I'll start by saying that I'm quite the meat eater, but I'm open to trying things. I ordered a hot cocoa with almond milk that didn't have a ton of chocolate flavor, so I'm not sure that I would get that again. I went with the mushroom quiche and the crust on it was amazing! I could have probably added some hot sauce to spice up the semi bland center, but the crust really made up for everything else. I also got a molasses crackle that I didn't like at all...but I'm not going to blame that on the bakery. It tasted like gingerbread and I just don't like gingerbread/ginger. I would like to go back and try the carrot lox and a few more of the sweets. I think I'll go with tea for my drink next time too. read more

I stumbled upon Carina's bakery this morning while in Beaverton. The goods were all vegan and there was a great selection including gluten free options. I brought home a piece of almond cake, pumpkin bread, chocolate cake, and a pot pie to try with my family. I don't eat dairy and minimize gluten but love baked goods. The rest of the family has no dietary restrictions. We all loved the baked goods! I saved the pot pie for tomorrow and can't wait to try it. I love this bakery and it's one my new favorite spots in Beaverton. It is just a heartwarming place with a beautiful backstory. Two minutes ago, I just ate a little bit more of the cupcakes Carina baked and they are simply melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I knew I had to write this review. Carina really came through for us. These are hard times for everyone due to the virus and the smoke. One bakery that I had called fell through. Then, Carina told me she could bake cupcakes for our one year-old's first birthday and they would be done the next day. In the rush of things, we had a miscommunication. When I came in saw the cupcakes at first I was a bit disappointed, but thanks to Carina's cleverness and quick-thinking she thought of a great way to fix the cupcakes in a minute. (I had wanted yellow frosting, but it was white, and then she dusted them with tiny yellow sparkling sprinkles.) Our cupcakes were brilliant - literally (luminescent yellow!!) and figuratively. We LOVED our cupcakes. Incidentally, Carina's cupcakes are vegan, and we are not particularly vegan, but do not hesitate to buy vegan. They are just wonderful. The marzipan frosting is top-notch! Definitely on par with buttercream. (Besides, we knew back in our old hometown the vegan cupcake bakery regularly won competitions.) The bakery has much more than cupcakes and is an adorable, cheery, comfy place to grab a latte or more. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

I've been here maybe a half dozen times since Carina opened the place, and I really want to support them. But I usually struggle w/the same things here. Quality and pricing for said quality. I'm ok w/the price if only the quality was there. I visited this Sunday morning after not being in for probably almost a year. I was hoping for a bunch of fresh baked goodies. We picked 6-7 different pastries, and just about every one of them tasted 1 or 2 days old. Again, I really want this place to succeed w/their abilities, and the more women owned businesses the better IMO. I just hope they can turn around the quality. read more

This place is the best. I had a friend bring me some cookies from their shop and decided I had to go in for myself. Everything is vegan which is awesome! But also makes it hard to not leave with one of everything. We picked up a couple of sweets for the next day's breakfast and everything was delicious. I will most definitely be coming back for more. I also recommend their chai latte. It was one of the best I've had in a while. Make sure you stir it once in a while, because I didn't realize how spicy it was until I got to the end. It had an almost black pepper hint to it and was absolutely perfect. I always recommend oat milk for lattes also. Next time I pop in I will make sure to take some pictures of their divine offerings so you can drool at the thought of eating everything along with me. I'd you want to spend $40 on 6 hard, cold, not fresh, very dry and tiny baked goods go here!! Had an out of town guest visiting and my local bakery had a line around the block and no time to wait. So I decided to order from this local bakery to have delivered through Uber Eats. The menu looked tasty and yelp reviews averaged 4.5 so this place seemed a no brainer. I ordered a total of 7 pastries both sweet and savory. My total came to about $40. One of them was almost $8, so as a first time customer i'm assuming the portion is substantial. I received my order in 2 tiny white boxes you usually receive in a restaurant for your leftovers 1. They shorted me an item. And didn't adjust the price for my order 2. Every single item was very small and absolutely not worth the hefty price per item 3. Not one item seemed to have been made fresh. They were all clearly taken out of a refrigerator and were hard from refrigeration. You couldn't even cut them easily. They were very hard and not an ounce of elasticity for a baked good. 4.One of the items was sugary and sweet and had a nice flavor profile to it, but I couldn't even tell you what it was as every single item, all different, looked almost exactly the same. Definitely a waste of time, money, and credibility as a host on my end. Will never patron again. read more

Carina's Bakery is my favorite. I'm not vegan, but I am vegetarian and I have gluten sensitivities. Carina's Bakery always has enough options for me that I have trouble deciding what to get, though I can never go wrong with the Scandinavian almond cake. The items are always clearly marked with what type of allergens they contain so there's no guessing. Carina's also has a rewards program that lets you earn points you can redeem for food or coffee. I've never ordered coffee at Carina's, so I can't speak to that, and I am excited to try one of the smorgas options. I'll get back to you about that. read more

What a cute, and delicious bakery! We finally made it to check this place out and weren't disappointed. We went for sweets after lunch so didn't get to try any of the savory items. We'll do that on the next visit. We sampled 5 different cookies and loved them all!! The chocolate chip, cinnamon and chocolate crinkle, hazelnut and chocolate shortbread, a sugar cookie Easter egg that was frosted and another shortbread type. While here I got an apple cider donut, the coffee chocolate brownie, GF white bread, and GF morfar's smorgas (the savory dish with fake egg). Everything here was absolutely delicious aside from the morfar's smorgas which was awful. They shouldn't sell it, it's that bad . This is the second time I have been here. I am vegan and feel so damn lucky to have such a high-quality specialty bakery on the west side. Every item I have gotten here has been outstanding. Today I got an almond bar and an espress/ chocolate brownie. Super awesome! And those that balk at the prices? Go to Saint Honore and see what they change (way more). You get what you pay for, and you get high quality all the way here. You are also supporting a small bakery (looks family-run) with grassroots social justice programs in place. I bought a 'pay it forward' token today "for those who need something but don't have the funds" (or something like that). I was given a token to place on a small tree in the bakery. I was delighted to see it loaded with other tokens, I think for whoever walks in and asks for something to eat. This place is win/win! read more

This is a quaint little bakery just off Lombard past I-217. For the small space, I was impressed by the wide variety of their offerings! Mostly sweet stuff (primarily cookies, along with some muffins, cakey things, and sweet rolls), with a few savory options. I tried the almond cake and the sausage roll. The almond cake was just amazing. Perfect texture--a hint of crispness on the outside and soft but not crumbly inside, and not cloying or overwhelming of almond extract. The sausage roll is a housemade bean patty wrapped in a pesto bread. It was just ok. Probably not worth the $3.00. I'll probably stop in here again if I'm in the mood for a cookie or muffin and in the neighborhood, but won't go out of my way for it. read more

I particularly like that everything is made in house and is on the smaller size for portions. It is vegan and soy-free with some gluten-free as well for those of you that this is important. They also carry lunch-related items. They are starting slow but each time I have visited (they just had their Grand Opening a week or so ago), they are getting it down. I have tried several items. My favorite so far has been the peanut butter cookies (named after the owners service dog), the lime shortbread, and an almond cake. Such a wonderful little bakery! I mean it is 100% VEGAN!!!! Which is the best part. The coffee cake is SOOOO DELICIOUS!! It paired so perfectly with my hot chocolate. Carina recommended oat milk with it so it would froth better, at it was very yummy. Almond cake was great also, crisp on the outside and delicious almonds. I am definitely going back!
