I got a vegetable omelette with an everything bagel and she got the big breakfast with pancakes, eggs and potatoe chunks. It was alright. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Well, I can see why so many people give this place five stars! The customer service is prompt and friendly, and the owners come around to greet everyone in the restaurant. This is by far some of the friendliest service that I've ever encountered. I must have been asked if I needed anything at least four times during my half hour visit. Talk about attentive! I started off with the cream of asparagus soup, which was amazing. It was thick and chunky - full of baby carrots and chunks of asparagus. It was so creamy and rich in flavor I ended up getting some to go. The reuben fell a little short of my expectations though. There was barely any 1000 island, the corned beef was a little too salty, and the rye was slightly charred which left a bitter after taste. It was still a decent sandwich, just not the best. The delicious little piece of complimentary cake that was served with my order definitely made up for any shortcomings with my sandwich. I came here during lunch and the place was jammed packed. My food was still brought out to me in a very reasonable amount of time though. I'm looking forward to my next visit so I can try one of the other sandwiches on their menu. Visiting Columbus for a music festival and was trying to catch a quick bite in the area before a flight, and we stumbled across this hidden gem! We came in a little closer to their closing hour and had a fear we would be turned away or would receive terrible/ low quality service and food as a punishment for coming late. At Scotty's it was the complete opposite. We were all greeted with a warm welcome at the door, and received the sweet hospitality all around from the staff as well as the manager/owner. We were never rushed, the menu was explained perfectly as well as recommendations, and above all, the food perfectly matched the service. Everyone was absolutely content with their food choices and incredibly impressed by the amount of flavor that was presented in the dishes. The tomato basil soup was recommended and by the end of the meal, there was not a drop of soup left in that bowl! We look forward to coming back to Scotty's next year as well as every year for our new after festival tradition, and will recommend this to all of our friends and those willing to hear about this astonishing establishment. :) read more

First of all, I'm not sure why it took me 6 years of living in Columbus before trying this place out... Wow! My loss, I guess. This morning, I finally decided to make the drive and try out this well reviewed "Cafe" or dinner (because that's pretty much what it is). I was looking for a good, quick, breakfast with lots of options for food, and Yelp! said this place is one of THE TOP in Columbus. Well, they're right! As soon as I pulled up in the little plaza, I could tell this place had a great "home feel" because of how subtle the location is. When I walked in, I was greeted by the friendliest of restaurant staff I have met IN OVER 1.5 years. I'm sorry, but this pandemic has made everyone more grumpy and it seems like it's hard to provide good customer service, when people don't even want to TRY and keep a job. This place is not that. Both people that helped me today were SSSSSOOOOOO NICE, polite, friendly and helpful. They were enthusiastic about their service and their customers. Very welcoming. They also seemed surprised that it was my first time here, and also took the time to ask where I had heard about the place and what brought me in this time... Service was very quick and efficient but I was not rushed. One of the servers took the time to recommend 2-3 things off the menu that I absolutely SHOULD try. I decided to go with The Big Breakfast. An All-American plate beautifully arranged with 2 Eggs, Home Fries, 2 pieces of sausage (but you can have bacon by choice) and 2 amazing looking pieces of French Toast (but you can have pancakes by choice). Ugh. It was GOOD. Nothing fancy, just GOOD simple food. French Toast was made of Challah bread, which (IMO) is the best way to make French Toast. My only complaint... THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD, AND THE SERVICE WAS SO EXCELLENT, that I actually forgot to take a picture before devouring the whole thing... I'm so sorry, fellow Yelpers! I will come back & I will try some of their lunch menu items as well as something different for breakfast because it all sounded SOOO GOOD! Even while I sit here still, writing this review, I have been asked 3-5 times in the past 10min. if I needed anything else, a refill on my drink or coffee, and if my experience was acceptable. The daily special is $5; you can't beat that! The food is great, too. The day I went, the special was prime rib, savory bread pudding, glazed carrots, and the small dessert included was a lemon poppy seed cake. I'd never heard of savory bread pudding, so I was intrigued. I thought it was basically like a stuffing, and it was tasty. The prime rib was cooked just right with pink across the entire piece. And there were about three pieces on my plate. That was more than I could eat. It did have a lot of fat, which may be why they included several pieces. I wasn't really impressed with the dessert, but hey it was small and I didn't pay anything extra for it, so I wasn't too upset about that. I would go back to try some of the other dishes they are known for. Even if you don't get the special, the prices are not too bad. read more

If i ordered it again I would just skip the eggs and ask for sour cream, 1000 island dressing, or maybe some gravy as it was a little on the dry side but otherwise it was very tasty. I have never been a fan of a Reuben, but I am always willing to try it as I never turn down food. WOW, this was the best tasting, freshest Reuben I have ever eaten. I will definitely be ordering one of these on a future visit. The daily special - it was plated in such a way that it looked like it came from a fine dining restaurant. The gravy was awesome, the pork was delicious, and the mashed potatoes were perfect. FREE - I almost forgot to tell you that every meal comes with free dessert. Now don't go crazy, its just a little dish of something special they made for the day. Its actually the perfect size dessert that accompanies the meal. When I was done eating I almost didn't have room for this little dessert, but it was the perfect size for what little room I had left in my stomach. Also since it was my first time, they offered us a half order of their french toast on the house. It was very tasty and probably the best French toast I have ever had. Wow! Where do I begin? If I could give more stars I would! I am a potter and after doing studio time with a friend we are always looking for somewhere new to eat. I called ahead the day before and talked to Gina , to make sure of location and hours. We were greeted by our servers and treated as if we were old friends. Our waitress was super nice and an older couple, who I'm assuming are the owners, checked on us multiple times. It's almost like your visiting your grandparents house because they were super sweet and brought us free brownies and chocolate covered strawberries. We went on a Monday afternoon and there was a pretty steady crowd all the way up until they close at 2 p.m. I got the french toast which was awesome. It tasted like a warm and fluffy cinnamon roll. It was delicious and super filling. I could honestly have gotten the half order and been full. They also have turkey bacon which was a pleasant surprise and it tasted super fresh. I have a weird thing about strip malls. I'm not sure why. I'm always skeptical about trying new places in strip malls, but this place completely blew my mind! Scotty's Cafe made my heart so happy! It reminded me of the diner that my grandma and grandpa used to take me to when I was little! It has such a welcoming and homey feel right when you walk in the door. The inside was clean and well decorated. There were also some cute pictures up on the wall. The booth that my friend and I chose to sit at was meant for two people but I felt a little cramped. Our server was such a sweetheart! She took such great care of us. She even gave us two free sugar cookies! They were so delicious and just hit the spot! The food was incredible. I got the Jewish Omelet which had smoked salmon and onions in it. This omelet was so incredible! I have never had smoked salmon in eggs before and I'm so glad I decided to try it! I also had a bite of my friends chocolate chip French toast because it looked so good. It was very thick and perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This is the first time I've eaten in Scotty's. I've had carry out previously. Both times the food was excellent! Gina was a joy to talk with. I was accompanied by Jo. Everyone knows her in the restaurant. Today I selected the Club Sandwich. It arrived before I could blink my eyes. I was so hungry that I forgot to take a photo. I had rye bread. The Club was so big that I could not eat it all in one setting. The meat was delicious! The bread was very fresh! Oh my goodness, it was so good. The cleanliness of Scotty's is second to none! The tables and chairs were sanitized prior to us being seated. There are mobile screens between tables that allow customers to feel safe from any Covid-19 transfer from other customers. All staff wore masks. Previously I had a to-go meatloaf dinner. It was to die for! There were 2 huge slices of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, a roll and a wonderful salad. I sliced the meatloaf in half, making 4 slices because it was so thick. The salad was fresh and very tasty. I will definitely get it again! My next venture will be the open-face meatloaf sandwich. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Although it was my first time eating inside, My name was remembered and I was treated like a long lost friend. It's pretty much impossible to not like this place between the great food and the awesome customer service. It's always packed, yet it hardly takes any time to get a table. They have the ability to flip tables down to a science along with the amazing food they're slinging out the kitchen. This past time I went I had the Reuben, which in mine, and many other people's opinion, is the best thing on the menu. The bread is delicious, the corned beef is just about perfect, and the kraut and Thousand Island bring everything together to form the perfect sandwich. On a side note, the fries you can get with them are great too! As I said before, the service is great. You'll never be waiting on anything despite the servers running all over the place. Once they found out that we were rookies, they started bringing us other food to try. Couldn't decide between breakfast or lunch so we ordered an omelette and a Reuben to share. Sonya and Bam got breakfast. I've never seen my thirteen year old son eat so much or rave about food like he did at Scotty's. He crushed those pancakes. Then, the French toast. Wow. Unbelievable. You have to try it - unless you hate delicious things. I got the dishes they're known for - a Reuben and tomato basil soup. Easily one of the best Reuben's I've had - and I've had my fair share. Everything was absolutely perfect. Then, Scott himself came out and celebrated Bam's birthday. Without too much detail, I can tell you he went above and beyond, and we'll be forever grateful. Scott, you're a giant among men and we appreciate you so much. To top it all off, we got some home baked pastries to go and they look amazing. The only problem?
