I went through the drive thru during a slow time and was the only car. Since this was a drive thru visit I can't really speak to the indoor ambiance. I hadn't been to a Carl's Jr. in a long time, so the menu looked different. I ordered the Super Star (now called the Double Famous Star) as a small combo with fries and a Coke. My son ordered the Western Bacon Burger, medium combo, with fries and sweet tea. After paying, we were asked to pull forward and wait by "the little black fence." We received our food shortly after. However, we weren't asked if we needed ketchup or any condiments, which felt odd compared to most fast food places. Once we got home and checked the food, it was disappointing. The burger bun was soggy and wet, the fries looked old, and my Coke tasted extremely watered down I couldn't even drink it. We also noticed there were no straws in the bag. For $35 I expected much better quality and service. I don't see myself returning anytime soon, and if I ever do, I'll be sure to check the order and drinks before leaving, like most people do. read more

I'm not sure why this Carl's Jr. never seems to have business. I've been driving by for years and I hardly see cars going thru, but I can honestly say I don't get it. The service is fast and the food is good, for quick and easy and I leave fairly happy. I drove thru last Friday morning to grab breakfast for the road and my trip was less than 7 minutes long. I ordered a breakfast burrito combo and a western bacon cheeseburger. Both came out so quickly I was surprised to see my entire order in one bag and it was all hot. The burrito did look smaller than I remember, but that's okay. I was happy to see that they serve their lunch menu at any time of the day. Just wanted to put in a good word for this restaurant and, especially, the manager...her name badge says Teresa. I have gone to this location, often, in large part due to the friendly, yet, professional manner of this manager. Although, an older store, it is kept clean and is a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy a meal. The employees are all friendly and efficient. The food has always been fresh, well-cooked, and tasty. If there was ever a problem, I feel like this manager would fix it in a fair way. In my opinion, all of this is a good indication of a well-managed store. I can't say the same for another Elk Grove Carl's location, on Bruceville. I find the manager there almost rude...like she thinks she is too good to work there and deal with customers. For instance, awhile back, I ordered the $8.50 bacon Swiss chicken sandwich. The chicken barely...and I'm being generous...barely covered half of the bun. When I complained and showed her she said, "yeah, sometimes the pieces are smaller, sometimes larger"...(hello...can you say LACK of quality control!!). She didn't offer to fix it, she just kept repeating the same refrain when I reiterated my complaint, several times..."sometimes the pieces are smaller". AND, she delivered her lines with a very haughty attitude!! I haven't been back since and don't plan to. Charging $8.50 for a fast food sandwich is ridiculous, anyway, but when the chicken is half the size of the bun, it's robbery. I didn't write a bad review of the Bruceville store/manager, at the time. I was upset but just let it go. BUT, seeing how the manager at the Elk Grove Blvd store is, it really put it all in perspective. A good manager can make all the difference! I went here for the first time today. Went through the drive through. I ordered 2 4pc nugget meals and two number 18 . When I got to the window I was handed 4 milks . So they got part of my order wrong. Second they gave me only half of my two number 18 meals so I drove off and had to go back through to get the correct food I ordered. The girl at the window was just like here! No apology nothing she just doesn't seem to care about her job at all. She just had her head turned talking to people in the back. I am giving a 5 stars for tonight's drive thru attendant Samuel for his excellent customer service. Samuel was very polite, well mannered I what it is about him but it made me have to write this. I think he deserves appreciation and from what I saw tonight I guarantee the kids gonna go far. I have never been to this Carl's Jr. I come down the street quite often, I have no idea why it's a 2 1/2 star but again this is not a rating for Carl's junior it's a rating for Samuel. I try to stay away from rating any fast food restaurant since they are just that.....fast food. But when service is bad then I'd like others know my opinion. This location is our neighborhood Carl's Jr. and our last experience sucked. This place used to be okay....at least a 3 star but lately service has really tanked. As we waited at the counter to order, the counter person would look at us but never acknowledged our presence.......not even a comment and apology for the wait or to let us know she would be right with us. This is the second time they were short staffed while we were there and indoor service suffered extremely as they tried to pump out orders for the drive thru crowd. Had we been acknowledged, we would've gladly waited but a total cold shoulder put me off so I kept my cold cash in my wallet and we walked out. With so many fast food competition nearby you'd think this place would keep up on their game especially with the multitude of low rating reviews but sadly I think it's getting worse. I doubtfully think we'd come back until I start seeing an upward trend in the reviews. OK, so obviously we never expect much going to a drive-through because they're normally ran by not the brightest teenagers. Today I ordered a chicken salad with extra chicken, they proceeded to tell me they were out of there grilled chicken so I then asked for fried. She said OK and I asked if I can get double the amount on my salad, she said yes and then proceeded to charge me an extra 375. When I got home and looked in the salad, there was no extra chicken just a receipt for being overcharged. I returned and ask them to fix it, The first girl argues me and then goes to get whoever was above her, also incompetent, then she proceeds to argue with me quoting back to me the conversation that was said on the speaker of which she wasn't a part of, I then had to correct her on that as well as she was telling me part of the conversation that never happened out of my mouth and theirs. They gave me a new salad, something doesn't seem right. I wouldn't go here unless you want to deal with children ruining your order and then serving attitude afterwards. I always treat my fast food workers with respect because I know the job can be stressful, but this establishment is just plain untrained rude and quite frankly too incompetent.
