An experience you do NOT want to miss The food here is absolutely amazing ! The chef makes everything fresh and homemade ! The lasagna is my ABSOLUTE favorite. The servers are amazing. They are very quick and are very welcoming ! The resturaunt itself is small but it has always been fully packed whenever we go. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are right in Italy. You should always call ahead of time for a reservation due to it gets very busy and there might not be anything available . Read my previous reviews and ask yourself why you haven't tried Cippolina's yet, or haven't been back recently. Hidden gem? YES! Quaint surroundings? YES!!! Personalized friendly service? YES!!!! CONSISTENTLY AMAZING FOOD? YES, YES, YES!!!!! And all of this with VERY, VERY REASONABLE PRICES? Surprisingly YES!!!!!! It amazes me that this restaurant isn't packed on weeknights like on the weekends. Although a bit off the beaten path, well worth the drive to Akron. A hidden treasure. The chef is excellent, Jerry makes sure you have a high quality hot meal. He will often visit the Dining room to check in with guests and many of the dishes are homemade. In the past I have attended many of his cooking classes and all were excellent. I still make many of the recipes I learned and love them. The chicken parm and lasagna are excellent, but the fume is my favorite. The Milanese is also good. You can't go wrong with anything that their red sauce is on- it's the best. The service is excellent, Lani knows how to really take care of her guests. Very personable and takes care of your every need. Has great recommendations for the day. I would definitely try the deserts so save a little room and take some of your meal home because they are delicious. The boudino, cheesecake and tiramisu are delicious. The dining area is small but quaint. It's a good idea to call for a reservation but they can usually squeeze a walk-in or two in as well. read more

Wow - a true gem of a restaurant nestled in beautiful Akron. We tried take out of the chicken Parmesan with spaghetti, tortellini with peas and prosciutto and the burrata - all were absolutely amazing. Great flavors on all 3 dishes and everything was cooked perfectly. I liked the sauce that came with the burrata - I believe it was egg plant, capers and olives in oil - perfect to dip bread in! We will 100% be coming back...and I will order my toddler her own spaghetti since she ate most of mine! Lol read more

Made reservations for nine people to celebrate my mom's 82nd birthday a month in advance. We had been there last year and she enjoyed it and when we looked at their website they were going to be closed for 10 days md January so we called on January 3 for February 1. We arrived to be greeted at the door like we had three heads. They did not have our reservation and couldn't accommodate us. Very disappointed. We will not return. Maybe they should reevaluate their reservation system. We ended up celebrating an 82nd birthday with pizza! read more

While I've never heard of this restaurant in Akron NY, when my in-laws decided to eat out in their first restaurant in over a year, they selected this quiet place with amazing food because of their past experience. They reported a much smaller menu than in pre-Covid times, but the quality of the food and friendly service still delivered a great experience. Our waiter for the evening quickly apologized for the delay in greeting us and taking drink orders (wine and beer only, no liquor available), and continued his courteous service the entire evening. We started with the burrata with a delicious eggplant accompaniment. Only complaint is burrata wasn't as "melty" as many I have had from other restaurants. Bread served was crusty and fresh. Although one member of our party was delayed 30 minutes past our arrival, our steady waiter wasn't bothered, took the table's order and had the food delivered hot after the last guest arrived and had his drink delivered. Great timing!! Everything here is homemade and really delicious!! Loved my arugula covered chicken Milanese and the guys raved about the lasagna and especially the sauce that generously covered it. Loved this night out with Covid requirements being met throughout. The 3 person waitstaff were clearly busy but the patrons were well cared for. read more

Another delicious meal there five days ago. We went with two other couples and one single so seven in total. Everyone loved it. My wife and I shared a burrata app. I had the Garganelli pasta (the same dish I had in prior review reviews but with a different name now). Just delicious. And my wife had chicken Milanese which she's had before. Other entrée choices were spaghetti cacio e pepe and spaghetti with meatballs. The dessert selection and quality were simply spectacular. Seven of us had six different desserts (one duplicate) including something called boudino, a cannoli, a tiramisu, two kinds of cheesecake, and gelato. Finally, our server, Hunter, was one of the best servers I have ever had. Just the right degree of involvement, assistance, friendliness and personality. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

Went to Cipollina for Local Restaurant Week and had a fabulous time with my group of friends. The service was outstanding. The waitress was so sweet and helpful, and the chef (Jerry) came out to our table not once but TWICE to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The food - also amazing. You get bread to start, and then I had one of their big ricotta stuffed mozzarella balls topped with pesto and the works. The mozzarella and ricotta are made fresh in house and you can really taste the difference. For my meal, I had the Chicken Caprese. I really loved the small circular pesto noodles on the side instead of just traditional spaghetti with sauce, and the piece of chicken was huge and full of flavor. For dessert I tried their homemade cheesecake and it was just delectable, served with a side of whipped cream. I'd just like to point out that I am very hard to please when it comes to Italian food seeing as my mother is 100% Italian herself. This place was authentic Italian, right down to the oil and vinegar salad dressing (in Italy, that's really all there is!). This place does it right. Cipollina is a true hidden gem of WNY. From the moment that you walk in, you are greated by a crew of wonderful staff members, who greet you with love and care. Then, the intimate environment is just as equally warm. The chef is superb as the menu is not something that you will see everywhere. Rather, it is made from the heart, with fresh ingredients and can be cooked to your specifications. Our server, Lani, was outstanding. She made sure that our table was ready when we arrived and was extremely courteous throughout the meal. She offered recommendations when asked and made sure that we felt welcomed. It was our first time there and we can truly cannot wait to go back because our overall experience was out of this world. If you are planning to be in Akron, I highly recommend making a reservation and enjoying a wonderful dinning experience. I visited Cipollina for the first time during Local Restaurant Week and I will DEFINITELY be back. The food was amazing and the staff was exceptional. Our waitress was attentive and was extremely accommodating with all the allergens in the group. There was bread to start with along with oil, vinegar and herbs. I had the Burrata for an appetizer off of the recommendation of our waitress. This was hand-made by the chef, Jerry, who came out to check on us after each course. It was a lot bigger than I expected and was topped with tomato jam and a basil pesto. This Burrata was so good, I literally had a dream about it that night. I will be back specifically for this dish. For my main course, I had the Lobster Cannelloni which was so incredibly fresh tasting and again, Chef Jerry came out to speak with us afterward. As full as I was, I decided to get the cannoli, which was filled with housemade ricotta and topped with pistachios. Another amazing dish from Cipollina. We've heard great things about this place and figured restaurant week was a perfect time to check it out. The entrance is misleading... it looks like you're going into a take out sandwich shop, but just walk in and the restaurant is to the back, to the Left. We both ordered the restaurant week special which was an appetizer and entree for $20.18. They only have beer and wine, we both ordered a drink as well. We shared the appetizers, chicken Marsala meatballs and burrata. The burrata was amazing and house-made. Two, golf ball size, meatballs came with the appetizer. It was something different and very good. The complimentary house bread was great, crunchy outside and soft inside, it went great with both appetizers. I ordered the lobster cannelloni and my boyfriend had the chicken Parmesan. Both entrees came out hot and everything tasted very fresh. The lobster cannelloni's presentation was lacking but made up for it in flavor. We will definitely be back! read more

Came in for restaurant week as it's close to our house. First time here and we loved it! I started with the beet special appetizer which was good. For my 1st course I had the Mostaccioli Fume. It was amazing so much flavor! Then secondly, I went with the braciole which was only available as a special for restaurant week. Very reasonable prices, cute dining room, very clean. We had awesome service from Melissa. Only complaint and a very small compliant it was a tad chilly so bring a sweater just in case. Loved that the chef came out to see how we were doing! read more

It's a small place with about 10 tables. Be sure to make a reservation. Nice atmosphere and very good service but nothing to write home about. The wine selection is limited but good. The salad is average. Bread is homemade but very small and dry. Had the lasagna that was a large portion but undercooked so much of the pasta was still stiff. The sauce was nothing out of the ordinary. The meatballs were a good size but just tasted like the ground beef they are made of. Had tiramisu for desert that was very good. We were visiting from out of town and looking for a quiet restaurant to enjoy some time together after a funeral. We picked the right place! The staff was exceptional, coming to check on us from the kitchen and inquire as to how our gluten-free dishes tasted. We had the Burrata app. to start and you could tell how incredibly fresh it was. They even found some delicious gluten-free bread for me and my dad! We were a bit disappointed they only had gluten-free penne pasta, and were out of 3 of the best entrees on the menu that we were looking forward to trying. The red sauce was nice and sweet but I could have used some basil or oregano to pep it up. However, the most amazing part of the night had to be the cannoli we got to go for dessert. Oh my goodness, the filling was so rich and delicious, I want to freeze it and eat it like ice cream. Probably the best I've ever had!
