The Carl's Jr at the corner or Eubank & Constitution in Albuquerque always has their open sign on even when closed. Not a major issue really. But it can be annoying sitting in the drive thru waiting for service for several minutes before realizing they are still closed. The food at Carl's is always good. I have never had an issue with that. The drive thru cashiers always make customers pull forward to wait for their food. even if it is only one item. I rarely go here anymore because of the issues. I know they seem small. but little things count. All in all, for the food I recommend Carl's. For the service, meh. The cashiers are friendly enough. But I will never understand making every single customer pull forward in the drive thru. read more

The Renaissance location has terrible service pretty much any time of day, I but was nearby and thought I'd give it another shot, since Carl's Jr used to be a personal favorite (before the steady decline of the past few years). Paid over $17 for a single large meal only to learn that that "large" translates into exactly 16 overcooked fries. They didn't even attempt to make the box look half-full. Now I know why Michael, who sounded so tired I could barely understand him speak, was so quick to hand me my bag and ask me to pull forward, despite there being no other vehicles behind me. Ordered a double, was charged for a double, and yet when I arrived home I only unwrapped a guacamole bacon burger with a single patty, and no bacon. I gave up on asking for alterations (such as no tomato) long ago, as all requests are consistently ignored, but I had hoped that they could at least make the basic burger from Their menu that they charged me for. My first thought when I unwrapped my bundle of disappointment was that going forward I will just have to fully check the order (to include unwrapping all burgers) before leaving. Not only was I never served after sitting for 10 minutes probably actually more like 12 minutes at the drive-through but the guy that got on and repeatedly told me that he'd be right with me yet wasn't right with me sounded like he had been asleep. Then there was a guy behind me that immediately got heated on and got his food. I don't understand it. This is my go to place for lunch during the week. The food always made fresh. The drive thru moves fast and my order is always right the first time. Edna is usually at the drive thru during lunch time and she keeps it moving. I enjoy the chicken tender box for 5 dollars which includes Fries and a cookie. Are you serious. Absolutely the worst hamburger I have ever ordered or attempted to eat. Have seen the commercials on TV and they make the $2.50 dbl cheese burger sound and look awesome. It can't even stack up to McDonald's McDouble, which you can get for $.85 at some locations in Albuquerque. I wanted so bad to take it back to the counter and show it to the manager, but what the heck. Wouldn't of shown him any that he doesn't see every day. Want a bang for your bucks! Was super hungry for lunch one day and stopped here! I've passed up Carls so many times because I only eat chicken no beef. Try the chicken strips! Super juicy with an amazing crust. There is no comparison to Chick-fil-A or KFC! I was completely surprised. $5 meal gets you 3 strips, fries and a soda! If breaded food is too greasy for me I get sick - and these crunchy delightful strips are moist and tender not greasy! Next time I returned and ordered the six piece. Well couldn't finish them so I threw 'em in the fridge. Typically can't do this with drive in food or you get dry tasteless hard to chew junk. Not with these delectables! I popped them in my toaster oven a couple of days later and could not believe, they were still moist! Super love the strips! Will be my next choice over KFC! read more

I've been on a unhealthy kick this week. Why I stopped at Carl's Jr this morning was something unusual for me. It was right across the way from CostCo Gas and seeing the 69 Cent soda sign...my weakness for Diet Coke overtook me. Unfortunately, when I got to the drive up menu, I saw that they have Cherry Coke...and that happens to be my favorite drink. I drink it once in awhile and I do not buy soda for home anymore. But this morning...it was a flashing beacon in the early morning light. I order a Cherry Coke...and Bacon Cheese Egg Biscuit.... total: $2.69. :-) The large there is HUGE! Like a bucket o' pop! Once I open my breakfast sandwich...it smells like movie theatre buttered popcorn. Now either that is a good thing or a very bad thing. Well, for my arteries it is. The sandwich is a good size and EXTREMELY buttered and cheesed. The guilt is kicking in. Taste-wise, it's okay. It's a little too much for me. A good portion of egg, crisp bacon, and cheese...it's all..well...cheesy greasy badness. I am now sitting at my desk, guilt ridden, working on my workout routine for tonight, tomorrow and Sunday Morning. Fast food burgers are usually more of an occasional expediency than a culinary treat, but Carl's Jr bucks this trend and offers hamburgers that you don't feel like a chump for paying for. They're not going to beat out a decent burger from a sit-down restaurant, but they've got their fast food competition beat. They offer a lot of toppings other places simply don't, like guacamole, and usually in interesting and tasty combinations. The 6 Dollar Burgers are huge, bursting with toppings, and actually taste like meat rather than salt. Fries here are among the best, especially now that most places are offering 'natural cut' fries exclusively. It helps that they have one of the most aggressive coupon mailing campaigns too. I don't think I've ever actually paid full price for food at CJ. read more

When it comes to fast food hamburgers I like "char" and so Burger King and Carl's rank higher for me than McDonalds or Wendy's. I think I first went to Carl's when they launched the Six Dollar Burger a few years ago and stop by on and off since then. I think their low carb six-dollar burger is excellent and almost healthy (if you at least hold the mayo); my second favorite is the Bacon Guacamole six-dollar burger - their guac actually has a little bit of heat from the jalapeno. On my last visit here they had just launched sweet potato fries and so I tried these - they were excellent and I highly recommend them. Their shakes are very good (I hate to think how many calories they have in them). read more

Preferential treatment! Labor day 8:30 AM. The place was dead. The couple I front of me finished ordering. I was the only other customer. I ordered 6 sausage and Egg biscuits. Three other customers came in well after I ordered. They were served (4 other biscuit sandwiches) before me! The manager recognized one of them. This is a poor way to do business. I am a fan! Not only of the food from this location but of the overall experience. I am in awe of how much the staff took care of me during my recent visit. I came in during my lunch break at work around noon. I was expecting it to be busy since it's the lunch rush and I was fully expecting this. My coworker and I ordered and sat down. He got his food before me and began to eat. A few more people got their food and I hadn't received mine yet. After a few more people got their meals before me, I got up, found my receipt and went to the counter. I asked the cashier and the she talked to the cooks and apologized about the inconvenience. I said it wasn't a big deal and I returned to my seat. A few minutes later the cashier brought my food, and a full refund for the meal! I couldn't believe it. Most places you go will get you the food and that'll be it. I wasn't mad or upset because of this but they went the extra mile to make it up to me. I'm not sure how to rate fast food. I can't exactly give it 5 stars in general, but if I could rate it in relation to other foods, that would be different. I was on my way to Costco seriously thinking about a polish dog when I saw the Carl's sign. I thought that was probably a healthier choice and I wanted to try the new broiled cod sandwich. After getting my jalapeno fix from the salsa bar, they brought the sandwich. The whole wheat bun was kind of squished, the sandwich contained a couple of pieces of iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomato and a mayo based sauce. They advertise that the sandwich contains 420 calories, I'm guessing at least 100 are from the sauce. The fish was tasty but overall the sandwich was lacking something. I put some pico from the salsa bar on it, that helped. If I can think of a different sauce to put on it, I might order the sandwich again but, I really can't. I guess I'll go back to the grilled chicken next time. But overall, the sandwich wasn't bad, just not to my taste. read more
