos! To this day Joe has refused to pay me even after the court has ordered him to do so. Currently I'm waiting for a "Writ" to be served from the Santa Clara Sheriff so I they can collect what is owed. read more

Shady business. I took my Lexus in for diagnostic. Day after I dropped the car off, Yobert broke the wires to camshaft sensors and tried to sell me a major service and said he would replace the sensors as well. Car would run great for 2 years after his service. Unfortunately, he was supposely be a friend of a friend. I didn't question which sensors he was replacing. Then he proceeded to hide the broken wires to the cam sensors by super glued them together. And told me it was safe to drive and let me drive home. He told me he would finish replacing the sensors later without telling me he broke them and superglued them together. Not knowing any of these, I paid him. The superglue was only good for one start of the car. Ever since, the car won't start. Yobert finds excuses left and right for months to not come to fix the issue and finish the job render me having no transportation. He did nothing to tell the truth but pointed finger at the battery, starter, ECU, then the car itself and the owner. Not a word of truth. The fact is he didn't just break the sensors connection, which caused the ECU shutdown, and the car won't start, I witnessed his roughness with the car slamming the hood without putting back the enginecover and later I found the cover broke off. The pictures and computer logs speak a thousand words. All the information is from reputable sources documented to prove what he did. He took the money, broke the car, hid about what he did, and sent the customer driving with a life-threatening hack job. Till today, he refused to send the receipt to describe what he did. Continues to use words completely devoid of responsibility . Yet he took the money. He has shown no sign of legitimacy nor responsibility. No one would want to experience what I have experienced. I had to tow my car to the dealer to have it diagnosed, and they provided me all the evidence for me. My car was driving well, and starting well, the ECU was functioning well before I took it to Yobert. That's verifiable from multiple sources. Bearau of Auto Repair also ruled in my favor and told me he has failed to provide any receipts for the past 3 years. Further, he defame his client to deviate from his fraudulent practice. read more

DO NOT GO TO CAR LAND / TIRE LAND ON WINCHESTER I started my car one morning and my truck started puffing smoke REAL bad; head gasket blown. My friend randomly happened to be getting new tires here when I called him. The owner, Joe, said bring it by and he would give a free estimate. When I arrived, the guy seemed friendly and eager to work on my car. He said he would give me a great deal and take care of me. He seemed honest, so I took the bait. He quoted me "$700-800" to replace the head gasket. Seemed like a great deal. I paid him 50% cash up front and he said to give him a 3-4 days. After day 4 he told me the new gasket was in, but he was having trouble adjusting the timing, it was loping at idle. He said there could still be water in the cat and to take it home and drive it a bit to burn the water out. I was SUPER relaxed and understanding about it. I take it home and drive it for a day; plenty long enough to burn out any water in the cat. The car still runs like crap and the motor temp is running on the hot end. I decide to check the oil to see what it looks like. I check the dip stick and the oil is runny, like there is water in it. Hmm.... I drain the oil and what do I find? THE SAME FUC#$%@ OIL THAT WAS IN THE CAR BEFORE I GAVE IT TO THE GUY!!! The oil was super dirty and had the consistency of water... wow. He didn't even change the oil... yet on the receipt I was billed for 4 quarts of oil???? WTF, seriously. I return the car to him after changing the oil MYSELF and tell him it still runs horribly. He says to give him a few more days. I return the next day only to find people from the other shops next door working on my truck. Still he can't fix it. He gives the car back to me and says I need a new cam-shaft and that's why he can't get it to run. I CALL BULL SH%#... I take the truck to another shop to look at it and figure out what the hell this guy did to my car. MY OH MY WHAT DID THEY FIND??? A snapped head bolt... He over torqued it.... and didn't even replace them from the beginning!!! Any mechanic will tell you that when you blow a head gasket and heat an engine up it stretches the head bolts... GEEEZ. I take the truck back and show him what I found..." Ohhhh... this is not good. Means we have to re-do the entire head gasket. How did you find this? Good thing you checked." Yea, good thing I did check your crappy work a$$ hole. He re-does everything and gets it to run "slightly" better than before. As I'm leaving he says he is giving me some of the gaskets he didn't use from the kit he bought. He put them on a piece of oil soaked cardboard in my truck bed.... No joke, the front 1/4 of the bed was soaked in oil. I jump in the cab to take off and when I grab the steering wheel i get grease all over my hands... WTF. I go to shift into reverse gear and my hand practically slips off the stick... there is oil residue everywhere. WAS THERE A GREASE MONKEY WORKING IN MY TRUCK?? COME ON, SERIOUSLY PUT SOMETHING DOWN OR WIPE YOUR HANDS OFF FOR F$#@'S SAKE. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST AUTO EXPERIENCE I'VE HAD IN MY LIFE. Car Land sabotaged my car after an oil change. Came in with a groupon deal. Distinctly said I wanted the checks, rotation, and oil change that the groupon had to offer over the phone when making the appointment. Waited about a month and a half for the appointment(busy shop I suppose). When I came in, they said it's only the groupon oil change they had me down for. No checks and tire rotation. And that there's only enough time for an oil change(half hour). What's the point of the GROUPON stating that they include these other services?! Not even two weeks after my oil change, my spark plug came out. Not blew out, just popped out, while I was driving. Dangerous! Like how the hell does that happen ? Someone messed with it. I had lots of work done by these guys! Its been a little over a year since I had my work done from these guys. First I was sucked in by the Groupon to get the oil change (super cheap! good deal!) First oil change was fine, then he referred some work to be done on my vehicle. I have a Subaru WRX. 1. Clutch Replacement 2. Axel Replacement 3. Resealing the Oil Seals (still not sure what that is) 4. Replacement of Rear Tires The work was discounted for students, and I was given a very reasonable price within my budget. the clutch replacement work was done fine, no issues. He replaced my beat up tires with some pre-owned tires for a very good price. But the axel replacement did not go well. Till this day it makes the same creaking sound that I left the autoshop with, every time I accelerate . I came back asking what the issue was, and he told me he just couldn't figure it out..and I was naive enough to believe it. The resealing of the oil seals cost 150 bucks. after 2 months or so the car started to leak once again.. Another issue I encountered was after for the second oil change that was part of the Groupon. After the job was done, I went to the city and parked my car. after a couple of hours through the night, I came back and found oil spilled everywhere under my car. I was literally stranded in downtown SF with a huge oil puddle. Had to call AAA at the middle of the night to have them tow my car away to a autoshop. I found out that the oil filter was improperly installed. A small little mistake, which almost cost me a lot of stress and frustration, plus having to call a friend to pick me up in the middle of the night. It really felt like a "you get what you pay for" kind of experience. He is a really good guy, provides awesome customer service, provides loaner cars, and offers towing service (which at the moment I didn't know of), but wasn't able to do anything special for my vehicle. My car isn't a simple engine to work with, since I've spent my fair share of headaches working on it. Everything is just so compact and is placed in all hard to get areas...Nonetheless I'd rather just figure it out on my own sometimes, or just bite the bullet and let the dealership handle it. read more

It's hard not to feel that you are getting ripped off when you go in for car repairs. Especially when you go in for an oil change and they tell you that you need a new radiator also. But this place, despite my initial fear of "bait and switch" with the need for a new radiator, is the real deal. We bought a groupon for multiple oil changes and when I took my car in - at my appointed time (which, by the way, I loved - knowing I was scheduled for my own half hour and didn't have to leave my car all day for an oil change was a refreshing change of pace), Joe asked, after moving my car into the work area, "Have you noticed a smell of coolant in your car?" I looked at him blankly - How would I know what coolant even smells like? - but he walked me back and showed me not one but two cracks in my radiator, with fluid pouring out. Oops. He told me my car wasn't safe to drive, which even I could tell was the truth. I went to call our regular car repair place and Joe said,"We have a low price guarantee. I'll give you a quote." Before I even called them, the price he gave me was such a deal that I went for it, since I was already there and didn't want to have to wait a week for my regular place to fit me in. He showed me the radiator on the computer, told me the price and that he doesn't mark up his materials like everyone else does. He seemed so honest that I asked if he could take a look at another repair I had been needing, of a lightbulb replacement that I was quoted a minimum of $200 for. He said, "$95 - or less, if it takes me less time." Enterprise rental car picked me up, got me a car, and at the end Car Land takes the price of the rental off your work (it wasn't exactly the price of the car - I ended paying about $2 for some of the tax, but I was so relieved to have my car fixed in half a day, AND having my bulb replaced for just $45 (hard-to-get-at location) and getting such a great price overall that I didn't quibble. Nice guy, honest and great prices. We will definitely be back for more work on our cars. read more

READ BECAUSE THIS IS REAL TALK: I rarely write reviews and I rarely complain. If there is hair in my food, I normally pull it out and continue to consume it. First visit: Used a Groupon. Everything was fine. I believe it was because I was sitting there during the whole visit. 2nd visit: Scheduled me 2 weeks out. I got the standard oil change and after a couple of weeks, my 'service light' came on. First time in 75,000 miles that this light came on. I think nothing of it and proceeded to fix it at a different garage. 3rd visit: The owner said that it would take 45 minutes to complete the oil change. I told him that I was going for a walk and will return when it was ready. I see them lift my car up on the jack and after a 10 minute walk, the car was supposedly finished. Service light came on again. This time, I asked the other garage why, and he said that my oil and filter was straight up filthy. Additional: My engine was screeching and the owner told me that I had a radiator leak and that he would "HOOK ME UP" with a new radiator for $780 (includes labor). I got a 2nd opinion and my friend said that there were no leaks. He tightened the belts and the screeching was gone. I was referred to Car Land by other friends who went there and have only heard great things -- haven't been disappointed yet. Honest, friendly and very hard working. As for the Groupon complaint --most savvy customers know that small stores and service providers often LOSE money on Groupon, and use it more as way to introduce new business to draw in more word of mouth customers. I find Car Land to be awesome. I would say the only reason they're not five stars yet is because I haven't completely made up my mind as to whether or not they are perfect. I work hard for my money, like most people, and think that it's really great to have a mechanic who values your time and money as if it were his own. Joe rocks! PART1: I took my car here the first time on an oil change deal. Let them know i also wanted alignment checked. The oil was changed promptly and much to my surprise, he told me I did not need an alignment. It is easy for Repair Shops to do service one doesn't need, so i was impressed. PART2: My Lexus LS430 needed the timing belt replaced, 90K service, and rear brakes. First i was quoted an excellent price, significantly lower than other shops. 2nd, when i dropped it off I immediately got a visit from Enterprise who took me up the street for a rental car - that CAR LAND TAKES OFF THE BILL!! Wow. So far so good. It took 2 days. I returned the car and went to the shop. He explained everything that was done. Took digital pictures and showed me all parts, what he found, what was replaced, etc. Gave me a free steam cleaning of the engine. Excellent. The service has a 1-year warranty. I found out about this place originally from a Groupon deal I had for 5 oil changes. I was a little hesitant because I would have to come for all 5 visits in order get the maximum deal. They honored my Groupon without any trouble at all. Very friendly staff. Oil change was done within a half an hour. They also have Wi-fi available as well to use in case you get bored waiting. Got a Groupon here for 3 oil changes and was a bit unsure bc of the mixed reviews here but it was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. Only tip I have is that their schedule is pretty tight and they're very booked up, so don't wait until the last minute to redeem your Groupon before it expires. Make an appointment at least 2 weeks earlier! Got my first oil change done this week and was very pleased with the whole experience! The guy who worked on our car was Joe and he was super nice and friendly! Joe did major service on my Biturbo with timing component replacement , suspension, tires, etc. It was finally, running perfect. Unfortunately I sold it... ..I now have Obligatory ownership of a B7 Audi S4. Not everyone works on Audi's, but Joe actually owns one and knows "everything" about them. Go somewhere else! Beware. Do not let your insurance agent pay Car Land directly, or you may have to wait a month to get your car back! The mechanic never had it ready when he said it would be done. It wasn't until the insurance agent was compelled to help by the suggestion that both would be reported, that the mechanic finally worked on it. That's what happened. I recently moved to Campbell and spoke to the owner Joe couple times before I decided to let him work on my e92 335i coupe since he's very close to where I live. He did some inspection on my engine because I noticed white smoke coming out from my hood while driving a few times, and he suggested a valve cover gasket change. Today I dropped off the vehicle to him and I spent the last few hours there before they finished up my vehicle. Valve cover gasket was replaced with some photos Joe took and he washed the engine to monitor the oil leak so when I bring my car back in 1 day or two he can double check and do the oil change for me. The experience I had with Joe was great. As a customer, what we care about the most is to get your money spent worth and mutual trust with the shop in a long run.
