A little bit of nostalgia for me today. Before CMR, the Dandy Lion Coffey Shop was there - which I had visited several times many, many years ago. I spoke with my waitress and she informed me that CMR are the new owners and that there is no connection to DLCS. Today, I got the Traditional Breakfast with coffee. Everything was delicious. The bacon and hash browns were crispy. The eggs were light. The coffee was a nice medium roast. Service was very friendly and prompt. Dining is available both inside and outside with a couple of tables. No issues with parking since CMR is located in a large shopping center shared with Sprouts Market. Definitely a local vibes establishment.

Returned and had the California omelette. Again, another delicious meal. Their breakfast muffins were amazing.

Whenever I'm in the area, I make it my business to come here and have breakfast or lunch. I feel like my food is always perfectly prepared. Quality food, tons of flavor. The menu has something for everyone from a classic breakfast to specialty dishes. One of my favorite dishes is the Huevos Rancheros. Great service. Easy parking right in front of the restaurant.

My daughter and I wanted breakfast food but slightly after 11:30am. Went in yelp for what was in the area and found this place. There is construction going on in the parking lot, but the place its self is fine. We were seated relatively fast. Deciding what to eat was hard. But we eventually settled on a breakfast burritos. They were playing 90s music (R& B, Alternative, Pop etc). Our burritos were made hot & fresh. I will be back for the shrimp & grits- I'm curious, not everyone knows how to make it!

Between 4 and 5 stars. Might be closer to 5 once the construction in the plaza is finished and if their business practices are more friendly to the consumer. Food was good. Presentation was excellent. Prices for portion size felt okay. Didn't like that there's an additional fee for using credit card- I'm used to small quaint mom and pop doing this unless you spend over $10 or $20 but it didn't match the beautiful restaurant and quality By the way, Google maps led me to the neighborhood on the adjacent street. Didn't realize this plaza was under construction.

Great service and good affordable food! The shrimp and grits were a cross between Mexican flavors and southern style shrimp and grits and definitely delicious. (I added an order of poached eggs) They are Open even though there is construction all around. Interior is clean and neat. Would definitely come again!!

This unassuming little diner that closes at 2pm is truly a gem! If I lived near by I would be coming here regularly. It's unfortunate that the strip mall has everyone under construction. We almost didn't go in based on the outside. Inside looks like a little dressed up diner, complete with plant walls and neon signs. Service was fast and friendly, but it's the food that shines! I've had plenty of shrimp and grits, but this was unexpectedly lovely! I got it the straight up "normal" way, but apparently some people ask for it with cheese and onions. What surprised me was how many big fat shrimps were on top, and they were not overcooked! The Mexican style preparation was delicious! If you are afraid of spice, you'll be ok with this. I didn't think it was spicy at all, but my husband felt it had a little. I hold t make up my mind, so I also got the Menudo. Normally Menudo is only served on Sundays at a lot of restaurants. But here they serve it every day! It's tasty, and comes with your choice of flour or corn tortillas and they give you lime, cilantro, and onions on the side for you to put in as much as you want My husband went for a more traditional breakfast, with scrambled eggs and a waffle. It all looked good. He also got some oatmeal. If you do not like a lot of cinnamon on your oatmeal, make sure to say so. They automatically put a big swath of cinnamon on top of the oatmeal. They served it with brown sugar and raisins. We like cinnamon, and felt the oatmeal was delicious and soothing. I'm including pictures of the menu so you can see all the prices, and I felt that for the serving size, everything was a fair price

Looking for something for a quick date with hubby while in the area and saw they have shrimp and grits on their menu. Decided to give it a try. Service was great since we walked in until we left. That's definitely a plus! Restaurant started to pack as our food arrived at our table. It seems like it's quite popular for the locals. I think you can guess what I ordered, shrimp and grits! My husband had Huevos con chorizo without the beans. Probably not really the right place for shrimp and grits, but won't say it was bad. It's good, but just not the bold flavor I was looking for. I could say the same for the huevos con chorizo. Was not a fan of the salsa. We've tried a better one before. I saw they have menudo in the menu and noticed some people ordered and enjoyed them. Maybe have to try that next time. Overall, food was okay, service was great, and portions were not bad at all. Flavorwise, ymmv! You may end up enjoying it more than I do!

I wouldn't say it is necessarily family friendly, especially small kids, but our kids were fine dining there. They don't have a kids menu but the chef was able to make the kids some simple things they loved - pasta and cheese!! The highlight though was the Porsche shaped butter. That was THE absolute coolest thing ever. It came in a little dish with the bread. My kids and I loved it!!! It was a really nice touch to our meal. The food was really exceptional. One of the best places I've dined in a long time - even including Michelin star restaurants!! The fish is crispy without being overly heavy or greasy, and everything always tastes fresh. Instead of regular French fries, they serve homemade house potato chips, which I actually prefer. They're crispy, salty, and fantastic with the fish. But the green hot sauce might be my favorite thing here. I ate here for the first time today. It was okay, but not great. The ambiance in the restaurant is…read morepretty nice. The staff was friendly. The prices are definitely fair for a restaurant in Southern CA. The main reason I deducted two stars is some of the food quality was severely lacking. First, the garlic mashed potatoes were definitely super old and likely reheated many times. While they tasted okay, there was a thick dark brown hard crust on a big portion of them. Kind of like they have been cooked/reheated in a giant pan, the bottom layer had burnt, and they still scooped that out and served it to customers. It's pretty crazy because they could've just not put that in the bowl and I would've been fine. Also, I'm not sure about the green onions they put on them, that seems kinda odd. The pulled pork sandwich is what caused me to deduct another star. The bun was just like they pulled the bun out of a bag from the store and served it as is. It wasn't buttered or toasted or anything. It was just a very plain bun. There is not a lot of meat on the sandwich either. So when you bite into it, 80% of what's in your mouth is unseasoned plain bun. If they would've at least done something to the bun, the sandwich would've been a lot better. I think 3/5 stars is the perfect score for this place. I will likely try it again, but if the food quality is not better next time, it will be my last.

The interior is neat and clean. There are various types of seating (bar; table; booth; high-tops; communal), and plenty of screens to watch sports. On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs.
