At Carney's I had a New Yorker Hot dog with spicy mustard. My close friend and colleague had a Carney's hot dog and his assistant had one as well. My New Yorker dog was good I really liked the sauerkraut, it was packed and they gave me a fork to pick off the small heap off the top of the hot dog. Their hot dogs looked great it had giant heirloom tomato slices and it was topped with chili and its condiments. The only thing that could have made the hot dogs get a better score was if the dogs came out steaming. The service was fast and we got plenty of help in terms of utensils and napkins from the counter. All in all I liked Carney's I am fond of trains and it was a hot sunny afternoon for hot dogs in Studio City. Work buddy took us to try Carneys in Studio City. We were surprised to see the restaurant in a train car, that was actually very cool. The menu had many things to offer, but we were told their hot dog and chilli were must get. With that said, we got Carneys hot dog, chilli burger, and train wreck fries. Unfortunately, we were not a fan of the chilli here. Not saying it was bad, but we didn't like it. The tomato on the hot dog was odd to us, but really, we didn't see anything special about the hot dog. I have been coming here since I was a little girl and I'm going to say it's been well over 30-35 yrs. Never in my entire time coming here have they tried to charge me extra for chili on the side instead of on the burger when I'm driving the burger all the way home to eat and it will get soggy. I live halfway to San Diego now and had a flight out of Burbank, drove here for what I miss having weekly so much. I'm a flight attendant and work flights out of Burbank for this purpose. This guy was literally nickel and diming me on the amount of chili that will go in the cup (on the side). I walked out and will never come back. The owner knew me very well and He nor his others employees have ever acted this way when I have asked for extra chili on my burger or in this case just on the side because I have a 2hr drive before I'm home. Literally holding his finger up on the cup on how much he will give me which was a quarter of a cup. lol as expensive as these burgers are, just for the principal alone, I unfortunately will say adios Carneys. Terrible customer service as I am here at 9:15pm and they will close soon so he's fighting me on charging me the extra chili for my burger. lol I'm all over the place and very insulted and upset after all the years I've come and to come all this way for nothing. Carney's has always been a staple hot dog joint in the valley for me. There's always something special about a trip to the famous Carney's train smack right in the heart of Ventura Blvd. After a quick round of golf at Studio City the only thing I was craving was a delicious Carney chili dog. The best thing about Carney's is the atmosphere. You can get a hot dog probably of equal or greater value at Pinks or even Dog Haus, but dining in a train makes the whole thing better. I went with the Carney's Dog and the Chili Fries. I love how they put two quarter slices of tomato on the dog instead of chopped as a refreshing bite after you have indulged in the entire meal. In short, the hot dog tasted amazing and the chili fries are to die for. So here I am years later making sure I do this place some justice and give it the review it does not even need. What we normally order: Carney's Red Eye: It is the spicy polish version of the classic Carney's. Consists of Chili, Mustard, Tomato, and Onions. Add bacon if you want. I also like to order a small cup of Spicy Pineapple Slaw. Sooooo good. Some people don't like to add anything sweet to their dogs but I love this so much! Typing about it makes my mouth water. Classic chili dog! My husband has been a Cupids fan forever...and I think this place knocks the socks off that other place! Went with a friend! She is a decade long fan of Carney's. She recommended getting the Carney dog and getting the chili on the side. And a large side of fries. She likes to get a side of thousand Island dressing, sidenote, it's made from scratch so it doesn't taste like traditional thousand Island dressing. Totally recommend getting some. My friend likes to alternate between dipping in the chili and dipping in the thousand Island dressing. I got the same thing and I'm so glad that I did it was fantastic. The bread was very soft and Ample enough to handle the heaviness of the chili. The dog is a fresh casing dog which makes it extra special. The Carney dog comes with tomato chili onions and pickles and mustard. You can ask them to hold anything you don't like. The fries were normal thin fries. Think McDonald's. I ordered them well done. They were perfectly done. I didn't notice much salt so I added salt and pepper on my own. You can choose how you like it. We were very fortunate when we arrive there was no one in line. Very quickly, the line got long and we were so grateful that we had such luck. So be prepared to wait in line. Hopefully you'll get the line God's favor like we did and you won't have to wait. Nevertheless, I would come here again even if there is a line. The food is delicious and some thing for everyone. When I go back, I will definitely struggling not to order the same thing. A high 4 stars to this fast food goodness. I was looking for quick dinner while walking down sunset blvd and found this place. The place has a unique setting and it's a great experience and ambiance. I ordered the following items: Chilli Cheese burger: This was delicious, and one of their signature items. A simple burger with lettuce, onions, tomato and cheese but topped with chilli. Very juicy and fresh. red baron: this is your hot dog with cheese but with red cabbage slaw. Simple but not for everyone as the slaw overwhelms the dog. I would add more spice to this and go easy on the slaw. It's still good though. fries: Crispy and delicious, and they come in huge quantity. Must get item as well on the menu. Had an amazing lunch! Honestly no lie better then I'm and out!!!! They are friendly and the place is nice and different. I had the train rack fries added chili and it was even more fire. Currently doing lent so I have the vegan beyond burger and it was delicious. Only thing I would change would be the bread for the burger on the beyond burger, because the mixture is dry it needs a more Moisture bread like maybe Hawaiian bread or something maybe pretzel bread. Carney's has one of the best burgers I have ever had. Had tier burger for years and never tried their chili cheese burger. Today was the first time for that. I usually don't get chili cheese burgers but I must say Wow! They did real good. The chili was smothered all over that burger and had just the right consistency. It wasn't too watery so it was not easy to spill out when you took a bite out of that awesomeness. I love how they stay simple and stick to the regular ketchup and mustard and make a great burger out of that. Their raw chopped onions add a great deal of taste to their burgers. They keep it simple and it tastes great. It tastes just like homemade, the regular burgers and cheeseburgers cheeseburgers is. Never had a chili burger at home. I was able to eat 2 out of the 3. They had a combo special so why not right?. The fries here are are always bomb. Crispy on the outaidrand soft inside. Only reason they get a 4 is because my poatmates guy said they didn't have a cup holder for the milk shake. Poor guy had to balance it with the other stuff, so did it.
