We got some pretty Basic meals for takeout a baked ziti and some spaghetti and meatballs, sauce was burnt , portions were small, we expected more since the re-opening. Probably wouldn't go back, there's better restaurants near by for a comparable price. read more

With a lack of good Italian restaurants in our area, we've ordered takeout 4 times now with the hope that it would improve. Unfortunately, each time has been as poor as the last. It seems like they put very little care into how they cook their food, or how they pack their takeout. While it's bad enough that their red sauce is usually watery, the last 3 times they've handed us a takeout bag filled at the bottom with sauce. They also place garlic bread on the top of the containers, which leaves everything covered garlic grease. Bland food and poor presentation is what we've come to expect. read more

My wife, my brother and sister in law and myself visited Carmela's last Saturday for the first time and I can't say enough about this restaurant! We had reservations and we were seated on time by a very personable host. Our waitress was pleasant, funny and efficient and the food was outstanding! We started with focaccia bread that was hot with the just the right amount of crunch. I had Chicken Marsala, my wife had Chicken Saltimbocca, my brother in law had the Steak Tips and my sister in law had the Veal Saltimbocca. Everyone raved about their meals. The Chicken Marsala was one of the best I've ever eaten! We had Tiramasu for dessert and it was light and creamy. As I said this was our first visit, but it won't be our last! read more

Amazing! We went with a large party on a Weds. evening. I had one of the best pieces of Haddock along with delicious mashed potatoes and fresh broccoli. I also sampled the best lasagna I've ever had anywhere here. The waiter who was busy, had a lot of personality and engaged with some friendly banter making the whole evening even more memorable. We are from out of town but we're told how great this place was for food. Our waitress was rude and gave all of us adults an unsettled feeling for how cold she was. I think the warmest she became was when the check came. However my overall rating is due to the fact the food was much better than the service. My only food complaint is that my cheese manicotti was smothered on top the same way as another person's lasagna at our table. Well, I happen to get the lasagna placed in front of me by the waitress and was talking before digging to find out my dish was wrong and my friend had devoured my manicotti thinking it was a meatless lasagna. I never said anything to the waitress cause I didn't think she'd care and I left disappointed with the lasagna. I feel if the waitress was nicer then I might feel like she'd help to remedy the mix up, but unfortunately that wasn't in the cards we were dealt. read more

Went into Carmela's around 9:30 pm for a quick late night dinner after a day in Boston, the staff was extremely friendly and allowed us to dine even though they closed at 10 pm. Food is fresh and delicious even at such late hours. They stayed open 30 minutes later for our group of 5. They are very flexible in their size of entrees thus prices. If I am ever by Plymouth again we will definitely stop by. Thanks to the staff for being so nice and staying open for us!!!! read more

Live down the street but this is the first time we checked Carmela's out. The first thing we noticed when we went in the door was that it smelled funny...kind of like old people. If you can get past that, the food was great, service was quick and friendly, and the prices were decent (buy one get one entree half off on Monday's!!). read more

Visited Carmelas this evening, and was VERY disappointed...dining with three friends, ordered SEARED tuna from the specials on menu..what I was served was well done tuna..when manager asked how everything was, I brought the very overcooked tuna to her attention, the menus did specify SEARED tuna served on spinach with blue chees dressing..she did not return my plate to the kitchen, but 10-15 minutes , the time it took to overcook tuna a second time.. she returned with tuna barely pink in the middle...It is my experience that tuna should be seared and served rare in the middle, I also pointed out that the salad was served with no dressing...she again apologized and asked if I wanted anything else...I explained that since the other members of our party were half done eating and that I did not want to try for a third time....She, the manager said she would remove my dinner from the bill....I was charged for my martini..and an apology...sent home with a martina and a piece of bread for dinner, no charge for the bread. I did tell her that I was disappointed that I would be leaving with out having eaten a meal and that the chef did not come to the table...She said he was too busy.. Is Carmelas under new management?...Something has happened to the friendly, restaurant with good food and service....I will not be back, nor will my friends, and anyone else who I tell of my miserable experience....Please rethink dining at Carmela.... I've lived on the South Shore all my life. I've never actually eaten at Carmela's before but I went to a bridal shower there today. Now I know why I've never eaten here before. We had a choice of 4 dishes. I chose to order the baked ziti. It was horrible! Our table ordered a round of Mimosa's (Cost $9.00 each) Ridiculous! When I tried to pay for 2 drinks, the waitress took it upon herself to give herself a $2.00 tip. (Paid with a $20.00 and didn't receive any change) I would have given a tip anyway but it just rubbed me the wrong way that she wasn't about to give any change. My advice is if you want Italian food, go to Mamma Mia's Pizza (two doors down) it's cheaper and the food is good! Will NOT be going back to Carmela's again! read more

We eat here often, have expreienced this problem before- what appear to be fruit flys were back again. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she said that they sprayed last night. It was most unpleasant and no apology was offered. Granted she was young, so had no finess in dealing with the public. Too bad, it will be a long time before we come back.
