Who the bell gives the rice and beans outside the burrito?? Not just that but the burrito only had beans and meat inside. That's it. Nothing else. I'm not saying I've found a comparable place, but the food was good and piping hot, just how I like it, and the service was superb. We ordered the chicken enchilada- delish and filled with plenty of flavorable chicken and the Chile Verde chmichanga- perfectly fried, but I'm used to more spice, and the Bay leaf was a bit overpowering, but the meat was tender and moist. Nothing better than a family run restaurant. The blended mango margarita is different and big and tasty. They have two Mexican beers on tap and you can get the "big beer" which is probably 22oz. The mole Is of the red variety which is not as hard core as the dark brown style. It was a big portion and full of flavor. They were my favorite part of the experience, for sure. I got the fiesta tostada with ground beef and it was exactly what I wanted. Bottom line, I love this place. The food is great, but the staff (Miguel, Ceasar, Julio, Rocky) make it a place I want to be. They made me feel right at home and bothered to get to know me and remember to ask about my kids and their activities. They've celebrated my promotions and birthdays and do it with a smile. Over the years I'd say I would eat here about three times a week and would even come back after work for happy hour! I don't drink tequila, but my friends love the margaritas. They never give me a hard time when I ask for special accommodations to the entrees (big deal to me) and it's always right. They sell tamales to go which my family loves and I've even had them cater parties. Everyone I've introduced Casa Lupe to has loved it. A little hole in the wall in this plaza in Sunnyvale. Great over all experience and definitely will be back. The service was on point. Super friendly, came around often, and everything came out timely. Food wise order the nachos and three item and a couple margaritas. Nachos were tasty, but a little disappointing since I was expecting your standard pile of chips loaded with everything (should have looked through the yelp pics more carefully ). Their take on it was to construct each individual nacho (ended up with 9 total chips). Each chip had a layer of beans, cheese, meat (sour cream and guac on the side). It was basically a bite sized tostada. Three item, chose the chicken enchilada, chicken taco, and chili relleno. Definitely a large portion of food. The taco [4/5] was crispy and loaded. Basically to the point that after two bits it busted open (not necessarily a bad thing, just messy). Enchilada [3/5] was decent, just could have use a little sauce or more seasoning to the chicken inside. Chili Relleno [3.75/5] was cheesy and sauce was good. All that you'd want from a standard relleno. Got the original lime margarita. Was tasty, but more on the sour side. Glad I decided to get it blended as I think it probably would have been more sour if I didn't. Perfectly hearty and hot! I've been here a few times already and knew I need to add my "2 cents" of this place. This place is my go-to when it comes to Mexican comfort food. The food is extremely hearty and I would be surprised if you leave this place still hungry. I LOVE crispy tacos that are made on-site (not manufactured taco shells) and this place always delivers. It's not listed on the menu as crispy so make sure to specify to the server. My usual go-to order is the "Make your own platter" and if I feel brave I do the pick 3: enchiladas, taco (crispy), and Chile relleno. It's been a struggle to find a restaurant that can do BOTH a crispy taco and a Chile relleno that I love but this place nails it. Other fun bits to know: salsa (2 types) and chips for ever table. Refills of both are upon request. Margaritas are strong! Menudo is available on weekends. Hopefully you don't mind a wait a bit if you come after 6pm. My husband got a carnitas combo plate and also adored all of it and got a couple meals out of his as well, which we felt made the price feel really fair.
