I had decided I would go anywhere in the state where I could find it with the features I wanted and a good price (which in this instance meant about $3-4k under the going rate). Lucky me, Carfax sent me an email with just what I was looking for. I emailed late at night and woke up to a response from PG, letting me know the car was still available. Since Frank's is in Laguna Beach and I am in SF, I asked PG if he'd be willing to test drive the car and let me know if it had any rattles or any other issues that would be cause for concern. PG called me back and let me know it was overall super clean, great car. I gave him a $500 deposit to hold the car for me and then went into overdrive booking a flight, getting car insurance, etc. Now it's been many many years since I've actually purchased a car (leases for 20+ years), and the last car I actually purchased prior was brand new at a dealership. It can be a very scary proposition to buy a used car. And not to be sexist, but I'm a female and I don't work on cars, I merely drive them, so how can I test drive a car and really know if it's going to be solid? Yet there I was less than 48 hours later, showing up in a Lyft at Frank's. The car was so clean it looks pretty much brand new. It drove like a dream. It has the M Sport package, which means besides having the best BMW performance package, it also has very sexy rims. I know, I don't know anything about cars but I know what looks good and this car is all of that and more. PG had let me know that his only concern was that the run flats would likely need to be replaced sooner than later. I looked them over and they seemed fine to me but I really appreciated the fact that he let me know that prior to flying down and he reiterated it when we took the car out for a test drive. PG was great from start to finish. I was in and out of the dealership in under two hours, including the test drive time. And then I drove the car all the way from Laguna to SF. It was a long and busy day for me. It was a great way to see if the car had any issues (none) and to get a feel for my new ultimate driving machine. Flashforward to a week later and I dropped my car off at BMW to get it checked out from bumper-to-bumper, including those pesky run flats. I wanted to ensure the car didn't need servicing or anything major. BMW's verdict? Brakes have more than 50% left. Tires have more than 50% left. Frank's did an oil change but BMW recommends every 10k miles, so I will be getting an oil change in another 5k miles just to get back on track. BMW said the car is in perfect mechanical shape and literally needs nothing done to it. They also said they'd never seen the M package with these rims before and they thought it was gorgeous too! Music to my ears because I paid cash for the car and the last thing I wanted to learn was that I needed to drop a bunch of money into it. I have to say that buying a car with my debit card was a first and a highly freeing experience. I'm so happy I found Frank's and PG. This was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend their services.

When they sold me my 2010 Prius in June of 2024, they didn't mention that it was under a…read moremanufacturer's recall due to Toyota's faulty paint job. I only found out about the recall when the paint started peeling in May of 2026, and that's also when I learned that the recall only lasted till May of 2025. So I had to pay full price at Maaco on Harbor Blvd. to get the car repainted instead of getting it free since I didn't know anything about the problem before the recall expired. And while the car was at Maaco getting repainted, the brake line started leaking. They called the mechanics at Rallysport across the street, and they discovered that the whole underside of the car is corroded. The mechanic even suggested that the car had to have more miles on it than the odometer said judging from the amount of rust and the wear on the brake pads. But at least the brakes failed when it was in the shop rather than when I was out driving...

I was nervous as I arrived alone and every past experience with dealerships has been abrupt & rude and had felt like I got had at some level. The day before, I had consulted with Carmax who offered $1,900 less than the online Kelley Blue Book offer. The week before that, a friend offered to help me sell my Jeep but he tried to get me to sign my title without a date saying that's what all sellers do in advance of selling cars. (Never sign the title until the money has been surrendered to you and the buyer is standing in front of you. I felt betrayed and disappointed by the so-called "friend". I had already contacted a shop owner & friends who only purchase Jeeps. They all wanted to buy my Jeep but times are tough lately & no one was liquid to purchase. I'm telling you all this to let you know how discouraged and roughed up I was feeling by the time I arranged my appoint my for Phillips Auto to see my Jeep. I did not have the knowledge to do all the trudge work necessary & not the time to meet & haggle with prospective buyers when Phillips has the staff & equipment to pass the Wrangler along to someone who would be just as happy with it as I have been driving it. The paperwork was quick. Phillips will do everything needed. All I did was sign & cancel my car insurance--and that process was not as nice as selling the car, wouldn't you know?! (I certainly felt taken advantage of by my car insurance later that day. That is a different and not as cheerful of a Yelp review & I have been with the same insurance company for 40 years.) Phillips treated me better on our first transaction than my long term insurance agent. Phillips Auto even provided me a complimentary Uber ride home. The wonderful element about Phillips is integrity & decency at this family-owned dealership. My car insurance franchise is also family-owned. Mind boggling with how wonderful I regard Phillips Auto.
