I knew I wanted a luxury automobile as my next car but didn't know if a BMW, Lexus, Audi, or Mercedes would be what I would like the best...as I've never had any before. Carmax allows you to easily check out each type...and drive the ones you're interested in. I came here and met Iliana who showed me a BMW. As she was not really a BMW expert, she had me come back the next day to work with her son, Alex, who also works here. Alex was great. He knows BMWs inside and out. This location has fallen from grace. Five years ago, it was a shining example of quality customer service and overall experience. Now, this place is a joke. The employees are rude, incompetent, lazy, and have no real knowledge of auto service or repairs. I will never purchase another car from Carmax. After purchasing two cars from this place, I truly regret ever doing business with them. If you value your hard earned money, I highly recommend that you run from this place as fast as you can. They upcharge everything, even a basic oil change. They also have a revolving door when it comes to their employees. You'll see new faces every three months, which says a lot about their crooked leadership and management. Again, if you value your money and quality service, stay away from this location. I believe CarMax has been "cleaning house". After reading so many bad reviews I was not going to do business with them. However, I noticed that close to the end of 2016 the reviews improved. I wanted to sell my car with a good result, but even more, I was not ready for the shifty, programmed, fast-talker that dealerships are known for. I registered and got my appointment online and called to verify. I called: 305-746-4200 and spoke to Joshua Burtis. I really lucked out. Joshua is a young man, with excellent communication skills and a willingness to answer questions in a straightforward manner. Just what I wanted. I really think the experience one has depends on the person with whom one is in contact during the process. It seems that the procedures are cut and dry, no need for any old time shifty behavior. I previously went to the location in Davie and had a bad experience with one of their employees treating me like a burden telling me I needed to make up my mind because he had to go home, treating me like a burden. Terrible customer service - We can only assume that Harold's (our sales assistant) cat had died minutes before our arrival. No introduction, hand shake, just a constant fish face from start to end. After our car was appraised, we coincidently glanced at him across the room, which was when he waved for us to come over. He may have been peeking out of his cubicle like a meerkat for 10 minutes waiting for our look and being lazy, we just don't know. After he relayed the appraisal ($500 less than Autobuy just down the road), he quickly said 'final offer' when we asked if it was indeed that, so we made a hasty exit. No handshake, 'thank you for coming' and I had to ask for his card. We found it rather ironic that the word 'sales' was in Harold's job title as he encompassed anything but. Perhaps he's just a frustrated concert pianist. We left on that pretense because the truth that he just didn't give a sh*t was too hard to bear. Don't go to Carmax, go to AUTOBUY where Eric and John will treat you well, explain how they came to their (higher) appraisal and make the transaction much more pleasant read more

I was able to handle the financing approval online and then worked with an excellent salesperson (Greg Roberts) to guide me through the process. I helped me locate the exact car I wanted and have it shipped from Las Vegas to Miami. I eventually added a second car into the mix for consideration and Greg helped me determine which one fit my needs best. Greg and his team were responsive, informative, and professional. CarMax gives you five days to return or exchange your purchase. That astounded me! I wound up switching cars during this return period and feel that what I bought fit my needs best. CarMax offers excellent warranty options on pre-owned cars. That was a major surprise to me and directly contributed to my decision to purchase there. I have bought numerous pre-owned vehicles, but always felt that I was taking a huge risk not knowing what issues could arise. The salesman, Antonio J. Toro, from the Miami Lakes location, explained what Carmax was about. No haggling; you know the car year, mileage, price, average monthly car payments, warranty options and you can test drive the car. This Carmax is HORRIBLE!!!! The sales team pays attention to detail, but their service department and management is a joke. Bring the issue to the "management" attention and expect an even bigger joke. It's a circus! Do yourself a favor and have a full documented diagnosis done on a vehicle BEFORE attempting to drive off. Better yet just scratch this location off altogether because the staff is incompetent. If you insist on this location for personal reasons then be prepared. Unfortunately this location service department makes empty promises, lies, lacks compassion and has no sense of urgency. As someone else stated, YOUR SAFETY IS NOT THEIR CONCERN. They will send you off in a car that could kill you and ensure you with confidence they did their job. Corporate doesn't do anything, but call managers to rectify the situation, so the show continues. I could go into detail, but I rather save myself the time and this store the embarrassment. I never seen a group of people preform so poorly at their #1 goal of CUSTOMER SERVICE. I gave this experience ample opportunity to turn around before deciding this was the worse customer service I've ever had in my life. In April 2017 I purchased a vehicle (BMW X6) for my daughter as she was getting ready to deliver her baby. Almost every month since she has had to take that car for something. I don't live in town and it pains me to see that she has to dragged this poor child around, put in a vehicle that is not as comfortable and worst yet, the issue is not resolved or it's always something else. Disappointed with the honesty of the staff. I spoke to a representative named Ana over the phone about bringing in my vehicle. She explains to me how easy and fair the appraisal process is and that with the information I gave over the phone that the I can expect anywhere from $4700 to $7000. Sounds perfect as I was given a buy now offer through Kelley Blue Book at $4600. I bring my vehicle in the next day and she says she will take care of me and I wait for about 30 minutes. She comes back and gives me an offer for $2000. Immediately taken aback as over the phone I was told that the lowest offer would be 4700. I don't understand why a representative of CarMax would advertise an offer for 4700 at the lowest and then in person not even offer 50% of the offer. I think it's part of their strategy but I would recommend others to save their time and go elsewhere. Maybe another store or maybe another dealership entirely. Dishonest from the start and my confidence in their staff is nonexistent. read more

I sold my car to Carmax in 2015. Apparently the car was sold yet it's still in my name. It's 2017 and now I can't renew my tag for my current vehicle, which I won't receive until Tuesday. This has been going on for months and the issue still hasn't been resolved. Granted they offered to renew my tag as a "courtesy" as the acting Supervisor put it however it's an inconvenience for me and my family. If I get stopped by a Cop for driving with an expired tag with my minor child in the car I hope the Cop is way more understanding than I am. Never again will I do business with Carmax. read more

Nice salesman, not alot of pressure, Their cars are priced Hi but you will get pretty much what you pay for.

First off, the salesman had no knowledge about the car that I was asking about. (Scion FRS or a Subaru BRZ) He had no interest in asking me how to spell it or how it looked like, he just completely disregarded us. He searched the car on the computer and said they didn't have any of them available. As he's telling us this, I look out the window AND SAW ONE IN THE LOT. He said "I think it's sold". We went outside to the lot and it had NO "sold" sticker on it so it clearly wasn't sold. He then proceeded to tell us (rudely) that the payment was going to be too high with NO KNOWLEDGE about our financial status. He just assumed we had no money and poor credit. As we are inspecting the outside of the car, I look up and the sales man is no where to be seen. He walked away. He didn't even say "I'll be right back" or "if you need anything I'll be inside". No. He just walked away. We escorted ourselves out. We had plenty of questions but forget it. Very rude customer service. read more

I have gone to Carmax many times but never posted a review. However, my last visit was incredible. I got an appointment to get a diagnosis/estimate to repair my car, and was assigned in the service Dpt with Andres Zuluaga. This representative was friendly and made me feel at home. After waiting for an estimate, he found out that all the repairs would get covered by the warranty. Also, he assisted me during the process of getting a car from Enterprise while I waited some days for the technician to work on my car. Other representatives of Carmax forget about the client once you leave the car; but I was surprised how Andres worked diligently on my case... He kept me posted on the repair process everyday. Even though he was busy sometimes, he asked a coworker to call me to let me know the progress they have made. VIP experience. Now, I have gone to Carmax more than 8 times, but have never experienced a 5-star service. I think that there's the difference between workers who simply do their job, and those who are really committed and care about excelling in customer service. Oh! Also, I picked up my car today and Andres explained in detail all the repairs they did in my car, he also answered all the questions. I got $2,200 in repairs but everything was covered by the warranty :) If you need to bring your car for service and you're near to the Miami Lakes location, I highly recommend Andres Zuluaga- he will go the extra mile to assist you during the process. read more
