Got my graduation party cake ordered from here. I live 20 minutes away but picked it up anyway.. I get home and they spelled my name wrong. I called back they said to bring it back in. I went back and some of the bakers and girls working there were yelling at each other and then they just kind of shoved the cake back to me and that was it. It definitely was not the smoothest transaction, nor was I happy about turning right back around after driving for 45 minutes. I know, I should've checked the cake before I left but the counters are almost above my eye level, and the receipt on top of the cake had my name written correctly. Must say the workers are excellent. You can tell they are not happy with where they work (and not a fan of the baker) but will still help you out as much as they can. However my mom went there 3 days in a row to see if they had cupcakes and they didn't. (Early in the morning all 3 times) worst part was a lot of their pastries were there for all 3 days. They were starting to look extremely dry and sloppy and who knows how long they have been there for. Longer than 4 days that's for sure. read more

my uncle goes to cardinali bakery almost every saturday he spends between $60 and $85 dollars each time he goes there and he also tips the girl that helps him. Two saturdays ago on april 7th he bought $82. dollars of stuff and told the girl to put it in one bag , unfortunately when he got to his cousin's house the chocolate mousse cheese cake was not in the bag.So i proceeded to call and the girl that answered the phone said oh yes it is right here on the counter ,i told the girl his name and told her they owed him a cake when he goes back in there they said no problem. Fast forward to this week april 14th he goes in to buy some cakes and asks the girl about the cake they owed him none knew what he was talking about so he spent $60.on pastries and a chocolate mousse cheese cake. when he told us about them not honoring the cake they owed him we called and spoke to one of the owners who was rude and said i don't want to hear the story what do you want so i said you owe my uncle a chocolate mousse cheese cake the owner abruptly said come in before 8pm and get it.so i did and when i went in to get it the girl said that will be $25. i said no its free picked it up and left. read more

Cake is fine but the staff is horrible and rude. My office was using them for quite a bit, spending at least $100 to $150 a month on cakes. I will never use them again! They were late quite a few times delivering the cake, and we are not talking 10-20 min, over an hour or more. When I call to check the status, I am always given such an attitude by the girls who answer the phone. They sound very young and might be family members of the owners but I don't care if they are the owner's daughters, the fact that they are allowed to speak to customers the way they do is ridiculous. Well I will be taking them off my company's list as office bakery. I rather drive myself to BJ's or Costco and get a cake, tastes just as good and you get no attitude. They need to give an option for zero stars on this. read more

Went to this bakery solely Bc the reviews were great. I can not tell you how disappointed I was in the grain pie, which by the way was 28$!!! Not only was the pie clearly not a traditional grain pie. It was mushy, wet, with fruit in it!! And when I opened the box a part of the top was missing. So the cake was damaged. Not only was it way too sweet. It was nothing like any grain pie I have ever eaten. It was awful. Sad when u wait an entire year for this seasonal pie and end up with a sweet mushy pie that doesn't even resemble what a normal grain pie tastes like. Zero stars for this bakery! read more

After making us wait about 5 minutes plus while two employees continued to walk by, talk, and ignore us, we finally told the counter girl no thanks, and then walked out. Customer service here is definitely missing something. This was not the first time. Regarding food, based on past visits, the carrot cake has way too much cream cheese frosting and not nearly enough cake. Cookies are no better than in any other bakery and are short on real taste. Cheesecake is just average. The cannolis are pretty good - fresh and not as chalky tasting as in other places. In the end though, there are just too many places for better dessert and much better service in the immediate area, so no need to come back again. read more

I love Cardinali's pastries! They are always delicious and fresh. I can never pick a favorite because they are all so good!! I love the berry tartlets. They are so colorful and pretty to look at and the pastry cream is rich and sweet and pairs so well with the fresh berries. The chocolate mousse cake is light and creamy and definitely worth a try. I also really enjoy their cannoli cream in anything whether it is in the cannoli shell or inside their layer cake. If you have a hankering for something savory them u should try their focaccia pizza. It is fresh and delish! Fresh mozzarella with basil and a hearty yet simple tomato sauce. The bread itself is airy and crisp and addictive. Truly delightful! They also have donuts. I tried the jelly donut and it wasn't my favorite. It tasted a little stale and I wished there was more jelly filling but no one is perfect. On a much brighter note, I had my husband's birthday cake made here by the Cake Don a few months ago and it was incredible!!! A gorgeous, stunning cake and fabulously delicious as well! All our guests at the party raved about the cake!!! The service is always friendly. When I walk in with my children, the girls behind the counter always offer them a cookie. You should hear the squeals of delight from my kids! The smiles on their faces and the amazing baked goods I leave with make me a happy woman every time I visit! I stopped by as I was craving for some sweets and didn't feel like driving all the way to Lety's in Queens . Well, lobster tail was not crunchy but the cream was good. Not too sweet and not too heavy. I definitely had way better though. I also got cannoli. Well, I'm sorry that was not good. First of all, the shell was too crunchy and had no flavor. Cannoli cream needs more ricotta in my opinion. That being said, girls in the store was nice hence earning 2 stars. read more

I recently ordered a sheet cake for my sons communion from Cardinali bakery in Carle Place. I brought a picture of what I wanted the cake the look like. It was pretty simple flowers and a cross made from fondant etc. When I ordered it I was very specific as to the colors I wanted for the flowers and cross. They reassured me that they can do it. I wanted maroon/burgandy, baby blue, and yellow colored flowers. I specifically asked if they can make burgandy colored flowers and cross. The owner reassured me. In fact, the 1/2 sheet cake was $60 and he wanted to charge me $25 for the fondant cross to be placed on the cake. I thought the price of the cross was ridiculous being it was almost half the price of the cake. The owner was very personable and reassuring regarding the colors and he even took $5 off. I figured they are a professional bakery and it should be fine. We scheduled for a 12pm delivery to the restaurant where I was having my 1:00 party. The day of the party the cake got delivered at 2:45.(not 12pm as discussed) The flowers and cross on cake were brown (not burgandy as discussed). This was a communion cake with brown flowers. The cross was brown and bleeding on the cake. The writing on the cake looked like my 7 year old son wrote it. It was a mess. The words weren't capitalized, the words on each line were different sizes and one part of the words were squeezed in and written tiny(as if they left it out and tried to fit it in) It was horrible. Ive been ordering cakes for years and I never saw such unprofessional work. Not one person at my party gave a compliment about the cake which tells me it did not make an impression at all. What a disappointment! When we cut the cake it tasted good. The only thing is the cannoli filling I chose was not pure cannoli. It seemed to be mixed with another cream, maybe whipped cream, to give it a lighter creamier taste. I prefer pure solid cannoli filling. I called the owner to tell him the cake flowers and cross were brown and the writing looked terrible and how could this happen after we discussed it thoroughly. I offered to send him pictures. He said to send him pictures which I did and I never heard back from him again. He never apologized nor contacted me after he got the pictures. All in all, I wasn't looking for anything. I didn't want anything free nor did I want a refund of any kind. Maybe an explanation or an apology as to why my cake was screwed up. A cake I paid $80 for to get the exact colors, writing and decorations that we discussed 2 days before and I was reassured by them it would be exactly as the picture I gave them. I just wanted him to know how unprofessional his cake looked. They definitely could care less about their customers. read more

First, I must say, that I've never gone into a bakery or such speciality establishment and encountered worse staff than there. I believe the girls working there are part of the family that owns it, so they can get away with that kind of behavior. I went there a few times, so did my parents and same story. Christmas night, we went there, ordering a substantial amount of things. One, a cake, since we were visiting a family that invited us for dinner and another order, consisted of about 7 sliced cakes. When we politely asked for the 2 boxes to be wrapped, as they were displayed in such way on their shelves, the answer we got was, in a rude manner, that they wrap cookies only??? The owner showed up, as we asked again for them to be wrapped, and he instructed the girls to wrap it. One was done, by obviously annoyed girl. In the middle of wrapping the second one, the girl turned to me and said so rudely: " I don't have time for this!", and she walked away. I was appalled!!! Had I not needed the cakes, as they were presents, I would have walked right out. And, the worst thing is, this is nothing unusual... they are as rude every time. No respect or sense for customer service. I proceeded to wrap my own cake, and decided to leave it, as I realized that I should not be doing such as a customer. I complained to the owner, and only then, did another girl go to finish wrapping it, just as annoyed as the first one. What are these girls doing there and who allows them to be working there in the first place...must be, as I mentioned before, family. They may be famous in Carle Place, but they are NOT the only bakery around. I'd rather pay more somewhere else, but get a smile or just decent customer service. As for their cakes...nothing special, napoleon, just like any other, and all other cakes, same as the ones you can find anywhere else. So, that was my last time there, no more excuses. will not stand there and be disrespected and tolerate some hormonal 16 year old who dreads being there. Thank you, but no thank you! read more

If you have a SERIOUS sugar tooth then this is your bakery. First time buying from this Italian bakery. Went early and they said they wouldn't have Italian cookies out until 3PM so I settled for the only Italian cookie they did have, pignolis. Then bought a few mini pastries i.e. napoleons, eclairs, and a few mini fruit tarts. The pignoli cookies and napoleons had so much sugar that was all you could taste. May as well have just opened a bag of sugar and poured it in my mouth. Dad actually spit out the napoleon. A shame to waste the other good ingredients by overpowering with sugar. The pignoli cookies were as they should be....bake wise....firm outside and soft inside with plenty of pignolis but the overpowering sugar was again all you could taste. No wonder they were the only Italian cookies that were on display when I went. Guess people know how overly sweet they are and skip them. The mini fruit tarts and eclairs were not as sweet and okay except for the fact that they were really skimpy on the custard filling. Next time I'll try a different bakery. This one is just too heavy handed with sugar. read more
