Needed some food for thanksgiving night and decided to order takeout from here! I will start off by saying we ordered 6 things and it was only about $75. This fed 4 people for about 2 days and then some... totally good price for the amount of food! - chicken lo mein (3.5/5) - shrimp fried rice (4/5) - string beans (5/5) - salt and pepper calamari (5/5) - beef and broccoli (5/5) - Kung Pao Three Deligh served w/ white rice (3.5/5) (not bad just sweeter than we thought) When we went to go pick it up, it was such a fun high energy ambiance. There was karaoke on one side, a full bar on the other, and everyone seemed happy and well taken care of. The service was quick and efficient!

Food was ok. Table was dirty and had dried rice and hadn't been washed down. Drunk guy at the bar was being weird and coordinating my water order to the waitress. I would give the place a second chance to revise upward because the food was fairly tasty and the menu is huge. Certainly not a fancy place but the price was right and the portions were big.

absolutely love this place! The egg rolls were crispy and flavorful, the wings were huge (seriously--best I've had in a while), and everything we ordered tasted amazing. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and really care about the flavor. On top of that, the prices were very reasonable, which makes it an easy decision to come back again. If you're craving Chinese food that hits all the right notes--this is the place. I'll definitely be back!

Hit it right after Cathay Pacific in Quincy. I'm told that the owners of the two restaurants are siblings but they're different restaurants. The food is different. Much more casual atmosphere here, with a sports bar feel. None of the mid century Chinese American architectural touches. But definitely old school menu. Fried Wontons: Crisp, simple, and a bargain. Low price, high volume. The generosity would be a trend. Combo Plate: You can get a combo any time; they have fixed combinations and a pick-your-own combo that allows flexibility and variety. We went with a 3-item (plus pork fried rice) combo with Chicken Fingers, Shrimp & Lobster Sauce, and Spareribs on the bone. Spareribs: You get 3 or 4 of various sizes on the combo; I took one large one and found it meaty, somewhat juicy, and tasty with a nice glaze and char. Chicken Fingers: A decent amount of them on the combo. Puffy and crispy, with nearly as much batter as chicken. Not bad, not good. Shrimp and Lobster Sauce: rather than crowding the combo plate, they serve this on a separate stainless steel plate from the old days, minus the lid. Large crumbles of soft, stewy pork. Gentle texture, aromatic flavor. Dark but less "black" tasting and less salty than most. I like the black tasting, but I liked this one a lot. The shrimp were 4 large pieces with tails still on. Solid item. Pork Fried Rice: The rice on the combo was pretty good; no better. Dark but a little dry and a little bland. Not a problem, just not noteworthy. Subgum Pork Fried Rice: What a difference a few vegetables make. The a la carte rice was MUCH better, much fresher, and full of life. Very good. Chicken Wings With Black Bean Sauce: Back in the 1970s, you'd see this on every Chinese menu, but it's getting harder to find nowadays. This was an excellent rendition, with a very complex and flavorful sauce on the wings. There must've been well over a dozen of them on the plate, which was nice. But it was the nice flavor that made these a winner even though not crisp.

Delicious Hot and sour soup!

Once again, I see YELPers lambasting and hating on this joint, but I found it quite pissah. Not all is perfect by any means, but it pegs the ghetto meter for a fun and yumski old-school experience that includes the not-so-great stuff that is an essential part of the legit old-school experience of Chinese American. There has to be a certain amount of inherent jankyness that makes it legit and CC has it. Let's do some deets: It has a bar side with lots of regulars, so it appears, and drinking is heavy here. Lots of varicose red faces and boozed-out-looking folk playing hours-long Keno and scratch tix sessions with drinks by their side monitoring the many TV screens displaying their hopeful winnings... The dining side is simple with bric-a-brac decor peppered about. Gambling is rampant here and scratch tickets are everywhere. The waitress was no frills but wicked competent. It took a wicked long time (at least an hour) for food to come out, but this is the kitchen's doing and not her fault. The food all appeared more-or-less freshly made with the Pork Fried Rice being the exception as it was however old and seemed somewhat fossilized. Prices are cheap. I do reckon my dish was the star of the show at 17 bucks. It was the Cathay Chef Special which was beef, chicken, shrimp(s) and lobster (one VERY teenie-sized piece, literally a bit bigger than a grain of rice) but I was OK with this since everything else was plentiful AF and the assorted veggies were absolutely wonderful. The meat appeared to be real meat from what I could tell, and all was smothered in a Brown Boom-Boom Sauce. It was so yumski that I ate every last jot of this wicked-mental platter, and it came with "free" white rice to boot. The pots of tea were free too as was the bottled spring water. The other peeps had Combo Plates of various kinds with piles of the somewhat fossilized Pork Fried Rice, and Fried Wontons and 'Goons were going off everywhere. Uncle Wally had the Yo-Yo Kow Pang with a House Goo-Goo Sauce. He liked it... it's food... The place seems very community-involved as there were photos everywhere of charity-type stuff and local sports leagues depicted with sponsorships and stuff from Cathay. Good Juju here and good Karma. I was truly on a nutritional high after this meal and I do recommend Cathay Center for hangry YELPers. I do reckon that the Cathay Chef Special is the most bueno of all dishes but I'm sure others are good as well. I do suggest staying away from Combo Platters as these are most likely to be luke-warm old foodstuffs and containing the Petrified Fried Rice. Peep it out, bro.

After years of dining this location the FOOD and service has never been consistently good and hit or MISS VERY SPOTTY! But I keep given this location the benefit of the doubt and the reason it's still open and management seems to believe that their regular customers come because there are no other GATHERINGS spots to eat . Let's mention the food! The older male (MASKED) waiter seemed friendly, I asked if the Sizzling Platter a good recommendation and he did....well I had a guest and when it arrived IT WAS NOT SIZZLING NOR WAS IT APPEALING! The sauce was totally congealed and thick and clumpy! The the green peppers were wilted and warm. The chicken dry and tuff, Plus had a bad odor and the rice on the side was so clumpy and stiff and warm which told me that it was just sitting and not stirred or prepared fresh. My guest had a similar experience and the old waiter never came back to ask or even replace our empty water glasses till we were done. The place was not busy al all in the dining area. I did notice he was maybe on his phone across the room by the kitchen entrance. Then with out asking cause our food was not consumed totally he brought paper containers to fill our own plates which usually our past waitress from previous dinners would come take our plates snd return it nicely packed in a bag and also asked if we wanted duck sauce, then the waiter just returned with the bill and NO FORTUNE COOKIES AND PINEAPPLE TO FINISH OUR DINNER! Which has always without fail was brought to the table! That Was the turning point. The waiter never came back to see if we needed change...this action must be intentional so the customer gets frustrated and just leave and over TIP! Which we did.... That waiter should be ashamed of himself serving regular customers sub standard service and having food come out of the kitchen NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES OR DESCRIPTION from Menu. The staff seems friendly but it's not sincere, we need to support RESTAURANTS THAT ARE GLAD FOR YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY! New Staff or New Management might benefit by a big CHANGE! This is the worst review I have ever done in all the years of dining! But places like this depends of area regulars that don't really care of the food or service since it's a gathering spot. THEY GET FRIENDLY WITH THE STAFF. Well, the summer months are almost here so a new dining spot is on the horizon! What a waste of good money for sub standard food and service! Not Acceptable anymore! I am all for supporting local long time establishments in this area especially when you see photos and trophies around this place you would sincerely think Managment would take more pride in serving their Customers and supporters with the very best food and most importantly GREAT ATTENTIVE STAFF! It's like they lack energy to make any effort and so loyal patrons should find another eatery!

Growing up in Boston, I have my favorite spots to go to. However, one of my favorite spots closed down recently which led my Bestfriend to find us a new option for Chinese. In walks Chinatown Restaurant in Weymouth. Doing a search in the area, we discovered Chinatown Restaurant in Weymouth. The reviews were raving about how good the food was, so I had to go. Driving up, it's your typical carry-out. Nothing special, but it's easy to find and there is ample parking. After taking a look at the menu, I decided on the Pu Pu Platter for 1 with a Sm Lobster Sauce. I placed my preset at the window, paid, and took a seat. The location was very clean. The ambiance is very take-out suggestive and the lighting is slightly dim, but not in a romantic way... After a few minutes, my food was ready and my order was called. From the moment I took ownership of the bag I was excited. The smells that were coming out of the bag were amazing. I could literally smell my entire order and it had my mouth watering. As the Pu Pu Platter provides a variety, I will admit that EVERYTHING that comes in the platter was AMAZING (I don't eat shrimp so I can't speak on the shrimp). Beef Teriyaki - Meaty. Moist. Well flavored. Perfectly done. Perfect size. Chicken Wings - Flavorful and Perfectly Done. Nice size. Boneless Ribs - These steal the show as they are beyond amazing. Sweet and Salty, meaty with not a lot of fat. Perfect amount of sauce. These were the highlight of my plate. Chicken Fingers - Thick. Battered well. Great with the Sweet & Sour Sauce. Not hard. Egg Roll - HUGEEEEEEEEEEEE. Fresh. Flavorful and Crispy. The Lobster Sauce was good as well. It was standard for a carry out but the flavor profile was that of a quality restaurant. It was as meaty as it was saucy. All I know is that I am sold on Chinatown Restaurant in Weymouth and will be returning every time I come back home. LoL.

I think when you start a review with "the person who took my order was very, very nice". You know…read moreit's not going to be a really positive review. So we ordered food from Chinatown Restaurant and like I said the person who took our order was very, very nice. We got General Gau's "chicken" with an Egg Roll and Chicken Fingers. I'll start with the Chicken Fingers which were as good as I have ever had. They were awesome. That's the good now for not so good part of the review.... The egg roll had this sugary taste to it. I've eaten hundreds if not thousands of egg rolls in my lifetime and never before have I tasted an egg roll that had this sugary taste to it. Not sweet but like someone doused it with sugar before cooking it. Not a good taste sensation either. The General Gau's Chicken had dark meat which I am not a fan of. It also looked and tasted more like pork than chicken and had this funky taste to it that did not enhance it good. Thankfully it was not very spicy. The pork fried rice had lots of pork but the rice tasted very bland. It only had one slice of Mushroom and one slice of onion. No egg bits. No bean sprouts no anything that usually makes the rice taste better. It looked like it was the bottom of the barrel; which considering it was an hour before they closed it probably was. I struggled to eat about 1/8 of my meal then threw it away. We also got Lo Mein and that was also bland as heck. I gave them three stars based on how good the Chicken Fingers were and how nice the people who work there are. Summary: I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it was an hour before they closed and try them again. I struggled to give them three stars because like I said earlier the chicken fingers were good and the people who work there were very, very nice. I would say avoid them an hour or two before closing.

Totally incongruous with the surrounding environment. Walked in... nothing fancy. Maybe 5 tables. The food was just not good. I had the big wonton soup ( the one with all the extras ). Walked out of a fantastic yoga class at Centerville Yoga and went over to find an eggroll. After reading all the reviews, I figured, what could the harm be. Let's try the eggroll and take it from there. Many years (1980's) there was a Chinese restaurant in Shrewsbury, before it was the gross Chumlees (defunct, THANK GOODNESS!). They had THE BEST eggrolls I had ever had. As much as I love Lotus Blossom, their eggrolls are good, but never THOSE. So, I walk into GHZR and ask for a large order (=2) eggrolls. And steamed peking ravioli (AH HOW I MISS MARLBOROUGHS China Taste, an unfortunate victim of Covid, who had ALMOST perfect eggrolls and the best peking ravioli, the ones my toddler grew into a teen eating...). One of the owners was so cute when she said "Our eggrolls are ok. Eggrolls are one of those things that people have one they love and then they get that one stuck in their heads forever. And our peking ravioli are good, but maybe not the best you've had. I will give you the best ginger sauce. Mine is better than my uncles!"... Out came my order to go and out I went. Into the car. Hungry. Pulled it out. Munched on it. AND ANGELS SANG! What are you talking about girl? YOU GOT IT NAILED! TLDR: Potentially…read moreone of my favorite Chinese restaurants in all of Massachusetts! Beautiful interior, centrally located, and delicious, high-quality food. Will definitely find a reason to come back here soon. ------ FOOD: 1. [MUST TRY] STIR-FRIED CABBAGE W/ PORK BELLY (5/5) Presentation was phenomenal (in a clay pot with its own burner underneath to keep it hot). The portion was much larger than expected, and most importantly, it tasted incredible. Generous amounts of pork in this, and the sauce was authentic and addicting. 2. SCALLION CHICKEN (5/5) Another great choice. This was a huge portion with lots of tender chicken, and the scallion was present without being overpowering. 3. CRISPY BEEF WITH FRIED DOUGH STICKS (5/5) I was expecting Chinese you tiao but these were actually the small, ultra crispy manhua twists! Paired with the beef, this was a large and unique dish that I loved. The crispiness of the mahua made this a textural delight to eat. 4. MANGO SAGO DESSERT (5/5) Big portion, wonderful assortment of toppings including grapefruit, mango, sago, and popping balls over a creamy dessert soup base. 5. PEKING DUCK (4/5) I think I'm a tough critic since I just came back from Beijing and had so much Peking duck there. We ordered the half portion here and it had a generous amount of meat for not being the full portion. There were an assortment of accompaniments, including pineapple (new to me) and sugar (like the Beijing style) which were welcome additions. The wrappers were steamed well and didn't curl up on the edges. Overall this was a solid Peking duck, but the meat wasn't as standout as I was hoping. 6. STEAMED PORK SOUP DUMPLING (4/5) Solid soup dumplings. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely hit the spot. 7. SAUTEED PEA SPROUTS (4/5) Another solid classic. 8. PORK MEATBALL IN CRAB MEAT SAUCE (4/5) This was the most unique thing we ordered. I've never had a shi zi tou meatball with crab meat sauce before. The meatball itself was large (maybe size of a tennis ball), tender, and fatty, as it should be. It was then drowned in a generous lake of traditional crab meat sauce. If you're not a fan of crab meat then this might be a bit too fishy for you, but honestly it all combined surprisingly well and I grew to like this dish more and more with each bite. I wasn't the biggest fan to start, but by the end I wouldn't have minded getting another one! ------ AMBIANCE / ENVIRONMENT: * The interior has the classic Asian style of decor, but you can tell it was recently built / renovated because everything felt new and fresh. * The ambiance also felt more new-school luxurious vs. the typical Asian establishments that are more no-frills with as many tables packed in as possible * You're still somewhat close to the tables around you, but it's not overwhelming during lunch time and we still felt like we had enough space regardless * There's a bar area at the front of the restaurant and then a large, spacious dining room in the back * This is a great place for a date or a meaningful family gathering * Right outside is Boston Common, making this restaurant very well-located for lunch before or after a nice day in the park. While there's lots of parking around the park, a spot itself can be hard to come by, so your best bet might be to use the nearby parking garage instead ------ SERVICE: * Overall the service was great and quick. They did forget our tea, but when we asked for it later they apologized profusely and were quick to bring it out for us * This place fills up quickly so be sure to come early if you don't have a reservation or if you're a big enough group, make a reservation for your desired dining time
