Very friendly family owned bakery, total New York experience and totally enjoyable and worth the visit! These folks know their customers .... mom and pips with great baked goods! The staff is outstanding! They are very personable and willing to help you when you are ready. The cookies are pretty good! The holiday cookies actually tasted better than the average cardboard cookies you get at a lot of other bakeries! The pastries are ok not the best but they are good. Cardinali Bakery has the most delicious black & white cookies, mini cannolis, piñoli cookies and cinnamon buns! They were moist & freshly baked in a meticulously clean environment. All displays are enticing and the aroma inside is enticing. The employee that took my order was very friendly, knowledgeable & professional. Everything was packaged securely so I was able to freeze leftovers well. I was quite impressed that even after freezing & microwaving pastries for a few minutes, they tasted just like they were fresh out of the oven. Suggest ordering lots of pastries since they are reasonably priced, scrumptious & won't last long. Although Cardinali Bakery is not close to my house, it is well worth the trip!!! I've been coming here for years and never really had a problem but recently i ordered a birthday cake for my sons 19th birthday party and had such a bad experience i could never see myself going back. Asked for an image on the cake and writing on it and when i went to pick it up there was no image and was missing some of the writing. When i spoke to the person over the phone to address the issue i was brushed off the phone and her reason was there were people in the bakery that were more important then an issue she couldn't help me with then hung up. Oh and to mention i was still charged the same price i was given with all the works but didn't get the works! SMH!!! I'm so disappointed. All my family and i have been coming here for over 10 years. I'm a bit confused with such extreme good and bad experiences, however friends brought over a crumb top cheesecake yesterday with a slight layer of raspberry under the crumbs and it was truly the best cheesecake I have ever eaten in any bakery, restaurant or even my own home recipe which I really like. It was the creamiest texture, great flavor and so fresh. I am concerned they maybe inconsistent but I will take the 45 minute drive next time I want cheesecake and hope it continues to be as good. read more

Above average bakery but not so great it's worth the travel from another town. We had a bunch of mini pastries and they all tasted fresh and moist. But other than being really sweet, each pastry did not have much of its distintive taste. Red velvet cake had the cream cheese icing but the cake itself didn't have much taste. Carrot cake was sweet and otherwise bland. Oreo cake had a hint of chocolate cake taste, but that's about it. Since these three were so underwhelming, I'm not inclined to sample the rest. read more

A friend brought Cardinali cupcakes to work for a birthday and they looked so good that I couldn't resist breaking my diet. Trying to choose what I wanted was the hard part, but I settled for a chocolate with an Oreo on top, because how can you possibly go wrong when there's Oreos involved??? SO GOOD. The icing was rich and creamy, and the cupcake itself was to die for. The chocolate almost reminded me of a dark chocolate??? Honestly writing this review is making me sad that I don't have at least 3 more cupcakes sitting in front of me!! While the cupcakes are the only thing I've tried, seeing all of the other reviews about different desserts has my stomach growling for more!!! Stopped here today for some Halloween desserts and they had a really nice selection to pick from! I chose two cakes, one a pumpkin shaped custard and strawberry purée, and the second was chocolate mousse! Staff were very friendly! Nice, "old-fashioned" styled bakery! First, there is a credit min. (I think $10) which I'm not a fan because you dont spend that much if you are in the mood for a single dessert or 2. The cashier always gives you your change back over or around the tip jar. One time she turned the jar towards me to make sure the words "TIPS" are facing me. There was plenty of different baked breads and pastries to select from. I finally settled on an apple danish which looked delicious and was a very generous size. It gives me pain to write this BUT it is my hope that Cardinali people read it. It IS NOTICED that your Cannoli cake is no longer the best or even very good. You are using much less whipped cream , MUCH less cannoli filling , much less almond garnish! I don't know how you have changed the yellow cake body but the taste just isn't there. I planned a party for my husband in which I completely forgot to order the sheet cake. It was the morning of the party when I remembered. In a panic I called Cardinali and asked if it was possible to get for today. The girl on the phone said sure after 3 pm today, no problem! She also offered suggestions to email them a picture or two to put on the cake so it looks really nice. Not only were they able to make the cake to my specifications on such short notice but it was the most delicious, freshest sheet cake I have ever had! I satisfied my sweet tooth here on this lovely spring day. I found parking on the street right on Westbury Avenue and proceeded inside. The cashier was chatting with a customer, but I didn't mind. I used this time to peruse the shelves to see what they had to offer. The tiramisu immediately caught my eye and I couldn't leave an Italian bakery without getting a lobster tail. That would just be plain wrong. The desserts were three dollars a piece and the girl boxed them up for me quickly. I would have eaten them right then and there but there were not tables to sit. While I was there I noticed they are offering several gift options for Easter. If you are looking for something nice to bring to an Easter party they have a few options. The tiramisu was so delicate and creamy. The layers were moist and there was just the right amount of sweetness. I was concerned about the lobster tail because I'd read on yelp that someone was unhappy with them due to burnt bottoms. Thankfully that was not the case with me today but I was able to view them through the glass before ordering and they looked tasty. The cream was light and the pastry dough was flaky and crumbly. The cream alone would have been fine, I didn't need the maraschino cherry on top. It was actually kind of dry looking so I didn't eat it but it did look nice for decoration purposes. I'm very happy with my choices and this was a seamless purchase. As I exited there were two plates near the counter with cube sized samples of some of the baked goods. I didn't ask what they were but one could have been a danish and the other a crumb cake. I tasted a nibble of each and they were both good. I will definitely be back to try other items. read more

We went for a walk around the block and ended up walking to this bakery. The smell and pastry displays were so inviting that we just couldn't just walk by. We stopped and purchased a nut bread that as absolutely delicious. I also got some French pastries for home. The fruit custard pies look delicious. We went back after the holidays and they were all sold out. I ended up having to make my own, but I'm sure that it wasn't as good. I'm not sure that it is good or bad that this bakery is walking distance from my son's house. Every time we visit, I will have to go off my diet. Oh well...I haven't gone to a bakery in so long. To tell you the truth, I did get a little sticker shock at the prices. Although pricey, it was worth it for a treat once in a while...especially during the holidays. The last two times I've gone in here for pastries the bottoms have been burnt (specifically the lobster tails). When I went in today I should have asked to see them before they were packaged but I didn't and wanted to be positive. But low and behold I get home and found the bottoms burnt. I got the sfogliatelle, rainbow cookies and mini eclairs and they were all delicious. Especially the rainbow cookies. I am not a big fan of rainbow cookies, but the ones from this bakery are really good. The jam gives the cookie an amazing kick. The sfogliatelle was also good, but it was kinda heavy. App it's behind the register. The bakery smells great like an old school bakery & primarily offers staple items. There were no more rainbow cookies left so can't speak to those. I go to this bakery regularly as it's the only bakery in my neighborhood and sadly it's just disappointing. To start with, the cream they use on their Tiramisù is not mascarpone cheese based, it's just some whipped cream based product. Same goes for the Napoleon (millefoglie in Italy). I bought then a cheesecake and it's just average, quality I could have bought at a supermarket, so the price I paid wasn't justified. The biscuits are nice, but let's be frank, all in all the buttercookie bakery of New Hyde Park beats Cardinali 10 to 0 Today I bought 2 small slices of focaccia, one with eggplant, one with courgettes. No cheese, no meat. Price: $8. Whaaaaaat? "It's focaccia, you know?" Was the explanations. Look, I'm really Italian, just moved here 2 years ago and you can't fool me by dropping Italian names to raise the price. Focaccia is water, flour and salt, its just bread for crying out loud! I am very displeased with the service I was given at the bakery yesterday. My purchase contained a Halloween cupcake, a Halloween pumpkin cookie, and a 2 lbs tray of assorted cookies. The girl who was assisting us was very rude and unfriendly. When I ordered the cupcake she put it into a small pastry box. When she was going for the cookie she reached for a paper bag. I asked if she would be able to put it into a box and explained I was giving the cookie to my nephew for trick or treating. She said "the cookie is too small for a box". So I said what if I buy 2 or 3-- She hastily started grabbing more cookies before I was able to tell her which ones I wanted. Finally I made a comment and said I will just take the cupcake out of the box and put the cookie it myself. We ended up paying $0.50 for a box for the cookie. I understand that they may have protocol in place and that the box is also considered inventory. But it wasn't like I was going in and asking for 25 cookies in individual boxes. It was one cookie. I also had an almost $40 bill. I think the box could have been thrown in for me. The attitude was also not necessary at all. read more
