Probably some of the worst mexican food ive ever had i had the wet burrito the meat was chewy and dry there was nothing to the burrito but meat and beans the sauce tasted like canned tomato juice with big chucks of celery in it like a bloody mary the chorizo and bean dip was like a burnt dry chorizo patty my wife had the chicken enchiladas which they put the same bloddy mary sauce on dry bland chicken seemed boiled and the salsa they gave us was so over powered by garlic it was inedible i wouldnt recommend this place at all so disappointed read more

I let myself get carried away by the rating but when I saw the reviews and everyone raving about the carnitas plate I decided to get it. The carnitas where dry, fried to a crisp and tasted like old oil. A couple of bites in, my stomach immediately told me to stop. I read the YELP reviews and other reviews from other sites online and figured, how bad could this place be? I LOOOOVE Mexican food and my favorite is Margarita Villa in Ventura, so I KNOW tasty Mexican grub when it exists. Trust me, it exists at Casa Lupitas. Honestly? If you are one of those people who only dine at fancy restaurants, then you are going to have to get off your high horse, honey. It's NOT fancy here. Not in the LEAST bit. It's about as casual and somewhat worn as you can get, but surprisingly clean. It's looks like an old diner. You wonder about dust. In fact, at first glance, the first set of words that'll come to mind are: Hole-In-The-Wall. The next set are: Will-my-car-be-frickin-safe-around-here? The answers are: Yep, car should be cool, but park on the street to ease your mind (instead of in the back lot) and...well...this is ONE hole that's worth visiting. The restaurant is family-owned and the waitress is genuinely a cool person. IHOP is not the only place where you will come hungry and leave happy. Our plates were FULL of hot, delicious food. The beans and rice were really tasty! Plenty of cheese to last a lifetime--but that's how I LIKE it! Didn't like the salsa, though. Blech! Sorry. Don't know what happened there..somebody stay up too late the night before? I don't know. SOMETHIN' went south. However, the chips were niiiice! I dipped those in the beans and kept right on chewin'! My advice? GO! Go hungry because the portions are ginormous. Don't expect much in decor, but paradise will be in your stomach. This place is super yummy! I tried to order enchiladas in singles and she talked me into the meal, it was bigger then I thought it would be and I only ate half of it! So you really can get individual and get full and save $5.00 enchiladas are large for the price of $2.25 my husband got the #40 with cactus and said it was really good. Casa Lupita is a small, cozy restaurant on the main drag in Castaic. We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed the lunch specials. I had the chile relleno that came with rice and beans, my wife had the taco plate. She claims the carnitas were the best she's ever tasted. The restaurant is clean, the service friendly. There is a parking area, but we parked on the street. Quite a large menu for a small place. We'll be back! read more

I was hoping for the best, but the reviews on this page are either bogus or written by people without taste buds. - The 10 or so chips I was given had *puddles* of oil on them. - The salsa was nothing but spicy red water. - The wet burrito had so little flavor, I literally added salt/pepper in a feeble attempt to salvage the thing because I was THAT starving. Wow. I can't believe this place already has two reviews. We were driving AFAP out of LA to get back to SF in time to drop some documents at the title company otherwise the seller/agents of the house we were supposed to close on the next day was going to have an apoplectic heart attack (don't I wish). So we were trying to do breakfast on the road but I kept shooting down the obvious fast food options throughout the valley. Castaic is kind of the end of the road for having much options so we pulled off to find something and among all the fast food chains sat this sad little storefront that looks like nobody loves it. Obviously I'm wrong. Can you be called a barfly if you're not drinking? A barfly sat at the counter amiably chatting with the SUPER SMOKING HOT waitress, but otherwise, it was just us. We ordered a chorizo and egg breakfast burrito to go, which was served up super fast. We slurped the burrito down within two miles, it was that good, and didn't even spill any food in the car. Why only four stars? The waitress didn't know how to spell "chorizo". Suspicious for somebody who works at a Mexican restaurant, don't you think? The place must be a front for something else. I have tried pretty much every Mexican place in Santa Clarita, Antelope Valley, and San Fernando, including taco trucks, small places like Casa Lupe, and big "chain" places, and NONE of them can compare to the food, prices, and service here! It pains me to have to eat at other Mexican restaurants when I'm out of town (can you tell I love Mexican food?) so we usually end up here once or twice a week! If you've never been to Castaic, Ca you are not missing anything special because the area off the Parker and Lake Hughes Road exit is mainly truckers and crappy pit stops and overpriced lunch trucks. However , if you find yourself hungry while passing through this city you must try this place!!!! The menu offers wide variety from classic American sandwiches to authentic Mexican dishes and breakfast is available from open to close!!! The prices are very decent and the food is delicious. I don't write many reviews on here however the waitress (Samantha) was genuinely friendly with a great attitude . She wowed my husband and I because we go out to eat ALOT ( he is an OTR truck driver ) and we never are shown such amazing service. I hope her manager knows what a gem he/she has working for them. ( Give her a raise !!! Lol .....but seriously-do it! She rocks!) the ranch dressing though....Im pretty sure it's hidden valley ranch which, in my opinion, is not as enjoyable as authentic house made ranch. The chips and salsa are out of this world!!!! There's outdoor seating too with big flat screen tv, nice lighting with tinted glass around the side that faces the street for privacy while you're enjoying your food. The inside is super clean which is always a good sign. I could go on about this little diamond in the rough lol. This is gonna be our go to when ever we pass thru. This is definitely my favorite mexican joint in Castaic. I go here every now and then but I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed in the wet burrito! There food is always delish! They give you a good amount for a good price and eating in is always a pleasure. Sure the place may not look like its a 5 star place, but the food is definitely on point. The women that work there are very down to earth and attentive. Sometimes the quality of the food may depend on who is in the kitchen but its never ever bad. You will not be disappointed here! Everyone's raving about this spot so my expectations sky-rocketed. I only live 5-10 minutes south of this restaurant but have never been here. I gave it a try during lunch time today. Casa Lupitas can be found along Castaic Road, near all the truck stops in the area. It's across a starbucks and a whole bunch of fast food chains. Parking was easy(own lot). They have a patio with about 4-5 tables. I got inside and was surprised the place was almost empty. I seated at the bar and the waitress was very sweet and engaged in a good conversation. She set me up with some nachos and salsa which I chowed down in a flash. They got real fresh nachos that tasted great. I had the carnitas platter and it was awesome. For $9 I got a plateful of tasty carnitas with beans and melted cheese, and really good spanish rice. Service was great! I'm definitely coming back here. read more

They should call this restaurant Tex-Mex food, not Mexican! It's greasy, cheesy, doughy, and the salsa is very mild. I wouldn't be complaining if they charged less for their food, your better off eating at the taco trucks. read more

This is a painful review to write. I've been coming here for years, and for a good stretch was there just about every other Friday. This was my hidden treasure that I took a few people to, but didn't want to get overcrowded since it's a small family owned place. I truly hope tonights experience was some kind of perfect storm of an off night. First, I noticed they've added a nice covering over the patio, with cute lights and all. It's a nice little upgrade. They've also upgraded the TVs and added a couple more outside, this I could do without. In the past the only people I've notice caring about the TVs are the staff, aside from the occasional sports broadcast that a couple of guys pay attention to. It's just a distraction that nobody needs in a place your at to eat and go, not hang out. Neither of the daughters I'm used to seeing were there tonight, instead there were a couple of younger girls running the front-of-house show. No idea if they're related to the family or not. The one we got stuck with, who was waiting on the indoor tables, had some kind of chip on her shoulder. If you've ever been here you know it isn't exactly a quiet restaurant, and when they have the door open, as they did tonight, the added noise of the semi-trailer trucks passing outside can make it quite noisy inside. As we sat down, the server asked if we wanted anything to drink, but she was making no effort to make herself easily heard and the other person in my party didn't hear her at all. I waited for the server to re-state her question, but she just stood there, so I interjected and restated the question. This interaction set the tone of the evening. The server clearly did not want to be there and made this evident through every action around the room she took. Setting things down roughly, not making any eye contact but rather staring out the window when asking anything from the table, and making no effort to refill drinks, chips, salsa, or anything else without being asked. All of this was bad enough, but then the double-whammies struck. The food was not good. When I don't want a large meal, I get a la cart hard shell tacos here. And I love their tacos. A lot. Today, they managed to overcook all of the tacos to the point that the shells were bitter and the meat was blackened. Normally I'd feel comfortable enough to mention a problem with food to the servers, but not on this night. Even the basket of chips were clearly not anything close to fresh tonight. Nothing felt like the restaurant I've come to love over the last 8 years that I've known it. Lastly, it was very cold inside. This time if year things cool off quickly at night. The two servers complained to each other that it was too cold. Yet the air conditions and fans remain blasting and the door remained open, and they don't have a fan preventing flies from coming in so they were a nuisance throughout the meal. I hope this was just the odd night where everything goes wrong. I will try again, because usually everything is great. But tonight it was awful from start to finish. read more

BEST BREAKFAST BURRITOS EVERRRRR!!!!!!!!! We previously went for lunch and dinner and ordered typical Mexican food entrees, like fajitas (which were so delicious and the meat was juicy) and the #21 which we were told to order wet. Also delicious and full of flavor. But then one day, we woke up and had a craving for a breakfast burrito....we used to go to the Telly's but there were hardly any hashbrowns on the burritos and way too much egg. We ordered American breakfast burritos from Casa Lupitas, one of them I added refried beans to, and EXTRA cheese. We love that they offer the "all meat" option, that includes ham, bacon, and sausage (good sausage too!) Never going anywhere else for breakfast burritos! So glad this place exists! Just went for the first time...this place is great! It's small....but cozy, u almost feel like it is your own private mexican restaurant. I got the combination taco plate which included 2 tacos, refried beans and rice, it was delicious and they didn't skimp on the cheese either. We were starving and needed a place to eat. Yelp.com suggested this place and so we stopped. The waitress was real nice and took our order. I got the chicken tacos with a bowl of beans (they don't use animal products in the beans). The food was good nothing stellar but I did the job.
