Tempura Roll "on the house" - thanks Sushi Me!
    Julian H.

In terms of quality to cost, Sushi Me is an excellent value. My wife and I dined in and ordered the "sushi pizza" appetizer, sodas, edamame, seaweed salad, several rolls, and the Godzilla specialty roll - total cost of about $75 for both of us. The miso soup was flavorful and the overall portions are generous for a sushi restaurant. The server brought out a free shrimp tempura roll (I believe you get a free tempura roll when you order over $50 worth of food). The only downside we experienced was that that my wife found a bone in her sushi. She said it was the first time it has ever happened - we order from Sushi Me a lot. Despite this, we would definitely return here because the overall quality is great.

I've been getting takeout from this restaurant many years ago and just realized I haven't yet written a review for this place lol. I always get sushi sashimi lunch combo. They give you options to select between salad and soup. Even though the price has gone up, the quality and freshness are still the same. Sometimes I had to place an advance order the day before. I guess it was because they were sold out. The order is done correctly and ready to be picked up pretty quickly. If you order from Seamless or Grubhub, you can get free item if you order up to certain amounts. I will keep ordering from this place as long as the quality and the freshness are not compromised, as well as the price lol.

Free Tempura Roll when you spend more than 50

Try their Snow Mountain Roll!! That's the roll I came here for twice and keep ordering, because the tempura is pretty crunchy, come with the sweet crap meat on the top, they are perfect matched. Also, I have tried their spider roll, tiger roll, salmon and avocado roll, eel and avocado roll, but these are just okay and nothing wrong. If you order more than $30 , you can get a free roll. And if you order more than $50 you can get a free tempura roll. Well, the free tempura roll has too many cucumber, I can taste only the cucumber but nothing else. There are parking spot available outside the restaurant. The staffs are also friendly.

The sushi was so fresh and the miso soup was flavorful! On top of that, the prices were really reasonable - this is our new go to place for sushi take out. They even threw in a free California Roll! Roll Combo C rolls all tasted very similar, which wasn't surprising since they were all a type of spicy roll.

I ordered Combo C which comes with a Spicy Tuna Roll, a Spicy Salmon Roll Roll and a Spicy Yellowtail Roll with miso soup and a Salmon Avocado Roll for delivery. The sushi rolls were fresh and I loved how it wasn't filled with too much rice. The ginger and wasabi were high quality. Really enjoyed it! Wish I got more ginger.

Small, simple, and solid sushi spot. The prices are very fair and the food is great. The service was even better. This is my new go to sushi spot in the area!

4.5 stars Got takeout this weekend from here and it was deeeelish! I've been looking for a go to place and this place is only 8 min away from me!! Salmon lover ($18.95)- good!! Salmon tasted very fresh and the sashimi slices were big! I wish they did salmon avo instead of spicy salmon though. Roll combo B ($13.95)- Salmon avo, eel avo and shrimp tempura. These 3 are what I would normally get at other sushi places so it's like the set was made for me! All were great. Roll combo C ($13.95)- this was decent but I wouldn't get this again. Honestly they all taste veryyyy similar. Crazy roll ($10.95)- this was okay, but I wouldn't get it again Rainbow roll - free anything is good! Can't wait to get sushi here again and try some other rolls

I was so excited to order sushi for delivery because it's been a while. I ordered spicy salmon rolls and beef chow fun, my usual order for any place I go to. This was the worst chow fun I've ever had. The beef was tasteless but the chow fun was so hard I threw half of it away and forcibly swallowed loose soft one. There was a chunk of chow fun stuck together and hard. I don't know how chow fun can be so hard. The rolls had a weird taste. I think maybe it was the seaweed. Either way I won't be ordering here again. I'm disappointed because this was close by so I was hoping to come here all the time.

An Unforgettable Omakase Experience!…read more We celebrated the 4th of July with an incredible omakase dinner at Masaki, and it exceeded every expectation. Every course was beautifully presented, impeccably fresh, and perfectly balanced. From the delicate Red Sea Bream and buttery Scallop to the luxurious Toro with Caviar, Sweet Shrimp with Uni, and the unforgettable Eel with Foie Gras, each bite was a masterpiece. What truly elevated the evening was Michael, our sushi chef. He was warm, engaging, and exceptionally knowledgeable. He took the time to explain every course, the origin of the fish, the flavors, and the best way to enjoy each piece. His passion for his craft was evident, and his attention to detail made the entire experience feel personal and memorable. Dining at the sushi bar gave us a front-row seat to watch the artistry behind every piece. The quality of the ingredients, the precision of the preparation, and the genuine hospitality made this one of the finest omakase experiences we've ever had. Thank you, Michael, and the entire Masaki team, for making our holiday celebration so special. We can't wait to return for another unforgettable evening!

It was three oysters, similar to Crown Shy except I wasn't a huge fan of the flavoring here. The nigiri sauce didn't really elevate the flavor of the oysters much as they're already a slightly salty food and a soy sauce sort of just added more salt to it. I think a bit more kick was needed to enhance the flavor profile. The handroll set was pretty good, I liked the spicy tuna the best, then the salmon and then the yellowtail the least. In order, I'd probably give the spicy tuna a 9/10, salmon 8/10 and yellowtail 7/10. However, the tiramisu was fantastic, one of the best tiramisus I have had, creamy, good notes of coffee flavor and wasn't overly sweet. Our server was also very friendly, she showed us how to properly eat the handrolls which was nice. The place also has a nice vibe to it, very relaxing and not too loud or overly grand.

It is $165 for a 13 course - it also comes with appetizer and dessert as well. The place is located inside Siam Thai - behind a bookshelf, the vibes are immaculate back there. The chief was so friendly and took his time to explain each dish to us and also took time to chat with us which I thought was really nice especially since I have mainly been to "fast casual" omakase locations recently where they don't really chat with you. There was a good variety of appetizers, fish and dessert. The appetizer options were so unique and the platting was so pretty. The fish options were also very plentiful and I liked the topping that they put on top of each one, the rich was not as warm and soft as I would usually like it but they paired well with the fish. The portion sizes were also pretty large which I thought was nice especially since we were paying about $165 a person. If you are getting sake, they do let you sample the sake before opening the whole bottle. The presentation of the opened sake was also so fancy. Overall - if you want a more traditional omakase experience, I highly recommend checking this place out. The vibes are immaculate and you will have a good time chatting with the chef while enjoying your food!

Service did match up to the price tag and we were treated well but the fish quality was very mediocre. Some pieces were overly warm and did not taste that fresh. The rice was often falling apart. There were the basic chutoro, salmon, otoro fish but no other fish was unique. There were only 13 courses and it felt that they were reusing ingredients because we had uni and caviar multiple times. One dish was uni, caviar, and white rice which felt like a cop out considering uni was a separate course. I did not need uni 3/13 courses provided as someone who enjoys uni. This place is comparative to those $60-70 omakase but not reflective of $165. I went to Shota Omakase for $195 and the fish quality and selection were more diverse.

( https://www.instagram.com/p/DQF8Gzekcks/ ). It is a shame because, besides myself, I know a few people that aren't in the neighborhood that travel regularly to G&L. Also its surprising because every time I go the place is pretty packed and occasionally there is a wait. What's also a shame, for me, is that on my recent visit my friend ordered the Steamed Seafood in Lemongrass and this is perhaps the top, or one of the top dishes on the menu. The seafood flavors and balances the slightly spicy lemongrass broth making this a crave worthy bowl. I ordered something out of my wheelhouse - the Coconut Spicy Lemongrass Soup, which on online order menu states its a popular dish. I couldn't see why this dish is so popular because I find other items on the menu superior. They make a tasty pho (especially when paired with a marrow bone). Their sandwiches are well made - I enjoy the different fish ones. I think their Vietnamese coffee could use some work - it is blander than other versions I had tried. Don't be too sad and maybe feel a little optimistic because owner Petra Rickman has a great track record opening interesting, in demand restaurants (This one and Taco Azul have been longtime go-tos in Whitestone). Additionally G&L has a 2nd location with the same menu in Manhattan, which unfortunately for a Queens boy like myself is a bridge too far and a congestion pricing too high for me to make the trek.
