Went back to try the fried catfish basket. Myself and my wife had tried the grilled catfish and loved it. On ash Wednesday 2/13/13 we decided to try the 6 fish fry basket. "Delicious", the fish had just the right amount of seasoning and bread, the french frys were great, and served with hushpuppies. Great flavor! Can't wait to try some of their other seafoods on their menu. One thing we love about this place are their prices, very reasonable and affordable. Not fancy...but the food is awesome! They bread the fresh fish as it is ordered. I love their shrimp and oysters. The rest of the family loves the catfish. They have the cylindrical hush puppies you can dip in butter. They also have pickled tomatoes and fried green tomatoes. Sometimes, we will order a basket of fried frog legs to share. Of all the wonderful items on the menu, I have always come here exclusively for their fried catfish. I got the three-piece catfish with fries and hush puppies for take out. The catfish turned out to be so thin that I was basically eating fried corn meal. What was actually fried could not even be identified it was so minimal. I have enjoyed some great meals at this place but I will never get takeout there again. I would normally have returned the meal if I was eating there. The food was really good my husband and I were very impressed. The place is small and service is a little slow, as the lady at the counter also brings the food out. The baskets came with a lot of fries and the fish were a great size. The best part is the food tastes cooked to order it comes out steaming hot and the flavor was very yummy! I liked this place. I only knew of it because my nephews (5 and 10) love it. I went with my brother and his family. It is not anything fancy. I have been there twice. The first time I ate catfish with fries. It was good. I know this sounds silly but there hush puppies take me back to when I was younger. They have longer style hush puppies. The second lunch I ate catfish and a baked potato. I enjoyed this much more. It is not anything flashy but they have a very detailed menu and the food is good. One Sunday, I didn't feel like cooking and I remembered this place right next to Aldi Food Market. I looked up the menu and called in my order ahead of time. By the time I finished shopping it was ready for pick-up. The restaurant is decorated in ecletic ocean and fish memorabilia and is comfortable. It doesn't stick of fish grease, which is always a plus. You order or pick up from the counter and my order was ready. They included my request for extra tartar sauce too. My catfish and buffalo wings (pretty spicy!) were good and Hubby's catfish and shrimp were good for him. Portions are pretty good and it was all still hot on eth way home. This was my first time trying this place and I already cannot wait to go back. I had a taste for catfish, but since I don't live in the area I wasn't familiar with the restaurants. I googled "catfish near me" and this was one of the places that came up. I'm glad I chose this one. I called in a to-go order because I was in a rush and the food was ready to go when I arrived. After a day of cleaning the house I had a hunger for catfish. I've been to Catfish House many times but it was always take out. Today I decided to eat in. The catfish and fries were good, as usual. Nothing special about it. Hot like it should be. Tasted good. Minor: I wish the portions of catsup and tarter sauce were more so I wouldn't have to ask. No catsup on the table, just hot sauces. No biggie. What I'd like to see change: when I walked in the dinning room was nearly empty. There was a booth of four people eating and having a good time and a table with two young men sitting and talking. There were two guys behind the counter. As I walked up the two guys behind the counter walked into the kitchen area. I stood at the counter for about a minute before one of the young men sitting at the table, who I thought were customers, came to the front and waited on me. He didn't say anything to me. I told him hi and he barely audibly said hi back -seemed annoyed that I greeted him. I ordered and paid and went to find a place to sit. The family was in a booth on my right so I figured a booth on my left would be good to avoid them, however out of the four empty booths none of them were bused. I decided to sit as the least messy table and I wiped it down myself. As I sat down to wait for my food, I took note of the other tables in the middle. I noticed at least three tables hadn't been bused, the floor was dirty, and the two guys were sitting back at the table while work went undone. I'd like to see them trained better on customer service and properly keeping the restaurant clean and enjoyable for the customers. After about 8-10 minutes of sitting there eating my good food, they started to clean up the tables and when done, they sat back down in the booth. The floor remained unswept the entire time I ate there. Please keep the place clean. Especially during a slow time. Thank you! read more

I have found my new favorite place to eat and obsess over. Much better than Flying Fish. Catfish is thick and lightly breaded in cornmeal. Everything was cooked fresh. Moved here from Colorado and noticed this place. Made a call in order and they said it would be ready in ten minutes. Got there and the place was clean and people where nice. Our food was ready and we got it back to the house and started to eat. Overall it was really good.I probably would say the only complaint was that the catfish needed more seasoning. I was staying in a hotel nearby and looking for a place to eat. I LOVE Cajun food, so I gave it a shot. You walk in and nothing is on the walls, well a TV, but no menus, no decoration, nothing. Well there is a random fish trophy or something. Where you'd think you walk up and order is what looks like it used to be a bar? The taps for beer aren't connected to anything. I usually don't care and as long as they have good food I press on. The lady was Cary nice but she seemed overwhelmed. There was 1 table full, 1 guy waiting for his to-go order and me...not too crowded. I ordered Louisiana red beans and rice, can't go wrong there right? Where a lot of people have a sweet tooth, I have a salt tooth. The saltier the better. I once had enchiladas that someone made wrong and put 4X the recipe for salt, it was amazing! So the red beans and rice can quickly. First bite, whoa!! It was like a salt lick. I could get through it all. I gave up half way through. Can't get red beans and rice right at a Cajun place? I paid and left. The tables felt like they had been sprayed with disinfectant 40 time and were now sticky. The whole experience made me wish I went to the pew wei across the street. I won't be coming back. Only 2 stars because the lady working there was giving it her best but she didn't know the menu, the place or how to swipe a credit card, might have been her first day, but she was giving it her all, have to respect that.
