We were in the area on a date with my wife and had a few hours to spend together with no kids. We saw this cute place next to the metra train station and thought it would be great. The place large, had an outdoor dining area and overall looked good. Unfortunately that was not the case with the chips and salsa or drinks. We had planned to eat and drink here but after the chips and salsa arrived we had a feeling based on the bland chips and not so flavorful salsa that this was not the place for us. We decided to order mango margaritas and then started searching for other places to eat. The margaritas came out and they tasted like a bad fountain drink with margarita mix. The bartender then came by and let us know he had forgotten to add the most important ingredient in our margaritas.... TEQUILA!!! We took a couple of sips and just asked for our tab so we can settle up and leave. I don't know if they had staffing issues or what but I wouldn't recommend this place unfortunately. read more

The decor is nice. There's a mountain of empty Patron bottles on the window sills. It was kind of suspicious that a bar was empty towards the end of the day though since usually people pile in after work. The server greeted me after taking care of the three other people in the restaurant. I ordered the baja fish tacos because I had a train to catch & figured they would be quick to make. It turns out I was right as they were ready within a few minutes. They honestly were described better on the menu than how they look. They are barebones aside from the bits of tomato, onion, cilantro, green pepper & the mayo. The fish is breaded & fried to a rather crispy texture. The food overall was bland. With the fish tacos you mostly tasted the mayo sauce. While the refried beans & rice can be amazing at other places...they offer nothing, but blandness here. For the price you're paying I expected more. At least they come with free homemade tortillas chips & salsa (salsa is super bland as well.) This place makes you miss the local authentic Mexican restaurants where everything is covered in cilantro, wrapped in foil & they give you a ton of extra tortillas. read more

This is one of our favorite places to go eat. Food is awesome, our favorite Mexican. Great margarita's. Never over crowded. My husband and I have gone there with our kids and just as a couple and everyone likes it every time... The atmosphere is fun and festive. Great bar area with lots TV's. And very very clean always. We love it !!! And have been coming here for over 7 years...And we think it is underrated. I really wanted to like this place and give them grace. With a wife working in the restaurant business during the pandemic I get the challenges associated with being short staffed. And I should have read the other 200+ reviews on Yelp before visiting. I came in with a plan to work on my computer while waiting for my son at swim practice. I planned to order the nachos and the special Tuesday $5 margarita. I walked in (feeling something strange) and waited/wandered around for about 10 minutes trying to find a host. I finally stopped the only server I could see and asked her for a seat. She told me that I could sit anywhere. That's when I realized what was strange: I couldn't easily find a table because there were 8 tables sections completed covered with used dishes and old food. Obviously people had left but because of the way the tables were organized I only had three tables to choose from inside and four outside. I found a spot and then had to wait nearly 15 more minutes until the server came. I even had to go get my own menu from the hostess area (but no host was there). That was also when I realized there was only one server. When she finally arrived with complementary chips and salsa. I told her I wanted the nachos and the $5 margarita. I specifically asked if the $5 were running this Tuesday and she told me yes. The chips I realized had been sitting in an alcove in the back - they were cold and soggy like they get when there's too much oil and they cool off. I ate a couple then stopped because I knew I was getting nachos. When the nachos came after one bite I realize the same old chips were used. I had to grab the server and apologized for the inconvenience but asked for another plate of nachos with new chips because they were cold and soggy. She told me they couldn't only that they could add more cheese and beans. I also asked for the wireless password and what she told me didn't work but I just gave up on that. When I finally asked for the bill I saw that I'd been charged for a large margarita and asked her to change it. She said it was because I ordered the large. She told me the $5 one was the smaller one. I asked her if she remembered me asking for the $5 one to which she said yes and then said sorry and didn't change it. I've been to the Casa in Orland Park and had extremely different/great experiences. This location in Hinsdale was extremely disappointing. When I left three more tables were left unattended and mine, I imagine, made 4. A person had came out to bus a table but left the bin at the table and walked away. I give two stars and a 20% tip only because I have sympathy for the 3 person staff and everyone has bills to pay, but I won't come back again. read more

We got there a bit late around 8pm on a Thursday night and luckily they open til 10pm so we had plenty of time. It was $4 margaritas and we ordered the mango margaritas and the original margaritas. That was good. Guac needed a little more salt. I got the fish tacos and it was fairly dry. My friend got their shrimp and steak fajitas and she said that was good. I can't even leave 0 stars, I would if I could.... they are so short staffed that we have waited 30 minutes for just water and menus and it took 52 minutes to get drinks and sodas from the bar ... my dad got so frustrated he got chips and salsa himself from the back of the stand in a take out box(the picture left here) in fact they are so short staffed and managed horribly that they are ignoring new people that walk in to sit down at this point. My rating of this place is based on the knowledge that this is"Americanized" Mexican food. Came on a week night. It wasn't busy but the wait was rather long. The positives of the place is the open atmosphere and sociable vibe. I also really liked the salsa that came with the chips. Our waiter never refilled either the chips or salsa for us though. The margaritas are good- they aren't very boozy but I don't mind a fruity slushie. You can upgrade to the large size for about an extra dollar so why not? Scrap the outdated dishes on the menu and go buy some cilantro. The location is great (located in an old train station) but the layout of the restaurant is a little wonky. I saw the Casa Margarita as I was driving looking for a place to eat. The place draws you in with the bar and all the TV's. The food was disgusting! I had steak tacos, they tasted like spoiled steak or old meat. So disappointed. The good thing was that I told the waitress/bartender and I was not charged me for the meal. It's made with their private reserve Patron resposado tequila, Grand Marnier and their margarita mix. Yep !! I like mine on the rocks with no salt and little ice and let me tell you if you're not looking to get somewhat of a big buzz I would stick a regular here but for what you pay you definitely get your moneys worth and it is not any bit watered down or weak. Okay so lets get to the food !! shall we. we all ordered different plates to try a little of each, steak, tacos, shrimps, ceviche, fajitas, all served with your typical rice and beans which by the way were very good. every order was very good, served very hot and tasted every bit of what you'd expect from a authentic Mexican restaurant but better!! I understand it's a very busy day and I'm sure the restaurant is overwhelmed which is why I'm giving it three starts as I don't want to hurt a reputation without trying the food but I waited three hours for my meal and they cancelled it at the very last min and now I have nothing to eat and everything else is closed. If you are that overwhelmed then you need to go into uber eats and change your restaurant to "cannot take orders" like a lot of restaurants do when they are overwhelmed. That was a $70 meal and thankfully I am refunded but I waited three hours and the uber driver waited in line for 1.5 hours as they got the message the food was ready for pick up. Again not trying to ruin any reputation here but I think someone needs to be in better charge to managing the online orders and cancelling these way in advance as it is past 9 pm and no where to go for food. read more

Visited on a Saturday night around 9:30 with some friends. The place is fairly large but was pretty barren, considering they close at 11:30. We took a booth and were offered complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was too spicy, so I munched on chips. Spice tolerance differs between people. -1 point Perhaps they had a milder salsa, but I didn't bother to ask. I ordered the Margarita Toro, which is served on the rocks with a Corona beer sticking out of it. There was a long hair in my margarita! -1 point The margarita was pretty good and not overly sweet, despite having a long hair in it. I also ordered the carne asada, which is skirt steak with grilled scallions, rice and refried beans, avocado, sour cream and flour tortillas. The steak was tender and moist, but lacked flavor. The rice and beans were standard fare. I was hungry so I pretty much ate everything on my plate. The service was friendly and pleasant. It seemed like an ok place to grab drinks and some appetizers, as 2 tables next to us were having a girls night out with pitchers of margaritas. I walked out paying around $30 excluding tip. My friend and I just went in here the other night for the first time. It was so much fun! The atmosphere is awesome! We each got a pina colada, and they were delicious, not to mention huge! Also, we got there probably around 11:15, and they were closing at 11:30, but they didn't warn us or anything. I'm so glad they didn't make us leave at closing time because that would have been the brain freeze of THE CENTURY! They let us stay all the way till 11:50! How do you screw up Mexican food this much. The food was mediocre albeit the guacamole was good. and service fair to poor. My guess is the food ingredients are low quality which translates into weak tasting food, although the prices would suggest they are fresh or organic. Don't waste your money on the food. The ambience is good in the old train station and the bar has a wall of TVs, so the main reason to come would be to drink and hang out. Clean with a lively atmosphere. So first off this place is not an authentic Mexican restaurant. It's super Americanized so I'll leave that to your discretion. Also prices listed online are not correct for the Hinsdale location. One day in particular I called and ordered chips and queso (which are very good, only reason why it's getting 3 stars) along with a chicken quesadilla appetizer for pick up. I usually stick to simple food at Americanized Mexican restaurants. A guy told me the food would be ready in 15 minutes. I showed up 20 minutes later and the man that took my order and said that he never put in my order. He said that my food would be ready within 3 minutes. This was on a weekday so the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. I ended up waiting an extra 20 minutes standing at the register. The man apologized one time for the mixup. He didn't even offer to give me a discount either for my food or for a future order. My food cost was around $20 for chips with queso dip and a chicken quesadilla appetizer which is highly overpriced. It was really disappointing and I expected more from a restaurant in Hinsdale. The fact is I live extremely close to this restaurant and will probably order again if I'm craving queso and there aren't any Mexican restaurants in downtown Hinsdale. read more

Good but not great. We've been here twice. Margaritas are delish and gigantic. Food is authentically "american-mexican". The normal items that you would typically see in a suburban Mexican restaurant (nachos, enchiladas, combination plates). The last time we were here, we sat on the "patio" aka sidewalk. Little did I know that we sat in the designated smoking area. Ugh. You might be 20 feet from the door, but you are like 3 feet from my face. There were a few of us who were visually uncomfortable with the level of smoke coming from the obnoxious smokers. At no point did the staff ask them to move. HUGE portions. Great chips. I got the taco salad and it was PHENOMENAL. lots of chicken and fresh ingredients. The tortilla shell was crunchy and well seasoned. My boyfriend got the steak fajita and it was HUGE and delicious. The beans were creamy and the rice was excellent. It comes with a huge scoop of really good guac. The salsa that comes with the free chips was not my favorite but that is because i enjoy Pico de Gallo more than a waterier/beanier salsa- which was what this salsa was like. My first visit here was years & years ago, and all I can remember about the place is that our bill for margaritas was WAY more than our meal. I came back here again for lunch on Sunday to meet a friend as this area is a good middle point for us both to meet up for a meal.
