As someone who works in the service industry, I understand how stressful a busy bar can get it but there's no excuse for blatant rudeness and selective hospitality. The bartender tonight was dismissive, short, and downright unaccommodating with me, yet I watched him be attentive and friendly with others at the same bar. We all have off days, but professionalism means treating every guest with a baseline of respect. Instead, I felt like I was being treated as an inconvenience, while others were welcomed with a smile. Everything we ate here was bursting with flavor from our drinks to our food! Enjoyed every single dish we ordered, and can't wait to come back! Inside is a low lighting with candles vibe, with a good amount of tables and a large bar to sit at. The front door is in the back, in the parking lot behind the building. We came on a Friday night without a reservation and were able to be sat within 15 minutes. They even took our drink orders as we were waiting. Service was knowledgeable, helpful, and fun the whole night. We ordered the spicy tuna cannolis, the mussels in absinthe butter, and the raw oysters for our appetizers. Holy mother of god if you like raw oysters these are a must order!! I would go back just for these oysters. The mignonette and chili oil create an explosion of flavor and the oysters tasted so fresh. The tuna cannolis were a close second, with the cheesy flavor on top mixed with the pepperoncini aioli and the tuna, oh my gosh, perfection. For mains, we ordered the fried chicken, the cannelloni, and the squash risotto. All of them were amazing, with the favorites being the chicken and the risotto. Only reason being, the cannelloni was just exactly what you'd expect and wasn't as unique as everything else we tried, but still great! The crepe type bread that comes with the chicken to make tacos was so moist and airy. The flavors of the chicken mixed with the whipped white beans and pickled veggies in the crepe bread all made the most delicious bite. The squash risotto was so flavorful and loved the basil in it. This was a follow up visit last fall for afternoon drinks - delightful al fresco HH. We stopped by Casa Bianca for afternoon drinks on a beautiful fall day, and it was such a treat! We were delighted to discover that Happy Hour drinks & nibbles are available on a Sunday afternoon--what an unexpected bonus! We really enjoyed the Italian donuts, wings, among others and imaginative cocktails--everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The service was awesome, and the HH deals made it even better! Parking is convenient, with a small lot in the back, and if that fills up, street parking in the neighborhood is a great alternative. A restaurant for foodies! This place was amazing, me and my girlfriend got the tasting menu with the wine pairing and each dish seemed to one up the last. I've never had food like this before! It's Italian with a twist. Just two months before coming here I was in Italy enjoying all the classics, and coming here was definitely not more of the same. They had a pasta dish with fermented garlic honey and Szechuan peppercorns, who in the world comes up with that? It was INCREDIBLE and paired with this amazing DOCG Italian wine that had some "funk" to its nose, almost peaty like. A very unique combo that sets this restaurant apart from all its Italian relatives here in Austin. If you're looking for an Italian classic, this is maybe not the spot you're looking for, but if you're looking to give your palate a refreshing take on delicious cuisine, executed at an elite level, this is the spot for you. This was my second visit to Casa Bianca. The first time was great, which is why I was looking forward to coming back. Unfortunately, this visit was far from it. I had reservations for 5:45 and arrived a few minutes early at 5:40. The server told us she would be right with us, but by 5:55 we were still standing there -- even though an empty table for four was right in front of us the entire time. At 6:05, the host finally mentioned that our server had been "double sat." We were eventually seated at 6:10... at the same empty table that had been open the whole time. Once seated, things didn't improve. The server informed us that several items were unavailable -- oysters, Bronzino, and two of their wines. With such a limited menu, that meant about a quarter of it wasn't available. One of the three main dishes we ordered was also unavailable. For a place where dinner for 4 easily costs around $350 (including tip), I expected much better organization, communication, and menu consistency. Very cool little restaurant, and a hidden gem in Austin! We were looking for a wine bar we could pop into for a glass of wine and quick bite and this place did not disappoint! The staff is super nice and helpful when navigating the menu. They have a list of wine options, as well as a cocktail menu. If you are dropping by I highly recommend the clams casino panzerotti as an appetizer. You only get 2 but they are so dang good. Let's start with portion sizes and then move on to service.... Portions are comically small for the price point. You have to choose a lane. And we all know that one bite isn't worth $15 of a pea based pasta. Service was worse than the food portions, though. Our server didn't know anything about food or wine. She didn't know how to pour wine... the bottle made contact with the glass and we were worried she was going to chip the wine glass. Nothing was even close to excellent in taste, so the bad portions, high price, and bad service really just led me to wish something else had opened here. Everything that could go well with a crab toast is all happening here Fried olives - these olives were stuffed with Gorgonzola cream. Coupled with the olive & breading, the texture was amazingly hearty Chilled shrimp + artichoke - what an amazing dish! The flavor was impressive for a dish so simple. Sweetness from the shrimp, heat from the cocktail sauce, and tang from the aioli all make for a brilliant experience Clams casino - I hate clams, but I fell in love with these. The batter is lovely/buttery/crispy, the filling is smoky, and the clams weren't reminiscent of the sea whatsoever Mussels in absinthe butter - not my cup of tea although it looked and smelled great Pork belly- a little salty Lasagna Mille-feuille - an absolutely wonderful end to a lovely dinner. Crisp, light, not too sweet, and airy. I'm still thinking of this dessert 3 hours after having it. Overall, this place won't be empty for long and parking won't be as easy to find once people start finding out about this gem. Self proclaimed as "Experimental Italian" is an accurate depiction of both the menu offering and taste of the dishes I had. The flavor profile of each dish was delightfully interesting, for example: absinthe with butter, fried olives with gorgonzola cream, and fermented honey paired with lamb. The team did a fabulous job transforming the space from it's previous tavern, the added high fence around the patio whisks you away from the buzz of Cesar Chavez, creating an elegant (and do friendly) environment. The staff was all extremely attentive, there did seem to be a little disconnect of who attended to the table and when, at times being asked if we needed another drink after ordering, prior to receiving. The house cocktail prices are reasonable, the more elevated variations start to a fall into a range that I do not think belongs in Austin. I do look forward to returning and trying out the (intentionally) cold spaghetti and cocktails on the rooftop. The menu and pricing for the rooftop looks quite competitive! Service and thoughtlessness absolutely annoyed me tonight. I specifically told the hostess that we were celebrating a birthday, and I know for a fact our waiter knew it was my friend's birthday as well. The hostess reassured me that they were aware, and she had written down my name on a piece of paper. Literally nothing. No celebration. Not to mention, service was absolutely awful. Our waiter rarely came in to check on us, and for some reason, the timing of dishes was so spread apart. Why did one entree come out first and the second come out almost 30 minutes later? Food wasn't steaming. Oysters and small plates also took forever. Staff seems to wait around and chit chat with each other more often than they come to check in on you. I think the lack of celebration thing annoyed me the most because it should be an honor for people to choose your establishment to come and celebrate a big milestone, and not a single word was mentioned. I had even booked reservations at two other places before settling on Casa Bianca because I thought the interior and menu were both lovely, and my friend would really enjoy the vibes. The food is pretty good. I enjoyed the oysters and spicy tuna cannoli. The cannoli was really interesting, and I liked that it was an innovative take on a dessert turned savory appetizer. I didn't enjoy the crab toast. There was way too much cheese and you couldn't taste the pepper chili at all. My friend and I shared the branzino and pork belly, and I thought both appetizers were really delicious. Pistachio is interesting with branzino, but it was perfectly cooked and paired really nicely. Pork belly was scorched super well, and I really enjoyed the smoky flavor. I didn't care for the cabbage, and the potatoes were really under seasoned. My friend and I also ordered the focaccia ice cream, and it was really interesting. A little savory but mostly sweet, and the ice cream texture is phenomenal. Super creamy and heavy. Lastly, they have this cocktail that dauntingly says "limit 2 per guest" on the menu, but it's because the rum is of a really high proof. This cocktail was phenomenal. I was buzzed after just three sips, and I understand why they limit two per dining guest. I really hope they improve their service and timing of dishes. My recent visit to Casa Bianca was nothing short of extraordinary. Every aspect was well executed - from the ambiance, the service, the food, the creativity that went into everything. It was truly a memorable experience. Made for a very special weekday date night. We ordered fresh oysters and paired them with a bottle of Ployez-Jacquemart Brut. Im not generally a fan of the wine selection in Austin restaurants (or in Texas in general) but this was an excellent pick. 10/10 The spicy bluefin tuna cannoli was a first, love the creativity. Ordered it out of curiosity, and glad I did. It was delicious. The shell was on the sweeter side. I would have preferred more of a neutral wonton shell. I think roe or seaweed/nori could elevate this dish even further. 8/10 The crab arancini was touted as "probably the best thing I've ever made" by the chef. I don't know how they did it but chef managed to bring out a biting freshness out of the crab that made you believe the crab was alive seconds before touching your mouth. It's still dripping seawater. Wild stuff. 10/10. The herb Caesar I say with complete confidence it is the BEST Caesar salad I've ever had. Down to the crouton shavings that defy physics - how did they remain that perky down to the last bite?? A bite of the cured anchovies with dill in this salad and you can feel your synapses firing full on fireworks. Existential happiness comes with this dish. 11/10 The freshly made cavatelli pasta with lamb, hazelnut ragú, and fermented honey was audacious af and an absolute hit. I had to force myself to slow down while eating it to really savor it. 10/10 The risotto with roasted squash ragú was an excellent take on a popular dish. Rich, deep, comforting, complex, indulgent but not heavy, silky. 10/10 Lastly, Lasagna mille-feuille is a layered tower of crispy pasta, a butternut goat cheese diplomat cream, candied hazelnuts, cajeta, rosemary. Absent from the description is fennel and curry which makes for a very pleasant aromatic surprise. You are encouraged to cut through the tower with your spoon as you would crack crème brûlée, the super thin puffed up lasagna "noodles" and the airy cream just give away. It's mousse-y, fragrant, crispy, nutty, creamy, toasty, crunchy... so so delightful. No matter how full you are from dinner make room for this dessert. We paired this with a Greek Muscat (forgot the name) that was an excellent recommendation from our server. 11/10 Wrapping up the evening chatting with one of the owners behind the bar was the cherry on top. While happy hour pricing was inviting, the food lacked flavor and flair. The portions are quite small for the main menu and entrees considering the price point. Yes, there is a decent sized parking lot directly in front of the restaurant for about a dozen cars. - Reservations? Yes, you can book online or over the phone. It does not seem necessary for now. - Happy hour? Yes, Wed.-Fri. between 4-5:30pm. Select food and drinks discounted. FOOD & DRINK RATINGS: - Memento Mori margarita (5/5): Great flavor, loved the passion fruit. A yummy marg! - Salsa Verde #3 margarita (5/5): Also great flavor, unique and creative. - Artichoke leaves (1/5): These were sad. First, they were chilled. I am honestly blown away by the good reviews here. My group of 5-arrived for our res 10/17 at 7pm and the place was empty. That should have been our clue. They don't allow you to try wines they sell by the glass. Why? "No tastings" she said. We tried: tuna cannoli, scallops, cooked & raw oysters, focaccia bread, cannellini pasta, risotto, afogato. How you make afogato mediocre is beyond me - it's espresso and ice cream. - The tuna = thumbs down all the way around with the consistency and flavor; scallop was good but the flavor combo with the mint was just odd; the oysters were fine, but nothing special for the $6 they are priced; focaccia was the star of the show (sad); the pasta was meh; risotto needs it's own review for how bad it was. Presentation of all was great. Service was good during our meal. Afterward we went upstairs to the rooftop bar because Austin was 65 degrees and beautiful! No red wine upstairs, but plenty of white. Again, why? Walked back down to the downstairs bar. After some back and forth the manager "allowed us" to order some red and take it up. I stood there for a minute waiting and the bartender specifically said, we will bring it up to you. Cool. Meanwhile upstairs (20-min later) someone from our party went looking for the wine and it's sitting there waiting for us (probably for 20 minutes). So, that was the last straw; we left. What a waste! This group I'm with - we do a monthly dinner every month. We are not picky eaters and we've been most places and we almost always walk away with a thumbs up, even if everything's not 100%. My favorite dish was the branzino and the oysters all'amatriciana. I thought the blue cheese crackers accompanying the trout were an odd choice and probably an acquired taste, so liked the trout more on its own. Drinks were beautifully crafted. I'm a tequila/mezcal girl, so didn't venture to try other spirits but they have a vast selection to choose from. My friend didn't like any of her drinks which was a bummer, but the owner was nice enough to come over and recommend something different. This used to be Top Dawgs Bar & Grill and Eastside Tavern. The space was renovated to be brighter, cleaner and nooks have tables nestled within them for more privacy. There's parking in the back, which is so nice. I came here to check out their happy hour. Portions are small, flavors are different and robust. For example, the beef tartare is stuffed within a baked roll open-ended on both sides. They were able to make a vegan version stuffed with walnuts for this dish, which was much appreciated for my vegan friend. I would say my favorite is the ocean trout crudo with these dense crackers that were slightly sweet. My friend's burger was flavorful, simple. Get the lemoncello donuts! I don't know if I could get full from the menu items without paying more than $80. The cocktail prices are $9-14 for happy hour. The space is great for catching up with friends and staff are diverse and attentive and came to let us know last call for happy hour. read more

Casa Bianca honestly surprised me. I was expecting to be dissapointed, and for dishes to be too small. But I was completely wrong. Ambiance and service were perfect. We started off with two great cocktails. But the food was the show. The raw scallop dish was super inventive and delicious. The focaccia was incredible and a ton for $7. The pasta and main (pork belly) were both also very very good. The only let down was the crushed cucumber, but it wasn't bad, just not as great. Only complaint is the time between dishes was longer than we wanted, and especially at the end when we were getting too full. Overall, really delivers on its promise to be "weird italian", but importantly its just tasty, and you leave satisfied. read more

*Hamburger Review* - It is criminal that the meatloaf burger IS NOT DRESSED at all besides a flavorless relish. Needs an aioli, cheese.. Anything. One of the blandest burgers I've had. Felt like I got one of the last burgers at a pool party and they were out of condiments. Honestly wasn't that impressed based on the good reviews. Went for happy hour. Service was pretty bad for being at the bar. Felt like our waiter could have cared less about us. Oysters were good. The pork belly pasta for 28 wasn't that warm and was sooooo small. We split it between 2 people but still was hardly much. The wings came with 3 and were really good but were hard to eat. First time going to this place last night and the experience was phenomenal! Great bartenders, amazing hostess and not to mention our waitress was so polite and accommodating, she frequently came by our table to ensure that we were taken care of. And the food!!! We came in to Casa Bianca not expecting a lot but loved every aspect of our dinner here. We got one round of cocktails and then a bottle of wine. The cocktails were amazing and not too sweet as I would've expected from their ingredients. I was even bold enough to get a cocktail I wouldn't normally and loved it. For appetizers we got the focaccia bread and the green beans. The bread was super fluffy and had a delectable cheesy flavor to it that paired incredibly with the star anise butter on the side. Green beans were great too. We got a couple of pasta dishes and the chicken as well as mussels, all of which were amazing. Definitely coming back here read more
