They randomly closed due to point of sale and credit card machine being down. They did NOT notify my boyfriend's mother who made our reservation. I was apprehensive even going after reading all the recent bad reviews. We met up at the closed restaurant and regrouped to have a delicious dinner down the road. After that my boyfriend's mother received a text her reservation was cancelled...and another today asking if she'd like to reschedule. Staff from what I saw has changed, menu options seem to be the same I got something I have never gotten so it was hard to tell if anything changed really. We will be back I'm sure! This place is a total ripoff! It's pretty sad when the best part about our meal was the warm bread and pesto olive oil for dipping. Portions are large but, $29 for pasta and sauce, add what they call chicken, another $11. I can't totally describe the texture of the chicken, but card board is pretty close. My wife ordered eggplant parm and it was more like breading, sauce, cheese and maybe some eggplant in there somewhere. I made a reservation for 4 people for this past Friday well over 6 weeks ago. 2 hours before the reservation, the restaurant called to cancel the reservation, stating they were "short staffed". I used to love Orazio's but yesterday was a disaster. We show up for a reservation to have a nice dinner date with my wife and discovered there was one cook and one server/host. The host made numerous apologies for the slow service, but proceeded to get everything wrong. No bar? No drinks? No coffee? Water it is. We made several acknowledgements that we understood, but the experience began to sour quickly. There were only 3 tables and the wait was extensive. But still we were ok. The appetizers came and they were decent. But when the entrees came, my wife's order was wrong. We also never received the soup or salad that comes with the meal, which was very frustrating. We were a party of nine, and there were possibly two people that had acceptable meals. Spoke with a woman who explained they don't take reservations for only 2 people, but since I was coming around 5 pm on Friday (Jan. 17th) there shouldn't be a problem in seating. Just a follow up about the horrible experience at Orazios on Christmas Eve. There was one car in the in the parking lot when we arrived at 4pm. The owner says that was his car and he was in the kitchen preparing meals and did not hear us at the door. He was going to serve 20 people drinks and dinner by himself. This man is nothing but a liar. He wasn't upset that he was preparing meals for 20 people who had just left this disgusting place. So definitely he lied about that. Do not patronize this place. We brought 7 people there today for Easter Brunch. I looked up the Orazios website weeks ago to see brunch for adults 29.95. We called and made a reservation. We got there today and they did not have our reservation and put us out in the front of the restaurant--a far walk from the food. Then the bill came and it was over $400. We asked about the mistake and were told the brunch was $ 55.00per person. We told them we saw it on the website. We had a picture of it to show the waitress. We were told that that was from last year and that they should have updated the website. That was the restaurant's Issue. They should have updated the website and whoever took our reservation should have recorded it properly. They would not help us out at all or adjust the price. We will never go to Orazios again. Home-cooked from scratch Italian cuisine. The chef and owner Frank is doing a great job. The food is delicious. Servings are huge. We had a decent size left over to take home last night. I enjoyed the eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti on the side. Red sauce is a bit on the sweet side. I liked it. I tend to order eggplant Parmesan at Italian restaurants because it's not something I can cook myself.Comparatively, the eggplant Parmesan was the best here. Cheesy, saucy and seasoned so nicely. My friend ordered the cheese raviolis. The raviolis were huge! Super tasty. The salad and bread to start your meal along with the pleasant server, all made for a great experience. They had no raviol's, we waited 30 minutes for our salads, we asked for bread & was told we wouldn't get that until our dinner was served. Then when the salads finally arrived they were wrong. They were not ready for us or welcoming. Group of four with a reservation. Not greeted upon entry but a person manning the bar could see us and a server in the dining room could see us. We stood like fools for about ten minutes. A group of three with no reservations came in behind us. We spoke with them about how odd it was that nobody acknowledged our presence. There were many empty tables and nobody at the large bar. Finally the server acknowledged us. She said that she would look for a table but there was a lot going on that night. (Paraphrased) She quickly scurried away without much of an explanation. A short time later the bartender approached and asked us the same questions as the server. We told him that we were already being taken care of. He scurried away without much no explanation. The server reappeared and took the non reservation group behind us. Odd, but we didn't care because we were now having fun talking with them about how strange this "Twilight Zone" experience was. Most of the time there we had been considering going elsewhere. Taking the group behind us was the last straw so we walked out. The bartender appeared and followed us out the door. I said the we were going elsewhere and he exclaimed that he now had our table. I would call this WNY's most underrated dining experience but based on the number of reviews this place seems to be on its rightful pedestal. House salad is nice fresh portion. The moz sticks are a must for an appetizer. They are ooey gooey and HUGE. Beautiful antipasto spread with the richest olives and meats. And the cheesy bread is thick and doesn't skimp out on the cheese. The dinners are amazing. I ordered the special over the weekend which was shrimp coated in crab with linguine pasta. Incredible. The shrimp were anything but. The crab was delicious. The linguine was really dry but once you mixed it with the sauce it was perfect. Its Robert Irvine's nightmare the portion sizes here. You always leave with leftovers. The butternut pie with homemade whip cream is simply to die for. It's quite possibly one of my favorite things to eat on Earth. We've driven by this restaurant many times and every time the hubby says "they have good food." So, for date night this week we ventured out here. Friendliness - our server was great. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She offered suggestions and was quick with refills. Cleanliness - the restaurant was very clean. From the parking lot, the landscaping, the tables, bathroom, silverware... everything was great. It makes a huge difference. Atmosphere - the decor was a bit lacking. The signs on the door stating they will not accept coupons because of the pandemic was a bit off putting. We didn't have a coupon but if I did, I would have been upset. I believe restaurant should honor these. They issued them in hopes of people coming in. I could have done without the fake flowers on the table. A simple candle, a real flower, or nothing would have been nicer. Also, there was a young server loudly complaining about another employee and slamming things. Not what I want to hear after I've just worked all day and I'm out to enjoy a date with my husband. The food - I give 1 thumbs up for the food. The bread was great, the soup was awesome, I really liked the calamari. But, my entree wasn't great. My chicken tasted and smelled off a bit. Like it wasn't so fresh. The marsala sauce was so heavy on the alcohol that it overpowered any other flavor. I had high hopes. I wish the main course was better. Wow - I am impressed! Came here with friends for a Monday lunch, not thinking it would be anything spectacular as I really have to be in the mood for Italian food. Maybe it was luck for them, because with the cold, gray day outside, I was ready for Italian! As it was lunchtime, they were not packed, which is good with me as I was on the clock. We had a fantastic waiter, Joe, and he was very nice and warmly welcomed us. I looked over the lunch menu and they had everything from pastas, creative appetizers, salads, souvlaki, and specialty sandwiches. I chose the pasta broccoli with garlic, olive oil and parmesan. My friends selected the ravioli ("pillows from heaven") with meatball, and the stuffed artichoke. While we waited, we were served homemade warm bread with dipping oil - YUM! The food came out about 20 minutes later and it all looked so good! The artichoke was huge! The waiter was right when he said this appetizer could be a meal. I started in on my pasta and the oil had a nice seasoning on it and it was so warm with perfectly cooked broccoli florets. I tried the red sauce in my friend's ravioli dish and it was so good - not too sweet, which is always a turn-off for me. Joe refilled our drinks without being asked and was very attentive. It's been a tradition to have Italian for dinner on my birthday and this year, I decided I wanted to try Orazio's By Zarcone, and boy, am I glad I did! My mother made reservations a few days in advance for a Wednesday at 6pm and when we arrived, we had no issues whatsoever with parking (a decent sized lot) or with checking in. We were seated promptly upon arrival and had a booth facing Main St. in Clarence. Our waiter was very friendly, accommodating, and knew when to check on us. We both ordered a glass of red wine and dug into the fresh, warm loaf of bread with pesto dipping oil as we reviewed the food menu. Initially, I was thinking of getting their Eggplant Parmesan but, ultimately decided on their award-winning pasta dish: Pasta con Vodka with chicken. My mother ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. We each ordered a house salad with house dressing and when asked if we wanted bleu cheese crumbles on top, I said yes. The salad was very tasty, there was a lot of dressing on it, which some may not like, we still enjoyed. It took a little bit of time for our food to come out but it was worth the wait. My dish was cooked to perfection! The sauce had an amazing flavor with a tinge of sweetness. The chicken pieces were baked to perfection: hot, tender, juicy, with a bit of breading. The dish itself was huge, I only ate half of it and took the rest home! Of course, since it was my birthday, I wanted to have some sort of sweet treat. To satisfy this need, I ordered the Peanut Butter Pie... my goodness, was it delicious! The pie was dense with a solid Oreo cookie crust to support it all. Our waiter was nice enough to light a candle on it and sing happy birthday to me! Overall, we had a great experience here. Sadly our search for a something different on Mother's Day took us here instead of old standby choice. First, they lost the reservation held with a deposit months ago. They made good on it so we were set to enjoy what the reviews promised would be great food and service. At $60/person, huge disappointment is an understatement. Understaffed for subpar service we waited forever for water let alone drink orders. When we made our way to the buffet, only one hour after opening, we found the tables empty of any clean plates or food. Literally, no food for the 11-230 morning buffet. Several trips later there were limited options each made possible only with a visit to an open kitchen door asking for a manager, which never materialized, or clean plates. Thankfully we were there for the company and not the food because there was none including at the so called desert table were seemingly store bought pasties were cut in half and looked like the deliveryman sat on them. They make good Souvlaki, and excellent dressing, and the few times I had it, it really did it for me. In any case, I finally took the plunge when I saw the sign that said "Best Souvlaki in Western NY." Now you can't be claiming that and not expect me to give it a try. And if you're going to make that sort of assertion, it better be damn good. If they sold skin cleansers, they'd be Pore-azios. And you know what, they're a little arrogant about it (they told me it'd be the best I ever tasted), but it really was good. It was only around $10 (which is about right for an open souvlaki), and while it was very different from the usual fare in Buffalo, which is by the way amazing, it was actually very good. So I appreciate them following through on their lofty claims. If they took forever to bring the check and food, they'd be Bore-azios. Why was this souvlaki so good and different? Well the chicken didn't taste particularly sauteed, which I didn't appreciate. But it was charry and high quality and extremely tasty. Dunking it in the slightly-sweet Greek oil was a real treat. The salad was a high quality salad too. It was fresh and enjoyable and not at all wilted like some of the places in town. But the real star of the show was... amazingly... the bread! This was the best pita bread, like, ever. Okay it wasn't really pita bread. Some sort of fluffy pita-esque doughy loaf of some kind. But so unbelievably good, that it tipped the scales between a 4 star review and a 5-star review. If they had tiny portions, you'd ask for More-azios. Now I can't speak for the rest of their food (much of it overpriced), or their dinner menu (you can't get this open souvlaki except at lunch time), but I can say the chicken souvlaki is good if a little un-Greek, the Greek oil is interesting if a little sweet, the salad is fresh and enjoyable, and best of all, the bread is absolutely miraculously heavenly. Always order extra bread. It's that good. I'll have to find out where they get it from. Good job, Orazio's. If the food was so heavy that it made you fall asleep, it'd be Snore-azios. And if I found them when I was travelling around playing music, they'd be Tour-azios. We were looking for someplace special as it was my birthday and close by so our dinners would still be hot when we got home. We chose Orazio's as we liked their menu choices. It was pretty easy to order online and we ordered the day before. We went to pick it up at the time we had requested but had to wait about 20 minutes. They seemed to be pretty busy which I was glad to see but I would have preferred not to wait. I ordered a caprese salad which was delicious and a pasta dish. The pasta was so fresh tasting and the sauce was incredible. My husband got the strip steak. It was prepared perfectly and a very good quality beef. Had the veal Marsala with the homemade spaghetti- I was impressed with the meal. But this time the service was the issue. My roommate and I had looked forward to eating here for quite some time; unfortunately, and much to my surprise, we weren't impressed. Our first mistake was not making a reservation; the only seat left was right near an exit which left us cold (I ate with my jacket on and still felt chilled). We were also very close to the bar and spent about 60% of the experience with butts about a foot away from our faces, due to some men standing behind women seated at the bar. The water was good, but the sweet iced tea I ordered was bland and a bit luke-warm (I had 3 glasses and they were all the same). The bread was fresh out of the oven, but it was nothing special. It got cold fast and then tasted like stale white bread. It was no longer edible after one slice. It came with regular butter. No special flavor like honey or garlic, no oil or balsamic on the side. My roommate and I ordered an orangini to share. I didn't care for it, but I'm not much of a fan of orangini anyway so I may not be the best judge. My roommate thought it was great. Our salads were fine. Nothing special to them except good croutons and good house Italian. We were both unimpressed with our entrees. My roommate got spaghetti and meatballs. He said there was not much of a robust flavor; that he could mostly taste the sugar. He said the meatballs were kind of tough and just didn't really like the flavor. He offered them to me, but I didn't try them. As for me, I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Dare I say, I like Olive Gardens better (ouch). The pasta itself was great. The chicken was gross. It had no seasoning .. totally bland. It was just cut in one inch chunks and cooked. My third piece just tasted weird and I decided to pick it out of my meal. It costs extra BTW. Waste. My roommate and I left with most of our entrees as leftovers. We agreed not to return (mind you, we have very different tastes). I will say this: our waiter was excellent. I rarely give a place 5 stars. I mean the setting and the service and food all have to be just about perfect. Well.... I am happy to report that this place checks all the boxes. The setting is clean and welcoming. The service (both by the hostess and the waitress) is friendly and helpful. And the food.... terrific! The portion sizes were huge.... and everything tasted great! Fresh warm bread (an adorable little loaf) was brought to the table with delicious house-made basil dipping oil. Dinners are served with a choice of soup or salad. All three of us chose the salad which was fresh and yummy with a mixture of greens, carrots, grape tomatoes, red onions, and delicious house-made Italian dressing. One of us had veal parmesan, one chicken parmesan, and one (me) spaghetti parmesan. Everyone loved their meals. The meats perfectly cooked, the pasta al dente, and the sauce delicious. And, mine was huge.... almost laughably so. I ate and ate and ate.... and was thrilled to have enough left for my son and me to have ample portions the next day for lunch. My husband and I came to Buffalo to visit my mom for Thanksgiving. She didn't want to cook, so we checked around online for places offering a turkey lunch/dinner. The menu on Orazios website looked great so we reserved a table for 1:30pm. First thing I noticed was the menu provided was different from the Thanksgiving menu on their website. There were 3 tables with customers but only one table had a server come and take orders. The restaurant was not busy at that point. Our server finally made an appearance after 15 min to take drink orders from the table next to us but didn't bother to greet our table. When she came to take our order for drinks, we put our food in too hoping to expedite things because it had already been a half hour. We were patient and tried to be understanding given it was Thanksgiving and many places short staffed with covid and all. 1 hour after our arrival time we received our soup. One hour. The tables in our section with another server were already eating entrees. Not really pleasant to watch other people eating when they come in half hour after you have. Soup isn't a hard thing to serve either as most places have it prepped and ready to go in a crock pot. When our turkey dinners came they were served smaller portions on different plates to the table next to us. And the food wasn't warm. Again, we didn't complain. The food was good. Just small and cold considering the $35 for a turkey dinner. Our server was more eager to provide the check as I am guessing her next reservation must have been due in as it was 2 hours since we arrived. She then gave us the wrong check. My mom asked for a box which was never provided. We had to ask another server who was more than willing to assist. We also overheard the other table complaining over the fact that the restaurant wouldn't accept their gift certificate. I really wanted to like this place. I read good things and my friend even recommended it. But based on that experience, none of us will be back. read more
