I understand that there are going to be people coming from the bars at 2:30 in the morning, but when a table of drunk girls are yelling, swearing, & banging on the table so loud that you can't hold a conversation on the other side of the restaurant, managers need to step in. We complained & nothing was done. But entitled jerks in the booth behind us didn't have there food within a few minutes of ordering & had their check comped. Several tables also left without paying. Apparently management doesn't care. I feel bad for the servers left to deal with that. read more

I've never had a bad meal here. Prices are reasonable. Staff is always friendly and personable. The morning/lunch crew are all great. If you show up more than once a month, you'll quickly become a regular. Breakfast is always in front of me within 3 minutes.This is definitely my favorite Diner, in the area. read more

Where to start with this awful, dingy diner. We should have known something was wrong when we had to wait five minutes to be seated. I had a chance to look around--everything looked dirty and worn. That's not necessarily a bad thing, some of the best diners I've ever eaten at look similar. After our five minute wait to be seated, though, it was nearly ten minutes until a surly, put-upon woman (who looked to be a manager or something, rather than a waitress) came to take our order. She was upset that we already knew what we wanted and asked her to put our order in. OK. When the food did come, which was very fast, it was obvious that most of it was frozen at one time or another. We didn't get anything fancy--a french dip, a reuben, a grilled cheese. Basic diner food, usually it's very difficult to mess that up. The breads did not appear, or taste, fresh. The meat in the sandwiches was tough. At least everything was edible and relatively cheap. Bottom line, if you don't care about poor customer service and barely edible food, this is the place for you. My family and I will never waste our money there again! Unless it's 2am and nothing else is open, I'd encourage you to skip Carlisle Diner. Poor service appears to be the primary attraction, because it isn't the food. I had the meatloaf because it was recommended by the waitress. It was salty and not very good at all. Judging from the other reviews, my experience isn't unique. Was there for the customer appreciation week. $9.99 for a 8 oz prime rib. I had a choice of soup, salad or chilli. I chose chilli. It was very meaty, not much spice and for me could have been hotter. I chose fries and a potato stuffing for my 2 sides. The fries were horrible, they were Sysco frozen with a very salty covering, I left most of them. The potato stuffing ball was interesting, but did not work for me. The meat was good, the au jus was soso. Service was inconsistent as waiters go on either side of the restaurant instead of working tables grouped together. For $9.99 it was a bargain, I just need to choose more carefully with some of the sides. read more

Don't get a salad. They cut the tomato and left the stem in. My salad had the core and stem of the lettuce in it. Then I watched another table return a salad because it had a bug in it. The pork chops were good. They charged me a $1.25 to add cheese to my kids salad. The place is dated. It explains why i haven't been here in the 30 years I've been in this area. This is my favourite diner in central pa. Great service, good coffee, and they have grits! Can't beat the prices.

Extremely good, moist sliced roast pork open faced sandwich with very good hot gravy. Potato salad yummy. Cucumber salad delicious. Large portions. Husband had stuffed green peppers. Stopped in at the Carlisle diner after a soccer game. This place came highly recommend by friends. Service and food was great. We ordered burgers and fries. This was our first visit to the diner. I believe our waitress was Danny (July 7 around 6pm) and she was, by far, the best waitress we have had anywhere, in a long time. She was attentive, friendly, great sense of humor and knew just when to refill drinks, check in for our needs and so on. The food was delish and the portions were abundant. The food is reasonably priced, as would be expected in a diner, and people are served as quickly as possible. However, once seated I looked at the carpeting and noticed large stains of freshly ground-in food. In addition there were very noticeable, unpleasant odors emanating from somewhere in the restaurant. During my most recent visit, the odor that day was a distinct familiar smell one would usually associate with an unkempt gas station lavatory, so I had to assume it was coming from the bathroom which was actually quite a distance away from where we were sitting. I was very surprised that the place was as busy as it was considering the conditions I'd mentioned. I actually used to attend a men's breakfast group that met every few weeks at this restaurant for a period of months. An unpleasant odor was present every time we gathered. Good food and good crew. Yes, a diner is a diner. Foods are pretty much what you will find in any diner. If you are in a hurry on a weekday morning, it takes about 3 minutes to get breakfast once you have ordered. I've never been in during early morning, with the bar crowds. That's just not for me, so you'll have to find out for yourself. This is not owned by the same people who own Fairground and Walnut Bottom. Those two are owned by two brothers, but those diners are independent of each other in ownership and staff. read more

Since the new ownership the food just sucks. They are either out of something or giving you old vegetables. They raised the prices just enough that it isn't worth the quality of food that you get. The food isn't hot when it comes out and the waitresses even admit that the food doesnt look right. The service just lacks and is extremely slow. We found the dinner on Yelp after deciding to spend the night in Carlisle on our way to Brooklyn. I had the Greek Omelette and my husband had the western omelette. They came with real home fries and toast. They were delicious! Breakfasts are not something I normally get too excited about, but this food was so fresh and beyond reasonably priced. Coffee was very good. Also, it was very clean. I would not hesitate to recommend the diner. It is not to far from the industrial area or the main part of the borough. read more

I have never had anything good at carlisle diner. Every time ive been there the food was unedible, stale or overly salty. It is painfully obvious that the cooks have no sense of quality control.
