I was in Texas for a work event and my colleagues invited me to have some Texas BBQ at Cattleleack Barbeque. When we arrived around 1pm there was a line out the door. After getting inside I could tell why. The BBQ smell hits you as you open the door and it smelled sooooo good. They had a giant menu written onto the wall. Some of the meats were sold out. We debated for a bit and then decided to do a group order. Our Group of 7 people ordered the Cattleleack Platter and sides of burnt end beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and Mac and cheese. Oh and don't forget to ask for cornbread too. Inside tey had large tables and benches to sit at and we secured our spot. The food was delicous. The Beef Rib was huge and melted in my mouth. The brisket was amazing and seasoned well. Everything tasted great. Everyone ate til they were full and we still had leftovers. I ate them later at night and they were still good. This place is pricey, definitely worth a visit.

Food was great and line on friday 945am was not to bad. Nice family run bbq. First bbq place i have been awarded the michele star. Everyone was nice. Food had same price as the other top bbq tx places. Worth the short wait. Sides were great

The smoked meats are some of the best around. We had brisket, sausage and even tried the ribeye. Staff here is top notch. They serve local Wagyu and smoke everything onsite. The meats are certainly juicy and smoked to perfection. I understand a bit more about people lining up for this food. That's just about where goes from great to ok. The BBQ sauce on the table was meh. The mustard sauce though gets a pass for sure and hit all the right notes. I guess even BBQ is very subjective like sushi. Some people like it and others don't. In this case it was the sauce that brought the experience down. I won't be back but that just leaves room for the next person.

Burnt end sandwich & potato salad. Today meat was not tasty at all!

Service was good & friendly. This is the first time I got a bad batch but it's usually really good! Got there by 10:30 so only had a small wait. I don't know what this is but it's not burnt ends! Also, every other time I've been there they tell me that I can't get a burn and sandwich and today they said they would do it, which is also kind of funny. Hopefully it was just one bad day for them..

    Potato salad was really bad

This spot in North Dallas has been on my radar for a while. Many good reviews are posted. As soon as I touched down in Dallas on a Thursday, I started making my way there. I got there around lunch time and found street parking. Upon entering, a small portion of the left of the restaurant is for ordering and the right side is for dining. There was plenty of seating area with large tables. The lunch time crowd build up was definitely in effect but the line wasn't long. While waiting in line, my focus was on deciding what to order. I always get brisket as a benchmark to compare with all other bbq places. When my turn came I ordered a brisket sandwich, a turkey sandwich, potato salad, coleslaw, and 2 beef ribs. The worker taking my order replied that I probably want one beef rib. It did not occur to me that these were the huge dino ribs at around $40 a pound. I took his advice and the one rib was more than enough. Everything was packed up to go and my total was $104. The one beef rib was a bulk of the price. Ok, so three of us tried some of the bbq and the sides. No great feedback was given from them. I got to try everything. The brisket was tender but not flavorful. The coleslaw flavor was undesirable as well as the potato salad. The smoked turkey had a good smoke flavor to it. The beef rib had more marbled fat than meat throughout most of it, however it did have a nice black pepper seasoning to it. The bbq sauce was not great either. Hopefully they were having an off day, but I doubt it and the cost of everything was too much for it not to be great.

Everything is great here. Try everything

I've eaten here a handful of times and each time was just as good as the last. After trying numerous top rated bbq joints in TX, Cattleack in my opinion is the best and most consistent. The brisket and meaty ribs are always going to be tender. The hatch chile mac and cheese is a must and so is their cornbread. The lines are definitely worth it. They start selling out of meats and sides within hours of opening, but always enough brisket!

Definitely one of the best BBQ in DFW! Limited hours but we had gone around 12 on Friday and no line. If you sign up for their emails they'll notify when there's no line, too. Softest Dino rib I've had in DFW yet, so juicy! Sides were great too which makes the difference always. Will definitely be back, 100% worth making it in the limited hours if you get the chance

We heard about Cattleack. They have limited hours to mostly weekdays, but with our luck they open the 1st Saturday of the month and we flew into Dallas that day! Once we got off the plane, we rushed to our rental car and made our way north to Cattleack. We got there around 1pm. The line wasn't too bad, it was still outside and into the parking lot. Nothing was sold out yet, until we inched closer to the front. They sold out of burnt ends, bologne, beef ribs, and then all the sides except slaw. Since it was close to closing time they were giving a ribeye special, buy one get one free. It was a good deal but a lot of food, so we didn't get it. We ended up getting pork ribs, brisket, and turkey, with slaw and their complimentary bread and pickles. Their pork ribs were delicious, so was the turkey. The brisket was chopped up in pieces, which I wasn't fond of the chopping. My favorite was the pork ribs and turkey. They are heavy on the pepper, so it gave it a little kick if you ate a lot. Probably not good for younger kids. I love it though. They also give you their soft bread for free and I believe their pickles are homemade. Pickles, jalapeños and pickled onions were very good and complemented the meats. I do wish they open more hours though... so that people can try everything! No alcohol sold here, but you can bring your own. Plenty of seating inside and some outside. Parking is limited in the lot and lots of street parking. They close early too, at 2. So many limitations for good bbq. Wish they capitalize their worth and open up more.

Bbq plate! Look at those pork ribs!

Right off the airplane and drove to Cattleack. Arrived around 1pm. Beef ribs ran out and so did all the sides except last of coleslaw. We got turkey, pork ribs, brisket and slaw. Super peppery but I like it, may be too peppery for people. Bread and pickles included. Free and the best bread Homemade pickles, jalapeños and onions Plenty of seating

    Inside with fun decor!

I wish I had a better experience at Cattleack but unfortunately I left feeling a bit disappointed, especially after having to wait for a very long time. Since they have very limited hours on the weekdays, I finally managed to visit with my fiance on a Thursday. We arrived at around 11:30am and ended up waiting about 40 minutes before we even made it inside. Once inside, there is more waiting in line until you finally get to the counter to order your food (this took us probably another 20 minutes or so). By the time we got to order, they were already out of a few items including the cornbread which was a side that I was very much looking forward to. So we ended up getting the brisket, original sausage, and burnt ends along with the hatch chili mac & cheese, potato salad, and Mexican street corn. Among the meats, the sausage and burnt ends were both great and I especially enjoyed the burnt ends and how tender each piece was. Unfortunately the brisket fell flat for me; it wasn't very tender at all and underwhelmed me compared to how amazing the brisket is at Hutchins. For the sides, I loved the hatch chili mac & cheese and thought the potato salad and street corn were pretty standard. Overall I don't know that I would come back, and I would much rather visit Hutchins which has way better opening hours!

Brisket, burnt ends, broccoli salad, sausage, and macaroni and cheese
    Mia F.

Great brisket, super juicy and flavorful. The burnt ends were amazing too, definitely a 5/5. The sausage was good, but I've had better elsewhere, so I'd give it a 3.8/5. The broccoli salad pairs really well with the salty meat. It adds a sweet, fresh contrast that helps balance out the richness of the BBQ. The Mexican street corn is good, but it leans salty, which made it less of a favorite for me since the rest of the meats were already salty. I honestly wish they had a sweeter option, like creamed corn. The cornbread isn't bad, but I would've liked it to be a bit sweeter to better complement the meat. The crack cake is really good. My friend loved it so much that she bought four containers for herself in one visit. Overall, I'd rate the food a 4/5, but because the brisket, burnt ends, and broccoli salad were so good, I'd bump it up to a 5/5. The service is also pretty fast despite the long line, and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a Texas BBQ spot, with wooden tables, lively chatter, and delicious meat served on red trays.

Im not a native Texan but I've lived here for a decade now so I like to think that I've been to my fair share of BBQ places. Cattleack might be my new favorite! Everything we had was so good and tasty! Would highly recommend and I understand why it is so popular!

    Sara N.

This was my last must try BBQ spot around DFW area and I wished I had it sooner! Everything I got was good, my favorite were the pork ribs and the wagyu briskets. Cornbread was also very yummy. The sides were solid. Service was great, inside was clean and plenty of seatings. They also have outside seating so that was nice too.

Ask the Community - Cattleack Barbeque

When is pastrami brisket on the menu?

The weekly specials are posted on their website. Pastrami brisket is a weekly special and you can see if it is available by checking the website that week.

If you are going to get 2 sides which two?

Burnt end beans are a must.

What time do you usually sell out of stuff on a Saturday? I can't get there until 12:30 to 1pm

Oh my. Unfortunately I wouldn't bother. Anything you want might be gone by noon

Are you only open the first Saturday of the month or every Saturday?

    1st Saturday

Can I pre-order for Saturday 9/3 for pickup?

Not on Saturday but you could on Friday

    Do they take Apple pay?

I know they do not take cash only cards. They do have and iPad pay. Call them To be 100%

Are you able to preorder carry out on either Thursday or Friday?

Yes. Please see web site for all the details

How are you going to be closed on a Saturday though?

    Don’t understand your question

Is the line for Saturday whole hog substantially longer than the normal Thu/Fri line of you get there when they open? Are they serving full menu on Saturday?

Yes to both. Overall, a significant longer line. The full menu is served.

Do they serve Beef Ribs and Burnt ends on the two days they are open? Or just the on Saturday they are open? And what time are they open Saturday's; Same times and Thursday's and Friday's?

They serve it every day they are open... Thurs/Friday for lunch and that first Saturday of the month. But it runs out fast!

    Can you order to-go?

    Yes

    Is it wheelchair accessible?

Yes it is! Great, great bbq joint!

Do they do catering? 50-60 people

Yes they do but you have to order two weeks in advance! Trust me too it is soooo worth it! :)

What day is generally less busy--Thursday or Friday? Are strollers allowed in line?

I took my stroller in and it was fine. We were there on a Thursday. Thankfully the line is inside so it's cool.

Is there a wait before the restaurant opens?

Yes. They open at 10:30am and people line up way before that. It could take 45 minutes to get thru the line once it opens depending on what time you arrive. Sometimes more than that. But it's so worth it.

I'm allowed to bring beer into the restaurant?

    Yes it is always

Do you sell the rub that you use for your ribs,if not would you share the ingredients?

soon you will be able to purchase the rub

My friend absolutely loved the burnt ends. He liked them so much that after we finished the first order, he went back and got a second one, plus some brisket and elote. I thought everything was good, but I will say the menu felt a little limited. This is definitely one of those places where I am glad I finally tried it because it is part of the local DFW BBQ experience, but it is probably not somewhere I would specifically seek out again. That said, if someone wanted to go, I would go again without complaint. I DO want to try the Burndt end bloody mary!

The vibe in this place is really great. The people are friendly. Downtown Plano is cool. The restaurant and bar area are clean, well-attended, and the food and drink are all good. So why only 3-stars? To be fair, I came here on a weeknight around 6:30pm, which is not the best way to judge a BBQ place. I will try to come back on a Friday at lunch time, and I hope things will be epic. Bottom line, I wasn't blown away by the meats! They were well cooked, but the flavor just didn't impress. The Sause (sorry, I'm a Rudy's loyalist) was tasty, but didn't blow my mind. A nice sweet + smoky flavor that worked better with the Spare Ribs than the Brisket. (Another minot note -- I know a lot of BBQ places eschew Baby Back Ribs for Spare Ribs. Lockhart only does Spare Ribs.) Would I come back? 100% Would I recommend that you go here? 100% I have to say the bartender was terrific, and the pit masters were super friendly, so no dis on the staff. I was just hoping for "oh my god" BBQ and didn't quite get there. Still a great visit.

The Texas Twinkie is a jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and brisket and wrapped in bacon. It was my favorite item as the cream cheese and bacon balanced out the spiciness of the jalapeño. This time, I had birria tacos on my mind. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - I love the Dallas Farmer's Market, and Hurtado is the perfect restaurant to occupy this space. There is a line that steadily moves, nice outdoor and indoor seating, and if you walk towards the back you can see all the smokers. If you visit on a weekend, try to arrive before noon to avoid long lines. 1 Star. Service - You place your order, take a number, and your order is brought out to you. While you don't get to see the staff cut your meat in front of you, they are very fast and efficient. There are also Hurtado staff who will clear plates off your table. Great people here. 1 Star. Food - I came for the Birria tacos. Hurtado uses their smoked brisket, which shredded and paired will all things that make Hurtado special - Mexico flavors (cilantro, onions, and that beefy consommé). I also ordered a two-meat plate with brisket and bacon burnt ends. The brisket is great (and well represented in many Yelp reviews). On this visit, the bacon burnt ends stole the spotlight. A well-seasoned and smoked pork belly cube will melt in your mouth. I washed down my meal with the Tres Leches Banana Pudding and ended an incredible meal. One last very important note, Hurtado is a great value. My two tacos, 2 meat plate, and desert were $50. P.S. I split this meal with my son. I love food but I'm not a glutton. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I've been to the OG Hurtado in Arlington, the one at Globe Life Field, but the location in the Dallas Farmers Market is my favorite of them all. Yes, I will be back! 1 Star.

So my girlfriend said "oh, we are meeting her son and his wife at this barbecue place off of…read moreGreenville," and as I do as a Yelper, I started pulling up pictures on Yelp and honestly I wasn't impressed with some of the pictures, but let me tell you once we got our food and sat down and started eating, I was like DANG!! this is actually really good!! The brisket was nice and fatty and juicy, well seasoned. The sausage glistened and was very good. The sides were also really good from the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. The service was welcoming and fast. It was late in the evening on a Friday night and it was pretty empty that night, but that was ok. We will come back for sure. They food is on point.

But I'm highly disappointed. Service was shit. They said "we are out of a lot of stuff" "idk if we even still make the chicken" it was just pathetic. Giving very careless service. Even when I came and went from the front door- bartender seemed like he hated his life. This was my first visit and I was thinking it was a restaurant- no, definitely more cafeteria vibes. And I was hoping the food was gonna be better bc I saw good reviews, but nope. I promise you I will never go back there. I'm disgusted with everything. Don't know why there were any good reviews in the first place I had better food and service at a fast food place. I'm mad I wasted my gas money and $25. Trash. Maybe terminate everybody, and start over bc this place isn't going anywhere but down. I never leave reviews this bad but I'm legit disgusted by the entire experience thanks to the staff giving off so much "I don't care" energy.
