One of a few consistently good, old style Italian restaurants in west Vancouver. It's not hip and the entree menu doesn't change very often but neither of those are necessarily a bad thing. There are daily special features which give the adventurous diner something to try out. The appetizer selection has changed in the last few years, some favourites have been reimagined but the margarita pizza is perfect for sharing before the main course. Veal piccata, risotto with fungi and spaghetti bolognese are all solid choices. Key lime pie is very good. They are alway friendly and accommodating and service is consistently good. This isn't checkered tablecloths and candles in old wine bottles. It's an upscale setting with traditional Italian food. Give it a try!

Definitely a spot for an older audience. There were very few young people. It was also super full from reservations and only let in around 3 walk-in groups right when the doors opened at 5:30. The service was good and the food tasted great. The pasta dish was a little more oily than I would like but otherwise delicious.

Do not order their "Margherita" pizza. This is a local fave of ours and we are always pleased with the delicious antipasto platter, pasta and pizza. Tonight we decided to try their Margherita pizza. Wow, total disappointment. Besides the pizza being cold, there was barely any sauce, the cheese was dry... and there was no fresh basil. No. Fresh. Herbs... period. Rest of our table seemed to enjoy the rest of the food. But I don't think I'll ever get over the cold, crusty pizza. Blech.

This is probably my favorite Italian restaurant in van! The pesto creme pasta and the staff are both amazing!

And two weeks after i went to buy it again it was for $16.5!!!!!!!! It is a fruit purée that they import from Iran and just pack it in their own bags with their logos.I didn't buy it and told the seller that it is not fair, just in two weeks you almost doubled the price!!!! She was just an employee so she didn't know what to say and said it is because of the sanctions Iran is facing now,but It is not true. The sanction is affecting the goods's price in Iran because of the DOLLAR value which is stable for us. Anyway I bought the same brand from another Persian super market(same amount) $5.5. I will not recommend this shop and i will not buy anything from them anymore. I am truly sad that the people who were disappointed about the unfairness in Iran is doing the same here. Hope they can reflect on their way.

They just don't. I have lived in Vancouver 30+ years and have probably gone through a dozen different Iranian markets. This is between North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Downtown Vancouver, Coquitlam and Port Moody. I live Downtown and every time I will make the trip to Mitra's Market to pick up what I'm looking for. With that said, Persian Sangak Bread happens to be my favourite type of bread....of all breads. This cute little grocery store is the one I count on for freshness. You'd be surprised how many other Middle Eastern Markets have expired products that smell and taste....well....old and nasty. I mean especially if it's as easy as just checking the label before placing it on the shelf. Yup. No, some just can't be bothered. The truth is.... The owner at Mitra's pays attention to detail, is committed to quality and upholds product expiration standards and dates, and I've experienced this for many years. So what do you get? You get superior products to the competition. I'm extremely picky when it comes to quality of any kind. This is the only place I consider when looking for Middle Eastern/Mediterranean foods.

Special shout-out to the heavenly cheese selection and the cute and clean premises. They also have an Italian pork jowl that I can't find anywhere else in town. We got a LOT of stuff there, including crackers, pate, cheeses, jams, and a bunch of other items, all of which sort of flatlined. Now, in McLean's defense, the pate and cheeses were the only things they brought in specifically under their name. And the place was EXTREMELY cute, and they served sandwiches, and the owner was friendly and on premesis, and they'd let you bring wine if you wanted... ...but really, everything flatlined. The fig crackers tasted like prunes. The sheep's brie was overly strong in flavor, almost off-tasting. The porter cheddar tasted like...plain cheddar. The pate was bland. One standout was a cheese (I forget the name) which had a line of gorgonzola down the centre. Really, of everything we bought, this is the only thing I'd consider re-purchasing. Now I don't want to rule this place out based on one trip, but it *was* expensive (some of the crackers and jams were way over-priced) and I *was* disappointed, considering how it's touted around town as being wonderful. I like to support local businesses, so I will be back to purchase a significantly smaller portion of cheese. Till then...

On my first visit, I wasn't sure what the Zaku Zaku cream puff was, so the staff kindly let me try a sample. I was sold immediately. It was such a familiar taste, and I hadn't been able to find it again until now. I'm so happy I found it here. It's been a few years since the last time we had a non ice cream cake for her birthday. I had fun researching online where to buy her Tiramisu cake from. Looked at sizes, shapes, prices....etc. Finally settled on this Tiramisu cake from Patisserie Le Pont. Awesome choice! Very very happy with this Tiramisu cake. The coffee flavor was very strong and the sweetness level was nicely balanced. A lot of other places made their Tiramisu cakes very fancy looking. This one had the more simple, traditional look which I preferred. It also made it easier to slice and share. The one thing that could have been better...there was so much coffee in this Tiramisu that it seemed to somehow spill out of the cake and onto the cake board. This made things a bit messy. I had to search for a platter in the kitchen that would be big enough to hold the cake on the cake board as the board was too messy for us to lay it straight onto the table. Love that it was loaded with coffee, but it was possibly a bit too much or else some new method needs to be found for keeping the coffee from spilling out and making things messy. Highly highly recommend this Tiramisu cake. It was sooooo good!
