Just purchase a car from the Ontario Carmax location yesterday afternoon and I have to say the service I received was definitely FIVE STAR worthy! Spencer was the gentleman that helped me out for the duration of my visit and I have nothing but GREAT things to say about his customer service. He texted me about an hour before my scheduled appointment and let me know to text him when I arrived. I did end up going over earlier than my appointment and let him know ahead of time. He was very kind and let me know he'd be ready for when I arrived. I sent him a text when my family and I got to Carmax and, true to his word, he was waiting for us at the front desk. He was very friendly and guided us over to his desk so we could go over my purchase. Not once did he pressure me to move forward with the purchase of the car or the maxcare warranty that carmax offers but he really made me feel like he had my best interest in mind. And since I was purchasing a higher line car he made sure to explain how their warranty is best suited for the type of car I was interested in. I did end up going forward with getting the warranty. Once I requested to do the test drive he was very quick to get everything in order so my family and I could ensure that this was the right car that I was searching for. He let me bring my dad with me to go for the test drive and, again, put no pressure on trying to be a pushy sales man with the vehicle. I took the car for a short drive around the area but almost instantly knew it was right for me. When we arrived back I let Spencer know I did want to move forward with the purchase. From there everything was smooth sailing with getting the car ready while I handled doing the down payment and going over all of the documents needed to complete the transaction. Shari was the one to go over all the documents with me. I appreciate how thorough she was with explaining in detail what each document was that I was signing. There's so many papers and words it's easy to get lost in it all but she was great with telling me what exactly I was staring at with each paper that passed! Once the documents were signed the car was ready for me to bring home! Definitely a VERY happy and satisfied customer. I just purchased a cute slightly used Mazda at this Carmax location and had a great experience. This is my first used car purchase, but have leased new cars 4 other times. This experience is nothing like buying a new car, the price you see, minus taxes and extended warranty if you'd like, is the price you pay and that's refreshing AF! They never sell vehicles that have been in major accidents but they share a comprehensive report on who has owned the vehicle and how it's been used, which I appreciate. Our salesperson was Sayed, very honest and open about every vehicle we were interested in, I will absolutely recommend all my friends and family to go to Carmax and go to Sayed when possible. Now some background- I purchased my leased 2019 Honda civic about a year ago, paid it off in full. I was looking for a more spacious car as we are looking to extend our family. I first took my Honda to a Honda dealership who had previously shown interest in buying my car bc of the low miles (less than 40k). These crooks offered me NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS, which I yelled/repeated when the sales man came back to share. I was PISSED. I felt like I had made the dumbest purchase ever. My husband suggested we check out Carmax. YALLLLLL!! They offered us SEVENTEEN THOUSAND!!! My jaw dropped, I couldn't believe it. Lesson here is: NEVER EVER EVER SELL YOUR CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, take it to Carmax!!! I was able to pay off my Mazda in full, no payments. Note- they do not let you pay with a credit card (I say this bc I wanted to use my credit card to get the miles but alas lol I could only use the credit card to pay for the extended warranty). The warranty we got is for 6 years or 125,000 miles, which is awesome and worth it. The whole thing took about 4 hours but it was worth it. I will forever praise Carmax for being the most honest dealership out there, THANK YOU! And thank you Sayed for your honesty and guidance, I'm absolutely content with the whole experience! There was no pressure in making the purchase, no hidden fees, just up front business, the way I like it. I purchased a 2016 GMC Acadia Denali. I was very happy with the purchase in the beginning but currently I am without this vehicle because of poor inspection that was performed on this vehicle before being sold to customers. I brought my vehicle back to CarMax about a week later after my purchase because I was experiencing shaky steering wheel. I thought it was just an alignment problem. Turns out my vehicle has dents in 3 rims out of the 4. This vehicle was unsafe to drive out of the lot to begin with. After a week driving with my family. CarMax has my vehicle now because they are unable to found the rims I purchased with the vehicle. CarMax suggested I replace them with the stock rims, which are completely different from the rims I purchased. These stock rims are size 16 inches and the rims I purchased are 20 inch rims. I will not accept these rims and be down graded because it's an easy quick and cheaper replacement for them. I am unhappy with my first experience with CarMax and it may be my last. I recently sold my 2022 Ford Explorer to them and I left my Gucci sunglasses inside the case on the backseat. I left them there before they inspected the vehicle since I was wearing them. The vehicle was sent to the back for inspection and I never saw the vehicle again since they gave me a good offer and I accepted. I didn't think of my sunglasses until the next day. I reached out to Carmax and they told me they would go check on the vehicle and try to find my sunglasses. The gentleman that helped me return return my call and said the vehicle has been cleaned up and everything inside of it was thrown away. I asked about their lost and found policy and they said that there wasn't that their policy was to throw everything away. These are a $500 pair of sunglasses. I'm sure these glasses weren't thrown away. My experience was good until I realize that Carmax has some employees with major integrity issues. I also work at a dealership and we are not as big as Carmax, but I guarantee our employees where is the integrity and reputation of our dealership for a pair of sunglasses. read more

I Bought a ford 3 months ago and the first week after having it it's been problems after problem. Back up camera broke, check engine light for Evap system, AC, coolant leaking, car overheating for 2nd time! Coolant tank was already replaced once and now needs to be towed to carmax to hopefully fix right this time. No one in service department ever answers the phone!! Look people if I could go back in time I would have never bought this car. I bought a 2015 mini Cooper with 35,000 miles and it has so many problems from when I bought it a year ago today. All I got to say is that the extended warranty isn't worth it because it's not 75,000 miles from where your car miles are it's until your car hits 75,000 miles so I am only covered for 40,000 miles. But you can see a lot of other people thought it was 75,000 total miles that we get to use.. secondly the 120 point inspection that they claim they do another shop said they are pretty sure Carmax did a H job or didn't do one at all. The car was sold to me with chips in the windshield and you can see it in the picture. The car also needed shifter assembly, fully set of spark plugs, new fuel injectors, fuel evap valve, struts, drive axle, timing case cover, both rear tail lights, control arms, top and bottom engine mounts, a REAR VIEW MIRROR AFTER IT WENT LIMP ON MY DRIVE HOME AFTER BUYING IT. And most of these repairs were done within its first 90 days for the warranty period. AND ALSO THE CAR WAS LEAKING WATER FROM ITS SEALS, SO I WAS GETTING LITERAL PUDDLES IN MY TRUNK. And my final point to this RIPOFF of a place. I TOLD THEM THE AC WAS MAKING NOISES SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY SAID "IT DOES THAT, NO FUNCTIONALITY IS LOSSED", BUT MINI COOPER SAID ITS THE FILTER MAKING THE NOISE... so I sold a car with bad Filters. I asked the service manager too if he could buy back the car while I was still under the 90 day warranty, but his response was "we keep fixing this car for you with nothing out of your pocket...! So now I'm left with a POS CAR that has non stop problems because they never really did any type of inspection I'm pretty sure. read more

I bought a car in October 2023. First, i was rushed to get out of there. the Manager just wanted to get my money and get me out, I had to ask to see the car and test drive it since I bought it online. I had to ask him to get the car charger for the car since it was a Hybrid, and had to be charged and there wasn't one in the vehicle. After I got it home I realized that the front tires were cracking and pieces of the tread were chipping off. I looked at the Lot number and the tires were almost 4 years old. I took it back to the service department were the tech inspected it and said the prior owner must have been driving in gravel a lot or parking on it. I knew that wasn't it and had the store manager come out and inspect it. I asked if they would be comfortable driving this car and he said, "the tread is a little higher than state requires so yes" The tires were nearly bald yet they refused to replace them. I asked it there is anything else like let me buy them at cost, he agreed. so I was aloud to buy tires there for $475. I also brought up the fact that there was pieces of glass behind the seat, which looked to be from the back window which was broken out. He replied, well we don't have to disclose items that were fixed, and maybe they just missed cleaning out all the glass. This place is garbage, they don't care about the customer at all,, just want to sell you a car and get you off the lot as soon as possible. No customer service, If it wasn't for me being persistent and knowing how a tire should or shouldn't look, I'm sure those tires were going to fail sooner than later. I feel once they found out I was Law Enforcement their attitude changed as well. They seemed to be like a lot of the public who do not like Law Enforcement and treated me worse than any other customer. Bought a car at the end of 2019. A week after I drove it off the lot it started making a weird jolting motion/sound. I bought their extended warranty and over the course of the next 3 years I continuously took the car into their authorized mechanics (using their "repairpal") and no one was ever able to find out what the issue is (but charged me for the "repairs" they made). Now in 2023 my car finally gave a code for the issue (it's the transmission) but now the extended warranty is nearly depleted because of all the mechanics that charged me for misc bs while attempting to "fix" my issue. And on top of that the part needed is extremely hard to get. Could take up to a year. So I tried talking to the general manager to see what can be done since I literally bought the pos car with this issue l, and he outright refused to take my call and the office was incredibly rude about it. The extended warranty is even worse than carmax itself. Long story short. Go somewhere else to get a car. read more

The gentleman told us that they had gone ahead and helped another customer and that it would be another 15 or 20 minutes before they could get to us. After walking around and becoming frustrated after 40 minutes, we decided to leave. They don't take appointments seriously and it is not worth taking your time to make an appointment. Do not come on weekends if you want any quality customer service. We were not impressed with this place and wouldn't trust buying a car from here. They tried to resolve our issue with a door sensor over 2 different visits lasting over 5hours plus. Still no resolution and they just forget about you. They don't care. After literally hours of back and fourth phone calls saying it's third party, it's third party, they won't even repay me for the service fees I paid and pay still when they didn't fix anything. I bought a car about a month ago and I had to take it in to get checked out on a Thursday since it had a few problems. Ruby told us that it'll be done no later than 5pm. It was after 5 and no updates were given to us so we decided to call, well it turns out ruby left early and they were going to send it out to get fixed Friday or Monday and we were not informed and should at least been notified so we can ask for a loaner.
