For some reason I see most of these Yelp reviews are years old. They are certainly not reflective of the super diagnostic and install service I received (August 22, 2022) from both the Salem store manager (Omar Tapia) and the installation manager (David Sabrowski). After taking my Subaru Outback to the local Salem Subaru dealer they assessed my dead Harmon-Kardon system (head end system with CD and Subaru navigation) as requiring a complete over $1800 parts and service replacement. I declined and drove to Car Toys where they diagnosed the problem as the Subaru factory amplifier --- not the complete audio/navigation system. Short story is they encouraged me to locate another Oregon Subaru dealer with a new factory amplifier part in stock (at several hundred dollars less than the Salem Subaru dealer) , which I did --- for several hundred dollars savings for the amplifier part alone --- and then charged me an extremely reasonable charge for less than 30 minutes swap-out of the bad unit. My total savings over what the local Subaru dealer had quoted --- just over $1115.00 in savings! So the diagnostic ability at Car Toys was far superior to what even the local Subaru dealer did --- and the Subaru dealer charged me more for their false diagnostic (that wasn't accurate) than Car Toys actually did for the actual swap-out and re-install. read more

Had an issue with the CD part of my stereo that Car Toys installed several years ago. I called and was told to swing by after work and while they couldn't guarantee a fix due to the lateness of the day they could probably take a quick look. I did as instructed and went in after I got off work and found them to be quite busy. Then out popped Cody from the back looking for the next person to assist. I stepped forward, explained the situation and he wonderfully offered to sneak a peek to see if it was minor thing or if it would require me dropping off my car in the morning. We went out to my car and pushed a few buttons and voila! It worked! I was thrilled and Cody took the time to show me some helpful hints to keep the stereo in good working order and what to do if this "glitch" happened again. I was elated. I've dealt with other companies that would have just told me I would have to come back in the morning and leave my car because they are no longer taking appointments for the day. I have NEVER been disappointed with Car Toys. They have always been helpful and knowledgeable but without the strong arm sales tactics. Absolutely the best people! I brought my 2015 Mustang in to be pimped out. Fully upgraded sound and subs, full interior and exterior rbg lighting effects, ceramic paint coating, and heat resistant window tinting. The car is a memorial to my late father. Everyone on the staff was immediately like an old friend. They were knowledgeable but didn't make me feel ignorant. They were also very empathetic and loved that the car is dedicated to my dad. That meant a lot because I want this car to be love and pride like he was. I really can't recommend Car Toys on Lancaster in Salem too strongly. There are very few places who even do this kind of customization. Options range from drug addicts on Facebook marketplace to extremely high end shops that only do luxury classic cars. For me, Car Toys and the crew there, let by Honest Omar went way above and beyond. Even detailing the car and catching that I had over paid by $50! What's even more amazing is that they slashed the prices on everything I had purchased without me even having to request. I know I'll be back soon. Go here to go there! read more

I could not believe the service these guys all gave me from the time i walked in the door they were all asking me what i liked and showing me around the store. I finally found all the things i wanted and we talked about all the options of the equitment that i was looking at and where we could go from there. After narrowing down all the options and the things we were going to put into my 2003 chevy 1500HD it was a done deal they started right away working on my truck and making sure that things were gonig as quick as posible and that i would be on the road soon. The manager jeremy zanders not only just made sure i got what i came in dor but he really asked the right questions and got personable with me to find out not only my wants but needs also. He had my best intention in my and really explained and showed me the value in my purchase. And the also introduced one of his top installers cody olson and let me k ow he was houng to make my stereo look better than it did coming from the factory . And he didnt lie. i went to this store to get a car alarm for 150 instead i walk out with a bill for 354. After waiting for what 5 hours to get it installed my battery was totally drained out and when i called them on it they were rude to me. My wife came up to pick me up while i waited and she wanted info on a radar detector and no one would help her and then this putz comes to the register and says rudely can i help you and i told him what my wife needed but there was no one around and suddenly everyone in the store comes back and he went out to my wifes car and she wasnt interested so better service go to best buy for stereos or car alarms dont wast your time read more

I Just had a Clifford 5906X alarm / remote start system installed in my 2003 Hummer H2 at the Car Toys store in Salem, Oregon. The staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable and the technician Anton did a superior job with high quality. I am an Electrical Engineer with a quality control background and the technician was both knowledgeable and performed a high quality installation. None of my factory wires were cut. The Clifford system was tapped into the wiring harness and the connections soldered and tapped, and the wiring harness was neatly zip tied. I had a wonderful experience at this car toys. They sold me everything I wanted and what I need to install it. They ended up installing the car stereo and I end up having problems with it so I brought it back in and they had to switch out the harness but they gave me 20 credit for the one that didn't work and then gave it to me at cost for then so I ended up only paying 40 bucks for so I was vary happy with my service at this car toys. They weren't pushy at all with trying to sell me on stuff. But just helped me get what I wanted. read more
