The Carmine Red Sauce was bland and tasted as if it came straight out of a can. Spaghetti was over cooked and mushy. The Chicken piccata, the sauce tasted 'off' and the chicken was like rubber. For the prices of the 'italian' meals, I could have gotten 10x better food over at Lebros around the corner. Carmine's location must be a death sentence. I realize it is Mother's Day but a 45 minute delay is unbelievable! Especially considering we called at 4:15- fifteen minutes after the restaurant lists that it opens! We took the nearest available time slot for pick up , which was 7:45 and they called at 7:30 to tell us it wouldn't be ready until 8:30. It is now 7:45. I've got hungry kids and we will be eating right before bedtime. And they ran out of the "cannoli for each mom" as well. I know every business is struggling but customer service still matters. Happy hour was excellent!!! Alex at the bar took great care of us. Great service! Ice cold beers, nice wine pours. Food was awesome. We had the apps menu which were all half price. Artichokes were the best, beans and greens were awesome, good enough for a meal. Flat bread, tasty and calamari were tender, crispy and seasoned great after a salty start. I've been here twice since the re-opening and couldn't have had a better experience both times. The service was excellent and everyone at my table loved the food. I ordered the Tortellini Brasato, which is a cheese tortellini with a short rib on top. The sauce was full of flavor, and the short rib melts in your mouth. First, I have to admit, this is not a review of Carmine's food, new location, ambiance, etc.----although we eaten at the "pre-fire" Carmine's and enjoyed it. This review is about their gift cards. Stopped in about 2 weeks before Christmas to get a gift card for a relative who adores Carmine's. Just a warning------take a GOOD look at it if you buy one, especially the back of it. I don't know what possessed me to do so but, YUK!!!!!! It was smeared with something sticky and had fingerprints all over it and fuzz of some nature stuck to it------Bleah!! Wouldn't that have made a nice gift!!??!! Also looked scratched and stomped on. Like I said, haven't eaten at this "new" Carmine's yet, but this experience really gives me pause------and you know what they say about "first impressions". Hmmmmmmm........... Glad to see Carmine's reopened! Though I've always enjoyed their food, I do miss the old location. The new spot is nice though. Well designed/decorated. Food is still tasty. I'm guessing the neighborhood is what drives the new menu prices though. I think it was way overpriced for the portion. I paid $23 for 2 small breaded chicken breasts with sauce and a tiny bowl of pasta on the side. My dinner mates got al oglio which cost $13... for noodles and oil! We ordered catering for Mother's Day from Carmine's. There was plenty of foods, sides and sauces. The price and presentation was competitive and in comparison to other options, you a lot of choices. The broccoli cheese was overloaded with cheese. The garlic smash potatoes were great. The Mediterranean salad and bread were good. The Chicken piccata and Marsala was decent. Came here for first time. The food was okay. I had lobster ravioli special and I was not a fan of the sauce. The best part of the dinner was the stuffed hot peppers and wine. This place used to be our go to Italian but it's lost its charm and the food just isn't up to standard. Our check was $125 with 4 entrees, and a garlic bread appetizer which by the way was 4 small pieces of French bread cut up with a slab of butter. WAY overpriced for what we received, and the service was mediocre too. No one was blown away by any of the food and portions were measly. My family absolutely loved the "old" Carmine's and we ate there frequently. We were excited to try it again when it reopened at the new location, but ended up very disappointed. First, the prices are ridiculously high - way higher than the original restaurant. Paying $20+ for a dish of pasta is way too much. Second, the food quality and taste wasn't nearly as good as what we remembered. We always got the Chicken Cacciatore and it was amazing! The new version is mediocre and had way too much sauce-the chicken, peppers and onions seemed to be swimming in it. The service was good and the new decor is pretty and more modern, but the tables are so close together you feel practically on top of the tables next to you. Sadly, we will not return. There are too many other awesome choices for Italian food in Buffalo that are more reasonably priced and have a more comfortable atmosphere. read more

Beautiful design and felt very welcoming from walking. The host was very sweet and helpful. There was about a 15 minute wait for a table on a Monday. We waited at the bar and the bartender was quick and had great suggestions! Once we say the service was slow and took awhile to be greeted but understandably she seemed very busy. First visit to the new location. It is a bit farther and the restaurant is a lot smaller. The food is still delicious. I had the stuffed eggplant parm and portion was huge. I took half home. Service was super. The prices are higher. We arrived ahead of the dinner crowd and glad we did. It was standing room only on the bar with people waiting for a table. I should have checked the reviews before we went here tonight. The entrees were not good. We had three dinners. Chicken Parmesan was over cooked. The breadcrumbs were somewhat burned. There was not enough mozzarella and the sauce seemed like it had all the moisture cooked out of it. More like a puree than sauce. The pasta with alfredo and chicken was also not good. The grilled chicken was burned. All you could taste was charcoal. The last dinner was fussili with pink vodka sauce and a meatball. The sauce was relatively tasteless. A letdown. On a positive note, the bread was good. We won't be back. read more

Carmine's was one of my favorite places for italian when it was the small place they haf next to the Eastern Hills Mall. I don't know what happened when they moved to East Amherst, but as far as the portions & taste goes, the change wasn't for the better. Im not saying it was bad, it just wasn't as good as it used to be. Yes, the new building is very pretty and much more spacious, but when I need my pasta fix, I don't care if I'm in a cardboard box as long as it tastes good. I ordered the spaghetti parm. Compared to how it used to be (and to other local italian restaurants) the dish was mostly meat sauce and not so much spaghetti. The noodles that were there sat in a bowl that swam in a good amount of oil/grease (which I'll most likely be paying for later) disappointing to a pasta lover like me. Arrived at 8:30 PM (30 minutes before closing). I had pistachio pesto fusilli, and it was excellent! I inhaled it, including cleaning the dish with bread to get the last bits of the sauce. It tasted great and had lots of chopped pistachios. My wife had the linguini with clams - the white sauce - and also enjoyed it. Two large glasses of wine were a very nice accompaniment to the meal. I ordered veal Marsala and was very disappointed with the amount of food I did not receive. Three small pieces of veal, smaller then a business card was not worth the money and was just ok. Clearly amazing! We loved the old Carmine's, and so many of the same wonderful servers and cooks are still with the restaurant. It was my wife's birthday and they put together an entire dessert plate on the house!
