The service here was absolutely amazing! I called Monday, 8/17/2026, hoping to get an appointment for my car service before I had to leave town for a work trip. I was initially told the first available appointment would be in the first week of September, but they worked with me to get me in much sooner. That was such an incredible help! When I arrived for my appointment on 8/20/2026, the staff was phenomenal. I worked with Leslie M., and she was absolutely incredible. She went above and beyond to help me and ease my mind by keeping me updated throughout the entire process. Leslie called me within two hours of dropping my car off to let me know the diagnostic was complete. She explained that they were waiting for my warranty company to approve the claim and that they were already ordering the necessary parts. My biggest concern was how long the parts would take because of my upcoming work trip. Then, around 4:30 p.m., Leslie called me again to let me know the warranty had approved the claim, the parts had arrived, and they had already installed everything! My car was ready for pickup that same day. I was absolutely amazed at how quickly everything was handled. The customer service, technicians, and entire staff were incredible. They worked so efficiently and did an amazing job. I cannot thank Leslie enough for going the extra mile, rushing the process, and keeping me informed every step of the way. And to top it all off, when I left, I realized they had even topped off my car with gas! What an amazing and unexpected blessing. I will absolutely continue bringing my car to this CarMax location. They have an amazing team, and the level of service I received was truly exceptional. Yelp needs to make make negative 5 stars an option. I purchased a vehicle on April 1st 2026. Dumb me did not purchase their Max Care. Third month in, air conditioning isn't working. I take it in to my mechanic for diagnostics and it's a leaking valve. The air and cabin filters are filthy, he said they look like they've never been changed or serviced. Valves, filters, etc are part of CarMax's advertised so called 125 point inspection. You'd think at least the filters would be changed. I've put 2500 miles on the car, there is no way the amount of filth would have accumulated in the time I've had the car. Extremely poor customer service, buyer beware. read more

I came in today after speaking on the phone for three hours with finance, was transferred to several agents and all did not know where the other left at, it took 3 hours fill out a company application. They approve the entire process, I come in and they hard inquired my credit and asked two twice while docking me points due to their discrepancy. We drove from Venice California. They asked to check again and hard knock my credit again to check again, did not offer to amend the mistake that they made while affecting peoples credit scores. The sales man kept walking to talk to his manager his manager hid behind the chair that was visibly behind us. I asked for something in writing to provide to my creditor due to their mistake to dispute and they had nothing to provide. This place is scamming businesses and consumers alike by blaming their international customer service line. To top this off, the notes placed also showed they said they left a VM. When no call or Voicemail was ever provided, I asked to pull the recorded calls and also no recollection on twist behalf. The manager finally comes out and says their is nothing I can do. The lack of customer service is clear, the manager stated,"you got $14,000?" No sense of logic to their own inconvenience to consumers. CAR TRANSMISSION WENT OUT THREE MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE: an absolutely atrocious experience. The transmission for my mother's 2014 Honda Civic, a fantastic car, went out 3 months after purchasing. Because it was past the 30 days that the car was bought and because we did not purchase their MaxCare, we kindly asked the manager Sandy for further assistance because a transmission going out within 3 months of a purchased vehicle, even a used one, is unacceptable. At first Sandy was helpful. We took the car to a partner mechanic so it could be diagnosed. After they confirmed it was a transmission error, Sandy advised CarMax could only cover 50% of the cost. Then, we didn't hear from him. For one week, I consistently called for updates and asked if I can get the 50% offer in writing. Every time I called, i was told the same thing: there is no manager here, or the sitting manager will get back to you. They never did. I shared my frustration with Sandy one week later, as I was disappointed with the lack of communication as well as with CarMax only being able to help with half of the transmission cost. And then, for some reason, he lashed out. Stated "CarMax doesn't have to help you with this even now". Completely unprofessional from someone that is supposed to act like a manager, mind you you I was not speaking to him unkindly. I think he expected me to jump up and down with joy after being ignored for one week and being told I have to pay $2.5K for something that should not have happened to a car that was sold less than 100 days before this failure. My family and friends have heard about this experience. We will not be purchasing from CarMax in the future. Wanted to write a review for future buyers to be weary as well. read more

Great Cars, But Too Busy for a Test Drive We stopped by CarMax in Ontario and were impressed by the selection, especially the luxury models. Staff was friendly, but they seemed short-staffed and too busy to accommodate a test drive at the time. He was welcoming, friendly, and efficient. The inspection process was quick, and I had my final offer (which matched the online offer price) in about 20 minutes. I then met with CHRISTOPHER who handled the final paperwork. He, too, was professional and friendly. We completed the process in about 15 minutes, and I had my check deposited upon receipt via my banking app. I spent less than an hour at Carmax, which was fantastic. The experience was super smooth. I'm filing a formal complaint about my visit about a week ago for a vehicle inspection. After the inspection, parts of my car were not properly reassembled. When I returned, the manager denied his staff touched anything, accused me of lying, and told me to contact my insurance even though this issue was caused by your shop. One of the device in my car was stolen and I had to insist for the parts to be reassembled. Still did not received any apologies. The manager Frank should be avoid because he will take advantage of women. This place is trash. read more

So I am shocked that the transaction went as well as it did. Buying and selling cars is always a challenge. I tried selling our truck on my own and what a fiasco that is. The cons come out of the woodworks and it is so scary to do so. So we decided to sell our new truck [about a year old] back to CarMax and then buy the car we wanted; a hybrid. We got an online proposal and a check in time. We arrived and as we walk in we see our name on the appointment list. They send us over to a check in counter who quickly let's us know we are moving onto the next phase, which is to have the car inspected. After about an hour wait, we are told the inspection came in and we are getting a $1k over our quote. It did have step bars and a bed liner installed and I must say my daughter had that car so clean [damn girl would never let me take it out]. Finally Daisy sat down with us to confirm we wanted to sell the car and we finalize the process. She was awesome but even then it took another hour. The entire process took over two hours and that's with a prelim price and appointment which they say saved time. But overall, we are very satisfied with the whole group. read more

Unprofessional customer service with Frank/Frankie-(past middle age, silver hair, hispanic man.) As soon as he walked up to me i could tell by his entire demeanor i was not going to get help. What could have been a quick professional experience turned into a disrespectful battle. Frank let me know it would be at least an hour for inspection, so i took a walk. it wasn't 10 minutes later Frank called. with an attitude, he said he had been trying to reach me and left a voice mail. I asked him what's going on... Frank was short with me- "We have to see your VIN in 3 places, the third place is covered by a piece of rubber, we can't give you a quote, this is company policy, come pick up your key, we can't help you." I let him know i went for a walk and could be back in 10 min. Frank huffed and puffed and said you're not even here uuhh!? Come back to my desk and get your key. I came back and asked if this was an issue because im a woman alone, i wanted to know why im being turned away so easily, with no willingness to help make a solution. i asked if i needed my husband to come down to help, and asked for a manager. Guess what they moved the rubber and gave me a quote. i shouldn't have to get nasty and threaten the company of a man to do something that should be simple. I was still unwelcome by Frank after this. He came outside shoved the paper quote at me, told me it was nonnegotiable, turned his back to me, and walked back inside. The Carmax quote was $6800.... I traded the car for $8000 at a dealer. I put my transfer request on Saturday at 6:37pm. It was for a vehicle from the Palmdale carmax to the Ontario carmax. Yesterday I got an email that the car was finally shipped at 4:34pm. We were tracking the progress on the emails and the texts. Today at 6:39 am I got an email saying it was going through its final quality check and that they would reach out to schedule an appointment as soon as it was ready. At 12:31 today we got a call saying the car is ready for a test drive. I told them if it goes well I'm looking to buy. The guy said it was all set see you today at 4 pm in Ontario. On the way there I couldn't see the vehicle on my account under appointment. I thought it was odd. We got there but the car was sold. Somebody bought the car at the same time while we confirmed the appointment! If you go here, make sure they don't sell the car to somebody else. The first time they sold me a faulty car and they did a buyback. Now the second time this. I recommend you take your money elsewhere. Meet Shredder.... I love my mustangs, 2nd one I've bought and I've loved my 2020 ecoboost so far. Worked with the team here last month, put the mustang on hold via the CarMax app & it stayed on hold for the exact date and time I said I could come in and see it. Day of appt & seeing the car, I went across the street to my bank, got my cashier check & came right back with everything I needed for them to sell me the car. I worked directly with "Ali" he was pleasant the entire time & worked as quickly as possible to ensure I was good to go to get my car same day & off the lot. As many others have mentioned they do take a while to sit with you and print all their paperwork... but we're buying a car here so of course there is going to be a wait, they also are always busy here & all their workers were doing something & none just sitting around so that was nice to see. I was seen right away and treated respectfully despite having to wait as they had to make a paperwork adjustment. I got the 5 year, 100K mile warranty on the vehicle too & I've actually had to use it once already (wasn't for anything crazy) and CarMax has done their part, the auto start on the car was acting up but they got it in and out same day, never was charged anything.... What a choice: friendly fake-smiling salespeople who BS you or rude salespeople who patronize you. I've been shopping for a car for a bit now and Carmax Ontario was atrocious. Never stepping foot in a carmax again. I'd made an advance test drive appointment to save time on seeing a car I wanted to check out and followed exactly what the representative on the phone told to do on arrival. Bought a 2016 Volvo and have had major engine issues that have me utilizing my extended warranty. Carmax denied me service and said 'go to Volvo in Ontario' they can handle their repairs. I wanted to see what I could get for my Hyundai Tucson. After sitting with the lady for about half an hour, she brushed me off and sent this other guy that low balled me on the price. He says we don't call it low balling... we call it fair market value. Call it what you want to... but it's a low ball price... and certainly not Kelly Blue book fair market value prices as you put it. I wanted to talk to him about the price and see what process I would go through. But he brushed me off and said that a lady was waiting. Well, she can wait too... like I waited.
